Hello,
Just registered in hopes of finding an explanation/solution as to why my battery on my Tbolt is getting such short life.
I'm running CM7 7.1.0, and I've tried both the AOSP lean kernel as well as the newly released Zoom Kernel and I'm still only getting around 10 hours of battery life with average Wifi usage.
I've tried using all of the suggested governers with each respective kernel, and have tried underclocking to 768 max, and I am still getting just better that stock battery life.
Any experts care to share any tips? Should I clear my battery stats and re-flash cm7?
Thanks!

I am running Faux-AOSP-1.3.1 with the Trinity kernel 2.6.32.45 overclocked to MHz. I turned auto brightness off. I have profiles setup in setcpu for calls, screen off, charging, battery temp, and battery level all set to 1000MHz. I have a crap ton of apps installed and no live wallpaper. Yesterday I used my phone to make phone calls, text, emails, xda, download some apps, picture messaging, and Facebook. I woke up this morning and I had almost 20 hours on that charge. I think that is excellent battery life for a 2.3.5 ROM that is not Miui. I know Miui gets awesome battery life because I have used that before but I could not believe that I got this kind of battery life out of this ROM overclocked so much. The quadrant scores are between 4500-4900. I have yet to have a screen of death, reboot, or freeze on this ROM and I have been using it for the past 4 days. I just thought that I would share this with everyone.

I've always experienced outstanding battery life on Faux's AOSP 1.3.1 (he mentions there's a 1.3.2 in another post but i've been unsuccessful in tracking it down). I don't get those screaming quadrant scores you get but Faux's AOSP is a battery sipper!
EB 2.3.3 version 1.0.7
I got over 18 hours of battery life with charge, moderate use, and didn't have to do anything other than flash ROM.
Its about the only thing that sucks about CM7 based ROMS, battery life just terrible and a bunch of modifications are needed just to extend battery life.
Stock 2.3.3 based ROMS aren't so bad, except that Netflix don't work, Lock Screen doesn't have music widgets, and music player widget sucks.
I generally get around 20 hours with faux, too bad his kernel wont work in the new nightly yet
Okay I'm planning to buy this phone and decided I am going to use CM9, just wondering what kernel I should use stability and performance is key, I don't mind battery life I can cope with charging every night as I do this now with the worlds worst phone (iPhone 3G) fully charged this morning (8:00) now 30% (17:15) all I've used it for is a little browsing and at most 2 and a half hours of music at mid volume and sent a few texts. So to wrap this up what kernel would you recommend stability ranks higher than speed but speed is important battery mind I can cope with as long as it is better than my iPhones :') If anybody already has CM9 post some screen shots :')
either franco or glados will give you the best of all worlds (performance, stability, battery). i'm not partial to either, i just flash whichever was updated more recently.
Trinity kernels
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
I'm sticking with Franco's since it's done wonders for me on GB.
Using it on ICS now and it's stable and fast.
Greetz
i haven't try ICS yet, but in GB i suggest FRANCO , it's damn good
about battery , it happens to all smartphones ...
only you thing you can do for hard usage is buy an extra battery or extrenal power , thank god our phone's battery is replaceble not as iPhone which is UNreplaceble...
I like mathkid. I used franco on gingerbread but i feel mathkid 11.5 ics is better on ics

Hmmm, what's it like on the performance & stability side?
i think franco's kernel is good ..
Franco Kernel hands down.
He frequently updates his kernel usually on a weekly basis as of now and contains all of the power saving tweaks (Lazy Govenor, DEEP IDLE, BLX, TouchWake Live OC ... this guy is good) created by the creator of the GlaDOS kernel Ezeekel.
He does not have any debugging tools running in the background (as other kernels do) for optimal performance.
Hello I am wondering whats the best kernel for battery life on CM7 would it be faux or stock? And plus can I just install the faux Cm version start at 1.0 ghz to 1.4ghz, so by overclocking it means it will have less battery life? Could I just install that kernel and leave it at 1.0 ghz? And is the faux kernel better than the CM7 stock in terms of battery and what about performance?
New to this stuff!
Thanks people!
What CM7 are you running? It makes a big difference. Also, battery life is different for every person. So to say one kernel is better than another is based on your use. Now I did notice a difference in battery life and performance when I flashed Faux's kernel. But best advice? Wait a couple days on stock, see how it is. Then flash Faux's or the any other kernel(as long as it CM7 based of course), to compare the results. Of course when your comparing make sure your phone usage is the same, or as close as you can get it

Ya. I flashed the DS OC/UV v.0.4.8 first but like faux says the battery readings were crazy, going up and down all time, I didnt know how much battery I had left. And this was after I calibrated my battery of course. Im using the CM OC/UV v.0.4.8 kernel and its great! Great performance and awesome battery life! Right now I got 38% left with moderate to heavy use on 10 1/2hrs. I posted a few screenshots of my battery use using Battery Monitor Widget Pro. I couldnt post the battery use one cause I rebooted my phone a couple times changing my theme. It reads like 2hrs on battery instead of almost 11. Also I posted a Antutu benchmark score as well. Try one see if it works, no two chips are the same, if it doesnt, he's got 4 different kernels. Plus there's the other kernels that I havent tried yet. Hope this helps!
Overclocking will reduce your battery life but increase your phone's performance. Use an app like SetCPU to choose your clockspeeds and voltages. I don't recommend messing around with voltages until you're much more familiar with over/underclocking.
I've used faux's kernels off and on and never been able to get my G2x to be rock solid stable versus the cyanogenmod kernel but it certainly did increase my battery life by a noticeable amount. Right now I'm running the Trinity ELP kernel and undervolted it even further and I've had absolutely zero issues. If you try faux and don't like it, give Trinity a try.
I prefer Trinity ELP or Faux DS versions if I am in battery savings mode depending on the ROM I am using.
Hi!
Ok, i'm not good in writing especially in english so here we go
From all kernel that has been released lately, which one do you recommend for having the best battery life in term of standby??
My opinion is Sebastian's kernel in ARHD 6.5.1
it gave me mostly 2 hours for 1%
but i have new problem now cause i flash ARHD 6.5.3 and then restore boot from 6.5.1 NAND back up and now my wifi gave me error
(but this is my problem, not yours )
Come on guys, give me your opinion
I'm currently running Hyper NonSense with the default kernel - I think it's Faux that's cooked into the ROM but unsure of this. Between the ROM and the kernel, I'm getting the best battery life I've seen with this phone. Easily have 30-50% left at the end of the day with moderate use; haven't actually benchmarked it more carefully than that.
Any update on this? My sensation doesn't even last a day...
Best kernels right now are Faux kernel
Sebastian FM
Bricked kernel
I myself have found that bricked uses the less battery, but try them yourself and decide which suits your needs.
I'm using Faux right now with HyperNonSense and I would say it's a good balance between battery saving and performance. One thing to keep in mind is that the higher you OC the more juice it'll drain. So far I've always capped my CPU to 1.24Mhz and I've never had an issue with performance. During light use I can get more than 30 hours in a full charge. If it's a moderate use, I'm still able to touch 24 hours. Oh yeah I'm using Anker 1900mAh.
Which radio are you gents getting good performance with decent battery life? I'm kicking around T989UVMC6 and it seems to be more power hungry but perhaps its just my area. I don't think this is very good battery life as I've barley used my phone today. I'm considering buying the battery for the nexus as it has a little more capacity and I've read it fits but I'm waiting on confirmation.
Anyways..I'm testing slimbean 3.1.0 build 3 with the T989UVMC6. I'm thinking of trying the LV kernel, what governor and I/O scheduler are providing good results for you guys?
And this battery: EB-L1D7IVZ

Is this the one your referring to? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2025488&highlight=bluelightning+x2
You running the standard JB one and not the GPU OC one? You seem to be playing with all the roms and kernels to..how would you compare it to LV kernel. Also, what radio are you using? Does it seem like my cell standby time is high in that screen shot? I have only made two phone calls and had the screen on a few times for a few minutes today. The phone was at 100% at the start of the morning and has been very idle so i'm surprised to see it so drained.

On page 5 on that thread is the link for X2. Flash X2 then the GPU OC Zip.. Using UVMC Radio. Haven't flashed LZ in a while so i don't know.
I'm using BlueLightning with Conservative and SIO, minimum frequency is 348 max is 1188. It's not the best combinauon if you prefer performance, I get about 18 or 19 hours of battery life I'm also using the same radio as you BTW .
