Though Most of you Might know this already But I'll post it for the new Users out there
So you have flashed your Rom Recently and are finding some trouble with your battery?
Does it dies too quickly? or you see those numbers going down very Soon?
There might be some Other Issues related to Battery drainage but most common problem the user might experience after flashing quite a few ROM's is Mis- callibration of the battery
To fix this install a market app known as battery callibration

You need to have a ROOTED device for that
program does it by removing the batterystats.bin system file. The OS generates a new clean batterystats file soon, thus any fake information from the previous ROM is removed.
When you reboot the phone after calibration a new batterystats.bin is created
IMPORTANT after calibration let your phone discharge to 0% and then charge it to 100% without break
DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK (although None is involved) I'm NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR
ANY SORT OF DAMAGE DONE.

Sure But as stated this is for new users Who are not well acquainted with recovery
Just following logic. If someone has started flashing Roms and rooting devices, I would be surprised if they had not discovered CWM

after doing research on all methods to recallibrate checking pros and cons finally i got the answer brothers...its very simple no need for cwm or drain full abttery kill your batery download recallibrate delete batterystat.bin....all fake bother....just do a simple step remove your battery for 2-5 minutes and than on it....you are recalibrated....simple
but what about batterystats.bin? Why is it there? ^^

Hey..it works,thanks for your efort in researching this
I'm quite desperate coz ever since I'm installing creed 1.7 seems like my bettery drain very fast,too bad coz I like this ROM. Last night I charged it to 100%,then I go to sleep(so my HH is idle) but when I woke up 3 hours later,my battery stat already drop to 84%,strange. So I try plugged out my battery for 5 mins and voila..now it's written 53% but it's been like that for half hour so maybe it's quite stable now. Thanks again dude
since 13 months i m using fit bro and the most annoying thing of android was battery backup so researched almost all sites of android and lion baterry ....checked alll methods of battery boosting from apps and ram clearance,...the battery stats.bin bro yup that you dont have to take care its android system which adjust itself and recalibrate when you make your android without power means no battery for a while and when you insert it again the system itself recognizes....killing your battery specialy lion reduces its self life also its the number of cycles so whenever you charge charge your phone to fullest not like every 5 min you are charging your phone once a day to the fullest just check what i said bro its really works just believe and c

However, as she explains, that’s not the case. Because those battery stats, stored in the batterystats.bin file, are only used to maintain information about what is using the battery when not recharging. That is, it essentially holds the information displayed in the Settings > Battery screen. Nothing more, nothing less. Thus:
It has no impact on the current battery level shown to you.
It has no impact on your battery life.

I did battery re calibration once and it made no difference at all, having a google engineer dis-miss all the myths is good enough for me buddy.

This work for me. Don't wipe battery. After install ROM, remove battery about 5 minutes and it is well.

Almost every Android phone. It is a known problem.
I don't seem to have an issue with it.
When it reaches 75%, my bar is 3/4s. When it's 50, its half-way...etc...etc...

Awsome job answering 3 questions with a random statement.
I know the phone stores the info about the battery in a file. This file includes the max charge the battery can charge too. There is a method somewhere on these forums that show how to drain your battery, wipe the file, then do a full charge so the phone can relearn the battery and the correct settings get saved.
I believe flashing new roms and doing storage wipes can cause this file to be removed and created with false info.

No... It has nothing to do with this. Every Android phone I've had... Regardless of whether it is brand new, stock, rooted, flashed, new kernel, anything... Doesn't matter.
May I know how many android phones you previously had?

You have tokinda program the Lion Batt internal charger first, you charge them full->run till dead--> repeat process 2 times and then the system will be way more accurate. Try this and reply in about 3 days the results.

Honestly, if "it" truly bothers you, why not just put the overlay ontop so you get the "real" percentage.
It's work just fine for me, usually +/- 3% at most, works great on froyo.

I'm trying to understand how android calculates battery percentage, and from my testing it seems that the battery meter is hard coded into each particular phone model. This link seems to kinda verify this.

How abouts do you calibrate the visual battery indicator at the top of the notification bar to be within 3%??
Are you talking about something else like the battery charge status reading?
I've experienced the same problem as the OP on all my Android phones as well. It is a problem when you think you have 75% charge and all the sudden you are getting low battery warnings.

I'm running Das BAMF 1.6.2, stock kernel.
I've noticed since I got the tbolt day one. Im in the 15% range when reboot. My screen freeze after lightning strike for 3 minutes. Was hoping the new update would fix it but update now delayed. Never again will I be the first in line for phone.

The percentage drops but it stays at whatever that percentage is for an hour or five depending on how much I'm using my phone.
because your battery gauge is lying to you and not reporting accurately prior to reboot.

So have you calibrated your battery since flashing 1.6.2?
If not you need to do so, as this will fix your issue, and help your battery life.

What do you use to calibrate it? Wiping the battery stats?

Basically the meter is lying because keeping your phone at 100% while charged is not so good for long term life of the battery. So once you get a full charge it doesn't keep the battery full, and when you take it off the charger the meter quickly catches up to reality.
So don't worry, it's supposed to happen this way.

How do I calibrate it?
There's an app on the Market called BatteryCalibration, works well.

There are several threads explaining this but you just:
-Charge to 100% and boot into recovery
-Select advanced>wipe battery stats
-Use phone normally until battery dies and it powers off
-Charge back up to 100% (preferably while still off)
Edit- if you are running das bamf you can also clear them from the toolkit.

It will fix the issue that the OP is having of the phone dropping % drastically when they reboot. If you are talking about the phone dropping from 100 to 95% or so after you unplug, then no it won't, because that is actually a safety feature that you do not want to fix, unless of course you want to burn your phone up.

No problem, if that is what you want then doing a battery stats wipe will do that. It should be done actually everytime you change ROMs or upgrade a ROM.
Just follow Dirtyfingers instructions, or use a Battery Calibration app from the market

No your phone stores how long it takes to die charge etc. and when you change roms these stats obviously change and therefore wiping the stats allows the phone to really calibrate to the new rom. At least I think that's how it is.

This happens to me and it annoys me everytime it does it. I dont know why for some reason this is a recurring thing with HTC phones.
My battery drops 10-15% rather quickly when I unplug it but I believe this is actually normal with newer Li-Ion charging techniques.
Mine drops about 5% after a reboot. I reset my batteries stats today and hope that will improve my battery life, but I must say I got about 8 eight hours today with fairly heavy use and a few reboots.
I have a question about battery calibration.
After I deleted batterystats.bin, the meter seems to be working fine (prior to deletion, battery meter was not correct - for example, only 50% battery was remaining, but battery meter would be around 70%.
Anyway, do I have to calibrate battery each time I flash new/upgrade ROM?
I've been changing to different ROMs frequently nowadays to find best battery ROM. So I was wondering if I have to calibrate battery each time I flash new ROM.

Honestly I dont think it matters much. I've heard arguments both ways but what I do is I calibrate when I first get me phone (or a new battery) and thats it. I get great battery like even going between roms

I don't agree with the word must. It would be a good thing after a few flashes but EVERY time is not needed.

Um.. no. theres a proper way to caliberate the battery.
If that was the case then I'd be wiping my battery stats everyday because of CM7 nightlies
But yeah, I'd probably say just do it if you feel that your battery life is awful. Maybe once every 3-5 months? I've had the NS since it first came out and I haven't wiped my battery stats. Battery life is still amazing, so I don't know.

Italian Job 1.0.0 - big battery drain and battery go dawn after restart by 30-60%!
XXMC8 - no battery drain but battery go dawn after restart by 30-60%!
Stock UK GB XXLK7 -no battery drain but battery go dawn after restart by 30-60%!
So I bought new original samsung battery 1500mAh - no changes
So I bought batttery 3500mAh with special cover - no vissible battery drain, this battery can handle my phone by ~ 20 hours of playing AVI movie, 720p in loop in MX Player so very good score but battery go dawn after restart by 30-60%!
All battery was tested in my Ace 2 and in my girlfriend Ace 2 (she have fully working phone with no problems) and she have good scores on all batteries but best is on 3500mAh with special cover ( above x2 than standard)
So i went to SSC and they: (stock GB, 0 flash counters)
- take my phone without documents on free guarantees (only box)
- I must come back for that phone in this friday
This above is for + but:
- they **** that work because I have in my ducuments copy a lot of bugs! (street , town)
- they checked my speaker in noisy room (it did not take nearly as booming)
- for those guys after restart when phone loses 30% battery power is normal!
So I go after tomorrow for my phone and we will see ( They will make updates to JB! and they change speaker/ charging module)

EDIT: 3 hours waiting for a response about taking my phone!
EDIT 2: that 3500mAh battery must be loaded 8 hours to get 100% form 0%. (standard charger )
I really want to know what the whole battery dropping after restart thing is about, forever happening to me and sometimes the battery completely dies. It was the same on my original Ace S5830 I got a few years ago.

I must agree with you guys regarding battery drain. It's suspicios and I am also aware of a fast battery drain from 100% to 65% in just a couple of hours, or very fast after a restart.
Maybe this is the way android should work. I was thinking there was a problem with my phone, but seeing similar behaviour with yours, it must be something related to the android system.
I'm on JB me1 and i haven't this battery dran problem. After the night i just lose 3-7% battery
When I have 100% and I off my phone and turn on battery go down to 50-60% immediately in one secund! It must by hardware foult...this is not normaly working android, for me

I thought that is not really a battery draining. But it just about battery calibrating. Your phone need to calibrate the battery. Thats the problem.

However, I've never done any battery calibrating..but I read in some thread, need to calibrate the battery, so there will be no battery misdisplay on the battery icon...logically, I thought, our devices will some time miscommunicate with the battery because there are no battery parameter to make the system understand how much the battery stored....
But I don't know if it just a myth...

its normal to see 99% when unplugging from charger, 3%-10%(Max) drop on rebooting. Battery is usually inaccurate after charging, what I do is plug it in then reboot. then it displays the right value after unplugging, usually my battery status is really inaccurate but it returns to normal afterwards (it'll show charging icon even when unplugged and charge to 100 then stops and returns to real level). I don't believe in this calibrations and have found enough proof its useless, I think most xda users agree too. Try searching some threads.

I have checked this website but there is no method for my problem, besides this website only seems to tell me how to keep the battery healthy, besides my battery is not damaged,its the indictor this problem started happening after I installed the pie rom, before installing this rom I tried the oreo rom and my battery were the same before i switched to custom rom,is this the bug of the rom ?

If your SOT run time is normal, the battery is most likely ok.
There are edits you can do if rooted but that's beyond my knowledge as to where/how to access them.
Otherwise try a battery calibration by charging to 100%, run until low battery shutdown, repeat.

Use the battery voltage to estimate the charge state of the battery.
If all that's wrong is a misreading you could just adapt to it.
You can try a hard reset (simulates pulling battery) and clearing the system cache but I doubt that will help. Worth a try.

When you say hard reset do you mean reset my phone to factory settings or delete all of my data from twrp ?

When you say hard reset do you mean reset my phone to factory settings or delete all of my data from twrp ?

It simulates pulling the battery and doesn't touch any data.
It's usually done but holding the volume control and power buttons down until it reboots on my N10+ if I recall correctly. It's hard to find this with a Google search but the instructions are out there, somewhere.
Of course if you have physical access to the battery you can simply disconnect/reconnect it.

On rooted phones there's a file edit you can do to fix that. I've seen it on XDA before. It doesn't apply to me so it was a curiosity.

My problem solved,its because the kernel when i try to reinstall my rom without installing the KERNEL then when i try it, my battery back to normal .
