So I had google wallet working properly using the fix on an earlier release of CM7 Nightly and then I tried the ICS Port for a few weeks. Well I came back to CM7 nightlies and before doing so i did a clean wipe and format and now when I try to install google wallet I get an error that says "insufficient secure element privileges for this system image (test-keys). Please contact Google Support" By accident I pressed the search key and the window disappeared and it seemed like it let me go through the process of setting up google wallet. I even received an email from google confirming it. However, it doesn't load the $10 so there's no way of telling if it would still work given the error. Is there a simple fix to this? I tried removing it and re-installing the fix to no avail. I'm a n00b if you couldn't tell already.
Had the same issue earlier and now wallet just sits there and syncs first time this has done this. Using Petes Kernel and Bugless Beast rom which Ive flashed a few times before now
I'm having the same problems, so what I am doing is unrooting then reroot and see if the problem had to do with 4.0 I'll let y'all know my status in about 30 minutes.
** UnRooted, reRooted, and flashed over cm7 again and no fix..
***** Now I am completely unrooted and fully updated and still GW doesn't work*******
Flash the google wallet fix in the same recovery session when flashing your custom rom
this i do know but now i am completlely stock and my nfc can't uncheck, wont work at all... idk what happened but nothing is working now.
Had this problem too.
I was running ICS Dirty 3.6 for a few days and just flashed back to GPA18 and now wallet doesn't work, gives the above mentioned error. I contacted google wallet services and they are "investigating" the problem.
The support specialist I talked to let me know that wallet is not designed to work with custom roms and rooted phones because of security issues. I am wating to hear back from the wallet team about how they will resolve this. I will update here when I hear back from them and let you know how they resolved the issue.
See it isn't a Google Wallet problem its an NFC problem, you won't be able to uncheck the NFC option in the wireless settings. Lucky for me the balance in my Google Wallet account is $0.00 lol
I can check and uncheck my NFC option in settings. ?
using Tapatalk.
Yea I can't, guess its broke on my phone now. When I press it to uncheck it, it just greys out then I press back then reenter wireless settings and it's still checked in green like normal

Something weird
ok as you know from reading these posts I cant uncheck NFC while Google Wallet is installed on the phone. when I use titanium back up to take it off then I can uncheck it. So I tried to install it again and then it still wouldn't uncheck it just greys out ( even the check ) and when I go to Google Wallet its just a straight Black Screen and it just sits there.

I tried this with cm7, ics, and oxygen. So I'm guessing it is an nfc related issue like everyone else is saying. It was working great before--not sure what went wrong in between.
Works Only on Rooted Stock ROM
I just installed this on my AT&T Nexus S and it works, got the $10 pre-paid card too. I switched to CM7 ROM and I got the "insufficient secure element privileges" error. Seems like Google Wallet is blocking CUSTOM ROMS -- It makes sense, it is dealing with money after all.
If you are getting the gray NFC and cannot check it on, just download the Nfc_fix.zip and flash it. It should work after that. Remember that flashes your Dalvik cache so the reboot will take longer.. don't panic and wait.

I could have sworn I had it working on CM7 originally. I remember getting the $10 as well. But maybe you're right and my memory is just serving me incorrectly.
edit: i got it to work on the latest oxygen. of course oxygen IS pretty much stock. i'm not sure that i did anything different though. i did a clean wipe, data, cache, dalvik, formatted system, cache, data, boot and installed rom gapps and wallet fix.

Everything you're telling I already know, I even unrooted the phone went back to 2.3.4 then updated to 2.3.5, then 2.3.7 I am still getting the same problem .. so it has nothing to do with root or the same way i've been flashing the fix. I flashed over the GW fix over 20 times with no problems until I flashed the ICS ROM that is out for the NS4G, after I flashed it, I've had nothing but problems.

I've had it working on cm7 all along using the googlewalletfix v5. Just have to reflash it each time I flash a nightly. Funny thing is market will show it's not installed but still updates it fine.

I've had the same, even now I am on BuglessBeast and his newest kernel still not working. flashed the fix in Rom Manager that he has, oh well... just gonna wait it out until the phone gets ICS, or I'll get another phone.

Any app(paid or free) won't go past the "Download Starting..." Status. It has been driving me crazy for hours now. I've restored the phone with the latest RUU 3 Times now, I've tried the stock rom, modaco, and TTG. Its a Google Phone w/ Recovery 1.5.2. I'm getting annoyed with the phone and I'm about to through it out, It has been working nearly perfect(random slow downs and crashes) until today.
i had the same problem
i had to do a total wipe of the phone to get it back to normal
I flashed it with the RUU? Isn't that the way to "fully" wipe it?
Same here. I did ruu then flashed fresh 1.1 and gumbo kernel. All my apps were in my downloads but they wouldn't download to the phone. Stayed stuck at application downloading. Did a nandroid backup and that fixed it.
I completely wiped everything, with these commands:
Code:
wipe /
wipe -data
wipe /data
wipe -all
I don't know which commands worked for doing what but I couldn't even boot into android or recovery.
Um..
Its a market wide issue... No reset is gonna help.. It was just circumstance that you thought that...
I'm a Sprint Tech, and it has been brought to my attention all day, whether you have a Hero or a Moment, its sporadic outages.
Did you use a task manager or anything that disables apps on start-up?
I had that problem until I figured out disabling Google Talk from start-up gave me that problem. Opening Google Talk, magically fixed the problem for me. May or may not be the case for you, but something to think about.

That sucks, the day I choose to reflash the market is down. Oh well. Anyone know how to do a FULL Wipe or were my commands right?
Need to open google talk and sign in.
That fixed it for me, and a few of my friends!
I experienced this problem, and found that A2SD is the cause.
Not sure if you're using it nor not.
Try this LINK HERE
Read post #37 by me and try it this should fix the issue without doing a wipe
I've fixed the issue, I had to boot into fastboot and manually delete everything on the phone(directory "/") and used the latest RUU. I manually rooted the phone and installed the 1.5.2 Recovery. I did a factory reset, deleted dalvik-cache and boot-cache and installed a custom rom. I couldn't get service but a reboot fixed it. I have 150mb free space on my phone and market works without problems.

Sound like your problem wasn't just a market problem.
All you actually had to do was change your Gmail password. The phone will then force you back through the Google account sign-in process. This fixes most Gmail syncing issues and Market download issues.

are you using wi-fi to download the app? I never had much success doing that myself. always had to use EVDO.
Let me first start off by saying that I have been flashing ROM's since the D1 days but haven't posted enough in the past to ask for help in the specific developer forums. I have tried to find answers but can't seem to get any resolution.
Since Thursday, I have been attempting to flash JB on my Verizon Nexus. All of the ROM's I have flashed work, except for one key feature, Google Now. It doesn't matter if I flash Vicious 2/3, JellyBelly, or Vanir, the results are the same.
When I try activating Google Now, an error message will state that "Google Search has stopped". The only way for me to get Google Search to work from this point forward is to either Wipe in Boot or kill the data and force stop Google Search in the Settings Menu.
The first thing I tried was revert back to ICS and then go back to JB.
Next I tried to go into Boot, FR about 4 times, clear the Cache about 4 times, wipe the Davlik, flash Superwipe, and then reflash JB and Gapps.
Next I went as far as creating another Google account from scratch to see if it was a settings issue.
Finally, I made the decision to unroot and relock my device, and then unlock and root.
None of these things fixed the Google Now issue.
If anyone has any direction I would really appreaciate it. Google Now is the only thing that won't seem to work at all.
^_-
I have this issue too.

This post is pointless and spam, if you want answers describe your problem exactly cause he may have something different, and it is 2 months old. But try reflashing gapps for your device, or a wipe. It usually works for me on my phone.

i had NFC working on stock rooted, then flashed cm10 and it still worked, i switched to jellywiz and wanted to go back to cm10 and reset google wallet just to make sure it was reset and now when i go into my nfc settings, it's grayed out, anyone have any ideas on what to do? i tried enabling nfc before flashing back to cm10 like another thread had suggested and it didn't work
Check this thread out. I posted a file that may help

Also, someone said if you flash a touchwiz rom and enable nfc, then factory reset, you can then flash aosp and nfc will work.

edit: ok soooooo yeah idk wtf is going on, but i checked my devices on the google wallet website and it shows that my device has been disabled, i go into google wallet after using the hack to get it working (used the d2spr hack and not a modified apk hack) and it tells me that my keys aren't released.....i'm confused as wtf is going on haha
edit 2: ok so apparently the wallet hacks that i had been using didn't have the right libs in it for nfc, i used the 10/10 hack that came out today and it worked......fml why does this have to happen after i post my problem just hours prior? haha
thanks for offering your help though maniac, its much appreciated bro

Shouldn't be any reason you couldn't use TWRP. I'm pretty sure nard himself uses it. The CWM was a CM project for a long time, and still the recovery built within it. Everyone pushes their stuff.
been running M7 for about a day now. had one fc with touchdown, my work email client, but otherwise looks good. surprised i had to manually change build.prop to set the dpi. i'm not blind, so i hate the trend towards gigantic fonts even on smallish screens like this one.
i also wasn't able to use tibu to restore securid from my old phone (vzw droid4) but i suspect that app uses some system properties like imei to create its security, so it can't be moved... not a problem. just have to do clean in stall and reimport the token.
one thing i noticed even in cm11m2 on my d4 as well as on this phone in cm11m7 is that the included sms app doesn't actually have a dark theme, and that sticks out like a sore thumb. even when you check the box for dark theme in the sms app itself, it's still white. not a huge deal obviously but doesn't match the rest of cm's normal polish.

The "use dark theme" option only applies to the quick reply pop up windows. The option is conveniently listed in the "quick reply" section.

doh, you're right. my point still stands about messaging not matching the rest of cm's theming. i guess they expect people to just use chomp, go, handcent or whatever other app... i like the standard one in cm tho. except for how light it is.
What did change from the blobs for the builds after 14 /06 ?
Running 14/06 now, really good, battery charging issues are gone (i think), because a new kernel/other blobs.
Where can you find more info about blobs changes (propetary) ?
I've been having data and sms issues lately since I switched to cm11 or any of the latest 4.3.3 builds. Was there a recent radio firmware released?

which build are you on? i'm running cm11-20140608-Snapshot-M7 (which is 4.4.2, not 4.3.3) and have no issues to report so far. i haven't given it a full shakedown yet - still haven't tried BT or GPS but so far so good. watched netflix on the bus this morning and never had an issue. my wife and i text a lot and haven't had issues w/ that either. this evening i'm going to try out BT with my elm327 obd-ii adapter and if i have time, test audio over an avantree cara adapter. i started google maps a couple times and it found me quickly and accurately but i haven't run gps for more than a minute or so at a time so i don't know how it'll do. maybe i'll turn it on while on the bus this afternoon and see if it works well for the whole ride home.

First, use the most up-to-date recovery; I'm pretty sure that cwm 6.0.1.2 isn't it if I see 6.0.4.7 on other devices. I like using TWRP personally, and there's a thread in this forum for that. The outdated recovery is probably the main problem right there for the failed flash.
Second, it doesn't look like you wiped anything in your steps. No factory reset, not even wiping cache and dalvik. Most people do a clean flash (that's a factory reset in recovery) when troubleshooting a failure to install a custom ROM.
Try using the latest recovery, wiping at least cache and dalvik, and see if it helps.
Good luck

i second this. my steps were:
1- boot to download mode, install twrp
2- boot to recovery, flash CM
3- while still in recovery, flash gapps if you want them (make sure you have the correct version of gapps from the CM site)
4- still in recovery, wipe cache and dalvik
5- still in recovery, do factory reset
6- reboot normally (it's called 'system' in twrp) and start using phone
note that there is no need to copy/flash SU at any time because CM is already rooted.
using nightly 22/06 my phone slowed down to unusable slow, flashed 24/06 yesterday.
Never had this before on cm nightly's for the relay.
And the charging (usb) problems aren't over yet (sometimes it works fine for a few hours, sometimes a few minutes).
Did a clean install a week ago (didn't solve anything).

Ok. Now, find out what version of cpu you have and get some logs to help them track down your problems.
There's a search box in the corner.
I don't have any of the problems you are describing and I am betting the developers do not, either.

I am on T-Mo, I get this via the default android messaging app as well as hangouts, but I also have times where mobile data refuses to work as well.
Right now, I'm having this issue on 11-20140608-Snapshot-M7-apexqtmo. I did wipe data and cache before I flashed. I'm not sure what is causing my issue.
I am tempted to reflash it back to factory, and take it back under my total care and get it replaced for a S5, but I really like my keyboard. :crying:
did you wipe cache and dalvik after flashing the rom? the only quirk i've noticed on m7 is that if i don't reboot every couple of days, my work email program (touchdown) likes to get slow and crashy while composing emails. going to the recent apps drawer and closing everything there usually fixes that. gps and bluetooth work fine even at the same time and battery life is great. after having tried multiple roms on my droid4 and having gps and camera issues, i am pleasently susprised how stable cm is on this relay (which i've only had a couple weeks now).

I even tried that too. My phone's about a year and a half old now. I've noticed recently if the keyboard is out, or i'm holding the phone sideways, and I get a call, the phone app crashes over and over till i rotate it upward so the display is vertical, then it stops crashing(all while the phone is still ringing so I can still answer it.)
I have a rooted Verizon device that is running stock 4.1.2, since I have the unlimited data and use the free hotspot toggle.
Well, almost none of the current apps works with my phone anymore, its getting very frustrating. I'd like to unroot my phone and just get to the most recent software, then buy Foxfi for the hotspot...will that work?
Is there a better option? Can I upgrade the software without unrooting ?
Any help would be apprecaited, thanks!

If you want to take the OTA update you will need to unroot. I would highly advise against this as you will permanently lock your bootloader down but if that's what you choose then so be it

I see foxfi hasn't been updated in the play store in nearly 3 years. Some roms have the Hotspot feature built in as far as what roms have it built in, as far as newer roms that much I don't know. I'm running the last build of CleanRom and its built in.
I understand a lot of apps currently require a newer version of Android to run. My suggestion would be to check out the development forums for the VZW S3 and see which roms have it built in rather than having to buy the app itself

I tried reading up, but this seems intimidating. Maybe you can point me in the right direction...my ONLY needs are a working camera (slow motion would be VERY nice to have if available), hotspot tether that I can use without paying the monthly fee (I have unlimited data), and software version that actually works with apps from the playstore.
As far as I know, I have 4.1.2 software, unlocked bootloader and I'm rooted.

I'll also chime in. If OP is looking to update his phone, there are 2 paths. The stock path, which will be up to KitKat based roms (android 4.4) because that was the last update the S3 ever received. You could install something like superliterom (found in our android developement thread). But from your needs (hotspot, and camera) you can go all the way on to marshmallow (android 6) using CM13 which is what I'm running. The only bugs now are bluetooth (it may crash if you're playing music through bluetooth and receiving a call through bluetooth like in a car for example), gps is slow to lock (which is a problem is most of the CM roms), and some minor front camera bugs ie. instagram will crash, but every other camera and video camera/video calling app will work that I've tried. If I was in your shoes, I would try CM13 to see if you like it, and then bounce down from there to a 4.4 or 4.3 rom as a solid 2nd or third choice. I went from cleanrom, to alliance 4.3, to cm12.1 (I could never get gps to lock on this, but everything else worked), to cm13. They are all solid. Even something like slimkat 4.4 has pretty good reviews. But don't ever take the OTA update...there is no point in that now besides locking your phone forever and limiting the usability of your phone.
I'm sorry if this is a really stupid question, but if I install cm13 will I lose all my text messages, emails, app settings, etc.??

Yes. I wouldn't suggest updating to a newer rom without wiping the internal storage. You could always backup text messages. Emails automatically save to the Gmail app and the app settings well that can't be recovered but you could always set it the way it was previously

Correct. You can use third party apps as well. I've been using one for years and it catches call logs also

Ok, so I've downloaded "Oct-M-R1-6.0.1 for d2vzw", the MD5 checksum, and "open_gapps-arm-6.0-stock-20160806".
I have just installed TWRP 3.0.2 on my device and it appears to be working.
Now what?
Put the files onto my microsd or onto my phone storage?
Install from TWRP and that's it?
I have titanium backup, should I run that first? OR is there a backup option from twrp??
VERY specific directions would be appreciated! Thanks LOL
PS - One last thing, what developer options need to be checked or unchecked if any in my phone settings.

In developer options you really only need to enable USB debugging.
As far as installing the rom putting it on your SD card should be efficient or once in TWRP you can mount the internal and move it into there if connected to a pc. As far as installing it's pretty straight forward.
Wipe internal completely but DO NOT wipe your SD card. Install the zip first then gapps and ensure you wipe cache and dalvik. Once done reboot and let the device sit for about 10 minutes without touching it to let the rom settle down, once done just reinstall everything. I do not recommend to install apps via titanium backup (i.e. Data for those apps) anymore questions feel free to ask

Ok, I started the process. Did my backup from twrp and then installed the zip from my sd and gapp at same time...phone has been in a boot loop for about an hour....every now and then it says "Android Starting - optimizing apps", then starting apps....should i just keep waiting or redo it???

The rom may of not played well with the device. I installed lollipop on my S3 and it was quite slow. I'd say restore the backup but you can try installing it again but I forewarn you that it may just not work at all

Maybe I'm doing something wrong? I restored my version, worked fine...then tried again and got boot loop again...back to my 4.1.2 for now until I can figure it out. Second time I went into advanced and wiped the system, too...didn't help.
Any other suggestions would be appreciated....could I have a bad zip file?
I came across this link https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=d2vzw , which should I download? What's the difference between all of these versions? Nightly vs. Snapshot vs. Stable? Also, what is the "Release" and the "Recovery"
