After the Android 2.3.5/Sense 3 update I have Google Maps at v 5.8. Market tells me there is an update, but when I select the update it just sits saying "loading" for ever. Any ideas? Thanks.
The new market is ALWAYS telling me there's an update for an app that's already up to date. Its a bug. Check the version on the market, and compare it to the version you have installed. Chances are they will match.
To stop the false update notification, go to market in manage applications, and hit 'clear data'. That should do it.
Its this bug (amongst others) Withe new market that keeps me flashing the old one back.

They are different
I'm on Maps 5.8. Market says 5.11 is available. It just never seems to find it!
Fair enough. This Web site provides several mirrors to download the apk from directly...

Sorted
Thanks for the link, but not needed. Update worked through Market this morning so maybe the Market server was having problems yesterday whereas I was suspecting the update to Android 2.3.5.

I've found clearing market cache in applications sometimes works with this prob or going into recovery and wiping cache partition should work as well

Hello, I have an htc Evo 4G and running CyanogenMod. A few weeks ago I was unable to download SOME Apps from the Android market.... So I started reading some posts about people having the same issue... Someone said that the solution was to delete the cache from the download manager, market, and market updater. After I did this.. im now unable to download ANY app from the market, not even Install from the Sd Card. I just see the download arrow for less than a second and it disappears. I go back to the market... and the progress bar says downloading and it stays there , nothing happens.
Is there a fix, do i need to take my phone to get flash again...
help please
Try down-grading to previous version of Market by removing update and using Titanium. Check the CM7 Nightly thread on Inc S
Hi,
had a similar problem on HD2 with a different CM Build of course.
After reboot the download started automatically again and application has been installed. Since then market downloads were working fine.
WHY? - Who knows, but not me.... ;-)
Probably this will help to solve your problem.
But first try out the downgrade of market App recommended by "ashishling".

I've had a similar issue before on my My Touch 3G Slide. After some research I found that Google Talk is some how linked to the Market. Try opening that app on your network first, making sure it signs in with your account. Then try downloading your apps from the market. This has worked for me every time I ran into that issue.
Hello
I have jus upgraded my Nexus S to ICS OTA (manually) and cannot install application that I own. It cannot be found in phone's market and on the page in my desktop computer it says that this app is incomatible with my Samsung Nexus S. Can sth. be done? I have bought this app, this is crazy that I cannot use it!
When i updated to ICS i couldn't find ES File Explorer in market, no idea why not. However from memory i fixed it just by googling the name and clicking on the market link, then opening it with the market app (option pops up). Alternatively, the market now has a sync feature, click install on your computer browser and it will "send" it to your phone (ie. download it from market automatically).

That's not Google's fault. The developer of your app restricted it based on android version number. Complain to the app developer.
App author needs to update version and possibly updates it for ICS compatibility. Not ICS fault. Here's a workaround: if you have another Android device that can install the app from the Market, extract the app apk using Astro (app backup), copy the apk to your phone's sdcard, and manually install it.

Not app's fault
I had this happen with a bunch of apps on my Optimus V and I really don't think it's the devs' fault. I was looking through Tripit's androidmanifest.xml file and there are no device restrictions (besides SDK minimum of 3). Also when I try to install them manually, I just get "application not installed". It's driving me batty, I might have to downgrade.
After lots of reading through this site and others I successfully rooted and installed CM9 on my Nexus S.
How do I get Google Maps back on my phone? It's my main issue.
After flashing the ROM I immediately flashed the GAPP package. Did something go wrong that prevents me from having Google Maps as well the the Navigator program?
I am ready to try to flash the GAPP package again from Clockwork Mod Recovery.
Can I just use the "Install ROM from SD Card" option in ROM manager to install the GAPP.zip file?
If not I assume I should just boot into recovery and run the GAPP.zip file?
When I installed the ROM I was only able to do so after disabling the signature check as I kept on getting an "e-signature failed" and abortion of the install. Was I correct in moving the check?
Thank you in advance.
..
I have wiped totally clean before the installs and it just seems like Google Maps isn't in the GAPP.zip pack. Everything else is there. Are you suggesting that signature verification would prevent one program like Google Maps from being installed?
I used CWM to install the pack again and same results. Everything there except what I assume are more proprietary apps...Google Maps and the Navigation. I don't know what others Google considers proprietary.
..
Just install it from the market

I downloaded the .zip file you used and still can't seem to find google maps in the .apk files...very strange. As I could have sworn I saw it there earlier.
Does anyone know what is happening or how I can get google maps in working order?! It almost prevented me from scoring a phone number from a good looking spanish woman tonight.
Install it from the market. All the gapps that you can download from the market are not in the zips. Earth, voice, videos, music etc.
If for reason its not in the market on your device use the web version or market enabler.

That will probably not work because of the fingerprint of these alpha builds. It's not in the Market on my phone, for instance.

Which alpha build are you using? Maps should definitely be available in the Market.
..
If someone could direct me to a working APK that would be great.
You have to understand that I am in China, so market-wise google maps isn't available, neither is skype, neither are alot of the VPN programs etc. Or at least I assume its because I'm in China....also browser wise its pretty damn hard to track things down that aren't blocked. Haven't got around to installing a VPN but it would kick ass to get help to get a free vpn up and running too.
Nonetheless I have definitely installed the GAPP.zip file correctly after a good wipe of everything. I am pretty certain it should work since maps.google.com through the browser seems to locate me and load the map ok.

Is Dropbox blocked? http://db.tt/KIiPq4QQ
@jesusice Thank you and no Drop Box is not blocked. I was successfully able to download and install the map file. Everything is in proper working order as far as I can tell.
CM9 and ICS = success. It is snappy and have yet to have any issues with the system. Just my abilities!
I am thinking of starting another thread titled: "Why[Not] ICS and WHY [Not] CM9?"

I hear that Market Enabler is what you need. Should allow you to make the Market think you're in a country or on a carrier that does allow the apps you want.

You need to choose a American carrier to use American market. And of course you need root access.

Setcpu will not update from Google Play (error 403) . I do not have this problem with other apps. Thanks
Was this ever solved? I've been searching forums/web for a while, but haven't come across anything that can help.
Clear data and cache of play store and reboot your phone....

I've tried that multiple times, but no luck.
I did have the xda version of setcpu installed, and since i wanted to get the new version and support the developer, i uninstalled that and tried to download the market version. The market version says it has been purchased (i haven't purchased yet), and when i try to install, it gives me the 403 error.
use no-frills CPU control instead. that works for sure
Well, it's working without problems for me dude. Maybe it's a compatibility problem with some cellphones, at least in this Galaxy Ace works without problems, i'm using the Market version.
did you ever resolve this? iH ave the same problem right now....
ok, I have worked out my problem but I have no idea on how to fix it.
I have never purchased SetCPU (I didn't think so but google play was telling me otherwise).
How do I know? I have checked google wallett, which shows me my complete google purchase history and its not on there.
so, not sure where to go from here I spose I need to wait for them to respond to me emails.
market will realize that setcpu is on your phone, so offer the update, when you try to update market says "you can't have it because you've not paid for it via market " the only legit way to solve it, is by backing setup up, uninstalling it and buying it, maybe not what you want to here, but the practical way forward
yeah, I get that and that is what i Have done. I have uninstalled it. it is no longer on my phone.
but, when I go to google play (not on my phone, but on my computer) and check my account. under my applications its there, saying its purchased. I try to install it via the web and it does nothing.
There is no way to purchase it from here, it thinks I already have (the web page), because as mentioned its no longer on my phone.
somewhere something has gotten confused.
have you tried with another Google account? if need, create another account and see if it will allow with the new .
not ideal, but is a work around .
Here is the newest SetCPU dl link:
ht tp:// w ww .megas hare. c om /399 5376 (without spaces)
yeah, I tried my wifes account, but I do not want ot b uy it on that account. the issue now lies with the account not the phone.
have you renamed that file/download to sc02.apk? just want to make sure i downloaded the right thing.
thanks

Is anyone else experiencing random play store crashes when updating applications on the note 10.1

It happened once earlier today when I was doing some manual updates. Running latest update of JB stock.

Its note your device its google.
I tried to update 3 Samsung based apps on Google and download speed was terrible.
I stopped the down load on the play store and then stared the updates on the Samsung app store and the download took only a few seconds, it was speed that Google previously had.
The issue is still happening at the time of this post, it is becoming very irritating.
Does anyone know how we can flood Google with complaints or has anyone complained and got an official reply?

Me too...totally stock GT-N8013 running 4.1.2, not rooted.
Yup. Every once in a while I'll try to manually update my apps and the Play Store will force close on me. It's happened 3 times already just this morning. I have the N8013 that's running on stock JB + root.

I'm not rooted but ......... Have you tried to install the new playstore apk that is out there to see if it helps?
You may have to do a factory reset to fix it.
Good luck.

Hi there,
If anyone still encountering FC/not dowloading apps for Playstore or market, it might also be the cause of new partition or something like that, you can try this another option freely other than fixing permission of vending.apk on /system/app/..
This might help you guys .
1. check if cache folder has "download" folder inside it, if it no download folder then create one inside /cache, e.g. mkdir /cache/download.
2. then chmod the /cache folder to 777, also make sure the com.android.vending folder is present inside /data/data/ folder.
3. You can achive it through shell terminal.
Hope this helps you guys fix the FC(Force close or not downloading apps on playstore or market).
Thanks
