I would reflash the stock rom if possible, and only flash something from someone who actually has the phone and codes the mods they post.

not working even tried factory reset, and reset through cwm....... frick.. how to reflash stock rom? is it on this forum somewhere to download.. im on the rogers stock rom.. the phone is identical to this one. rather not use AT&T stock rom

rogers is NOT at&t, and from other phones i have seen. yall have yalls own, root and stock. its not the same phones.

Did i memtion this is only for deodexed stock roms ?

yeah i don't think it being rogers is the problem. its that people are trying this on roms that aren't deodexed. my question is how do i deodex my rom? I apologize if this is up somewhere that i haven't seen yet.

Op updated!

How should i go about this i have a rooted SR for att and flashed CWM via rom manager for tmobile gs2. I read this didnt work for skme ppl because of a rogers SR is different or not being deodexed which i dont know what that means.

From what i understand, De-odexed are just Odex files that are now customizable. which is why Rom makers use them so others can theme them and edit the actuall apks and what not.

Got the crt off but not the pulldown.. I would rather have the pulldowns lol.. any ideas on how to resolve?

That's what happened to me. Pulldowns no longer work.. I'm using beast ROM now but would like the option of going back to stock.
Melvin, for your beast ROM how can I change the bottom four icons to my liking? The phone, contacts, messaging etc

Perfect Theme

Just want to share what I think is the perfect theme (IMO).
The theme is not for our phone it's for the I9000 however, if you know how to dissect a rom you can pull just the images and swap them with your favorite GB rom. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO USE ANYTHING BUT THE PICTURES or you'll probably end up reflashing your rom.
Note: with some roms, if you copy all the pictures you may lose the H or 4G and it may display only 3G after you transfer the files. You can do some light editing and fix that. This is the only abnormal thing I've noticed by using this.
The thread owner does not want people to use the theme for porting the theme, he says we can use it for our own personal use, hence why I didn't port it over.
** If you bork your phone or your rom or whatever, I didn't make you try this **
If you like his work, make sure to thank/donate.

He is probably a newblet like I am. I'm using infused rom and don't see anything in regards to if it is jvs or jvr. Help!
*edit* seeing as I don't see anything about it for my rom I'm going to assume it isn't
Infused is an infuse ROM, jvs and jvr are for the galaxy i9000 phones that can be flashed using hellraiser. I'm also on infused and i'm using this theme by using just the images. Like it was said before, if u r not comfortable opening apk files and swapping out images, it may not be a good idea to try this, unless u don't mind reflashing if something goes wrong

Hey, or you could actually answer the questions instead of being elitist. I've been flashing ROMs on the Sony X10, Xperia Play, and Captivate. This is the first time I've run into the issue where the ROM creator didn't specify in their thread whether the ROM was JVR, JVK etc.
Anyway, I received a boot loop flashing any of these on top of S7 Hellraiser. If anyone else has tried, let me know.
Thanks for the reply, maybe I'll try this later to get my hands a little dirty. I read you correctly in that I only need place the images into my infused update file and then flash the phone with the update? Don't have to resize or anything?

Right, u download the theme and the room. For every apk on the theme, replace the images on the room with the ones from the theme. When you are done doing that, flash the rom.

If you go to S7's website you'll see that it says it's JVO based and the theme creator (antonda) does not have the theme for the JVO framework. That's is probably why you are getting the bootloops. If you want this theme on S7 you'd have to go through the process of swapping out the image files

Script to odex your deodexed ROMs

I found this script somewhere on XDA when trying to figure out how to reodex a Gingerbread ROM. It worked perfectly for toadlife's Clean3G ROM. I just installed all my customizations first, then rebooted again into CWM and ran this. It will look like it's frozen for a while. Just give it 5 to 10 minutes to complete.
I always wondered why people deodexed...
sent from my always aosp epic
wont this break the no ciq patch?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
No. The reason I ended up doing this is that I wanted the No CIQ patch but I also wanted to remain ODEXED.
Hmm interesting, might try it out later and at the person asking why make deodexed: its because mods and themes are easier to make with deodex and odex is very limted to what u can do on themes and mods

Generally it makes your boot times faster and overall smoother loading i believe
Not to mention it saves a good amount of space since odexed APKs and JARs use less room.
I did some digging and found this: http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/what-is-odex-and-deodex-in-android-complete-guide
So, it's only the first boot that's slower? But, I guess it does save space overall, so that's probably reason enough to do it.
I remember tanimn did something like this a while back for EC05 I believe. Good stuff

Actually, i found that if i edit the mods script to include deleting the associated Odex file, then flashed it and rebooted back to CWM, I was able to run the odex script again and it would Odex the new file. Worked for me when I installed the silent Camera mod.

Valhalla Black Edition rc1.5 - mms.apk

Steps to reproduce missing mms.apk for Valhalla black 1.5:
Prior to flash:
Valhalla black
Cwm patch 1
Kj6 beta 1.0 kernel
Zeam launcher
Tw was installed, but not default
Wipe cache
Wipe dalvik cache
Flash rc1.5 zip
Wipe cache
Wipe dalvik cache
Reboot
Messaging app missing
I will be restoring from titanium backup, but wanted to post bug so it can be seen and possibly duplicated
Edit: data from messaging was retained (sms history, preferences), and was visible after restoring app only from titanium. Not totally unexpected for me, but a little surprised that didn't go away with cache wipes.

The issue is the mms.apk Raver used was based on my transparent mms apk, which was based on KI3, and for some reason just wasnt playing nice with a lot of different launchers.
I made an updated one on KJ6, this should fix any problems. It worked fine on my device, then again so did the KI3 based one, but try flashing this one.
(this one is only semi transparent, as I left the listview bg black, but its still slick lol)

The thing is that the instructions for the rom recommend you do a factory reset. I've actually been wondering too what causes it since I did do a factory reset and had to flash the apk myself. I use go sms but I still wanted to see what all the fuss was about.

I've found that if I did a factory reset before flashing OR if I flash any version of Valhalla Black over the top of an earlier version without a factory reset the apk is missing. However, If I flash any version of Valhalla Black over Valhalla final without a factory reset the apk is there. I try to avoid doing that since I seem to have had a better overall experience just pushing the apk itself from Valhalla Final to Black. Either way, It's an amazing ROM, just an extra step of adding the MMS. No big deal. And I think I've tried working with almost every launcher out there with the same results. /shrug

[Q] Clock work mod recovery

does anyone know if flashing the leaked ics update will remove clock work mod recovery from my phone? i just flashed it and made a back up of my stock gb rom but i want to be able to flash back to gb if i dont like the leaked ics rom.
Either way you can flash it through Odin in case you lose it after flashing ics. I did flash ics but I can't recall whether it removed cwm recovery or not

Things I've learned today that you all may or may not know. If you are having any lag issues with this ics update this worked for me. And you must be rooted. First freeze or remove any unused apps att bloatware etc etc. For a list of the ones its safe to remove or freeze search the dev forum. Since my phone is still under warranty for now I just chose to freeze those apps but if you are out of warranty you may just want to remove them which you can do with titanium backup. Now I don't know why but this second thing really made my phone a lot faster. Install apex launcher like I said I don't know why but it did. So try it it just might work for you. Now if I could just figure out the battery drain issue I would be ok. Any ideas on fixes or tweeks for extending battery life on ics???

better battery stats will help u figure out whats draining your battery. Also, i don't know where this "warranty" idea u have came from, but u voided it the second u flashed that ics leak, which hasn't actually been released yet. Also, if u did use the oneclick ics, i high recommend u flash a different ics custombrom through cwm, stock is too buggy. Superlite 5, team perfection, and ics - the real thing are all good choices
Well from what I was told if it didn't trip the flash counter they could not tell if it had been flashed and the flash counter when I got done with everything flashing the update flashing cwm and rooting when done the flash counter said none. It only moves if you flash a custom rom from what I read and been told by others on here. I will try the battery stats app to see what is draining my battery it might just be ics is more battery demanding than gingerbread???? Oh and the third I done to speed up my phone that I left out of my last post was get rid of any and all task killers task managers. My phone is way faster after those three tweaks.. if I'm wrong about the warranty let me know thanks for the advice on battery stats headed to download now....

You don't wanna get rid of the stock task manager, if that's what you did. What exactly do you think you just did? You flashed cwm with odin, you flashed a rom, you flashed a kernel, and you flashed a radio. All custom and not official=warranty void. You can get away with this by flashing the sammobile tar and unrooting, but as of now your warranty, well, you don't have one. I would also advise you read more before you go flashing, deleting and freezing anything else. This is how bricks happen.

To flash, you must first flash this recovery: http://www.mediafire.com/?2000k5y512spft4
Then boot into recovery, wipe data/cache, go to mounts and storage and format system, then flash the rom. Gapps are here: http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-ics-20120317-signed.zip . You'll probably have to mount system manually under mounts and storage before flashing gapps.
I've only tested this using gingerbread bootloaders, no idea if it works using froyo bootloaders. If you don't want to deal with the caveats of gb bootloaders, then well, fix it yourself.
what works:
radio (calls/sms/data)
touchscreen
audio
wifi
sensors
hw acceleration
software and hardware video decoding
data usage monitor (for wifi at least)
what doesn't work:
camera/camcorder
bluetooth
anything else is either broken or completely untested.

for some reason with all my phones ive never been aware of my bootloaders... i think its because i just flash cm and never look back,
so if i flashed cm7 right after rooting (now on miui) would i be on GB as well? is there a quick way to check.

Therez no way to check bro. Same spot as you. When i home from school, ill try flashing. But just try flashing with froyo bootloaders, it may work. If it doesnt, then odin back to stock.
Successfully got everything up and running. Great ROM for a first release.
Anyone else have a jacked up recovery? Crazy colors and only half the screen visible? Any way to fix that? It's still functional, just hard to tell what you're doing.
Camera and bt dont eork . Im going to wait for fixes.. Im super happy.

If you'll go to the inspire 4g thread and pull the abso camera from the collective build , all 3 apks, it works. All credit to flappjax and team collective...

i think it has to so with the sdcard not mounting, if i use root explorer i can access all of my files, but the os natively won't see it

I think you're right, the first time I flashed i had the rainbow and i was on froyo bootloaders, after restore to GB it came up fine.
Prior to flashing CM9 I had just Heimdalled back to AT&T UCBL3, so I'm not sure why I wouldn't have GB bootloaders...

How long did it take you all to get off of the initial Samsung logo at start up to the cm9 boot animation after flashing? It has been roughly 10 minutes so far and it hasn't moved. My recovery is all screwed up with funny colors, but it's nice to know that others have encountered the weird recovery as well... was on Devestion before following the steps for flashing cm9.
