just bought a second hand Infuse from Amazon seller.
Came like new - stock rom. Inserted my ATT sim, and all works besides the DATA!
Went to the ATT store - they didn't figure this out (although I must question the rather incompetent feeling I got form the 20 year old lady working there).
I did follow this guide:
http://www.att.com/esupport/article...the+Samsung+Infuse+4G+(i997)#fbid=K5lWUKt8c8v
with NO RESULTS!
Any suggestions before I go through the long RMA process with the seller?
THANKS A MILLION!!!
Call AT&T (on seperate phone) they'll prob need some info and then runs some tests with phone to check if your data is on.
Same happened to me when I first got my infuse coming from a cappy

Did you set up a new APN?
Ahhhh sorry my friend, what is an APN?
APN = Access Point Name
Maybe give this a shot:
Menu -> Settings -> Wireless -> Mobile Network -> Access Point Names
Click on "menu" (left button) then "new APN" then enter these:
Name: ATT
APN: wap.cingular
Proxy: <leave blank>
Port: <leave blank>
username: [email protected]
Password: CINGULAR1
Server: <leave blank>
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS proxy: wireless.cingular.com
MMS port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Authentication type: <leav this blank>
APN type: internet + mms
click "menu" then "save"
then select the one you entered
OR
you can reset to default under settings
There are various suggested APNs out there in the dev forums. Just do a search on APN in these forums.

No sweat. No guarantees, but check updated post. Fixed a few control-paste typos.
Calling them up is your best bet. I also got mine second hand. My data wouldn't work for anything (i thought i just bought a defective device) but after some changes on AT&T's end, a hard reset, and a reset of APN's, it worked. Ive been perfect since.

Also if you are not on the correct data plan it won't work right. I get these calls all day long. These 4g phones have the ha data plans

Would like to know if this worked, I have the exact same issue today.
I'm already on an Atrix 4g, so I know my sim and plan are correct.
Did a reset of default APNs, and rebooted a couple of times.
Will take it into the ATT store as soon as I have time.

Thanks, that worked. Network speed seems a bit slower than my atrix, but I'm in a poor coverage area now.
I'll look up some other APN's tonight and try them out, this got me going.
Appreciate the reply.

So i bought a new Galaxy SII Skyrocket Last Night i rooted it correctly and everything but ive installed cyanongen mod 7 and it wouldnt give me data , so i tried ICE Cream Sandwhich RC5_b and it wouldnt give me data. so far no roms wont give me my data. can someone tell me how to fix this ?
plz no flamming im just needing help ive never came across this problem before on any other android phone. thanks.
This is in the wrong spot for questions but the answer is flash back to a stock rom and download an app called apn backup run it, then install cm7, download the app again and then restore apn data that should fix the issue
CM7 SkyRocket
Make sure use packet data is checked. Also if u havent you need to call att so they can provision you for an lte plan. Then your data will work but you need too call att they need to know u have the skyrocket. You can not just put in a sim from another phone it works on the other phones but not the new lte ones.
Silver, my data worked fine before i installed a custom rom. so its not that, and i do i need a lte plan ? cuz i dont think im gonna get a plan like that cuz i have unlimited everything through att. ive been a customer with them for yrs! so yea. id rather just get it working without a plan..

Do exactly what droid512 said and you will be fine. Cm7 is based on the tmobile version of the Galaxy 2 so it messes with your apn settings a bit. So just get them switched back and you should be good to go

I recently got a used i9020a for AT&T and for some reason it continually drops its data connection. I immediately put Koush's latest CM9 release on it, I am not sure I even have stock firmware for it (got it used with other custom ROM on it). The bars do not drop, the bars stay at full connection, but the data completely halts to and from the phone it seems like. I cannot even download a 2MB file without it stopping half way. Then after a minute or two, the data connection will come back only to drop again.
It basically makes the phone entirely unusable.
It is using my iPhone 4S SIM card (I would like to switch between phones).
I tried to run a speedtest.net speediest, and here are my abysmal results:
Code:
Ping: 1333ms
Download: 77kbps
Upload: 10kbps
What??????
I am running Koush's latest CM9 release:
Code:
Network: AT&T
Mobile network type: HSDPA:9
Baseband version: i9020xxkb3
My APN is setup as:
Code:
Name: ATT
APN: wap.cingular
Username: [email protected]
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
MMS port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
APN type: default,supl,mms
APN protocol: IPv4
Does anyone know what is going on here?
EDIT: tried a second ROM, still the same speed issue.

Thanks, bud. I flashed Radio UCKF1 and that has me up to 1Mbps down and 200Kbps up. Gives me hope it's not a hardware problem. I will try different radios now. Thanks for your response.
EDIT: Beautiful, with this tweak I now have 3.5Mbps down and 300Kbps up. That's just about on-par with my iPhone 4S. thanks again.

Hi.
With Gingerbread and radio XXKF1 the data connection worked very fine.
After I updated at ICS (wipe and flash the rom) with XXKI1, the data connection is slower than with XXKF1: why?
Sometimes it don't connect.
It is a i9023 with ICS stock, unlocked and rooted.
Thanks.
Bye!
! !
It works very fine now.
Maybe there were some problem with the antenna in my zone.
Bye!
! !
Ive seen a couple thread that claim to get you up and running using a Tmobile Sim card in a Verizon Galaxy S3, none of them worked, either no data connection, dialer crashes, or no signal. I really needed to get this working, and i finally have!
Requirements:
Must have this ROM installed (This is what i used, you might try other JB ROMs) ---->http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1974114
Root access after flashing JB factory image
APN Manager PRO (Must be pro)
Titanium Backup PRO (also must be pro)
Process:
Flash the Jelly Bean factory image as outlined in the link above, make sure to follow through the entire OP, phone will NOT be rooted after flashing so take care to install CWM after rooting in order to Flash SU and unlock the bootloader.
NOTICE:
At this point you can stick a Tmobile (Possibly AT&T?) sim in the phone, go to mobile networks and you should get a message saying "Switch to global?" hit OK. You should then have bars. if you dont get the "Switch to global" message click around in mobile networks, or switch it yourself (options are GSM, CDMA, or Global. Not sure if choosing GSM will work, I only confirmed Global)
Once you're all set and rooted on the JB ROM, install TBP and APN manager PRO. Using TBP convert APN Manager pro to a system app (Under backup/restore click APN manager pro and select convert to system app). Open up APN manager pro, Select Insert APN, and plug in your T-Mobile APN info which are readily available on the web (make sure to include the MMS fields if you want MMS to work) I used these:
http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-1979
Restart Phone, go back to mobile networks, should get a message asking to switch to Global, hit yes. Congratulations, you now have a Verzion S3 woking with a T-Mobile SIM! At this point only Edge works, i might mess around a bit more to see if 3g/HSPA+ speeds are possible.
Credits:
Credit goes to open1your1eyes0 for the wonderful write up explaining how to flash the JB factory image.
Credit goes to lair12 for the original guide to use the S3 as a global phone, didnt work fully for alot of people but is a great starting point.

Hey MustangFTW, I'm still having trouble getting any network connection happening. Not even EDGE.
EDIT:
Nevermind! I got Data to work!
Follow every step of MustangFTW, but put these values in for full functionality on a T-Mobile sim:
Name: T-Mobile Data (or T-Mobile US)
APN: epc.tmobile.com

After reboot, to make sure, enable that APN by selecting it from the APN List of the APN Pro app.
Then check APN Settings under Mobile Network to make sure it is enabled, then Global. Then, have fun!
As you can see in the Screen Shot, I currently have Data and it works!
Hope we can get full 4G fix in the future, plus T-Mobile is merging towers with Verizon by the end of 2012, so hope for better connection.
EDIT----------------------------------
Add the following...
MMS proxy: 216.155.165.50
MMS seems to be working for me on the latest CM10.1 with the following APN and added MMS proxy.

All you would need to do is get a US Cellular APN,
---------- Post added at 06:48 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:47 PM ----------
I'm not sure, but I do not think this will work with CM10 or AOKP, due to that they don't have the Global Function even with the Phone Info app.
If someone has a fix for this, please tell! Thanks ;D
You can only use US Cellular phones on their network if I am not mistaken. The CDMA networks (sprint, verizon,us cell) don't allow eachother's phones on their networks.

Hello
I have a Samsung Galaxy S4-I337 (32GB AT&T black mist version). I cannot get MMS to work on my device at all.. I've tried to use many different APN settings, but none of them work for MMS.. The data, calling and texting all work fine though...
1. I should probably mention that I tried to unlock using this method ---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2282683
2. Immediately, my Galaxy S4 started to show "Samsung Custom 'open lock symbol'" while starting... Is this normal?
3. My phone is now unlocked and a quick google search revealed that this could be the problem. So I went ahead and re-locked my phone by tracing my steps back as mentioned in the above thread. I still could not manage to get the MMS to work.
4. I then flashed the stock ROM using Odin and still the MMS does not work.
Could you please suggest something? I'm using the AT&T version SIM of StraightTalk...
1. I tried to send a picture message to my wife's phone, it shows as successfully sent on my Galaxy S4 but my wife's iPhone4S does not receive it...
2. I tried to send a picture message from my wife's iPhone to my Galaxy... That fails immediately...
Any help appreciated... Thanks for your time

Hiya everyone, I'm new to this and I need some help.
OK, here's the story. My father has (HAD) a T-Mobile Samsung Note 2. He signed up himself my mom my grandma and his coworker up for att's "Framily" plan. He included me as well. Everyone got new att Note 3s and I got my dads's old note 2 (love it!). Now here's the problem. Since my original carrier was tmobile, att says they cant provide lte to me. My family has 4g lte and can go on the internet pretty much anywhere but not me ): Is it possible that I flashed an att note 2 rom to my phone. Would that work? It's just a thought. Thanks in advance !

My family has 4g lte and can go on the internet pretty much anywhere but not me ): Is it possible that I flashed an att note 2 rom to my phone. Would that work? It's just a thought. Thanks in advance !

Hello Noob partner!
I don't own a SGNoteII but what I have readed about it is that in this case Samsung did a stock ROM as good as it doesn't worth to install a custom ROM, because all of features you are going to lose

Stop right there and don't do anything!! If you flash a at&t ROM to a T-Mobile note 2 it will soft brick the note 2 which is a pain in the butt to fix. At&t Roms will ruin the phone because they are custom made for a certain modem and custom kernel only applicable to at&t note 2s, in other words you would royally screw up your note 2 hips this helps ....
