Battery sucks after DDKP3!!! HELP - Samsung Galaxy SL i9003

Sorry mods for creating a new thread, but im too worried and annoyed by this issue . My battery life suck after updating my phone from 2.2 to 2.3.5 xwkpg through KIES, first i was having around one day of battery life, but after updating im not touching the phone but still the battery is draining drastically...100% to 45% in just 5 hrs, without using the phone,i have not installed any new app or changed any settings, please help me with any solutions should i flash another rom, like cranium or smthn.. .. just cant live with it. plus it takes 4 hrs to charge. PLEASE help needed. THANKS

Yes...DDKP3 eats more battery as compared to froyo but i would suggest doing a battery calibration. Search for battery calibrate in the market and perform steps as mentioned

Even i have noticed this ,but its drain is more but not as much as yours,but the ram usage is very high,in froyo i was getting about 294 to 320 mb used,now its always 340 to 360 mb being used.

Use the ram script optimization in the tweaks of cf-root of ganeshbiyer... I now have almost 160 mb of free memory when 1 or 2 applications are running...

I have updated to DDKP3 via Kies. Did a Factory reset as well after upgrade. But my Battery sucks. It last only 11 hours, i have turned off wi-fi, gps, background data, auto sync. Display @ minimal.
When i see the battery usage,
Android OS --> 38%
Cell Standby --> 26%
Phone Idle --> 11%
Android System --> 7%
Voice Calls --> 4%
I have even installed Juice Defender. But battery performance is a moron, far worse than Froyo i had. I am clueless what to do now.

Keep brightness minimum. Install any task killer app which will kill ur background apps everytime automatically say after half hour interval. Most imp flash cf root & apply tweaks.

doing a wipe before installing a rom should not make in necessary to wipe battery stats since this is stored in /data - or am I wrong?
anyhow I do also experience higher battery usage with the new kernel (but using ThiaiZO3D V1.1)
from home to work I have about 40min by car. using speedview and GPS with the new kernel: about 78% of battery remaining. before with stock kernel was at least 84%
today I'm going to test same rom with stock kernel....
Hi did everthing wiping batteryvstats ansmd using battery calibrator still the sane problem.. dunno what to do..

It might be one of those Roms/kernels that trades battery for performance.

Battery drains too quick

Hey guys,
I have had the skyrocket for a week now, my main issue with this phone is battery. I get up at 8 with 100% battery. By the time lunch time roles around i am at 68% with light usage.
Sw version: 2.3.6
Rooted using bloat free and have frozen all bloatware pretty much.
I use original battery charger.
I have yet to reset my phone to factory settings. Will that help?
What should my next step be?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using XDA App
this phone to be completely honest has had the best battery life i have ever seen on a phone so far( stock that is) i get a day and half if i use the stock rom and kernel.
when i use a Launcher (Go Launcher ) i notice a big drop and then on top of that im oc with da g's kernel and if i start the day with 100 percent at 7am i get home at 5pm with about 25 percent. with the stock i would make it home with about 50-45 percent easy.
not saying your wrong.....im sure there are variables at play here.

I also use stock launcher, and i have stock rom. I dont use it for multimedia at all.
Only thing i use throughout the day is gmail, exchange activesync, tweetdeck.
Ocassional text messaging and a call or two.

I loose about 8% an hour with no use.
Using the stock launcher and after manually killing most of the stock services (facebook, and a bunch of others) it consumes about 1% an hour with all the radios off. It actually consumes less than that during the night, about 2% in 8 hours.
Question: how did you root the phone? Did you use the long-winded ODIN method or did you find a one-click rooter?
Root your phone and remove all the crap bloatware and your batt life will improve 100%.. Juice Defender is good.. I get at least 15 hours on mine. with light/moderate use... text. surfing the net..etc...

4.0.4 heavy battery drain

Hi,
Has anyone else had problems with the battery draining with the new 4.0.4 ? My GF Nexus S was still on 2.3.6 so I got the factory version of 4.0.4 and installed it. I obviously wiped the data/cache/etc. Also I rooted it with the latest superuser.
I'm running the latest nighly of CM9 and everything is perfect, so I thought it was time to give her the sweetness of ICS.
So with all that useless information, has anyone found a fix for the battery drain in 4.0.4?
Thank you,
WarpedMonkeys
Since I installed 4.0.4 my battery lasts up to 20 hours, no problem at all.
I'd suggest manual full wipe with fresh 4.0.3 stock rom and then manual ota update to 4.0.4.
I'm also using matr1x kernel, it's just awesome
Hope it helps

Yeah, me too! Try another ROM. I am currently using CyberGR-MOD|NS.NGN ICS v10 HYBRID and getting superb battery life (and performance, mind you ).

Stock rom is ok, but updating with ota from 2.3.6 to 4.0.4 may lead to bad battery behaviour. Someone says that battery stats wipe could lead to better battery performances, but I think fresh install could do the trick

Official factory fastboot images, must be flashed using fastboot on an unlocked bootloader. Contains recovery, radio, and bootloader.
THESE IMAGES MUST BE FLASHED USING BOOTLOADER VERSION I9020XXKA3
I can't really be more fresh than this. I'll try messing around with her settings, but if it doesn't get better, I'll just flash her the latest CM9 nightly
Check your battery usage, if Android OS is using more than 8-9% after some regular usage, then that's the cause.

Her Android OS is normal...I really don't understand why it's that bad. I'll try doing a full battery cycle.
Updated form 2.3.6 stock to 4.0.4
OTA and battery usage is still OK. Lasts about 1-1.5 days. Permanent Wifi or 3g, internetusage and some gaming-No probs!!!

A full battery cycle could do the trick. Don't let it die, anyway, because it can cause battery wear... Just take it to 10% and recharge it nighttime... You may also wipe battery data before, if you wish...

Check apps like news and weather too. My news and weather app really acted up after my ics update and wouldn't stop pulling data. I had to shut off any automatic updating with that app and it fixed my issue. It might have been temporary but just check your apps.

Try Badass Battery monitor . it will give you some good info on whats using your battery. Gives you a % of app usage

OMG thank you, I didn't notice that. Maybe I can get even better battery performance now it was set to update every 1 hour, so it may be not much, but even 1% is good for me!
Heavy battery drain ??? i don't have any issues with it, infact i have not touched my phone for 1 day 6 hours and 25 minutes and my battery dropped from 95% to 82%. My phone was fully charged (didn't go higher then 95%). I am very impressed by the results.
I changed 2 settings:
1. Automatic screen brightness.
2. Turn screen off after 30 seconds.

Hello,
my Nexus S was updated automatically to version 4.0.4. I will tell you. My problem is with data. Now I can not open any WWW page in default viewer,Opera sometimes opens some pages but quite rare. I can not get any email in K9 Mail. Update of Google maps took several hours, unfinished, eaten all my battery! Sometimes I am without signal or with bad signal.
It is for sure problem with 4.0.4 because I have unlimited data. So, no FUP in this case.
I was satisfied with 2.3.6. How can I do downgrade without rooting etc. my phone ?

You need to install a better app. The Android built in power usage thing is about as much use as a chocolate teapot, and better battery stats isn't much better.
Try system panel from Play, you will need the paid version from here. Put it in monitoring mode and leave it for a few hours.
You will be able to see what is chewing CPU then, and that is invariably the thing that is causing the drain. It very rarely fails to assist me with diagnosis of an obscure drain issue.
Ok..just bought system panel app.will update about this crazy battery drain later..
Thanks thalamus..

Cool, it's well worth the couple of dollars.
I've used it pretty much constantly in monitoring mode since they were in beta when I had my desire. So, probably not far off a couple of years usage with me.
It doesn't eat battery either, because it polls when the device wakes up for another reason.
And the thing which really makes it good for me, it records usage of the system tasks, such as kernel threads, which can be massively handy in diagnosing an issue.
Solved by flashing latest adamG ROM..
Thanks adam and thalamus..haha..enjoyed my nexus s back...:thumbup:

I'm no expert in battery life of the moto g, i'm still trying to get used to the phone but for me having spent 1% per hour in a day with no use and those settings is pretty good, i mean if i go to sleep with 70%+ battery left, i don't even bother to charge the phone.

yes, <1,5% is good in idle but it can be better because for me, its 0,3-0,5%/h, sometimes only 0,1%/h (it means 0,6-3% max. for my 6 hour night)
Geenify
Maybe the apps which you didnt greenify cause this battery drain ( not sure if this is a high drain as im using tweaky one Rom with faux kernel.. Maybe try to greenify those apps which you dont habe greenified now one after the other and tell us if it made a difference.. Also look in your settings if you disabled all things you dont need like print GPS etc.. Hopefully this helps

Would you recommend to greenify motorola services? I did once and couldn't check for updates and get it back working was a pain in the arse. I am currently having around 1% drain with wifi on 24/7 but once I had around 0.4 to 0.6%/h. Can't find wakelocks aswell, currently on stock kernel and rom.
I dont think that Motorola services darin mich battery..
I want the moderator to ban me.
downgrade your OS to make it work again.
