[Q] Lockscreen rings MOD available? - HTC Desire S

Browsing the net for some splash screens/wallpapers and so on, I've accidentally found some nice lockscreens made by nick1313. I was wondering if there are also available for our Desire S (originally they're made for Evo 4G)
I've included a picture below to see what I'm talking. Mainly I'm interested in that nice central electronic watch, eventually if there's such a widget to be placed on the screen

I'm on Endymion v2.1 with the HD honey theme and the clock your after is in:
Personalize, display, lock screen style, clock ,settings, spin cycle clock which is the last one number 11. Cheers gordon

Thank you for the tip, I'll check the scheme, but I'm on CM ROM and I'm quite happy with it, don't want to change it only for a lockscreen. I was hoping to find something that will work on CM ROMs

No probs very new to all this not sure if the clock is part of the rom or the theme. Cheers gordon
Sent from my HTC Desire S using XDA App

That is the very same clock I use and can confirm it's a sense 3.0/3.5 rom lockscreen. But I do like the unlock ring goes well with the clock.

Yeah unlock ring looks sweet with the indervidual lights mine has a solid glow

Actually bud I can't take credit for those, Mando41 actually made them, I think. Here's a tutorial for it that I've found but haven't ever used.
EDIT: Just saw you said lockscreen. Did you mean lock ring? The lock screen is just an HTC lock screen right?

Don't know exactly what the posibilities are, that's why I said "lockscreen" (in the print screens there was the lockscreen). What I'd like to have is that digital round watch as a widget on my screen or, if that's not possible to have a lockscreen as you have in the prints.
It just crossed my mind now that the digital watch is on the desktop and the lockscreen has transparent background so it's seen through it.
I'll check the link you've provided and see if I can do something that works on CM ROM not MIUI

Hi, really do like that unlock ring mod I believe its an apk sense skin, correct me if I'm wrong cos most lockrings are modded thru skins.
Would you be kind to direct me to the thread that I can find this mod please.
Cheers.
Sent from my HTC Desire S using xda premium

MasterDL from what I've read and understood, that is the standard sense lockring lockscreen with a moded lockring. Nick has already provided a link to a tutorial for making those custom lockrings (check his post). For this to work though, you should have a ring lockscreen integrated in the rom (Sense based or MIUI as far as I saw). Unfortunately there's no such lockscreen in CM (the "ring" lockscreen in CM looks different)

^ Yeah I know, I am asking for it Cos I am a sense 3.5 user and like to know where this thread is so I can make one myself.
I'm talking about that ring in your first post.

HERE is the tutorial nick has pointed to, for the rest you can check the links in his signature. There are some screens and mods on that site too.
You can also search XDA for "lockring lockscreen" and you'll find plenty of threads that also have sample lockrings for you to use if you like to build your own

[Request][App] Flipclock (It's not exactly what you think)

Hey guys. I'm in search of an animated flip clock, identical to the one found on HTC devices. After hours of looking around, I've decided that there is not one out there that flips AND looks just like the HTC one. However, after playing around with Better Alarm Clock Pro, I found that it has a working flip clock built into the app, but it cannot be used as a widget. This brings out the question: Can this portion of the app be ported so that it is a widget? I am rooted, on an Optimus V running Stock ROM with everything stipped, if it matters. Thank you.
Just use fancy widget, looks and flips pretty much the same
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
Fancy Widget with the H7C skin looks almost exactly like the sense flip clock.
Go weather's htc style widget looks close too. Just download go weather and then the skin for the widget.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
He wants it to flip too. Like the animation. This isn't currently possible according to fancy widget. It is in the FAQ on their site.
Fancy Widget Pro is quite good to pretend as HTC Sense clock, Retro Clock Widget is an alternative for simple flip clock
I believe the flipping animation is part of Sense UI... soo you can't exactly replicate that.
Anyways I understand it'd look cool for the first hour or so when you're looking at your widget to flip..
you'll forget about it later, and it'll cause to be nothing more than a battery eater.
I own fancy widget pro and am using the h7c skin, but it doesn't flip. Better alarm clock pro has a working flipclock built in and I just want to know if it can be ported?
Sent from my VM670 using XDA App
Hello? Surely this is possible?
Sent from my VM670 using XDA App
Try a LWP instead of a widget search the Marketplace for "Live Wallpaper Flip Clock" by Sergey Golovanov it is not bad and may accomplish the effect you are looking for.
Thanks for the reply, RifRaf, looking into it at this very moment. But my original question is still not answered. PLEASE can anyone tell me if it is possible to port it. I don't know how to develop apps or scripts or any of that stuff. All I know is that the flip clock is there, within the app, and I just want it on my homescreen.
The flip is part of htc's framework. Its not part of androids. Theres no way to make it work.

well I know I sound like I'm a dumbass here, but I know that the stock android system is capable of animated Widgets. I've used a clock with rolling animation, so I know that animation is possible. I also know that better alarm clock pro has the HTC flip clock. How can it not be possible to animate the flip clock as a widget? All of the image files are there, it just needs to be coded or scripted or whatever (I'm not programming inclined, obviously). If anyone can make a widget out of this, I would be happy to give them a few drinks.

Look, if I had several hundred dollars to throw away just so I could get a damn flip clock....I am fine with my phone how it is. The flip clock is 100% possible, there was a working flip clock posted earlier in this thread. It just needs to be themed to look like the htc one.
I have my entire sense theme put together, I just need this flip clock widget to happen, so I can make it complete.
It doesn't really look like HTC Sense, but it flips...
Try out "Animating Flip Clock Widget" - it's free on the market. I'm sure the apk could be modded to look more like the Sense clock.
EDIT: Doh! I just realized the link posted earlier was the same widget. Oh well... but yeah, I'm sure it could be modded, but making it look exactly like the Sense flip clock, including weather, the dark background behind the tabs, etc... might be difficult.

Removing app name from display

Q: I love the customization available with the various ASOP roms, however really like the look and feel of the various sense roms too. I'm running Virtous Unity 2.37 and its great.
Without using an application such as ADW products, can I tweek the look to remove the app name from the display? I know what's what and just want to make it cleaner.
I'm not very technical and have searched but nothing seems to apply.

Use Any Cut (free in Market). Create shortcut to App from within Any Cut...although it won't let you leave the name blank, it will allow you to just input a space so it appears blank. See camera in top row of screenshot

desktop visualizer will do the same thing, but i think it will let you leave it completely empty
I use Desktop Visualizer. Notice the NFL icon. It is a custom icon that actually launches the NFL '11 app that I use. Also notice how I shortened the name of the stock messaging app.

It's a work in progress. I'm stock rooted with the Ginerbread/Sense 2.1 rom.
The wallpaper I found on Zedge. The skin is sopL87's 2.1 work over in the DHD threads. It is the Glass Sense skin. I am planning on changing the battery icon blue. I got some nice things going on in the other screens too. All a work in progress.

Iphone Lock Screen

Hey I was wondering whats the best way to replicate the iphone lock screen? Is it cm7 theme chooser?
You could try widgetlocker. It has the iPhone lock screen.

There is an app somewhere that replicates the iphone lock screen. Used to use it on my old phone. So don't have the apk. Search a bit and you'll find it
I have, I am currently using widget locker, I've seen another app but apparently it won't scale. Correctly on the sensation, i didn't try it but saw. A. Comment from an. Evo. I'm guessing there's no. Cm7 themes?

And I don't really like miui. The interface isn't functional to me. I like cm7. Just want a iphone lock screen. I'll try magic locker.

What about "Lock 2.0"? Haven't used it in forever (coincidentally, it was the first app I ever bought for Android - lol), but it was specifically made to have the iPhone style locking, as well as give it some personal flare.
Yea that's the one he's using. The screen is compressed and the slider bar is really long and skinny. I've tried it without any luck. I now use "no lock" and just hit any button and am on my main screen, I never really saw the use of pressing a button just to do another task..

I do this, except I use a passcode. I just wish android/cm7 will release a lockscreen I like. Rotary did it for me for a while, but it become almost too complicated for me. I didn't like that if I used it to change the sound, i have to wait for the thing to finish rotating. I just want something I slide and it unlocks, but the default sliding tabs in my opinion are ugly. I liked sense's lockscreen, but the cm7 replication doesn't do it for me. looks too... circular

ICS AOSP Lock Screen Call Awake issue.. (Discontinued)...

I am not much into development stuff but if we work together, we can find a fix for black Call screen with incoming call which is very annoying..
Please don't suggest alternate applications...
Don't expect it will be fixed in official HTC ICS release as it's not their job..
So far what i understand is that when we receive a Call, HTC dialer/phone sends command to HTC lockscreen to Awake and show that Answer/Reject on lock screen...Since we removed HTC lockscreen, that signal goes nowhere ...
I looked into framework-res.apk file.. It has png images of Answer/Reject call for ICS lock screen. HTC has not removed those...This can mean that all elements for answering call on ICS lockscreen exists already but are not signaled to work or disabled...
I will be looking into Phone.apk and HTCDialer.apk to see which file is involved in this command so that we direct it to AOSP lock screen instead of HTC lock screen..
If anyone is good at Development may please help if they can...

EDIT: i sold HTC Sensation long ago...
I talked to romanbb about this (he fixed this back in the 2.3.4 roms) and he said he did some heavy smli hacking in the phone.apk and that he doesn't remember what all he did to fix it.
I hope this too helps someone fix it.

Glad someone responded...
Infact i know romanbb, RCMix team and virtuous unity team are genuine modders and truly recognized developers...
I will pm him if he can help here...
Smali edits are basically too complicated... i hope he remembers it again... We actually need smali editors..
Is it not a matter of just completely restoring the original Android dialer? Or are you wanting to keep the HTC dialer, but not the lock screen? I don't care much for Sense at all, but I'm not finding any "non-Sense" ROMs that restore most of the original dialer that can send the caller-ID outside of the original lock screen, either.
There is also the fact that the Apk Manager has some trouble extracting from the 4.0.3...
I got a bit inspired after reading this last night and downloaded APK Tool. Only to realise that I am way out of my depth unfortunately
same problem i think!!!
Hi
Having this strange and annoying problem too ,when I receive a call the screen stays black so I can't see who's calling, if I swipe up on the screen I can answer. Any ideas? I've tried battery pull and a factory reset but no different.
is there any one who knows the answer?

The two I mentioned are AOSP / AOKP. The thread is about AOSP ROMs. The dude didn't specify what ROM he is talking about. I gave him options.
Sorry the info in my last post was incorrect. Eye Candy is AOKP but Virtuous Inquisition is Sense-less. Either was, incoming call on lock screen works on both.
The sad part is that while both are great ROMs which I have used for extended periods, both have been abandoned by their devs

Replace Sense w stock ICS lock screen, no apk needed

Thought I'd share a little trick I found in the HTC Rezound forum... turns out you can easily peel off the Sense-style lock screen and leave your One X with clean-looking stock ICS lock. You simply need to rename /system/app/HtcLockScreen.apk to something else, reboot, and voila, Sense doesn't skin it. I renamed it using adb shell.
It doesn't work perfectly however... I've already found a couple bugs where incoming calls don't show up on the screen (only in the status bar), and if you use something like Google Music that is supposed to add controls to the lock screen, only a black background is shown. I'm sure these functions are supposed to be handled by the Sense Lock UI which is no longer there. Maybe somebody smarter than me can figure out how to fix, or maybe this is just a useless crippled hack.

I doubt it, most of HTC's other apps are complete replacements of stock, whereas the Sense lockscreen is really just a skin sitting on top of ICS.
So it makes sense why incoming calls, texts, etc. using HTC's stock apps don't show up on the ICS lockscreen (they want to be handled by HTC's skin)....but I'm not sure why Google Music won't show controls since it isn't an HTC app. Curious!
Nice tip! Thanks for the info!
