Atrix 2 Music Player Sound Quality Improvement? - Motorola Atrix 2

Is there any way to improve the sound quality, its not horrible but Im wondering if it is, on here Ive seen something like this for the galaxy S2
"samsung-galaxy-s2-sii-via-dsp-manager-cyanogenmod-7-music-player" guess you all will have to google it without the quotes because I cant post links right now since Im new, but it should be the first link that comes up.
Do I need to have CyanogenMod installed (Which we cant right now of course) to use this or is it just the player ripped from there and I can install like a regular rooted app

If I'm not mistaken it should just be a simple apk. You can dump it in your system apps folder or install it normally. Those apps.are just heavily skinned and tweaked to work with a broader spectrum of devices. If.you get the music player can u upload it here as well?

Yeah, go to settings/audio effects and you can set two different profiles, one for the phone speaker and one for the headphone port, check it out.

By default the music player has a bunch of horrible sound effects enabled. Turn them off and I think you'll find it's much better.
settings - audio effects

thanx for the input I went through and compared it with the stock and poweramp and im not noticing an extreme improvement in the sound to justify removing the stock music app Ill just stick with poweramp and i did turn off the audio effects and it does sound much better too

Really the music app im referring to isnt that great either to me its simple which is ok but I like the functionality for poweramp better ie.. player screen available when locked etc... but Ill try to remember to post a link up once Im back on my comp but if you dont want to wait for me to post the app up you can google what Ive got in quotes and it should be the first link

PA is my music player of choice too.

Honeycomb Music app

Anyone using the Honeycomb music app? Im giving it a try it installed just fine for me. Works good and looks really nice. Give it a try, just google it.
Just got it. it works great and is better looking than the stock music player.

where is the apk?
Just Google "honeycomb music player apk". A bunch of links out there.
I like the player but the thing I miss is the ability to use the Inspires Dolby or SRS sound enhancements. They really make a difference.
I'm using it. It's pretty nice

Sometimes a really good pair of IEM's will cure the need for sound enhancers. IE7/8, Westone UM3, Shure 500 series. These top off the rack IEM's are why i love digital music.
i tried a couple of places but it never installs right for me
I just installed it two things bug me though. I there any way I could get it working as a replacement for the stock music player? Like making it work with the lockscreen and work right in the notifications area?
It's much better than stock even though it can be glitchy.

You would have to remove the stock app to make new one default.
I get the pause and play buttons on the lockscreen, is that what your talking about.

It must be because i'm still using sense. I'm going to flash a different lockscreen and see if that fixes it.
I removed the stock apk and sideloaded the honeycomb music player Is there a specific way to replace it instead of that?
where have you guys gotten yours? i want to use it but it never works

Internal EQ adjustment?

Is there any way to globally adjust the eq? I would like to tweak Pandora's output but can't. I saw a mod for the Droid, I think it was called milestone eq or something. If anyone has ideas or maybe something can be added to one of the upcoming rom's...
Thanks....

This shouldn't be in the development section, but I may include Voodoo sound in my next kernel. Then you'll be able to adjust a lot of settings.
Thx, I wasn't sure where to put it....

if it is a question put it in general untill we have a q&a section, it is safer there. maybe if the qiestions are development related (like you are in the middle of a project and need input and plan to post the project later in the same thread) you might get away with it.
to answer the question there is an eq widget in the market but i didnt care for the quality and there is an app called galaxy tuner (also in the market) for the i9000 and other phones with similar hardware that works on the infuse. dont use it on the external speaker(bug results in lost ringtones) but it works great for headphones. it also has a "3d sound" option that works pretty nice, better than any other audio enhancement i have seen on an andriod phone.
The problem with the marketplace apps is that they only work for music played in a music player, not streamed through services like Pandora. I'll check out the ones you mentioned though...

galaxy tuner claims to be a hardware eq, it is at minimum a global eg, it is not a music player but an app that sets many hardware and kernel setting that you otherwise dont have access to. it works! the eq widget (dont remember the name) also works but i never got a good balance out of it.

[Q] A Good Music Player, with Good Equalizer?

I am looking for a music player with a good graphical equalizer. I have yet to find one that works without flaws...
(Running MIUI ROM on an Inspire 4G)
MIUI stock music player:
Sounds good, equalizer is satisfactory, but you can't tell it what folder to pull music from. It just reads the whole phone. It has a setting that you specify minimum file size for, but that's crap. Should be able to just tell it where to find music and only load that music... It also skips/cuts off etc A LOT!
PlayerPro:
This player has a really crappy equalizer. The only positive I can think of about this app is the ability to use SRS enhancement in HTC phones that have it. This one skips/cuts out music more than any other app I have tried. No matter what happens, screen turns off, like 5-20 rapid cutouts. Quality of playback is poor. Accessing certain features are a pain and needs to be able to be accessed from Menu button while in the player, not just the main screen. But the cutouts for anything happening to the phone, browsing for the next song, volume up/down. Minimizing, screen on off. Huge/a lot of cutouts in playback.
PowerAMP:
This was probably one of the better apps. Great equalizer, very direct navigation to whatever you need. But this player also suffers from the cutouts when locking/unlocking or interacting with the phone. This app does have that Buffer setting, but even set to huge (725ms) it still suffers from these cutouts. And the update that came out today.. well that just screwed it up even more...
UberMusic:
Smooth, looks pretty, can tell it's a complete rip from Zune so I know how to navigate it at least. Cutouts while navigating the phone weren't nearly as bad, or didn't happen. The problem with this app is that it doens't have an equalizer. I googled, and found out that Fede (many may know him from that scam app LPP) promised to implement an equalizer. That same dev also promised a re-write of LPP be the end of 2010 and look where LPP is at.. completely abandoned for this music app. With that history I won't buy his music app until the equalizer is implemented. But based on what he's shown with LPP I don't see that happening for 932750923 years.
WinAmp:
Loved it on my computers since middle school... But for the phone, the cut-outs are almost as bad as PlayerPro, and it also has a pretty crappy equalizer.
Anybody else know of a good/smooth music app, with no cutouts in music playback and a good equalizer?
Thanks!
What do you mean by cut out, I use pamp and really smooth no problem whatsoever
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
Music playback like stops/freezes whenever the screen turns off, or on, or when I unlock, or when I hit menu, or when I hit any button on the phone. If I OPEN something, like browser, it chops like crazy.
It's Depend on your phone & rom. I normally use power amp & never have the problems you mentioned. It never cut out except when receiving incoming sms or call receieved.

Try double twist. If you like it i'd highly advise buying to unlock all features.
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda premium
Same problem with double-twist. Didn't even bother to check for an equalizer...
I guess the problem is with MIUI. Figured after years they'd at least have it compatible with music players that millions of people use..
Never have problems with PowerAmp here, either. Could the cutouts maybe be an issue outside of PowerAmp, like your memory card perhaps, considering that it looks like every app you use has them?
Probably a Rom issue, I have no such issues with either playerpro or poweramp

I had a similar problem a few phones back with HTC Hero and Desire. I had it underclocked on screen-off and an app-killer killing on screen off/memory killer. Both caused the music to "jump around" and/or kill the music. Underclocking sounds the more obvious issue here.
If not using either, make sure your SD card is class 4 or higher.
Poweramp had never failed me before, but now using google music on CM7 with DSP manager for the GMusic streaming...
Swyped from the past.
Discard this..
Google Music 4.0 with DSP Manager
I am using PowerAmp for an entire year and dont remember having a single cutout. You probably have a problem in your rom.
Yea I believe it might be a ROM issue, others in the ROM thread confirmed they also have this problem. I'm using the SD card that came with the phone, not sure what class it is...
Thanks for the tips!
ive tried all of the apps you mentioned except poweramp and none of them had "cutouts"

live with walkman for xperia play

Live with walkman app
extracted the live with walkman app and widget off the new sony ericsson Wt19 live with walkman phone tft 2.3.4 file it will install and update over the built in music player on the xperia play without having to change permissions if want the iconic sony walkman experience.
View attachment SemcMusicWalkman.apk
View attachment MusicWidgetWalkman.apk
note; this is not the old w8 red themed version.
for root users get the full walkman experience by adding the mega bass tweek see this thread ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1319533 )
note; you will only hear a difference in sound if you have good headphones (eg, big dj headphones or the older type of in ear) not the stock sony headphones that come with the play, as i think they produce sound (bass) in a different way.
Thank you for the upload, but it looks exactly like the default music app lol
Sent from my R800i using Tapatalk
yeah pretty much does lol but like the icon and the widget better at least its nice to have. now we have 2 of sonys iconic gadgets playstation and the age old trusty walkman in are back pockets + a phone of course.
I believe you should kindly edit your 1st post and say to all that people should apply the megabass tweak 1st before installing the walkman goodies
I installed the walkman stuff 1st and then flashed the megabass tweak and walkman was removed and replaced again by the stock music app Had to install walkman again but its okay
Will the megabass tweak stay after installing though? Im having a hard time telling the difference yet
Thanks!
EDIT: Tried to reboot to check and.. it reverts back to the stock music app.. do you still see it as Walkman after rebooting?
Now i dont know after reboot if
1. The megabass tweak is still on my system
2. If Im really having the walkman experience..
EDIT2:
Got it to work, installed it first, used Titanium backup to convert it to user app instead. Rebooted, flashed the megabass enhancer
*Cheers*
will try a second reboot
You don't have to factory reset or wipe cache in the recovery the mega bass tweek should just install also you will only hear a difference with eg Dj headphone the ones you get from Sony are not really compatible as they produce sound in a different way

Where do i insert the cassette?
Folks, the MegaBass tweak consists of pushing two files to a /system folder.
Do I need a root for this version of Walkman ?
no just install the apks with a file manager if dont like it go to applications and uninstall updates. the mega bass tweek is only for root
is there any different betweent the original music player with the walkman version? For example the lyrics, and any screeshot?
Thanks!

OMG!!!! With these and Mega Bass Tweak, it does hugely improve my music experience on my Play!!! Love it so very much!!!
I love listening to music, this is the main reason why I still stick myself with iPod Classic. But right after I applied this, my Xperia Play has such a great improvement in Bass and it totally increase my music experience with this little monster! I don't store many songs in my SD Card as I mainly use my iPod Classic but I have scrolled through many songs I have in my Play and their basses are super good now!
This is the best tweak I've met so far. You will need such a hi-end headset too enjoy the improvement here.
Thank you very much. VERY VERY VERY Recommended for the music lovers!

Physically, it doesn't change that much. Honestly, I could only see the different of the icon when I install this .apk music player, the whole program is completely the same for me.
I don't think you need any screen shot.

Not at all, but since there is no more changes than the appearance, you don't need high end headphones to install what amounts to a skinned stock player
I didnt mean it like that, i would just love to get it working on mine. Any one know what i would need to get it installed on my device. Thx. :/

Try Using Poweramp, its available on the android market, its the best one ive ever used, it plays nearly all file formats and even has an option to search for missing album artwork and editing id tags
I took a look at Poweramp, and promptly uninstalled it. Someone had recommended it to me (based on an earlier version), but the new version's UI is just so unbelievably messy it's not worth trying to navigate it at all.
I personally use Real Player. Gets the job done. I'm looking forward to when VLC player is finally available though.

PowerAmp's new UI takes getting used to, once you're used to it, it's pretty much the best player out there. Downloads missing artwork, VERY advanced equalizer, I think it supports Wide Stereo too, but the X Stereo function is the bomb!
Poweramp and PlayerPro are the most feature-rich options. I use Poweramp and I like it, particularly the music lyrics plugin, but its UI needs a serious overhaul. It's made more for a pimped ride's in-car Android user interface than for a phone. So much glitter, neon and pizzazz makes people want to puke and I can relate with it... however, it works nicely, it's got a powerful EQ and it works very well with BT headphones. A pleasure to use, horrible to look at.
I use the miui music apparently. Its nice. At least I like it and its my favorite music apparently.

Have started using Realplayer and the fact that you can change song from the lockscreen is a major biggie! (To me anyway) I think it's also got a nice UI to look at too.
