What rom are you using? Some roms gives you the ability you save your contacts to your sd card (vcf format I think) once you do that. Go to your contacts from your email, click on more and it should give you the option of importing contacts from file, choose your vcf file saved on your sd card and it will add your new numbers to your list

better Sim Manager with sychronization

Hello
I'm looking for SIM manager which can not only copy but also synchronize contacts between my SIM card and Adress Book.
So it should be able to:
-remember which contacts should be synchronized
-automatically find duplicates
-optionally populate on SIM card contacts with multiple phones
Any idea?

Maintaining contacts on pc

Is there a way I can edit my contacts which are stored in Outlook on the device but edit them and add new contacts via the computer in a sort of spreadsheet format?
Note: I do not store contacts on the sim card itself

Froyo - Syncing New Contacts

Using Android 2.1, when entering a new contact on the phone, we had three storage options - phone, gMail, and SD card. Now, with 2.2, these options appear to be gone. New contacts entered on the phone are stored to the phone but don't auto-sync to gMail. New contacts entered into gMail on the PC auto-sync to the phone, as normal.
Bug or cockpit error? Thanks.
Phone contact and gmail contact are two separate contact groups. They never sync with each other.
In 2.2, you can pre-set where the new contact should be created, phone, sim card, gmail or any exchange mail accounts you setup so that you don't have to chose this every time you create a new contact. If you want your new contact sync to gmail, make sure you chose gmail as your default contact location.

[Q] Need help to backup contacts to Gmail

Bought my optimus one last saturday.
I have a few questions -
1. what are the best music player and video player for P500? (mention both free ans paid apps)
2. best PDF reader (mention both free and paid app s)
and if you know, please mention the maximum file size of the PDF file that the specific app can open.
3. I installed the LG PC Suite provided in the memory card. I added my contacts in the Contact Manager of the PC Suite and then I synced the contacts to my phone.
but now I want to backup those contacts to my google account too.
how to do that????
and after sync, how will i know if the contacts have been properly synced to my account or not???? Does it show in my Google account contact manager?
Are there any free Contact Manager apps which do this backup?
P.S - I am on stock ROM
1. music: poweramp (although stock app isnt that bad) video: idk i just use the stock app (this might help you though)
2. adobe reader (i dont think there is a file size limit)
3. when u first added your contacts, did u create them under ur gmail account or ur sim card/phone-only? the contacts under ur gmail account get synced while the contacts in ur sim card dont. if you made them under your sim card, i believe you can import your contacts from the sim card (phone>contacts>menu button>import/export>import from sim card). to sync your contacts to gmail (after youve moved them under ur gmail account) go to settings>accounts&sync>[email protected]>sync contacts
and yes, it does show up under your gmail contacts list
sorry if this is confusing. i was losing track of things

I do not have the contacts in my SIM Card.
I added them using the LG PC Suite. So how do i import them to place them under my Gmail account?
And thanks for the app recommendations.
About the PDF Viewer, I did not mean a file size limit of the app. I meant upto what size I can open files smoothly. Since I have heard that to open the PDF versions of magazines, which contains lots of images, it fills up the RAM very fast.
So not all files are opened smoothly
ive never used lg pc suite myself (sorry). is there an option to move the contacts from pc suite to your sim card? if so, i recommend you do that (and then export them to your gmail account)
about the pdf viewer, adobe reader has smooth scrolling. the only thing not smooth about adobe reader is when you're zooming in and out but after that its all smooth scrolling
and back to your contacts, if you plan on flashing your phone, it is recommended that you dont use pc suite:

ya dont waste your time with pc suite... just use google sync etc...
You can export your SIM (or PC Sync) contacts to a csv file and import that file into your Gmail account online. In the Contacts list (on your phone) press Menu > More > Import/Export > Export to SD card > Menu > Select All > Done.
Copy file to PC via USB, gmail.com, import into contacts ... yay

Hi,
I almost have the same problem...my SD is not working and I have saved years ago my contacts to my phone ONLY! Now I wanna tranfer my contacts from my phone (old and rusty!) to my new one via gmail!! is there any chance I can get them with pc sync??

Spent 3 hours joining/merging contacts on SG2, how to transfer to another android?

So I have a gmail account and hotmail account with contacts synced to my phone. Spent 3 hours joining contacts/ updating emails etc. I then used the merge with google in the contacts menu, but not all of the contacts show up in my google accounts. I then export to vcard, transfer vcard to another phone, but all of the contacts are not updated/joined.
Very frustrating...
I basically want to have the same contacts on my phone, gmail and hotmail accounts, and have all 3 synced all the time. What's the best way of doing this?
i dnt know if it works cross phone but titanium back up of the contacts settings and details etc, (may cause problems as the settings are optimized for a specific phone.) i used this to copy contacts back to phone after changing roms, but some htc like roms conflict with settings in samsung type roms etc.. its worth a shot as long as you got a nandroid back up you will be ok i doubt you'll need it just for contacts though
Menu button -> Import/Export -> Export to external storage. After done, transfer the generated file to another phone. There, Contacts app -> Import/Export -> Import from external storage
Copy contacts to him card. Then import them on the other phone

So were you using google sync?
If you install google sync all you have to do with your new phone or with any phone is link that phone to google sync and all the contacts will automatically sync to your phone?
This brings back bad memories. The only option I came across, after much reading, were paid apps to sync. Going to check and see if I saved them. I did use kies/free trial of google sync (only available to business or something along those lines...), which made a mess of outlook.
The method above, export to card/import from card works. The issue for me is keeping them synced.

This does not keep the contacts merged. I went through and manually merged my hotmail/cellphone and gmail contacts in my ATT S2, and I want to transfer that list completely intact to my Telus S2. It shows up as individual contacts again though =/
i have all contacts backed up to titanium, as well as vcf and kies, so I'll try some things out tonight. Worst case, I'll clean my gmail contacts, fix it all there, and then clone to hotmail and my phone
