On CM7, data does not work at all. I have a cellular signal, I can do calls, text messaging, wifi, and wifi calling works fine. I have tried toggling various settings under wireless settings, so it does not work regardless of GSM, CDMA, or both/auto. I have tried 2G only, which does not work. I have tried disabling any service controlling data, rebooting, toggling on/off.
I followed the guide in the dev forum on installing CM7, every detail. I used the recommended radio. The one thing I was not able to figure out is the APN settings. The APN panel is completely blank, and when I click add new APN literally nothing happens. Resetting to default and repeating does nothing.
I searched the forums to no avail. I'm currently trying various combinations of backups to see what else happens, but I may have to go back to stock.
On another note, I tried flashing the radio again and now I'm in a boot loop. I can't get into recovery because it checks for pg58img.zip and when I select no it just reboots the phone again. I'm away from my sd card reader at the time and obviously can't connect the phone for usb storage. So I'm currently phoneless as I'm writing this.
Help?
Edit: I finally cleared the system data for SMS MMS APM Dialer Storage and the APN showed up. Now it is working. This should be somewhere on the CM7 Sensation guide.

My 3g seems to have stopped working. Wifi works fine, and 3g works for a few seconds during startup, then the icon disappears and there's no 3g. The icon always disappears just before the second media scan (does everyone's phone do two media scans during startup?)
I've tried uninstalling or disabling various apps, but every time, the 3g is disabled at startup. It initially stopped working while using Google Navigation. One second it was working, the next, no data, and it hasn't been back since, bar a few seconds during startup.
I'm in a major metro area with coverage, that's not the issue. I tried resetting the ATT WAP to default. That didn't help.
I'd really rather not do a factory reset of my phone.
Can anyone think of any options? Thank you in advance!
Have you tried toggling it into Airport mode and back out? FWIW a similar thing happens on my Nexus One and Milestone. I will have a data connection then it just goes away. The only way for me to get it back is a reboot, toggling data off then on, or toggle airplane mode. I haven't figured out the cause as it happens across multiple devices and multiple ROMs. It may be my SIM card.
Thanks, I tried that. No dice.
So I got it fixed. I'll post this in the hopes that it might help others.
On a whim I downloaded several apps that toggle 3g. Both APNDroid and Quicksettings showed that APN was on. Toggling them off and on didn't help.
But Smart Bar showed that APN was off. Clicking APN on immediately made the 3g icon appear, and it worked. Thank you Smart Bar!
I've had some issues with the CM7 Toggles that came with NSCollab.
Last night, I tried switching from 2G to 3G. That worked, partly. I couldn't switch back to 3G after that, and I couldn't get any data to send. I tried switching it back on and off from the Toggles, but nothing. After rebooting, not only did 3G not come back on, but I kept getting an Error Message every 2 seconds having something to do with the android.phone not working. So then, I had to flash a backup and got the 3G working again.
Then, earlier today, I tried switching the Mobile Data and Data Sync off, but they also wouldn't come back on, even after rebooting, so I once again had to restore to a backup. I'm pretty new at this, so it could just be me being flat out stupid.
Are the toggles supposed to be this faulty, or is there a different way to turn them back on?
What exactly are Mobile Data and Data Sync?
Is it better to just leave 'em be, and turn just put it in Airplane Mode if needed?
That is a known issue with CM7, my advice would be to wipe data, reflash, then avoid the 2G/3G toggle. That's the only one with that issue so feel free to use the others.

Hi fellas
Upon flashing my G2X with the CM7 nightly build 123 & 124, I've found that mobile internet no longer works.
On the stock 2.3.3 gingerbread rom, it worked - so I can confirm that mobile internet definitely works on my phone, paired with my sim.
And yes I am using the same APN settings as before.
After installing build 124, i bumped into the notorious disappearing APN settings and thus tried flashing build 123.
Build 123 saves the APN setting - but for some reason the mobile internet just doesn't work. The 4G icon at the top doesn't show but i can still send and receive sms and calls etc.
I tried a restore to the stock rom and mobile internet works.
Does anyone have any idea what i should do?
If you do that would be great
(First time android user here - so i may have missing something very simple... so blurt out every possible solution you know)
EDIT: yes i do full wipes before each flash as well as a cache wipe, dalvik wipe and a fix permissions.
Also realised that after turning on airplane mode for a minute and then back off, that the apn setting disappears for build 123 as well.
:/
never mind
got it to work. the solution makes no sense at all and the logic that i placed all my pride upon has been crushed.
If this helps anyone in the future, i may as well post it.
Here are the steps i took.
Connected phone to wifi and downloaded an app called 'APNsBU (ROOT)' (Search for 'apn backup' in marketplace and it should come up on the list)
Then i set some apn's which disappeared and opened APNsBU (ROOT).
Set an apn backup within the app and then press restore (this will reboot your phone)
On reboot i went to the APN list again and found the apn that i had insisted should work.
Went to 'Network operators' and selected a network that it found which somehow registered. (It wasn't even the same network as my sim.. derp)
Searched online for the apn settings on the network that 'somehow registered' and entered them in and saved.
Press the holy green dot for the new apn setting.
?
Profit
This is the first help post for anything tech-related that I've ever posted- I'm usually good enough with Google to fix my own problems, but this one has me flustered.
Until yesterday I was running DigitalHigh's GPE ROM but decided to give Cyanogenmod another try after some persistent lag issues. Everything went fine during the install until I noticed that I was stuck on 3G no matter what I did- airplane mode, reboot, clear the cache, try to update APN settings, etc., nothing helped. Additionally, while the phone will connect to my home wireless network, it has a ! next to the connection symbol despite my being able to use the network with my laptop. The funny thing is, this only happens with some networks. Neither my home network nor the network at work will give me internet access, but if I plug an ethernet cable into my laptop and create an access point that way, I'm fine.
Here's what I've tried so far after scouring these and other forums:
-Reverted back to the previous ROM
-Flashed new firmware
-Flashed two new kernels
-Tried every different APN setting I can think of
-Popped out my sim card, waited a bit, and popped it back in
-Rebooted countless times
-Cleared every cache I can think of
-updated TWRP
There's probably more that I can't think of off the top of my head as well. Does anybody have any idea what on earth has happened to my phone?

I don't see factory reset using stock recovery (not twrp)
Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
As stated I'm using the LG G5 H830 T-Mobile variant. I am getting 4G LTE data connection and everything runs well (Not in any WiFi range) Yet for SMS and calling as well as mobile hotspot I get "No USIM card' error. This happened after wiping the system and formatting data. Rebooted recovery (as per instructions on forum) then installed the stock firmware & Patch with systemless root and xposed. After this I did factor reset when just pulling the sim didn't help. Still nothing. I reflashed just the stock firmware with TWRP and SuperSU and issue is still happening. I've disabled rebooted and enabled the phone radio. SIM is in good condition and tray as well everything is SECURE and should be good to go.
I'm assuming a new SIM might be a solution. But I'm not counting on it and with Labor Day tomorrow for me I wouldn't be able to pick one up for 2 days. So here I am...hoping someone might have a fix. I know I don't have many posts on here. But I am an experienced user....just not with the more basic of problems I guess
Thanks!!
Has anyone else experienced this yet? I'm just curious...I had it fixed for a couple days. I've formatted data and done complete system wipe. Tried it resetting phone with the COMPLETE zip and TOT using LGUP. I'm receiving texts. Not calls. Not able to send either. I've activated new sim, didn't help. LG support just told me to look into warranty. T-Mobile needless to say just wanted. Sim card does show stock tmobile short code contacts but phone number shows as unknown. Hotspot won't work. I've tried setting the phone number to the sim. Nothing.
Anyways. I don't think I messed with anything, even so I've done everything to start the phone from scratch. Going to replace it, just more or less curious at this point and maybe others have had the same issue.
I believe I had the same issue as you and it was driving me crazy. I was constantly wiping data, system, etc but my phone kept giving the message "roaming indicator off" where it should show the name of the carrier. This resulted in me having LTE data and that's it- no 3g, no phone calls, etc. I couldn't even access the mobile network menu.
What ended up causing the issue was the network mode setting under wireless networks. Keep in mind at this point I'm running a patched rom which now gives more options in the network mode menu than the phone came factory with. I have an area at work where I have to switch to 3g, GSM/wcdma preferred network setting, because although I have full LTE signal, my connection goes dead. When switching back from 3g I chose the setting lte/CDMA thinking this would force my phone to stay in lte mode due to another area on an upper floor where the phone will constantly drop lte.
Anyways this resulted in my phone saying roaming indicator unavailable, the inability to make or receive phone calls, and either the mobile networks or network mode menus being grayed out. When stuck in this mode there is no way to put the phone back into the standard "GSM/wcdma/lte" mode. Even a complete reflash won't fix it. I even used lgup, which worked for maybe a day until it force closed the phone app and went back to roaming indicator unavail. I wiped every partition and even reflashed radio firmware. Nothing worked.
What ended up fixing it was using an app called v10 hidden settings which allowed me to access the network mode menu directly and re-choose the lte/wcdma/GSM setting. Incidentally on first access to this menu through the app there are only two network settings available. Once you choose a GSM setting, the rest appear.
I'm not sure if this was your issue but I hoped this helped because this took me about a week to workout.
