Humble home screens - Verizon Droid Charge

noob question, but im new to the Humble rom. How do I get to the screen to delete/add home screens?

if its the stock launcher I don't think you can unless you hit the menu button and there's an option that says 'edit' or something.. I usually use 3rd party launchers with custom roms, Go Launcher and ADW being my favorites as they are very customizable and have lots of cool themes
blazing through on my 4G Droid Charge

Will that help my issue? All Im trying to do is make it so I can get rid of a couple home screens so I dont have 5 screens since I dont have enough icons or use for the extra two. But have the ability to add more later if I want.

nevermind, that does exactly what I need

Now I just need to find my favorite theme You have been most helpful today!

Hello guys, i just got my Xperia X10i yesterday and man i got so many questions cos i am abit confused. Well my first impression of the phone wasnt that good, the phone was abit boring with that one and only classic blue theme but today i found out the ADW launcher and got some new themes and i started to like the whole thing
Well to my questions now: Are there only those few(think they are like 10) ADW themes that are in the market that i can aply to the phone ?
On the market i can see different thems that requires the GDE thing, how can i get that ?
When i press the button in the middle of the phone, i can choose between the ADW.launcher, 91PandaHome, aHome Lite, Start and Timescape well for example the aHome Lite doesnt seem to work, neither the PandaHome, are they some sort of theme launchers too or what?
Well im currently using the ADW launcher and you know the bar with the wifi and bluetooth widgets just dissapeared how can i get that back ?
And last, i have been reading about rooting the phone, was does that mean? what does that do ? and can i do it by myself?
Thank you for any help and sorry for those noobish questions
I just want to know the phone abit better
GDE:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=697875
To get back the Wifi and Bluetooth , Press on the empty area, widgets - quick settings....
I can choose between the ADW.launcher, 91PandaHome, aHome Lite, Start and Timescape well for example the aHome Lite doesnt seem to work, neither the PandaHome, are they some sort of theme launchers too or what? Yes, they are......
I have been reading about rooting the phone, was does that mean? what does that do ? and can i do it by myself? Rootingis like Admin Access to the System and if you are used to Windows, then it is like changing Registry to edit the system..... For more Go to Android Development section and go through the Xploid One Click Root Topics, easy to root and also to Unroot. For your conv, I have added the .apk here....
There aren't many ADW Launcher themes at the moment.
They are launchers as well but you have to download them from The Market. There are more themes to choose from for PandaHome and aHome. I've tried them myself, and decided to stick with ADW. It all depends on your preference.
Add the power widget (Click the left button -> Add -> Widget -> Choose from the list)
Rooting is like attaining administrator rights on your computer.
If you are new, you should most probably use this tutorial on xperia10.net (Sorry, I am not allowed to post external links ) Of course you can use the link posted above. I just find the one on the external link more pedagogical.
However, you should investigate more about the pros and cons of rooting and having a rooted mobile before you decide to do it.
Thank you for the answers guys!
Well as for the aHome and PandaHome launchers where can i find those? I have been looking around on the market but couldnt find any launcher only the themes.
As for the rooting, what are the + things with it, is it worth trying?
I have been reading that things could get bad if you dont know what you are doing, like that you cant use the phone anymore if u do something wrong ?
As for the GDE thing i have read the thread and i understand that this not available until you pay it right ? cos you need to have a sort of password..
Anyway which do you think is the best launcher of all those ?
Thanks once again for your time!
Re: Beginer
Hey mate, I believe the best theme (launcher) for the xperia x10 is ADW by far. It lets you have more home screens and speeds up and saves the phones battery by alot. As for pandahome and GDE im sure they are on the market somewhere, but i can say (as i have used them) they are not as userfriendly as ADW is.
They just have alot of themes but ADW is more practical.
P.S alot of ADW's settings can be changed through their settings menu (home screen -> menu button -> ADW settings) play around with these and throw in a few backgrounds and cool widgets and trust me you can create much better themes than with other home alternatives (panda gde etc)
Enjoy

Stock Launcher2.apk Is Crazy Fast On Our Epics!! Root not required.

I am an AOSP stock experience fan boy so I immediately installed the stock 2.1 launcher on my Epic. Turns out it's ridiculously fast and buttery smooth.
3D effect and 5 home screens are included in this .apk. Root is not required for this to work.
Enjoy!
I think I love you..
Where'd you get that apk?
I don't find it as smooth.. I prefer Launcher Pro.

It works in landscape.
How does it compare to ADW?
This is nice but whatever happened to advanced launcher? It was a good aosp launcher from the 1.5 days and if I remember right you could hide apps from the drawer. Just a wonderin...

How to Turn Off/Disable TouchWiz:
I assumed not everyone knew this but you can disable the TouchWiz on the Epic:http://phandroid.com/2010/09/01/how-to-disable-touchwiz-on-the-epic-4g/
How to turn TouchWiz off. No Launcher App needed unless you want those personal features. No Root required. This is native:
You can just go to manage applications and hit menu and choose filter. scroll to TWLauncher and clear the default and when you press home button it will ask which home setting. choose the regular home and it will go to stock vanilla 2.1. And of course set the home you personally like as your default so it won't keep asking you which home setting do you want every time you hit the home button.
I just hope they keep this feature when it Froyo hits the device because some devices lose this feature when updated. Like the Hero did when 2.1 came to it. Doesn't make updates come quicker with this feature but it is nice to have. I do remember Samsung saying they would expect Froyo sometime this month for the Galaxy S. Let's hope that has some meaning to all versions.
Eh it doesn't work right in landscape on my phone. I switched back to Adwlauncher

It is only for 1.5 unfortunately, I liked it as well, and included it in most of my themes back then.
On the topic of this thread.....I am using ADW installed to /system/app/ and it is blazing fast as well. Suffice to say just about everything is fast on these phones.
Just curious here but you think it will work on the Vibrant and Captivate as well?
EDIT: Works on my Vibrant but fails to load widgets.

ADW and ADW EX,,,

So its a new year and I have a new toy,
I seem to have a set of apps that give me the functions and control I desire.
Its down to Launcher.
I did pay for the upgrade to the AWD EX and to my dismay it does not recognize old settings and desktop configurations. But hey.. Just more tinkering with my new SHINY...
My plan now that I have pretty much decided on the apps I want on the phone is to go to the Pick and Pack ROM with the Voodoo Kernel.
I do want to do some testing with the 3 different Launchers (AWD, Launcher Pro, and TW) and see which will suit my needs for Eye Candy and function..
OK.. to the question at hand. I will have all three on the phone installed. I do not like having to choose between the three every time I hit the HOME button. Is there a way to change the default once it is set ?
Hope to do a review for Noobs like me as I go.
Download the app home switcher and you can choose your default.

Home switcher is good stuff!
I prefer HomeSmack but either one works.
Sent from my Galaxy S.
If you do not want to use a home switcher you can use the built in one. When you hit home button, there should give you the option on which launcher you want to use. There is also a check box in this window that says use by default (or something like that I never read it) hit the check box then which program you want to go to. Now if you change your mind down the road all you have to do is go to menu-> settings->applications->manage applications Once in here you will find the program in question and click on it then clear defaults then it will start asking you again.

Thats what I was looking for.. Thanks..
HAHA As with all good gadgets, there is always a way to make em do what you want to do. Its usually just a simple matter of Banging ones head against the wall a few times and then asking those who know..
So far I like Launcher Pro the best, even though I don't use any of the widgets. Which one did you end up using as your default?
This is probably a stupid question, but I do like ADW but I really like the task manager widget from samsung.... anyway I can get that widget on ADW?
Unfortunately I have not found a way to use the stock Samsung widgets with ANY other Launcher other than Touch Wiz..
But by checking the various forums and doing some research on Market I can usually find something that will fill the need.
You can't have the widget on any other launcher, but if you hold down the home button to bring up the recent app switcher thing you can hit the Task Manager button on the bottom of the popup. It takes you to the same thing as tapping the samsung widget.
Good point... I forgot about that... if I need it bad enough I can put a shortcut for that app on the home screen too...

[Q] Customizing revolution 4g rom

First, I must preface this by apologizing about this post not being in a more relevant forum topic. I am barred from posting in the dev section until I reach 8 posts. I also have checked relevant links and tried searching about this, but if I failed at my searches, again I apologize.
So I flashed the Revolution 4g rom and really like it. The only thing I would like to change about it is the launcher/ADW (not sure what to call the bar with the phone button and such) to that of the no-sense rom. However, I would like to keep all the HTC sense widgets and apps. Is there a way to replace that feature using the rom cleaner found on that post? Is there a different solution to this problem?
Have you tried Launcher Pro? DL/install it and see if it does what you're wanting. If it doesn't, no harm no foul, just uninstall.
Tx
I just did, and it doesn't accomplish what I would like it to do. I'm looking for something that will replace the default launcher on the HTC home. This gives me an option and after choosing the launcherpro, I'm left without the widget from the HTC sense. Thank you for the suggestion and quick reply, though.

You mean they're gone, or they weren't where they were with the old launcher? You'll have to re-setup all your screens with the new launcher, but I thin sense widgets should still work.
What I meant was the HTC widgets aren't gone, I just can't choose them with launcherpro and I can't afford to pay for the plus version to unlock the launcherpro widgets.

[Q] How to create home screens, themes, etc?

Hello all,
New to the forums and I'm pretty much a complete newb to smart phones as well (I haven't had a cell phone in close to 5 years lol). Anyway, got a Galaxy S2 a couple weeks ago, started wondering about customization, etc and ran into this site.
Looking at some of the home screens you guys come up with, they are amazing.
But, I honestly have no idea where to start to make my own. Do I need to root my phone to do this stuff? Or, is it as simple as downloading some themes and icons and installing them?
I don't mind reading and/or teaching myself how to do it, but, if someone could just point me the right direction I would appreciate it.
Thanks in advance for any help. Cheers.
actually , you have no need to root your phone if you just want to change some icons or themes , but you may change your launcher so you can use those themes or dock icons that you have download in xda .
Try different launchers to replace your standard home, they're all good. Adw is what I normally use, launcher pro is good, go launcher also.
sinkster
I was actually curious about this too. I like PyroMod, but I think the Opacity of the windows should be closer to 80% and the notification fonts should be white instead of black. What specifically do I need to modify for this to work?
Thanks for the replies.
I downloaded and installed Launcher Pro, just to try...I have read about ADW and a couple others that I will try as well once I get the hang of this thing.
Are there any problems that may pop up with the phone using 2 launchers? I guess not or you guys wouldn't be using them.
im using launcher pro and zeam launcher and i had no problems so far
Without rooting, you can change icons on your homescreen (using a home replacement app and/or Desktop Visualizer), use modified widgets as long as they're not system apps, customize your lock screen with WidgetLocker, and of course change your wallpaper. You can also use something like Multipicture LWP to do a bit more creative stuff - like embedding icons on the wallpaper in PS and stuff.
With rooting you can do all of those things, plus modify your status bar & notification icons, change icons for apps officially (not just on the homescreen), modify system apps or remove them, etc etc. If you have no reason to root, don't. It's a common misconception that you have to root to make your phone look good. While it definitely helps, it's not necessary.
If you do plan on rooting and are interested in theming, see if MIUI is available for your device. You may like it, and the theming possibilities are endless. If you don't like it or it isn't available, other roms have theming built in as well - CM7 is one that comes to mind.

Rooting might be something I would think about down the road, but, being so new to this I will probably hold off for now. I wouldn't mind unlocking it at some point though as I do travel to the States a couple times a year and would like the freedom that provides for my trips.
Thanks for the detailed reply, it is appreciated and I will look into some of those apps that you mentioned.
