Liquid Smooth Major Bug - Thunderbolt General

So I was messing around with my Liquid Smooth lock screens. I came across this one (I don't remember the name of it though..) and whenever I try to unlock it it reboots and I can't do anything. So, how do I fix this? I can't unlock to change it because it just reboots.
Here's a picture. I think it's like the 4th one down in the menu. I'm assuming you grab the lock and take it up.. then it just reboots
I'm just going to factory restore it again. Just so everyone knows, don't use this lock screen if you have liquid smooth! D:

That's the new ring style (Used in the CM builds for our phones, I believe) But, I never had a problem with it. lol. You can drag it up if you want, but you just move it from its spot and it'll unlock (or go to app) but, I just suggest wiping user data then trying it again.

Help Please

I have a strange problem with my Hero that is hard to describe. Even before I rooted my phone I had this problem which leads me to believe it could possibly be a hardware malfunction. Anyways..
The problem is that over time after a complete wipe and flash of a custom rom (I've tried several) that my phones slowly deteriorates. It will be running fast and great for a week or two and then its starts to slow down to the point where it is completely unusable and I am forced to wipe and flash again. While its acting this way I have tried killings tasks, emptying cache, hard resets... every simple solution I can think of....
The other odd thing is that I use my phone very lightly. I only install 4-6 apps and those are the basics like pandora and such...
And I'd like to add that maybe I'm wrong about my phone acted this way when I had 1.6 official on it. It's been awhile.... so maybe I corrupted something when I rooted my phone for the first time?
Really I wish you could see the way my phone acts... its ridiculous . I would take a youtube video of it if I wasnt too lazy too. Crazy stuff like it taking a whole 30 seconds to a minute for a unlock pattern to finally go through, Or how when I try and type a phone number its like 3 or 4 presses "behind" as I type ( and im not typing quickly) or when I try to scroll through my contact list it just gets stuck and then finally it "catches up" and stutters all the way down to the bottom because of how many swipes I attempted.....
...help
have you tried.....?
Have you tried to run an RUU of eith 1.6 or 2.1? if you runn an RUU it will clear out any lerking "software" issues and then just re-root and try that out then try a custom rom after that.
Try Autokiller from the market. Once you install it, run it. Set the autokiller settings to something like Optimum or Strict (if that doesn't work for you, try Aggressive).
This will adjust the low memory killer settings to a more aggressive number. This, hopefully, will help.

I agree. I use auto killer on aggressive with CM6 and it runs great forever
My phone does the exact same thing!
I first really noticed it when I flashed the official sprint 2.1 update. I think it has something to do with the buildup of cache on the phone.
I have been running CM6 for a little over a month and have recently noticed it getting slightly hung up at times, but nothing compared to how it was with the official 2.1 update. Also, remember that CM6 does not have Sense, which can really slow down the phone.
I also I agree with you that it seemed like my phone did not do this on 1.6, but it has been quite sometime since I flashed 2.1.
Does anyone know what really causes this exponential slow down; to the point where the phone is barely useable?
hm... I will try autokiller.....thanks for the advice
as for CM6..... I've tried not using sense UI but to me its my favorite part of my phone... for example the facebook/twitter/flickr integration with my contact list is invaluable.... is there a replacement for this?
is anyone else able to add anything else?

Try Zen-Rom. It has all that you are looking for and is very fast and stable.
Sent from my Zen-Rom Hero!
Auto killer is the way to go. I found Aggressive setting too much for my tastes; if I was on a webpage, then went to the home screen for something else and opened back up the browser, it would have to reload it because it was killed. I set it on optimum, and get no slow down, and can still truly multi task.

Or NFX-Hero. I'm not a Sense guy, but I've experimented with that ROM, and it was the fastest Sense 2.1 IMO.
Just curious but does pandora have a cache file on your sdcard? I had an app that was reading and writting to a cache on my sdcard and it would slow my phone down a lot. When your phone slows try ditching some of your apps and see if maybe one could be responsible for it, if it is there are tons of options different apps that do the same thing.

[Q] Updating cyanogenmod 10 to 10.1

I just wanted to be sure that I am going to do this right.
Do I just go Settings > About phone > CyanogenMod updates > then download 10.1 and it will do all the work for me? Or do I have to make a nandroid backup (going to do that anyways), wipe cache and dalvik, flash boot.img then flash the rom?
Also, how stable is 10.1? Any known bugs?

The automatic updater will not work. At least if you're S-On. So flashing through recovery is the way to do it (wipes and boot.img flashing as usual also ofc). I believe flashing CM10.1 over CM10 might work without factory reset, but prepare for stuff not working and flashing it again with proper wiping.
Bugwise I'd say CM10.1 is absolutely ready as a daily driver. Wifi tether doesn't work when screen is off (same issue is with CM10). Performance is a bit lower than with CM10. You'll see some screen tearing when scrolling and switching home screens and in some games with intense graphics.
Give it a go! It's not too hard to go back to CM10 if it doesn't please you.
Sent from my One S. Please hit thanks if I helped.

This will be a tl;dr story so only read it if you can be bothered...
I did the automatic update, then as soon as it downloaded I had to run for the bus (one a bloomin' hour). I was then stuck on the htc splash screen for about ten minutes, did a soft reset, went into recovery, went back to CM10, restored the backup, not a problem. Then got home, pushed 10.1 onto the phone, flashed the new boot.img, then flashed CM10.1 and restored backup again. Worked fine. Then I had to try three different Gapps because two of them didn't actually work, and it was agonising that the website that I got them from only had an upload speed of around 0.4Mbs. But flashed that now, and everything works fine (although I had to delete and re-download NatWest and Play Music).

Spotted a couple of bugs immediately. Syncing with facebook simply does not work (I only wanted contact pictures for caller IDs). Obviously the clock bug, but I know how that is fixed. Haven't had any screen tearing yet, and since Orange only give me 750MB there is nooooooooo way that I am going to use tethering, so that won't bug me. CM10.1 has fixed the music player bug, where the first song I play would take around 30 seconds to play, if I chose another song then it would restart the previous song, play that for five seconds, then play the selected song, and if I paused a song it would then start playing again for a couple of seconds after five seconds of being paused. That was irritating. Noticed it seems to be a fair bit more RAM heavy than CM10, but I miss the settings button on the top of the notification bar, that tiles thing just seems to take to long for my liking...

You can also swipe down with two fingers, or set a specific area that opens the Quick Settings immediately, in Settings

Already knew about the sections thing, but because I'm right-handed every time I wanted to look at a notification I got settings, and setting it so that the settings open on the left side just seems a bit weird. I didn't know about the two fingers thing, and I like that, cheers.

[Q] Can't unlock phone touch screen not responding

My phone is rooted and I have Jelly 'beans' ROM installed. Everything was going well (been running for a week) until I installed ActiveNotifications (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.greatbytes.activenotifications). I'm not stuck on my lock screen and the touch screen does not respond to unlock it. There is also a hand icon in the status bar that I've never seen before. I can't (as far as I know) use adb to uninstall because the phone is not in USB debugging.
Any thoughts short of wiping and re-installing the ROM?
TIA

Yeah, neat app huh? I did the same thing myself. I think to use it you have to have a PIN unlock. Anyway, if you can pull down your notification shade, go into settings and uninstall it. Also if you have no security set for your lock screen, try to call your phone or send a text, something that will immediately get you into the main UI, then uninstall it.
Power it off the press at the same time power>home>vol up and boot into recovery and reflash the rom..

Maybe consider restoring from your most recent nandroid? I know that it's losing some progress, but you might be able to save yourself some time. Short of that, I think you'll need to re-flash your ROM, unfortunately.
I've been in situations like this one before, and that's the big reason why I've made it my standard operating procedure to maintain two backups: one for pre-flash and on stable post-flash for every new ROM. It's been helpful so far (in the extremely limited experience I have with custom software on my phone).
I'm going to wait just a bit to see if anyone else has some great suggestion, but I think I'll have to re-flash (after I finally got my home screen the way I want it). I do have PIN lock on. Can't pull the notifications down. With the ROM I'm using the AOSP lockscreen and I when you touch the circle to unlock none of the icons show.
Not a happy camper

Try to hit the menu button while you're on the lockscreen, sometimes that'll bypass the lock screen.

After wiping and re-installing the ROM (several times) I think I may have found the culprit. My phone suddenly thinks that my 32 GB external SD card is bad and is stuck in a fsck. If I put the card out everything is happy. Time to backup the sdcard and reformat.

New ROM w/o Reset

I have been running CleanROM Seven for sometime without any problem or issues. In the last few weeks it has been glitching something awful! The screen blinks whenever I try to load an app or really do anything at all. Sometimes it blinks between the old and the new screen (like when swiping from page to page I'll see the page I was on and the page I am going to back and forth very quickly). Other times I see vertical stripes that alternate from the screen and black bars.
Restarting the phone worked for a while and then it stopped working, so I reflashed the ROM and that worked for a week or so and now it's back. I really, really, really want to avoid any kind of reset that involves the removal of my contacts or anything of that nature (I always back up before a reset, and I always end up missing stuff like contacts that I had). Either a fix to this problem or a ROM that I can flash without having to reset would be great.

You can't really flash a new ROM without wiping because then you'd face a whole new set of issues.
If you're missing contacts, back them all up to Google through settings/accounts/Google/check contacts. That will help you avoid anything with contacts.
For apps, back them up with titanium backup, but only backup user apps and data. Do not backup system data or apps as this will cause issues as well.
My suggestion would be to do these things I've suggested, then nandroid backup, then wipe and flash bonestock. Its probably the stablest ROM around. Also the developer is really awesome and keeps up with most of the stuff.
Outside of that stuff, I can't really help you. Unfortunately there's not a safe way to flash without wiping.

the reason why we recommend that you wipe the device is that one rom might have features that won't work on another rom. there are other things that end up happening.

[Q] screen goes black after app launch

My phone learned a new trick last week: launch an app, and the screen turns dead black after the app's splash loading screen.
It doesn't happen with every app or every time certain apps are launched, but if it is going to happen, it is always just after an app loading screen and before the app itself would be displayed. It never happens on a system or preference screen, or in an app without a splash animation.
Button back-lighting, volume control, and haptic seem to remain active and respond as normal, but the app seems to be locked into the foreground with a black screen, and can't seem to do anything to stop it but reboot the phone via power button hold.
I'm running CM 12.1 nightlies on a Verizon S3. I've been updating the CM nightlies, well, nightly since last week in hopes a fix would be included in one of them, but I'm not sure this is a ROM issue. I've also wiped Dalvik/Cache several times, with and without a ROM update. I saw black screens on some phones were caused by theme window animations, so I've disabled these in CM, but hasn't made a difference.
Just a guess on my part, but if the nightlies do not fix this you may end up needing to do a clean flash. Hopefully you do not have to go as far as formatting /system.

Thanks, but wouldn't a "clean flash" require wiping `system`?
I'm wondering whether this is possibly a hardware problem too: this phone's been pretty beaten up, not sure how to determine that though.

I'd wipe everything, including system and your internal SD card, then you'll know for sure if it's hardware related or not.
