Freelance Android application development

Hi folks,
I am interested in starting freelance android application development. I have a year of experience in developing android applications and background services. It was only recently that i decided, I needed to make some money using this skill, but unfortunately I'm from India and hence i cant publish paid apps to the market. Also, you guys are the best source of ideas for apps. So start demanding your ideas here and i could get down to realizing the best ones. I don't plan to charge for the applications, but donations would be welcome. Of course, that would come into the picture only once i have the apps ready for you.

Yes we lack many features like two way call recording (now available only in chinese version), gtalk with wifi as optional (i mean even under gprs), full HD (1080p) video playback & many other formats, face detection while unlock, graphic support & performance, speed & so on....
If really interested why don't u start off with some custom ROM based on any recent version & kepp adding new good features (not some themes & colourful stuffs).
By sure donations will follow if proved.

there is an app on the market, which allows you to pick up calls by shaking (old stuff, rather boring) or by just holding the phone to your ear (using proximity sensor, awesome stuff - it's magic! ). Sadly, it doesn't work correctly, and picks up your call even when the phone is in your pocket. So my idea would be to program a similar app, which does it right: Picking up calls just by holding the phone to your ear. Very useful when wearing gloves or with dirty hands
I already have an idea to fix the problem: If the sensor reports "dark" when a call comes in, the app should not pick up, but wait for the sensor to report "light" for a second or two and then take the call when it is "dark" again. Meaning you could take the phone out of your pocket, and it would take the call when you hold it to your ear.
By the way: The app which does it wrong is called ShakeCall.

I would like to see nothing just video gtalk or any front facing camera video chat app (please don't suggest tango or fring they all SUCKS!!!!! ) But it needs drivers level knowledge . You can find video gtalk for sgs in app section and try to port it to our phone.

Sounds exciting XDA_Bam. I could just make a background monitoring service that does this task. Deep diving now, as im still waiting for the MIUI apk from vivek.

buddy if it that simple then why codeworkx is fighting so much with it...its related to camera drivers...!

What i'm upto
I have experience in android application development. User space, and not kernel/native level
programming.
Please do not ask me to join codeworkx in his attempt to grace our devices with cm7. He's pissed off as it is.
I have currently decided to work on vivek's idea, to mod our systemUI as per the MIUI notifications and toggle design. That too, is a new area for me,as i have experience in developing new apps instead of modding existing android framework components. Still i'm willing to give a try.
After that i will probably look at the call auto answer based on proximity sensor, accelerometer & brightness sensor.
P.S - Keep those ideas flowing

Is that all the ideas that we could come up with ? We need to keep this thread alive for us to benefit from it. Please dont stop sharing ideas here. Calling other devs too, if you have enough time, i'd love some help.
P.S - I will release a beta version of the CallMagic application in a couple of days. Hope you guys find it useful.

Can you make ICS like progress bar
In our phone the progress bar is based on color settings in progress_horizontal.xml in framework-res.apk but in some other roms there is special images in framework-res.apk for the progressbar

Moded Dialer tab & phone apps.

dude, u can extract & take only phone.apk & dialertab activity.apk & manually replace it in ur system app. change the permission to rw-, r--, r--. But try the launcher also, it's so smooth (previously i was using only go launcher nothing else suited me till i met this launcher)
Now uploading the same package but now with looooooong waited call recording fecility for KPQ. yes i meant it. It's working both ways....enjoy.

s buddy, if u aplly my entire zip, battery icon will change & launcher shall have option to choose (means both the lauchers shall be available). Instead if u want only dial pad & phone UI u can apply as i said above.

Call recording ERROR
i am on KPQ+posidon RC1 rom
If i use the direct recoding button during the call the phone crashes after the call(the phone process hangs and forcew closes no recording is saved and the only way is to restart the phone)
If I use third party software like total call record.. there is lot of disturbence in the background and the audio is not audible..

Incase if u want call recording function, just take lib folder files, phone.apk, phone util.apk & dialtab activity. push it to concerned folders in system/. when push it manually, don's miss out changing the permission & also u may encounter force closes till u reboot.

[MOD] Skype working well 100%, rotation issue fixed!!

The senior member Theos0o has created a skype mod for our i9003, you can download it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20781120&postcount=1695
The video works well, and now appears the option to rotate the camera during a video call, so the rotation issue, can be corrected during a videocall now. I've tried a video call between skype PC and my i9003, and everything works perfect!
Today is another happy day for our community, we already have two videocall app working prefectly: Tango and Skype.
Between this, and the advances in CM7, MIUI, Kernels,.... we can be happy and proud of our community.

the cwm flashable is made for SGS1 only
if you want to test it on other device pushe those files manualy previously backing up original ones
note that you will have to delete original Talk.apk, new file is named Talk2.apk

But not work well, no sends sound, very low fps, and only works in landscape mode only (if we put the device on vertical/portrait mode, phone reboots), and in landscape have rotation issue as happened with skype before your mod.
This reboots issue happens too in the current market apps: google+ (hangouts) and yahoo messenger from the market. But this apps send sound, and fps better, but have rotation issue and reboot phone if we put the phone in vertical/portratit mode.

And running on your skype v13, rotation issue can be fixed manually, but the image does not get full screen, has black borders on the sides (or up and down if you put the phone in portrait mode), when the rotation with the front camera is fixed, do not send the image to full screen, send with black borders.When I send the image with the back camera, videois full screen, and with the front camera too, but when I fix the rotation issue on front camera, the black borders apper.
You can get an idea with these images, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19771315&postcount=10 , when rotation issue with front camera is fixed appears black borders, and when to I rotate the camera and there is no black borders but rotation issue.
You can fix it adding to change the resolution? ? Although this is a very minor problem.

im alreaady using Gtalk 1.3..but its useless A I CANNOT DO VOICE CHAT, CANT HEAR VOICE IN A VIDEO CHAT....THATS WHY I WAS ASKING UNKALO ABOUT FIXING the problem in Gtalk...

But the person who can fix those issues is theos0o. He made the mods for skype and gtalk, and he have the knowledge to do that. We must to wait for his work.

Quantum.. Screen resolution of the app is the problem. I tried it on my XperiaS and the button was a bit above than the usual spot.

What can I do? Make a different version for every device?

JoyOS 1.2.2 alias iOS UI for Android
Base ROM is Marcellusbe´s CM7.2.0 Alpha 8.3
Working/NonWorking is the same as CM7.2.0 Alpha 8.3
1. Simple Copy and Pase zip to your SD card
2. Install it from CWM
3. Wipe data and factory reset
4. Reboot
5. No more call bug but Phone.apk is not themed
Known Bugs:
2. Joy Home have little bug - desktop icons are blured but have transparent status bar BUT Espier launcher, works without problem(and available update).
Recommendations:
- Videocam illusion app -> Working for recording videos (with stock camera app in CM7.2 is not working)
- Imo instant messanger -> Multi-client IM (skype, facebook, msn, and lot more)
- Advanced task killer -> set up auto kill (aggressive, when screen off)
- CM settings -> disable boot animation, Compcache RAM usage 26%
- Don ´t use MIUI Launcher - slow, not for our GPU
This port is very smooth, first boot can be slow, on start up can be an error message (click force close and everything will be OK)

Incoming call no problem, outgoing other person cant hear you. I will happy if some developer can help me

Oh good try buddy , but i guess you may not know they're several other GB/CM7 based ROMs with this bug .. I hope all of you guys who port work as a team fix this one bugging bug !! I cant use as my daily ROM
looks good though!!

Your girlfriend is looking nice good to see another porting but the known bug is in all the ports so please try to fix the caling issue

I am not developer android developer, but i have experience with java programing, today i will learn the structure of Android, this is first step to start fixing

I don't think it is very smart to be showing a mobile number in some of the screenshots so I think you should take the screenshots with mobile numbers off.

It is my own number, I sent SMS and call to myself. I understand your opinion if the number is not my.

Try fixing the calling problem by copying some library that start with "libphone???.so". I've ported both Sendu & Lezo and both of them don't have the call problem, but I have no idea why the user have the call bug And also wipe data as well.
