ICS source code has been released, I will be building a rom from source code
Reserved #2
ICS-Nexus Version (previous work)
UPDATE1: I have been able to boot the Ice cream sandwich, it displays a white screen which is the boot animation, then turns into greyish blocks, I think its most likely to do with the .so files, modt likely adreno200.so, I will be testing a few things to see if it makes any difference
UPDATE2: Boot animation is showing!!, system boots!!, only recieving system ui error once clicked ok then recieve another setup error, cant get past this error just now, see everything clearly showing on screen, touchscreen needs tweaking as its all over the place, this build has a cursor in it
UPDATE3: Thanks to Lordclockan whos dumped a logcat of the rom, I see the problems that need to be fixed, Ive jump back into my linux to sort the problems out as soon as possible
UPDATE4: Things are looking very good, I got rid of most errors, If things go as planned, ICS will be released today
UPDATE5: Im very busy today guys so still dont know if it will be released today, but I have got further here's another screenshot for you guys its up and running just need to fix system ui fc now, hopefully itll come soon
UPDATE6: SYSTEMUI GONE!!! WOOOOHOOOOO!!!, its working, will need to test and make sure itll be atleast usable will let you know if itll be released tonight
EDIT: SYSTEM UI FC IS BACK , hopefully get it sorted soon
UPDATE7: System UI fc is gone definitely!! rebooted to make sure and theres no system ui fc, my touchscreen works much better than normal, still have to use 2 fingers but wherever you touch thats where itll take you!! unfortunately I cannot release this yet, I will test this further and maybe get someone to put up a video, thanks
UPDATE8: This nexus dump isnt a normal dump, looking through the settings its a developers build from the looks of it!, theres extra features Ill put up a pic, so yes this build is probably buggy since its a developers build! awesome extra features! pic below
UPDATE9: I've fixed radio, GPS was working but Ive messed that up somehow, will get that working again, I found the problem to touchscreen!! hopefully itll be fixed soon

any insight on how to disable hw acceleration?
Inspire 4G // BlackICE
Its too difficult to take off hardware acceleration unless theres an on/off switch for that, Just got home recently will test with the nexus dump
the "on/off switch" is in egl.conf removing the second line from it (adreno200 or something similar) will revert it to using the android default egl drivers - and therefore will fix graphical corruption theoretically. Wanna post that booting zip? It would save me a bit of trouble. This is the version to work with - besides likely broken libs we at least should be able to use the touchscreen sans a cursor.

yes, I believe that is what he said... remove line with adreno... not sure if it works though. just an idea.

I've been playing a lot with Kings Eris ROM and decided to look at the Legend ROM as well to see how it goes.
As you probably know it's one of the latest 2.1 Sense UI ROMs, most things are working now.
Issues:
Power off doesn't work - fixed
Dark video - fixed, thanks to Case_
It seems HTC thinks no one would have more than 100 Facebook contacts... a little annoying - found a fix that worked for me, sync the 100 contacts, remove the facebook acount, restart and add it again, all my contacts are showing now.
Probably other things I haven't found yet
Requires ext and a large (at least 128mb) swap partition
Thanks to King for your ROM I've learnt from and Sanpei who's port I've based mine on
Download
v0.9 This for now should only have english (fitting it all was a very tight squeeze), I haven't tested the other languages, but I can upload the files for you to push or possibly make no-wipe updates for them.
v0.9.1 Youtube HQ and Dark Video no-wipe update
Older versions:
Beta V0.3
Beta V0.2.5 it's back to a single flashable zip, and the next version is taking longer than expected so I'll update this page properly now
Beta V0.1
Changelog:
v0.9.1:
No-wipe update to v0.9
fixes dark camera and video problem - thanks to Case_
adds support for Youtube HQ
v0.9:
Trying to remember everything I've done here...
apk's and frameworks updated - thanks to nprussell again
another big cleanup of system
framework now moved to /system
dalvik-cache now moved to /data
camcorder now works reliably, I've only tested it properly at 320x240 mpeg4
poweroff fixed - thanks Firerat
some changes to build.prop that will hopefully increase performance
apn settings FC should be fixed
other things I can't remember at the moment
Beta V0.3:
Huge cleanup of system, cut down to English, Spanish, Italian, French, German as language options
No more odex files, should now be completely theme-able
apk's from nprussel and RaiderX from the Hero section - there is a couple of minor graphical glitches (4 pictures showing in the wrong place), but it makes it a lot faster
This build could possibly be less stable
Beta V0.2.5:
Missing widgets fixed
Changed to a single flash-able zip to make things less confusing, thanks for the tips guys
Beta V0.2:
GPS should be fixed
'G1s too small' workaround I came up with, the system apps are temporarily stored on sdcard and moved to the EXT partition on the first boot
Beta V0.1:
Initial release
Added renicing script by MikeTaylor, edited so you don't get a whole backlog of them running, to test if it helps with incoming call lag
Will update this more later
Good work.
Thanks bro, keep the good work up
But, what is the difference between the Eris 2.1 ROM, and this Legend one? I cant imagine it would be much different.. is this faster? More features?
I'm willing to flash anything with my Nexus coming Tuesday..
There's not too much different, with them both being 2.1 Sense, this has a slightly nicer theme IMO. And some things work better - like being able to hide sim contacts. Speed I'm not sure about though, it's possible this will end up being slightly slower, in which case I'll investigate the possibility of taking bits of both (I'm not too hopeful that will work though).
I will give it a try on my G1 when you get the beta ready
the Phone lag (for incoming calls) change from MP3 to OGG may sort that out.
Good job man! Looking forward a version with WG kernel and ramhack for the need for speed
Wish the fix for phone lag be the priority since this is the most important of being a phone
Vegaman, if this is NOT using BFS (I noticed it helped even when it did, but oh well), I have MikeTaylor's setpriority.sh script handy and the way to implement it written into my brain (Hero used to be my main rom for months).

Yes it works very well. If it's the first call after running the script (I had the a2sd script run it at boot, so for me it was every boot), it will take two or three rings, but after that it will be consistently 1 or 2 with screen on, vibrating, and sounds.
Ok, thanks. I'll carry on testing it and some other things and leave it running overnight to make sure it's stable and hopefully I'll have time to upload it in the morning, assuming it all runs OK.

I'm going to go eat breakfast while I wait.
I've been using it without A2SD, but I'm uploading it with the a2sd script and userscript.conf reverted to normal. This ROM is big, I end up with 4MB free on my 90MB system partition. I've also left all of the apps in it, but I run it with a bunch removed myself (like footprints, stocks...).

Here's another battery morph, because I know you guys like your custom batteries. Plus being one of the only animated icons, they are fairly fun to work on.
This Morph converts your current battery icon to a series of six dots. As the dots drain, empty dots replace them. When you plug in to charge up, behold–it turns into a series of arrows! wow, hahaha. (idk, i like it...)
This probably wont work with the percentage overlays, as the icons are pretty complex, and dont really facilitate great legibility of the percentages. But one can only do so many circle and square batteries, so I'm branching out to do other ideas and shapes.
Standard disclaimer: Do a nandroid BU before you flash this. I have no idea whats on your system, or what may cause it to break, therefore you flash this at your own risk, as with pretty much every morph.
If you are experiencing issues with metamorph hanging while trying to install, make sure you have usb debugging turned on in your system settings. yes, you really need to do this. go to settings-->applications-->development-->make sure usb debugging is checked!
If that doesnt work check this list made by morpher Formel-LMS. Must be that German efficiency...
1. Have you downloaded the correct files for your ROM?
2. Have you debugging enabled in the Android Menu?
3. Install "Titanium Backup" start it and hit the "Problems?" Button, then it installs a correct busybox version. This is required!!!
4. In Metamorph, press Menu, play with the applying speed. Choose a speed above 4200!
5. Never check the "Disable startup checks" in Metamorphs settings
6. Never, never, never rename the zipfile. If you do this, you'll get error messages like "Theme Control File Missing"

Do you have usb debugging enabled? Its been in the op in red since I posted, but I cranked the text size up so no one will miss it again. If that isn't it, you prob need to do a full data/cache wipe, including dalvik cache and reinstall your rom. If you are running a rare/uncommon rom, i suppose the pathways could be incorrect, but I have yet to encounter that issue. If so let me know what rom it is, and ill take a look at the pathway and repackage it for that particular rom if thats the issue. But try the other stuff first.

Sorry, but there isnt really anything else I can do to make it compatible for you. There is nothing in the zip that could cause any of that stuff to happen honestly. Its just a zipped folder with some images and xml telling the images where to go in your system.
I would think that if it worked before you themed, but then your phone went crazy after you themed, that there may be an issue with the theme or the way you applied the theme or something else.
That's why I dont create themes though, too much room for something to go wrong. Morphs are much lighter, more stable in my experiences, and easier to apply. But that's just my two cents.

Stock applications.
Bug fixes.

How to install:Important!
You will need to download Koush's bootstrap application and bootstrap your recovery. Then you can boot into recovery via the same app or you can install via ROM Manager(by rebooting into recovery, not via install rom from sdcard). Once you boot into recovery do a FULL nandroid backup and then you go to mounts and storage and mount /system manually to avoid more issues. Install zip from sdcard and toggle signature verification to disable. Now you can install the zip from the sdcard. Once this is done, reboot.
Now for the download

Thanks for all the hard work man!
I was currently in the process of installing Epic Unleashed 1.1! when I just saw this, lol.
I'm having the "stuck on the M screen" after I installed Epic Unleashed 1.1 from Bootstrapper and restarting the phone. I've pulled the battery and everything loads up fine but didn't see Epic under the Android Version.. So I tried to reboot the phone using bootstrapper recovery.. It then becomes stuck on the M screen again.
Additionally.. I tried using Rom Manager to get into Recovery mode but I just get a screen of the Android with a !.. What are my options at this point?

I like it. Blur removal is similar to Tranquility Rom, which I like.
A few minor issues though:
1. As stated earlier, notification text is still black: date, sdcard, and any text displayed similar as these items.
2. Progress bars have vertical white lines breaking it up. Does not look nice.
3. Swype is busted after flash, but if you install the one from the Droid 2 dump you can get past this issue.
4. It does not appear that you include all of the FM radio libraries and servies. You include the APK and one library, but you are missing the other two libraries in system/lib and you are missing the FM radio service in system/bin. This will cause the FM radio to not work.
Again these issues are minor, and overall I like Epic 2.0. Look forward to the polishing. I think it is almost there. Thanks for your efforts.

The progress bars are blur it self, not my doing. This does not completely remove blur as I stated before. Swype was removed from the system/app folder because I got a email requesting its removal threatening legal action. I will look at the FM radio. Sorry about that, just found the apk and threw it in there. Didn't know I needed extra things Thanks for telling me!

Cool, Swype is no big deal or the radio thing.
I am curious about the progress bar. I am not referring to the moving angled white bars, but I am referring to new straight bars that are breaking up the progress bar into segments. I know the scrolling angled white bars are normal, but not the white lines running completely vertical that don't move(I think I said horiz early but I meant vertical).

I didn't see it on Tranquility. Are you sure it doesn't have to do with the framework edits to get the black bar? I don't mean directly, but maybe indirectly. It is a curious artifact either way. Kind of jarring in the UI.
Anyways, thanks again for the good work.
Sorry to bring up another issue; I have an eye for out of place things.
I noticed when you are pulling down the notification window, you see a transparent box extending past the notification drawer. It is faint, but once you see it, you can't unsee it. You can see it in mid pull, it is a bit odd.
Try it when you have an application with a white screen like the browser.

I see. Your probably right. It is one of those things you don't notice until you notice it. I have noticed a number of quirks with the blur theme on a stock phone, so you are probably right. It's like they don't have quality control.
update: I just did a nandroid restore of my Tranquility Rom and noticed that these blur quirks do not exist on my phone, neither the black notification box or the progress bar issue. It appears these issues can be fixed. Maybe you should contact the Tranquility guy.
Yours and his are very similar, but the black bar got me and I flashed yours, these quirks though really distract for me. I hope you can figure theme out. Who knows, maybe when I get some free time, I will look into myself.
let me start of by saying I TAKE NO CREDIT for any of this... only think i did was discover this amazing thread.. (i've know about it for a quite a while now, but don't know why i hadn't decided on posting this here)
im only posting this thread here because not a lot of people in the cdma hero community know about this... and yes this should work with YOUR ROM, whatever that is you have.. seems to be pretty universal now...
here is the link to the main thread, with all credits going to the guys in the desire forum:

I tried it, but all my gapps were continuously FCing so I had to nandroid back. I might try it again without notification settings (I only did part of those, so maybe that screwed it up).

are u installing this over a current theme?? are u adding any transparencies in the notification bar? what rom are u using? i've had the gapps FC before with this, but got everything worked out to where everything works perfect now..
I'm guessing CM 6 comes with a theme.. so I'm gonna say yes. I didn't make anything transparent, but I only did settings for part of the notification window.
What sucks now is that I nandroided back to a backup I made earlier today and it made everything like I just flashed CM 6 but LauncherPro kept FCing.. trying to nandroid again. :\
Edit: Can I choose sense icons without having a sense rom? If not, that's probably my problem.

sense icons are fine... i've used them before..
try this, flash cm6 again (do not wipe) just flash the same one ur using again.. then flash ur theme u made.. (do not flash gapps again).. then reboot
If I remember that kitchen gave me issues a whole back with the rs folders... open your apk and look in the res folder check to see if v4 was appended to any of the drawable folders, if so delete the v4 part in the name and resign it.

Confirmed working on CM6RC1... Although not much in the way of theaming very limited but cool non the same. Very easy to use even for the beginner. What it changes should be pretty universal as long as you pay attention and choose the correct android version.

I'll try this when I get my new sdcard in the mail. Not much room to work with right now and I don't need my apps all messed up again if it doesn't work. Just gotta remember to take my WoW Authenticator off my account before messing with it, two hours on hold was not fun this morning!

I don't even know how to open an apk..
Used this to get the circle battery with CM 6.1 RC1, my only issue is that now it displays a big "Roaming Indicator On" on my lockscreen (where the "Sprint" would usually be), and the roaming triangle is showing up in the taskbar (even though I'm like 98% sure I'm NOT roaming). Anyone have a suggestion of how to get rid of this? Maybe something I did in the process of cooking up the zip? All I want is the stock CM6 pulldown/notification bar with the circle battery, and also have the option to turn off the power control widget in the pulldown.

have you posted a comment about this in the thread in the desire forum? they seem to be really good with clearing up any issues quickly..
Searched that thread, found an answer. Working on it now.

It worked. If anyone has the same issue, make sure you pull the framework-res.apk from your ROM and upload it when it asks you to.
Sprint said no Froyo for Hero, I said eff that.

I've been toying around with it today, trying to do a couple header and footer tweaks the easy way! But everytime I've gotten to the end I choose my file to upload. It just sits there, won't let me hit next, and don't see an actual upload button. Oh well, I'll find another way to tweak up aospMOD.
EDIT: Firefox issues.

The issue comes from, I believe the ROM loaded on the site is actually from a GSM, so yeah, uploading the one right from your ROM works wonders.
So finally after reading page 2 of this I got it to work, lol. I was using the framework from the site, once I uploaded mine it worked! Although I chose to change my icons and that didnt happen, anyone else get this problem? Not to big of deal, the main thing I wanted was circle battery

sometimes its easy to overlook a unticked box... once you've generated the icons you need to make sure that you have checked off that section.. its easy to forget to tick a box that you already generated, i've done it numerous times

I did it again and this time I checked the "include icons" and chose G4 blue sense 3D. Again they didnt show up This time what happened was my icons that were blue tinted (running Extremely Blue) turned white. Same stock icons, just white instead of the blue tinted ones. Can I use the sense icons?
Thanks
If it makes a difference I also selected the white notification bar icons as well, H1 DeFrost.
That was it, only chose the G4 blue sense 3D this time and it worked perfect! Now I need to do it again as there are a few I dont care for and would rather have my blue tinted ones, like signal bars
Now I got it looking BAD-A$$!!
Question,
When attempting to modify the Status bar notification I dont get to see the progress I am making. It looks like the Kitchen is supposed to let me see what each mod will look like as I change things, shouldnt that checkered area to the right of status bar mod settings show a preview of what I a doing, while I do it?
EDIT>>>>> Nevermind, I found to click generate at the bottom of page
Thanks
Alright so I redid my phone last night (starting from scratch when I know a little more about this stuff is good ) and tried this again, got the circle battery mod and the status bar icons and it works great!
If it helps anyone, I uploaded my framework this time instead of choosing from the list.
I've been trying to modify Tranquility 3.0 to use 10% increments instead of the default 20% with the icons found in this thread: 821606
(Apparently a link to another topic is an "outside link" and I'm not allowed to post it. Just replace this topic's ID with that one and you'll find the thread I'm talking about)
So far I've been able to boot with the correct icons but I get strange force closes and weird patterns, especially in the little loading bars and in the volume bars. It's odd.
I've attached the .pngs and .xmls I would like to use - can anyone build a working framework-res.apk for Tranq's dark theme to use these icons/xmls, or at least tell me where I've gone wrong in creating my own?

Be careful I don't have Tranquility so I can't test it. Use it at your own risk.
Thanks

I'd be interested to know if it works out after the edits. On that note if you guys wouldn't mind if it does work I can get it off t oP3 so he could add it into his next update of TranQ.

Well if you have tranquility, you can try it out. I've already uploaded the file.

Well I do have it and run it, but atm I don't have the device in my possession. I lent it to a friend to use as they are waiting for a replacement so I'm using one of my other devices right now. If I get it back prior to hearin or seeing as reply here I will check it out tho.

Thank you. I've been rom-whoring recently and have settled down with Fission . If I install tranquility, I'll test it myself as well. GL
Nope, not working - now I just have a bootloop. Thanks for the effort though - maybe someone else could have a go at it?
Your best bet is to take the original DX-Tranquility_3.0.zip and modify it then install it again. Since this ROM does not require a wipe.
I did have issues at first when I tried to extract the zip then make my changes, but this link helped me figure out how to do it through 7zip. Once you are in the correct location you can add your new images to the “drawable-hdpi” folder.
I have done this and added different battery icons, changed the notification bar and replaced the "Verizon Wireless" text.
FYI:
I added "stat_sys_battery_0.png" through "stat_sys_battery_100.png" in increments of 10 with 5 and 15 added but it is still reporting 20% increments.

I'll concur as that is the same thing I've done to make some changes to framework-res. Its actually pretty simple to do once you have the files you want to add, and know the location of where they need to be. Kinda just turns into a drag & drop and you are done.
As for the reporting of 20% increments like you mention. I asked P3 about it and it is a thing with the X and the way the software is done by Moto/VZW. He has yet to get it working to report in 10% increments even if you have the images there.
I have seen other ROMs report that have 10% increments working but my guess if they are once that are fully built from source which TranQ is not.

Pushed to /sdcard with adb, moved to /system/framework/framework-res.apk with adb shell. Rebooted.
As for the 10% increments, that's achieved by editing the .xml that tells the OS what images to use at what battery percentage. Replacing already-used images is easy, but the .xml is encrypted. You'll have to use APKTool to decrypt it. The difficulty comes from re-encrypting properly.
You don't have to build from source to get the 10% working. I've done it for NexTheme and Revo for ApeX.
The file I uploaded was created via the same process. Only problem is that i'm not using Tranquility and can't test it. Furthermore, the level of P3droids mods may cause any changes to the framework to bootloop. I'll try to test it when I get home.

first off that is good to hear seeing as I've been told otherwise by many different people. And seeing as I don't know enough in general to question them I don't.
That said if you are willing and had the time if you could PM me the info on what needs to be changed I'll try it out myself. Least of my concern is a bootloop or brick to be honest. I have anything and everythign I'd need to get it back running again no matter what happens as it is pretty much next to impossible to completely brick one of these devices as long as you don't mess up the actual bootloader which would not be an issue in this case.
