Any of you who have come from the OG Epic, Evo 4G, Evo 3D, or Epic touch -or really, who have had a Sprint Android phone at all in the last few years, probably know what Carrier IQ is. If you don't, see this post. CIQ has now shown up on AT&T devices; where CIQ goes, I do as well, with noCIQ alongside.
This mod does precisely what it says on the tin - removes Carrier IQ. For good. No more background process, reduced battery drain, marginally better performance. This package is best suited for stock ROM users and ROM/theme devs - ROM users, you will likely see this mod included in most if not all ROMs from today (11/11) on.
This mod is tested and stable.
How To Install
Wipe cache (main menu) and dalvik-cache (under Advanced) in CWM, and flash as normal.

FAQ
Q: Can I flash this on an odex'd ROM, including stock, or a T-Mobile SGS2 ROM? What about the Rogers Skyrocket?
A: No! You must use a deodexed ROM FROM THIS DEVICE (AT&T).
Q: I get FCs!
A: Ensure you wiped cache and dalvik-cache. If issues persist, try other common troubleshooting steps. DO NOT report bugs unless you get an FC every single time in a certain place.
Q: This broke (theme/mod/app/etc.)
A: Theme/mod: is it noCIQ-compatible? If not, that's why. Ask the creator to update it. Anything else: no. It didn't break it.
Q: Are you going to release a version without overscroll?
A: No.
Q: I'm a ROM dev/themer. May I use this?
A: Absolutely. Please credit me if you do - other than that, go wild.

I would use |Melvin|'s ADT Stock AT&T Rooted Base ROM; it's deodexed.
Tried this on top of BeastMOD and it did terrible things. (long boot, followed by constant attempted loads and crashes until I hold power to shut it off).
Ok i am going to flash melvin's ADT rom as soon as it finishes downloading.
I think we can use this no carrier IQ mod as well for the guys over Tmo because the 3 way calling and putting 2nd call on hold don't work for them without Tmo's App for Tmo ID management

That's not a surprise. The JARs are COMPLETELY different. You must use a deodexed ROM FOR THIS DEVICE.

When i click on it, the site is not available. Its from an 800-0000 number.
Is this normal or did i mess up?

I've never seen that before, and there are no other reports here - but, I see no reason to believe that's not normal. It's odd, though, that it's showing up. Certainly confirmation that CIQ is being actively used! If you're still getting messages, use an aftermarket app to block them.

Ahh yes, I'm still getting those annoying text messages, 2 hours later, right on the dot of every 15 minutes. I might just be a really bad customer that they must monitor haha. Will start looking for those blocking apps. Thanks.

If you do decide to restore data, it is recommended that you reflash the ROM overtop of your data restore.

Anything different in flashing this? Just go through clockwork, wipe and update? Also, and this is a general question, not necessarily pertaining to this ROM...If I flashed a ROM that updated/changed the kernel (like Syndicate Full), do I need to flash back to a different kernel before changing ROMs?

Nice, been running the first version and it's definitely had the best battery life out of all the froyo roms I've tried (prob 4 or 5)
I remember someone from the other topic saying something about double clicking space not inserting a period and no auto-correction but I'm not having those problems. Might have been fr a different rom tho.

Shouldn't need to. As long as you have the latest modem.
if youve done it initially for any dk17 rom you dont need to again because this is based of of dk17

Pretty sure you need to wipe because 2.1 and 2.2 are almost completely differant. And if not it would be a good precaution to do so.

Another thing I have noticed with these FroYo ROMs is that if you leave the keyboard open the keyboard lights randomly turn on and off (whether its plugged in or not), anyone else notice that? I am wondering if this happens with the keyboard closed and possibly be a parasite draining the batt when not actively using the phone?

Go to settings and about phone, then look at your baseband, that is your modem.

Why am I getting FC’s on gmail/market/voice search/whatever?
FC’s can be a common issue when /system/app contains an app that you already have on /data/app. So if you get a FC on gmail, the market, or something similar, then it can generally be fixed 99.99% of the time by either wiping that particular apps data (Settings < Manage Applications < All < YOUR APP < Clear Data), or going in and uninstalling it which will actually force it to use the one /system/app.
Or, of course, can be fixed 100% of the time by doing a full data wipe before installing! I have verified this rom as 100% FC free (at boot at least) so if you have issues, it’s your particular setup.
Why do I get invalid signature when flashing?
This zip is signed the same as I’ve signed every other rom for the last 2.5 years but was getting invalid signature from TWRC 1.1.1. So make sure signature checking is disabled. You can compare the md5 below to make sure your download is good though.

No. This is version 4.x of Fresh Rom. The Android version is always in my change log and unless it’s tagged as a dev rom, will always be the newest official OTA, or possibly a beta tag for a leaked OTA.

I always listen to the community as a whole and if enough people want something then I will generally add it to my rom. So feel free to ask. However if it's something that only a few people want then I request that you do it yourself and submit a mod/theme/patch for the others to use!

Install Notes: This update does not require a data wipe if you are on a stock-ish Sprint/Sense rom or on a previous version of fresh. If you are coming from another rom then a wipe may be required. Always perform a nandroid backup before flashing.

Thanks, source, credits, and mentions go to imnuts (if there are others, let me know!). This mirror is from TBH who released the leak yesterday. But I'm mirroring it and NOT charging at all for it.
This is for flashing in Odin ONLY! You do NOT need to WIPE anything.
1) Extract the tar.md5 file from the 7z file.
2) Put your phone into download mode.
3) Flash the file you extracted via Odin. This will wipe everything. So take what you want from the phone before doing this. SD card is safe.
4) Takes about 6-7 minutes in Odin, then Samsung logo will flash a few times after that.
5) You're done! Enjoy Netflix!
I am not responsible if you brick your phone.
If the above instructions are confusing to you then this is probably not something you want to do. This is not for the average Android user.

This is rooted.
I tried the ROM out for a while before but decided to stay away until it's cleaned up. The screen quality has degraded considerably with this, and despite reports otherwise, feels choppier and slower to me.

Does the netflix app have to run on this GB ROM? I tried it on Gummy's but it crashes as soon as I sign in.

Both Gingerbread roms are rooted. One is debloated and one has everything that Verizon stuffs the phone with. Both are NOT deodexed.
I was able to flash that theme mod for accurate battery in the status bar

Sorry, I am brand new to the ways of the Charge. I am coming from the Droid 1 where I went through CWR.
So being that it says ODIN only, I am guessing that I can not throw this on the SDcard and install it through CWR. So, do I just connect the phone to ODIN as i did when I rooted and changed the recovery (outlined here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14147928&postcount=3) and select this .md5 in place of step 2 in the link I posted?

Well you really only have 2 choices at the moment... Infinity ROM or stock EP4P debloat + root.
ROM development is pretty much dead and we really only have imnuts' working on new ones, and soon he's going to stop development on Infinity so he can develop ICS for our Charge.

I ran Humble rc2 for a while but flashed the rooted stock, deodexed, & debloated Odin that Danalo posted right after the OTA rolled out. Great battery life and uber smooth UI. Flashed the black and blue theme over that to get rid of the poop... lovin' it!

In my experience those don't behave as nicely as one would like (at least given my minimal skill set and knowledge on how to go about such things), but yes it is very possible. I was thinking about trying to get something together in the near future... we shall see.
Most people right now (myself included) seem to prefer rooted/debloated stock. That said, I haven't tried TweakStock yet and that may well be the way to go now. I used to like Infinity, but can't recommend it right now as it's just not as smooth as debloated stock.

To be totally honest, TweakStock is pretty much just that - rooted/debloated stock - with a few files modified of course.
+1 for tweakstock.
Not only is it de-bloated, it looks MUCH better than stock...

+2 tweakstock. I am running it right now. Smooth a silk. And stable. 24 hours now.
My wife's phone got it before I activated it. Thats how much I like this one.

I tried tweaked stop and the phone never boots up just sits on samsung. I jsut want stock + newest touch wiz + visual voice mail working= heaven for me. Ah well I have an upgrade just waiting on something awesome. Tried the galaxy nexus an wasnt impressed so back to waiting.

Sorry to hear that - if you let me know some of the details leading up to the flash maybe I could help you out?
For example -
What were you running prior to flashing?
Did you use the ODIN package or the CWM?
Did you try a package that included a kernel? If so, were you on ext4 or rfs prior to flashing?
If flashing in CWM, did you wipe data?
Did you check the md5 of the file you DLed?

I strongly believe that you could get Tweakstock working. You may have done something incorrectly. I've soft-bricked my phone a couple/few times- I was always able to get it back to normal after flashing the factory ODIN image.

I just put together this quick mod because I personally can't stand having AT&T tattooed all over my phone. And now with ICS it's in more places!
FOR STOCK ODEXDED AT&T ICS ONLY! (so far)
This zip will remove the AT&T carrier text from the status bar, pull-down shade, and lockscreen.

-Download ICS_ATT_Remove_Carrier_ODEXED.zip to your sdcard
-Boot into recovery
-Wipe dalvik and cache partition
-Install zip from sdcard

Yes. I think JRW is right. Looks like the "emergency calls only" message is hidden in the lockscreen too...
Not sure of another way around that yet.
The files I edited are listed in the link at the bottom of the op if anyone wants to try a different method...

Altered, is this zip flashed through STOCK recovery? Or via bootstrap and CWM (which I heard are working, but I haven't tried, because ICS is booting up on my phone for the first time............. now. WOO!)

Yea, don't rush it man... It is installed through bootstrap and CWM recovery, which are both working fine. I do not think that there are any known working Recovery on Boot methods for us at the time. Also, would be excellent to find a way to install other zips through stock recovery... I think that's being looked into (at least I know I will look into it)... So, please be very careful.. But, the mod zip works fine... in theory.
Related side note, I just finished porting the 1% battery to ICS (my first attempt, so.. who knows), but I do not want to even try to test it until I know I can get myself out of trouble easily...
Meh, I got time on my hands. I'll give it a whirl. We can luckily FXZ back to 2.3.5 if something goes belly up

I went the long route just to get familiar with it all. I f'ed it up a bit but got it to work. I still have all those rainbow Google pngs from the miui threads in my x10 days. I'll put those in in the a.m. I miss a super flash happy phone like the x10. Can't wait for the sg.

How do you can to take screenshot with ics command? I can't do it i press hold volume down and power button but don't work
It works man. You just have to hit the buttons at exactly the same time. It is kinda finicky.

Late to the party. Just wanted to say thanks. Removed carrier branding on my ATT Atrix 2 ics 4.04 using BMM. Oh it removed the branding AIRVOICE WIRELESS which is my MVNO.
Yep, a necessity for AV which takes up half of the bar and knocks other notifications off!
