It's not ICS that makes it better. It's that it's a Google phone with vanilla android on it that makes it better. But to each their own.
Anyone flashed this? Is this better than before? I don't want to be the first one. hehehe..
btw, do you guys know why AT&T restricting the tether speed to 1Mbps, when Infuse can d/l at 10Mbps? It's not even fast enough to watch any youtube HD. This is major road-block for me to use AT&T kernel.

See if this works for you. I997UCKK1.7z - it's not cwm flashable obviously.
EDIT: Flashed and running. Seems snappier but I'm sure it's because it's a fresh install. No lag on lock screen at all. No lag anywhere really yet.
EDIT 2: Removed link

I've never seen this... However, the TCP buffer size tweaks I implemented in my kernel to help with data transfer speeds only helps TCP sockets opened by the device - if a tethered device doesn't have big enough TCP buffer settings, it'll be slow.

Your kernel (entropy), Infusion-GB kernel and Rogers stock kernel doesn't have this problem. The limit/cap was only on AT&T KJ2 and KJ4 (not sure about new leak, or Froyo as I didn't test them). Also, CM7 and MIUI roms didn't have this issue.
------
Just flashed to KK1.
I'm getting pretty good d/l speed (126ms/5965/1167). I think it was around 3-4mbps with KJ4. Btw, it says 4G instead of H+. not that it matters. I'm hoping KK1 has better battery life than before.

I know on xda there are several pre packaged zip files with the update script and binary and redbend all you have to do is drop in the modem.bin into the updates or modem folder.
I'd link one if I were on my PC but I mostly just post from my phone lately.
so this is no different than the last leak ?

Yeah I didn't have time earlier. I haven't tried flashing this but I just took the modem.bin from this leak and dropped it in Jordan's UCKJ4 CWM flashable zip. I did update the updater-script file to say UCKK1 instead of UCKJ4 but I've never done this so you can flash this one or just wait til Jordan or someone else who has done it before does it.
CWM Flashable UCKK1
EDIT: OK, I heimdall flashed entropy's 11/2 kernel to get CWM and root (which, by the way, seems to work fine on this leak). I flashed my UCKK1 file and it worked for me. I have (slightly more) confidence now.

I did a quick test with the camera, market place, wifi and no errors. I never experienced SOD with the earlier GB rom so i guess I didn't experience it here as well.
Nevertheless, I'm flashing back to Froyo and I'll just wait for the official samsung release. I've wasted too much time already reinstalling things...

i have kj3 with dhonks kernel. whats the smoothest way to upgrade from what i have now?
if i ODIN this will my dhonks kernal be replaced?
There's no hard bootloader in this file. Just sbl.bin. Which was the last gingerbread build that had the hard bootloader?
Trying the modem . . .
Hard to say. Non wi-fi seems a wee bit stronger, but all the wi-fi here at work is secured and belongs to someone else.
Yep

Tried installing using odin, the pit, csc, phone from KG4. No good still. When i went to re-odin it for a second time (what i'm doing now) it actually gave me a notice (when attempting to enter download mode) stating "Installing custom os's can harm your device" or something to the sort and made me confirm that it's what i wanted to do. Interesting. I'll let yall know if i have any success with the odin.
How is the rom
Just flashed with odin, then flashed cwm/voodoo kj1, linda converted, testing now.
EDIT: not all DATA got wiped! weird. Gonna see how stable it is before I wipe data and try again. Contacts, mms, still there. Didn't have google setup at first boot. most apps intact.

That is normal and expected (thank goodness). KJ5 is the type of ROM update Samsung will push to users so they try to minimize impact. If you were to do a clean wipe with some of the other custom ROMs you might lose contacts, texts, etc. Drhonk's kernels do not cause data loss, either, when you flash.
I did the same thing as you and, thus far, working fine. Not sure what's new/fixed/better in this ROM yet. Wifi seems the same for me as it was on KJ3.

I'm not trying to be 1. I switched from Blackberry to this Smartphone. My Blackberry YES! I got updates, Received 1 Update then received no updates ever again, Had to rely on Devs for support on the phone. Every device was suppose to get Blackberry O.S 6.0, did that happen? No!, Same thing seems to be happening here, Good phone, Now it's losing support, devs, and users, Exactly what happend to my Blackberry. ICS for this phone? I think Not! They'll butter you up just like they did with my Blackberry and getting the latest O.S. They'll keep throwing their words at us but I won't believe what they say anymore. It's called being FOS! But I'm hoping in the long run, I'm all wrong about this.
Someone needs to look through this and make sure it DOES differ from KJ2 unlike KJ3 then get it rooted, deodexed, ect ect.
Big dog Infuse I997 GB KJ2
If your not sure about using ODIN to flash this, wait till I get home, I'll remove the bootladders (already running KJ2 bootladders), and flash to test stability. Looks like Samsung is learning. :3

These are leaks. Basically Pre-Release Beta's....
At what point did you think this was official which is without bugs? I and most people here just don't understand what you are thinking. If you don't like running into errors, then don't bother coming to the dev section and complaining....
If you can't wait, then don't flash. If you want to explore then don't complain. Its basically how any dev section works.
I for one am more peeved at Galaxy S rom ports, which are not really developed for the Infuse, but oh wellz.... Hence stick with Infused Rom's
---------- Post added at 09:29 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:25 PM ----------
@OP Maybe also what might help is to classify it as a [LEAK] Instead of a ROM as its not a ROM per se because there is not customization or testing here.
I heimdalled it up. Bootloaders are different (barely).. modem is very different. Have not had time to disect/diff factoryfs yet.

Well I can tell you right away, the ROM does have a few fixes. Namely, the gallery works again and the funky issue - where you would see your home screen for a split second when you hit the power button to bring it out of sleep and before you actually unlocked it (I never saw anyone else report this but I saw it every time) - is gone.
EDIT: It's not gone I see now, but it is less noticeable.

There's nothing negative about getting the newest version. Are you trolling?

This just isn't Right somewhere. So what leak is what? UCKl2 and UCKl3 can't both come out on the same day can they? I wanna use the leaks, just not sure which 1 to download.

This has happened before. It doesn't necessarily mean Samsung skipped a build number. It may just mean that the the UCKL1 build was not leaked by whatever methods Przekret uses to get these to us.
But a big thanks to him just the same!
Sweet. Downloading now. Thanks for posting these leaks so fast.

FWIW, they absolutely *could* come out on the same day.

Maybe you should study their release info. The numbers are based on year, month, week. And this certainly isn't week 1.
Cranky...

They must really be rushing.
Are there two leaks out? I only saw the one from przekret (this thread) in the dev forum? I didn't see a "3" version out...

Hmm interesting. Well if that is the case, I wonder if they would re-use the "build number" if built in the same week.

Whoever doesnt want the leak get out. If you want it, quit your *****ing and crying about it and be grateful we got another leak. I am sick of people in these threads crying about everything. It gets old.
Deodexing rooted version for those who want it...will include stock kernel also...

I don't have my sim card in (I don't know if this matters or not - it seems like it would but who knows) and haven't educated myself about carrier IQ but I remember it was in the last leak. It does not seem to be in this leak or supercurio's app does not detect it as I used his app.

DO NOT FLASH THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please close this thread
It has always been customary for new model variant to hang in the closest relative section till mods decide if they want to dedicate sub forum for it or leave it as is.
For couple of years now we Co existed with Korean, Chinese and some g and p versions of sgs1 and 2, none of which were compatible with main international versions. Nothing wrong with that.
So let the mods do their work, and whoever can't read has only themselves to blame, so leave the thread and op alone.
Considering the op is the only nick I recognise as being active in sgs sections in this thread, I would assume he is familiar with what I wrote above.
Waiting for JKay mod on GT-I9300
I'll flash this if the O.P gives me £500 for a new phone

Dude, does 9305 have their section...? Not yet! Therefore it belongs here till mods decide whether to keep it here or dedicate it sub forum. Any domass that can't read 9305 in topic has only themselves to blame as I said.
And it's really stupid seeing so many newbylike posts asking to close thread. If you want to get mods attention, report the thread and let them decide.
Korean thread has been here for a while and it seems it will stay. Considering that 9305 and 9305t are pretty much Korean version with exception of the lte frequencies...

It probably wouldn't brick it. You'd bootloop, sure, but since the devices are near identical the worst case scenario would be an Odin reflash.

Very irresponsible IMO because their are people on here who just flash away without reading. Their own faults admittedly, but with threads hosting different roms it's kinda fueling the fire

The rom wouldn't flash on the phone anyway would it? Odin is cleverer than to do that.
Also, you could recover the phone if it did by entering recovery, hence the term recovery.
All this talk of bricking a phone is a little over the top IMHO.

AFAIK odin is not a human being.. So it being clever enough to match your phone with the firmware is questionable.. Also in the odin firmware there are recovery images as well as boot images.. Flashing a wrong recovery image and boot.img may brick your phone..
Sent from the iPoop killer ==>>>
Wouldnt brick i guess but trust me if ever a noob flashed this firmware and will cause a bootloop that noob will be in panic mode and will start a thread " help please my precious gs3 is bricked " so on and so forth.. imagine all the hassle lol.

This is pretty much spot on, that said I have edited the title to state that its for the I9305.
We expect people to read before flashing, if you cant do that, then you are not taking due care and diligence with a very expensive device, and I hate to say it, but you have it coming.
Also I would like to remind people to not spam threads with pointless posts, but to just report the thread if there is an issue.
