Rooted, now looping a rotating tile screen... - Thunderbolt General

Hoping to get some help. I rooted my phone using revolutionary, which worked fine. Then I installed Liquid Smooth 3.1. Now my phone is stuck looping in this screen that just has a bunch of rotating colored tiles. Anybody know how to fix this?

Did you wipe everything before you flashed the new rom?

I rewiped everything and now it works. Liquid doesn't seem to come with backup assistant... and being me i didn't backup my contacts :| ... what should I do for my contacts? There's no backup assistant in the Market.

You can go to backup assistant website and export your contacts to a file. This file can then be imported into your google account.

[BETA-Test] WG-Build 9.2 Beta test for Non-WGBuild users

This is just a test for Non-WGBuild users to see if my fixes keep your GApps working
(WG-Build users can also load this on, but is isn't the final version)
NANDROID BACKUP FIRST
http://www.androidspin.com/downloads.php?dir=wesgarner/ROM/&file=build92-beta-signed.zip
After loading on I am testing for these things - Please don't Wipe
See if it boots first! The firstboot on this ROM when converting from a different ROM is very SLOW
As long as it doesn't go to a black screen - it's still working (if it goes to a black screen, if you can send me your logcat)
After that, if it requests you to run SetupWizard, go ahead and login with your GMail stuff
After that, if it pops up to run it again, just press the Home key
Then Please Test these Applications:
GMail
Calendar
Contacts
Maps (try texting Navigation, too please)
A few normal Apps
See if Data Synchronization is under your settings

Just let me know about all of that, if all is good - you can convert back to CM or whichever ROM you are using
If you would like to try out my ROM, then keep it! My final version will be out later today. This is CM 4.2.8.1
No takers?
boots, a bit slow but it got there right after the screen dimmed the first time.
no setup requested
gmail works **there seems to be a weird issue, when i sent my self the device log the status was stuck at sending even thought it did arrive in my inbox, but gmail on device doesn't seem to know that.
calendar works
maps works, whats texting nav?
data sync is there and the options seem correct with sync dates etc
now contacts, the app runs. but when i select edit sync groups or display group i get a force close on android.process.acore
otherwise it seem very fast and stable, i ran through a couple other apps which all seem to work. i like that dev tools app, where is that from?
and some info;
i am coming from sensehero v1.4 no wipe, apps2sd and linux swap partitions on a shi**y memory card that came with the device.
and it boot twice as fast the second time
i also have a request in the begining of boot to complete an action using advanced launcher or home, what is it for? nothing seems to happen. (nm, i figured that out, the advanced one loads faster btw) and there is a warning about low space in phone storage.
hope that helps
ah crap
hey any idea how to fix my phone, i restored my nandroid backup and it just goes to the initial boot logo. i have tried a wipe, and i have even tried using fastboot to erase boot and system and then wiped and then re flashed the rom i was using but i still get just the first boot logo. any ideas?

Chrome To Phone : Unable To Connect

Several times after I flash a new ROM, I get an error when trying to setup Chrome To Phone, "Unable to connect."
When I have issues with something in a new ROM, I generally have a pretty standard course of action:
Reboot, uninstall / reinstall, clear application data, fiddle with restoring app and data with Titanium Backup...
The only thing that was working with Chrome To Phone was restoring data, then disconneting the phone in settings, and re-adding my gmail address.
However when I upgraded from DAS BAMF Remix 2.0b6 to Remix 2.1 that trick didn't work. What did work was restoring to my previous ROM, verified Chrome To Phone still worked, disconnected the phone, restore my new ROM, and reconnect my gmail account. This worked great.

I don't have a working ROM to restore to, any luck getting it to connect any other way. It's driving me crazy!

I am in the same boat.
No, I don't, sorry. Most of the time I just restore Chrome To Phone with Titanium Backup, data and all. I then disconnect the phone and readd it. Had to do that today when I flashed a new version. I have always gotten into the habit of backing up before I flash a new ROM.
Only thing I can think of maybe flashing to a ROM that it was working on, and try tge restore data trick. Might be a hail mary, but it might work.

Text messaging app died

The text messaging app on my One X died. Whenever I click on a thread, it just says Loading... but nothing happens. I've soft reset my phone twice. I'm running the latest AT&T official firmware with no customizations. Can this be fixed without a hard reset?

Backup your messages using SMS Backup & Restore, and clear data from the Messaging app. Worked for me on the Vibrant.
Clear data is greyed out for Messages.
Do you have Titanium Backup? If so, wipe data through there, and reboot.
You could backup the app, uninstall, reboot, reinstall, and then restore your messages if needed.

If I'm going to root I might as well install the stock ICS messaging app.

[Q] I need help.

I'm not a dev, but it's obvious to me something is wrong.
I re-flashed the eaglesblood ICS rom using clockworkmod recovery v.5.8.1.3 (touch version)
everything seemed okay.
until i started putting apps back on my phone with app backup and restore.
I was getting "process syystem has stopped responding" all over the place.
Then the phone crashed.
it keeps booting, only three apps seem to be running that show themselves in the taskbar, Groove IP, GV SMS integration, and Battery Notifier (Big Text)
It sits there, one one of the home screens, LW animating slowly as it will.. then the phone reboots for no reason.
I installed 4 or 5 different logcat apps but i can't make heads or tails of them
and adb logcat > logcat.txt just spits out this :
/sbin/sh: exec: line 1: logcat: not found
dmesg spits out the log i'm attaching.
Can anyone help me? If i can save the log from one of the logcat apps, will that help?
I'd rather not have to reflash and re-install apps AGAIN.
Where you flashing EB 4.0.4 from gingerbread ?
In any case a full wipe and reflash of the ROMs would work fine. Then reflash the appropriate gapps, But when restoring the apps using TB just restore at apps and not their data. They sometimes don't play well.
I had a similar issue when I tried flashing the 4.2 gapps on 4.1.2 keyboard would crash everytime and any app that uses even one of the google services would crash right away.
I cleared dalvic cache did a dirty flash over my existing 4.1.2 , reflashed the 4.1.2 gapps then I fixed permissions and in was good to go.

so a dirty reflash and fix permissions might help?
Funny enough, after posting that, and hitting reboot on CWM recovery.. the phone came up with the cord plugged in, and seems to be stable for now.
Uhm. i was flashing from.... heck if i know, i've tried a bunch of roms.
the phone INITIALLY was 2.3.4
back when i started.. months ago.

I see "equalizer activated " then the phone gets stuck... that same "equalizer activated" thing came up when i added speakerboost... wonder if it's the cause..

*grumble* damn sun-downer phone. SO all night it was crashing.. So i finally got irritated when i went to bed, yanked the battery out and plopped it on my night-stand by my fan.
This morning i put the battery in, turn it on, and it seems stable.
What the heck?!
logs.
So... between all the log apps i've played with i have a bunch of logs.. if anyone could look them over and tell me if they see a problem, i'd appreciate it.
Re-download Rom+Gapps
Place on SD card
Re-nvflash cwm recovery 5.0.2.0
Wipe data/cache/davlk/battstats/format system
Install rom+gapps
Wipe cache/davlk/battstats
Fix permissions
Reboot
Using touch is sometimes buggy, 5.0.2.0 is most stable. Restoring apps/data is sometimes a messes things up.

[Q] Help me recover contacts after installing custom ROM please?

So here is what happened.
I had a stock 2.3.4 droid 2 global from Verizon with the .629 update.
Used Framaroot to root it.
I used Titanium Backup to backup my contacts being the idiot that I am not thinking it wouldn't work. I also thought I had the contacts backed up to google but it seems I didn't.
I flashed over to this custom ROM LiquidICS 1.6 unofficial droid 2 global version which I can't link to.
Now Titanium Backup isn't letting me restore the contacts that I backed up.
For whatever reason even though I used ClockworkMod to backup my current ROM it isn't in my SD card which really pisses me off because I confirmed it was there before flashing over to liquidics.
If anyone knows either a way to get the contact files from 2.3.4 working with 4.0.4 or knows of a place where I could find just the ROM of the stock 2.3.4 or a different custom ROM that would work with the contact files from 2.3.4 that would be great.
I would prefer not having to go find a flash drive or a CD to use to SBF back to 2.3.4. But if that is my only way to do it I will do so.
So please help.
Did you back them up through Verizon because if you did you can easily restore them from that.

I thought I had but, at least for now anyways, I keep getting various errors where backup assistant is just not working at all for me. So I was hoping for something besides that.
Here are the apps/files I have backed up in Titanium Backup
ContactsData 2.3.4
Contacts Sync 2.3.4
Contacts 4.0.4-e(displayed as contacts 2.3.4 (10) by the actual restore button)
I am really hoping there is a way to somehow get those files working with my current system. If not I have to decide if it is worth rolling back and then going back to my new ROM and setting everything up again. Honestly not sure if it is just to get the contacts back.
Did you try going to verizons website and see if your contacts are somewhere on there and cam be pushed back to your phone.

...Just like I said in my first post backup assistant is not working for me. As in both the website and the app.
I really doubt you will be able to use Blur's contact data on a non-Blur ROM.
(And your main mistake, as I see it, was using Phone Contacts instead of syncing contacts with your Google account.)

So do you know where I can get a .ZIP of the Blur ROM?
And yea I know I messed up.
Try looking on RootzWiki; I remember someone posting a clockworkmod backup of stock 4.5.629.
I don't have one since I am still on 4.5.608 (and not planning to update — I like having the ability to downgrade if I want to).
