Loosing connection to server... - Captivate General

Rogers I896, No Sim, Only Wifi. Rooted. Stock ROM.
Yesterday my captivate lost connection with the server. I have a nice connection to wifi, but can't get anywhere. This happened once before. Market gives me "Unable to connect, Retry" and adding an account to the device gives me an "unable to create a reliable connection to the server, try again later..." kind of message (I don't recall the exact words). Browser and Email, just can't get anywhere.
Reboot makes no effect.
Deleteing browser cache/reboot makes no effect.
Ran FXR Wifi fix - no change.
My Galaxy Tab and PC are connected to wifi and can go where ever they want, so it isn't the router.
Last time I did a factory reset and carefully installed just apps and data where it wouldn't affect the connection. This restored my ability to connect. This time I just did a factory reset, installed Titanium backup and restored all apps + data. ...and I can connect just fine.
What killed my connection on my Captivate? How do I keep it from doing that? This wipe and restore is getting a bit old.
M

Bump, I have been having the same issue. It continually loses connection every few seconds then i have to go back to the main talk screen to reconnect. The app is basically useless at this point. Anyone else experiencing this issue??

Me too with apex 11 b3

[Q] Strangely isolated WiFi issue

Hi all,
Captivate with Cognition 2.2B9.1.1
Android 2.2
Belkin router (it is at home so I can't get the model number right now)
The simple problem is that my captivate will connect to all of the other wifi networks that I use but it stopped connecting to the one at home. All other phones and computers in the house connect just fine. The interesting thing is that when you watch the connection status on the phone, it connects and then immediately disconnects and starts the handshake over again. I have watched this happen over and over again. Weird.
I first thought it was my router so I modified the settings by using different channels and security methods. No dice. I then reset my router to factory specs and still nothing. I want to blame the router but I am stuck thinking that it might be the phone. Is there a way to purge the WiFi and IP information? I would rather not dump my phone and restart if I can avoid it. Can this be done through a terminal app like other platforms?
Any ideas or similar experiences?
Thanks ahead of time.

So I dropped an updated Cognition Rom 2.3.b6 and solved the issue. Last night I cleared my RAM (level 1 and level 2) and when I got home the problem occurred again. Bizarre. Could I be clearing a cache that refuses to refresh? Ideas?

ICS data slow to connect

I am running the Zero rom and it is working great. I am having one issue but not sure if it is ICS related ot not. I am currently in Afghanistan and have edge data service. When I first started using it on GB all I had to do was create a new Access Point and only had to enter "internet" into the APN, no authentication, no proxy etc. So I instaleld ICS then when to their website (etisalat) for the APN setting. They show using a proxy but still no authentication. When I use those settings it shows that I am connected to edge but I get no data down and eventually get an error about not connetcing to the proxy. Anyway, I couldn't get it to work so I used the original APN setting but had to enable "Pap or Chap" authentication. Now it works.
But, the problem I am having is that it takes forwver to get data to connect. I mean when I leave my wifi connection, or go from a place with no cell signal to a place with signal, it takes a long time (5-30 min) for the phone to establish a data connection. I try to open my broswer or other internet programs but they just fail to connect saying no network avaiable. I try turning data on and off etc but it doesn't force it to connect. Eventually I will see the edge data connection icon showing in the top bar and it works again.
Anyone have any idea why it is slow to connect to the data? I never had this problem in GB.
Thanks
Try flashing the radio from this thread, its UCLA3, the best radio in many peoples opinion for speed and connectivity. It is gb based, but that shouldn't be an issue. I was using it with ics for a long time

Thanks, I will give it a try.
Well that didn't seem to help. Any other ideas?
Thanks

[Q] [AT&T] Wifi from hell, help?

So, before rooting, my One X had great Wifi connection. No issues. Now that I'm rooted, I can't connect to wifi to save my life. I tried the wifi fix (not the ROM, but the 3 files instead) and still nothing.
I've tried turning off Mobile Network while wifi was on, turning mobile network on while wifi was on, tried restarting the wifi....
I cannot get a connection to the Store, browsers won't open webpages, it's essentially done for. Yet every other device in my house can access the router just fine (and it's not just here, it's elsewhere.)
Anyone have any ideas how to fix this short of flashing the new ROM (which I can't do from my house since the HTC drivers always fail to install.)
Have you tried running fix permissions to see if there's some sort of error holding things up? The only other thing I could think to do is to do a factory restore of the phone, unfortunately...

[Q] Internet Not Working

Hey everyone,
So, I was using my nexus 5 in my university over wifi and it was working all fine and then all of a sudden the internet stopped and I couldn't browse or use any app that requires an internet connection. I switched off my wifi and turned over to my 3g connection and the problem was still there that is it would connect and everything but it wouldn't allow me to browse or use any such application, I tried restarting the phone, clear the cache through recovery, gave it a soft reboot but the problem still persists even with the wifi that I have at my home. I have tried opera and chrome and both of them are not working, neither is whatsapp, facebook or anything that requires an internet connection. Chrome says "erro code: DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NO_INTERNET" while opera said "DNS lookup failed" and the same error comes over both wifi and data network.
Would really appreciate if someone could help me with it cause I need the internet to work on my phone as I can't carry a laptop everywhere. :/

How do I fix my wifi?

I have a Galaxy S5 Verizon.
Starting today, my wifi on my device has been acting stupid.
Whenever I try to browse the internet, it lags. It isnt an issue with my internet or my router because when I run a speedtest on my cellphone, it will take a minute to start but when it does start, i get 11 ms ping 60 down 10 up.
Same with a wired connection on my desktop. Same on my galaxy tab 12.2. They both achieve these speeds. Except they don't take forever to start.
I noticed that when I use wifi on my phone, the wifi download icon is active, but the upload icon isnt. Meaning when I use wifi to browse the net, its able to download data using wifi but it stalls trying to uploading data.
Well because of this, instead of having my normal instant speeds, I have lag. It takes a while for a youtube video to load. It takes a while for a web page to load. WHen i used the app store it took a while for the app images to download and it took a while for an app download to initalize.
I dont know why this is happening. All I know is that for some reason my device is failing to upload data using wifi right away. It always stalls.
Like I said, this just started happening today too.
I didnt do much on my device. The only thing that could possibly have done something is that I used terminal to change my device hostname. I was tired of seeing "android-3478547583gf7348574835" On my router arp table. So I went onto terminal and I did
> su
> getprop net.hostname
> setprop net.hostname <new_hostname>
And then I went onto recovery and wiped my cache.
Thats the only "Technical" thing I've done with my phone today and now for some reason my wifi stalls.
Any ideas?
I wiped the cache again to see if that would fix it. Didnt. Rebooted my phone dozens of times. Did nothing. I dont want to resort to factory resetting but I will if I have to. Im rooted. GS5 on 5.1.1
I shouldnt say its a lag issue since I still get 60 mb download speeds. Its just that the wifi on my phone is failing to initialize a full connection right away
