The App has been in development for some time now and has reached a pretty stable level - so I guess it's time to drop the closed beta restriction and expand the audience to get more feedback!
I plan to release the source-code when the app is a bit more mature, so you can verify the security claims - encryption is worth nothing if you can't trust the author
What do you think? - Try it out and post your feature suggestions, comments or other ideas!

Changelog:
v.0.3.8
* Android 3.x/4.0 Support!
* Reduced traffic usage when reconnecting
* Dialog when receiving an update from an unknown address
* New Position-Accuracy-Circle of received updates
Sorry for the text-only links and missing pictures - I'll update this post as soon as I've got the necessary post count!

Just the QR based verification seems like a major step forward for the WoT. Very nice looking project.

Thanks, yep using the qr-codes it's pretty easy to verify out-of-band. I've started writing a three way handshake using qr-codes, but I guess it isn't really necessary in real life

New Version released (v0.3.8)
* Android 3.x/4.0 Support!
* Reduced traffic usage
* vCard Sync-Frequency can now be configured via Settings
* Added a Dialog when receiving an update from an unknown address
* Accuracy of your current location and the accuracy of updates you receive is shown inside the accuracy-circle
If you're running Positron on an Android Tablet, please post your feedback!
Feature-Request, Suggestions, etc. are always welcome!

Hi,
What if I don't need a periodical updates.
I'd like just if someone wants to see my actual location, he opens the app, selects me and his app will send a ping to my phone which will once update my location and send notification back to my friend, who will then see my current location on the map. So that everything runs on the background without me even knowing.
No periodical updates, no battery drain, always current position.
I've been looking for such app for some time now, but without success.
Can you implement such functionality into your app?

On August 16, 2010 (5 days from now), the @twitterapi team will be shutting off basic authentication on the Twitter API — you can see the announcement here (and, this has been previously announced). All applications, by this date, need to switch to using OAuth. Don't fret! @twitterapi is here to help! Feel free to reach out to us directly, or via our Twitter Development Talk group.
The switch to OAuth is a good thing! You, as the application developer,
* don't have to worry about exposing the credentials for your users whether through a bug or other means (especially considering that a lot of people use the same password for multiple services);
* don't have to worry about the user changing their password — a user can change his or her password and the OAuth "connection" to your app will still work;
* don't have to worry about other applications masquerading as your application as only your application can set the byline with your application name;
* will eventually have access to more APIs from Twitter that will only be available to "trusted" OAuth-enabled applications; and
* give the @twitterapi team more visibility into the network — you help us identify your application when there are bugs, you help us plan for capacity, and you help us squash spam.
Just to review what will be happening: starting on August 16th, the rate limits on basic authentication will be reduced by roughly 10 calls/hour/day ending on August 31st. On the 31st, you won't be allowed to make any other basic authentication calls. In other words, if you don't do anything, you'll get more and more frequent rate limit errors as you approach August 31st. Starting on August 31st, any request using basic authentication will get a HTTP 403 response back.

[How to get it?]
FoxGSM is available via Android Market. Just search "foxgsm".
New version is avalable.
New version
Add new version, which reduced the requirement for the Android version from 2.2 to 2.1
I have one question to all users of Android in the U.S.
Based on the statistics that I get from the Google Market (Android Play) my program is mainly used in Russia and nearby countries, and almost never used in the United States. Maybe most people in the U.S. have unlimited tariff and they are not interested about current balance and the data on write-downs from yours phones?
Can someone tell me what's the problem?
Sincerely,
Alexander.

[APP][2.2+][GLASS] SecureTXT - Encrypted messaging done right!

Hi there.
I developed this app and companion web service for the sole purpose of being able to securely and privately message other people with the ease and simplicity of a normal messenger.
This is a multi-platform free messenger app that encrypts every message sent (client side) to be only decrypted and read by the intended recipient in a streamlined way. It is a fully featured version of it's web based counterpart sTXT - https://stxt.com
I also believe this is the first messenger that has Google Glass support. It's still in beta, so if you want to try it out, let me know and I can setup a beta channel on Google Play to have you guys test it out and integrate it properly.
Features:
- Fully Encrypted Messaging (nobody but you and the person you send messages to will be able to read them)
- Minimalistic Interface
- Google Glass support (in beta)
- Companion website (sTXT)
- Custom Entropy (Long-tapping on a friend allows you to generate a random cipher that can be used to encrypt the messages if you don't trust the apps encryption)
- Elegant privacy (I've made a couple of attempts here to prevent people from screenshot'ing your conversation with them, test them by changing message types)
- Multimedia messaging (images and audio can be sent to friends securely)
- Message Validation (by long-tapping on any persons profile image, a secure connection to stxt.com is made to open a webpage that verifies if the message is legitimate or has been tampered with)
Download:
- Google Play (see attachment for APK)
- Apple App Store (Coming Soon)
If you have any issues or bug reports please e-mail me immediately. Thanks.
Bump for some feedback.
Bump from grave.
Still bumping for some feedback and some new glass testers.
Just what I was looking for…
sweet if your claims are true this lil app is what I was looking for. Gonna test it out I'll post any feedback.

[TOOL] Free time / location / whatever tracking API

I was in need of a simple way to automatically track the hours that I spent at the office. There are a ton of time tracking tools out there, but I didn't want to trigger a button every time I start or stop working. That's why I created this simple JSON API.
You can find the API on GitHub: https://github.com/Steppschuh/PlaceTracking
I used IFTTT to automatically send requests to the API whenever I connect or disconnect the office WiFi. I've set up some public recipes that you can use here.
The API only serves 3 endpoints:
Users, representing the one who is using the API (e.g. you)
Topics, representing whatever you want to track (e.g. a project or location)
Actions, representing tracking events (e.g. starting or stopping to work)
which are documented in the GitHub repo. Basically, all you have to do is firing 2 requests for setting up a user and a topic:
Code:
http://placetracking.appspot.com/api/users/add/?name=John%20Doe
http://placetracking.appspot.com/api/topics/add/?name=Work
And that's it. Now you can add some events whenever you start or stop working:
Code:
http://placetracking.appspot.com/api/actions/add/?name=start&userId=123&topicId=456
http://placetracking.appspot.com/api/actions/add/?name=stop&userId=123&topicId=456
When you want to analyse what you tracked so far, simply call:
Code:
http://placetracking.appspot.com/api/actions/get/?userId=123
Please let me know what you think and if you have suggestions!

HyperTrack - The fastest way to build live location features [Android/iOS]

HyperTrack is the easiest (and fastest) way to build dynamic location features in your apps.
In three easy steps:
Step 1: You plug a lightweight and open sourced SDK into your app. Add a few lines of code in Android and iOS.
Code:
// Swift and Java
HyperTrack.setUserId("249d26da-c31c-4a70-bab8-53ef164411f0");
HyperTrack.startTracking();
Step 2: Watch your user's location data on a pretty looking dashboard. No code to be written, and did we mention, free to view for unlimited users and usage?
Step 3: Play with the data through events (via webhooks) and actions (via APIs) to build location features in your product within
minutes. All our dashboard views are easy to embed into your own workflow to create a seamless experience.
Code:
<iframe frameborder="0" scrolling="no" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" width="100%"
height="100% src="https://dashboard.hypertrack.io/widget/users/<YOUR_USER_ID>/timeline;action_id=<YOUR_ACTION_ID>?key=SECRET_KEY">
Tell me more
The SDK generates accurate, battery-efficient location and activity data using a bunch of black magic with device sensors, maps and business context. The location data is organized as trips and stops in the life of the user. Useful events are automatically generated along the way and available via webhooks. When actions are performed by the user in the app or expected by the business workflow on the server, they may be posted via APIs.
Unlimited trips, stops and events for unlimited users are free to view on the dashboard. Pay to play with this data and build location features within your product in minutes. To test your integration before deploying in production, we have a free test mode that lets you sandbox the API/webhook integrations with your users’ live data - up to 20 of them.
So What's the Catch?
Thanks for asking. The catch is... there is none. We are offering you the ability to add our location stack to your application and begin tracking immediately, for an unlimited time, for FREE. If you want to begin performing actions, analyzing trips, etc. then we have pricing which you can find on our website (https://hypertrack.io).
Compatibiliy
Hi,
Good to know about this. I wanted to see if this can be used with ibeacon to facilitate the functionality to track locations? iBeacon is a top way to add location based features in iOS and so if this can be used with it then it makes sense.
