I don't see you showing a better screenshot.

I have never been over 24 hours with my normal usage. With heavy usage it's maybe 18 or less hours.I really don't understand people say they have still %54 battery life after 30 hours since they unplug the battery.
Are you connecting continously on wifi/3g?
Are you getting gmail/facebook/twitter synch.about hourly?
Are you surfing on web min.1 hours in a day?
These are what i do with juice defender 15.minutes interval connection with not too much talk on phone.
If you do these and your battery goes 2 days, please tell me how to do.

For the most part, people don't use their phone. I don't have a picture of it, but yesterday I had 32% left when I started charging my phone, and it's up-time was 2 days and 2 hours. That was only possibly because my total screen on time was only 1.5 hours—in 2 days, remind you. I also disable Wifi, 3G, etc. when I'm not using it.

This is what i mean.We are not observing stand-by time.We should talk about our battery life according to our usage.

Different people use their phones for different things, and for a largely different amount of time each day. I find the most accurate representation of "daily usage" is to have the time since unplugged and the display on-time figures. Maybe the OP would consider adding a 2 picture requirement for this thread?

Also guys put into consideration extended batteries. I just put one in my evolution and omg incredible I've only lost 20% since 330pm and its now 950pm. running juice defender with tia 337 on evodeck 1.3d

So ok, my screenshot wasn't a typical day of use for me A normal day I would plug in the phone at the end of the day with roughly 25-30 percent left (so on average roughly 14 hours between time unplugged and plugged in). My screen shot was a weekend shot, when I don't use the phone much, as you can tell.
This shot is more typical of a normal day for me.
Miui rom, tiamat kernel, Oc'd 1.2ghz... this was taken a few months back.

I don't know anyone having an Android phone, and to have enough battery for more than 2 days. It's because of the touch screen and hardware, not the OS.

I agree. Its totally pointless having a single screen shot that shows a %.
I think we should ask each person to show the "on" time for the the top 2-3 % hoggers to see how much was actually "used".
This is especially helpful when it comes to the display.
For ex: My screen shot will also show display as 45-50% of the battery hog....BUT I only get 90 minutes of "on" time as opposed to 3-4 hours like many seem to get.
That's at the lowest brightness setting mind you
Also---what device are we using with which rom etc etc might be useful to know as well.

I think the kernel is the biggest indicator. When I run a rom on stock kernel (Sense 2.2 for example) on 1ghz I get about 50% less use (both standby and screen on time) than the same kernel but with overclock and undervolt. Undervolt kernels are really the best thing and I think the time that it takes to tune it to the lowest stable voltages for your specific phone really pay off.

i made a post few months back in the SGS2 forum showing nearly 2 days on battery stats with stock rom (i left my SGS2 at home and carried around my bb the whole weekend)

No, it's the OS. The OS requires insane hw to run smoothly, so you can't blame the hw makers.
On the other hand, I can easily get 2+ days with very light GPS usage, lots of Facebook and web, ton of SMS and Spotify streaming. Of course my OS had about 10 years to mature and doesn't insist on constantly being connected to the 'net. Oh, all this without any programs or custom ROMs or the undervolting nonsense.

***Post Your Battery Usage Here***

Post your real numbers of what you get chaps, it will be interesting to see what some get over others.
Over night Standby Loss=30%
Average day I get 12 hours before needing a charge.
I have
WIFI on,
GPS off
Auto Brightness
but nothing is set to sync I do it all manually.
with setcpu and juicedefender i lose about 5% over night

sounds like a big drain if you have lg vip service ( free in NL ), call lg and ask a replacement.
My first o3d was like that and the new one I lose 3-5% overnight with no TP app ( juice garbage etc )
Wifi on
Sync on
Auto brightness
GPS 0ff
Edit: main bettery user seems to be 3d gameloft games, I can get 24hours with some 3d youtube a lof wifi browsing and a 3d picture now and then
I am using a custom rom and it has gamesloft removed and lots of other stuff.
12 hours, 24 if i dont touch it

Over night Standby Loss= 0%, some other nights I get about 4% loss, I don't know why!
Average day I get 24 hours before needing a charge, or extra one half a day, depending on the use.
I have :
WIFI off, I turn it on when I need that and I do that a lot.
GPS off.
Auto Brightness.
Sync on.
Playing Cut the rope for a while.
Taking some 2D/3D videos and pictures.
Yehaww
I get about 7-8 hours but I'm ALWAYS on my phone. Always.... normal for me
I would say I get what I need.
I have the phone from 6:40am till 10pm with 20%-10% battery left.
My use is:
WIFI all the time.
3G (data transfer) off all the time.
GPS off.
Default Brightness.
Sync on.
Playing Angry Bird, Slice Fruit and a bit of Golf 3D and listening music while going and coming back from work (2hrs journey return).
And obviously making/receiving some phone calls.
Now, lately, I've been playing a LOT of Golf 3D (got really addicted ) so from my house to my work I've lost 30%-40% battery.
When I go to my break I play another 30 minutes and the battery is already on its 40%-30%.
So basically I have to charge it at work.
During the night the phone is ALWAYS charging so I don't know how much the phone would drain.
Wifi on
Data off most of the time
Sync on
No 3d
Average time 10-14 hrs
Very dissapointed...i have to carry charger everywhere...LG software is battery unoptimized
Sent from my LG-P920 using Tapatalk
Charged 24 hours ago, lost 4% overnight. Played about 30 minutes of Myth Defense, took 7 3D photo's, two calls and three text messages and have 68% left.
Wifi on
Sync on
3G/HSDPA on
GPS off
Wifi localization on
Brightness 55%
Phone is on v10D and rooted. Got a couple of background processes like WhatsApp and battery/time/weather widgets.
The first week it was pretty bad but now I'm quite content.
You have to take into consideration that the phone has a very large screen with dualcore processor. I think the largest capacity battery you can get for this phone without drastically enlarging the casing is about 1980mAh which will give you (just an estimation) about an hour more juice. If you want the phone to last two days on one charge with normal use it would've been twice as large and a lot heavier.
I don't understand how some can get such better battery life when they use the phone more than I do.
Is it the different launchers, what do people use.

What worrys me about that is that your Android System stat says that it is using 15% were as mine says it is using 53%. That just doesn't seem normal.
My Android System is using 33% and it is the one that uses most my battery.

Nice app man. Im gonna check that out. My experience of battery monitors has always been that they eat more battery than they help you conserve but that one looks interesting.
There are parts on that graph that say it is consuming absolutely no power at all. That seems off likes.

Here ya go, after over 14 hours. The top one is RF2011 3D which I played about 5 minutes. Besides RF2011 I played just over half an hour of Wordfeud. The rest of the time the phone was in standby and as you see it still has about 70% charge. My Android System only used 3% in these 14 hours as you can see in my screenshot.

Android OS battery use in ICS

I've tried just about every ICS ROM out there and every time I notice that Android OS tops the battery use graph. It's reporting more than screen use!
Is there a reason for this, and does anyone know a solution?

well i'm using onecosmic's ics rom and it's fantastic, but i found it weird that my Android OS process was almost doubling my display usage.
I´m using AOSP+ Rom with Speedy-3 Kernel. It´s the same that Android OS alwaly stands on top of the "usage-List" but battery life is normally about 1,5 - 2 days with normal use.
Yeah, I've started to realise it's a problem with the graph, not the actual usage. Battery lasts just as long as on ginger bread.

Oh really? I'm getting slightly less battery now than I ever have on any ohter custom ROM, and I don't think it's because ICS is less efficient.
I don't think my phone is sleeping properly, as I'm losing about 3% an hour with my phone off, nothing going on except for the usual google syncs, which i've always had on on any rom.
Total I'm getting about 12-13 hours, and it's not my display topping off usage, but android OS. My keep awake times seem pretty ridiculous given that they're always greater than the culmunative time spent out of deepsleep (according to cpu spy)
which kernel are you guys using?

I doubt it, the battery life is a good 5-7 hours less than GB with the same usage. the android OS is definitely preventing it from sleeping properly. GB would barely loose 5-7% during an idle of about 7-8 hours, now i loose close to 20%+
I've been using oICS v43 and Steve's Awesome Sauce kernel (aosp linked it from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...64221&page=503). I was able to get 17hrs of battery with medium-heavy use (Netflix, Droid TV Prime Time, Browsing, File Downloading, Texting, Couple Calls, and Wifi Always On). If I let it run without using it, I'm looking at 60+ hrs of battery life.
I'm trying Matrix v14 right now. Will let you know results.
Tested it with cpu spy, cleared all timers and left my phone 10 hours over night. On settings the os was on top but cpu spy said my phone was in deep idle 9.5h of 10. I got updates for weather every hour and a bad wireless signal so that COULD take 30 min of awake considering it also have to get my location.
Im soooo trusting cpu spy over the standard battery history so I also belive it could be a log problem instead of a real awake bug.
I got aosp+2.2 and speedy3

I do agree with you. Similar behaviour with my NS. That Android OS consumption even higher than my Screen, yet I still manage to clocked 24-30h with my moderate usage.
* I use full ROM instead of Update one.
I'm not sure if people are not using their phones, but I'm already at half battery life and I just unplugged less than 5 hours ago. I'm on eugene's kernel and tried Matrix's as well, both haven't help along with the oICSv43. I've been closing out my programs after I opened them too. I just bought the phone/battery off ebay, the battery is a samsung and it was in a sealed plastic bag, so it should be brand new, but I could be wrong.
I'm almost ready to go back to stock.
You dont have to be a genious to seal a plastic bag. If the seller was ebay trusted then it should be good and you should look somewhere else. For me for ex, low brightness using loggraph improves battery more than any kernel.

I'll try that as well. Should I try a different rom before I go back to stock?

I never heard of these roms, I'm on Sprint.
With My Xoom, when I had honeycomb installed with Airplane Mode enabled I could easily leave the Xoom on my counter for a couple of weeks and I would still have a 20-30% of battery power.
Since I installed the EOS Nightly ICS build the tablet eats up 30% of battery power after only 4 hours even on Airplane mode.
Something is definitely amiss here.

Sorry, got to disagree with you there. With wifi never asleep, overnight my phone drained 5% in 10 hours. This is about double what i got with gingerbread. I never use deep idle, which is more for people who use their phones with the screen off, e.g. listening to music, downloading torrents.

Battery life

I'm looking to get a thunderbolt today and was wondering how has every ones battery life been. I'm making the switch from a ip4. So I hope doing the right thing. iOS is just getting so stale I want something new. So has is your battery life once u rooted and on the stock battery.

Battery probably around same or slightly worse, but its 4g and 32 gig, its easily rooted, alot of different roms n looks, its really great, and ive only had 8 days. I am a advanced flasher also, done roms atleast 1000 times.

Thanks. If I can root n get at least 8 hours min. I'm fine. I'm just getting tired of the whole apple experience.
Thats easy, on most 2.1/3.0, aosp, overclocking not necessary, i can get 10-12 hours, n i dont care, i got 3 chargers. Its a good phone imo. U can run 3.5 with beats easy on this phone, but 2.1 with sound enhancer is just s good.

I can get around 7hrs on stock and about 16hrs on extended. Running ICS ROM
Luke
It depends on how u use it.
This is what I have left after few calls, browser, exchange+gmail+Facebook sync & 1 hr of Pandora
Only MIUI ROM so far I could achieve this. The other rom Ive tried is shiftao5p
Lastly if u are in 1-2 bars area, your battery will run out fast

I bought the rezound battery and noticed a pretty big difference. Also, I finally gave up sense roms and went with liquid smooth 3.2. Battery has been phenomenal. I can get through an entire day, even on 4G and moderate to heavy usage (screen on 4 hours) and not worry about battery until I'm in my bed messing around before I'm about to plug in and fall asleep.
Edit: here is me on wifi all day using up the battery with almost 4 hrs screen on time. On pure 3g 4G I'd be closer to 20-30 percent.
My GF has the extended battery and can go two days without charging (light use)
Loving the phone by by iPhone but anyway. Just rooted and messing around with these roms. Just don't know which one to stick with their are so many.
I'm on the stock rom and with light usage can easily get a full day out of a charge (I'm using the rezound battery now, but was similar with the stock battery). With very light usage, i can even make it overnight and through at least most of the next day on a full charge. Gaming, navigation, or a lot of downloading can run down the battery quickly. My so has an iphone4s and doesn't seem to get a ton better battery life.

Almost 5 hours of display on time. Mix in about 6 hours of sleeping but lots of Texting, rootz, xda, and Twitter. Imo kernel undervolted not overclocked, and 12 hours were in a bad signal area at my work in hospital I am talking -102 so battery could be better.

I get around 8-10 hours on fairly regular use and towards 12 when I use it lightly. The biggest difference maker for me was not JuiceDefender or any battery saver program like that. It was using SetCPU once I rooted my phone and setting a profile up so when my screen is off, the processor drops to the ~200 MHz range. Definitely a must-have program for anyone who is rooted.
i keep everything running at max and carry a second battery pack with me... ill just swap them and am back to 100%... 2 full loads bring me through the day usually.
I suggest you to check this post and these batteries. This will solve any power issues you might have with your Tbolt
The rezound batteries work in the bolt also.

root + SetCPU
Pretzel pretty much hit the nail on the head. Once I rooted the phone I froze all of the stock bloatware, then installed SetCPU. Like Pretzel said, make it so when phone is asleep it only runs @ ~200mhz. Also do small things like turn screen brightness down and make backlight timeout 15 seconds.
Also, I cannot stress this enough
Your battery life will drastically change depending on what apps you have installed. When I download a new app I try to limit it to one at a time and watch my phone for the next few hours and see if my battery is running out quicker than usual. This has happened so many times to me where I install something with a 80% battery and then like 4 hours later its dead.
So with just the stock Rom, rooted, bloatware frozen, SetCPU, and about 60 battery friendly apps, I can get usually around 20 hours with light to moderate use.
The biggest difference on battery drain is if you have LTE enabled. Just download LTE OnOff and only turn it on when needed.

What was your battery life like?

I just want to know how your battery life would last for you because I would have to charge my phone 3 times a day.
Please post your opinion

you are probably a heavy user. I charge my phone (on average) every 2 days.
Not sure what ROM or kernel you're running, but I'm running the latest "Team Acid" version of AOKP with latest kernel it comes with and I have no problems with my battery. Of course I that's just with normal use (texting, calling, viewing xda via app, gtalk and some web browsing). My battery usually still has any where between 30% and 50% by night time when i place on my dock for the night to charge. Time of use is from 5 am to about 9 pm.
The way I use my phone, I was lucky to get through from 6 A.M. to 6 P.M. without having to charge with GB and the AntonX kernel. My life was comparable using the stock TeamAcid AOKP ICS ROM and kernel. Undervolting an additional 75 mV, allowing overclocking to 1200 MHz, and using the smartassv2 governor I seem to be able to get through the day, but definitely need to plug in in the evening if I didn't charge during the day.
The biggest run-time improvement for me was a new battery. Even the 1500 mAh Samsung battery I got as a spare was significantly better than my 18-month-old 1650 mAh Samsung that came with my phone.
Better Battery Stats is an indispensable app for gathering information in understanding why your battery life may not be as good as it could be. Looking at the ICS monitor of data usage (or My Data Manager, which will run on GB as well) can provide good insights as well. By watching the output of those, removing/freezing some apps that I don't need that wakelock the phone, setting "quiet hours," turning off WiFI at night, and not dropping to "2G/GSM" for background data transfer, I am typically around 90% charge after ~8 hours of "really idle" overnight. It is a couple percent lower if it is a night that Titanium Backup runs a scheduled backup.
I would get around 15 hours of fairly heavy use. I was running barebones with antonx oc/uv kernel I was undervolted and using the 2300 mah battery

My battery life is unrealistic. This is most the reason I post roms and share them with you. I cannot gauge how well a rom will behave until more "use cases" exercise the phone's abilities.
For one, I don't have t-mobile anymore, so the RIL doesn't behave the way it does on your phone (when you are on t-mobile), because I only get edge. I don't use this phone as my daily driver, so I don't pack the phone up with a bunch of applications or multimedia (videos, mp3s, etc...).
With that my phone gets really great battery life.
Right now my 'herring r7' rom (to be released soon) has me at 3h 16m on battery @ 97%. I'm sure the time will continue to go up and battery usage will slowly decay. I really won't know how it will act until I release it and wait for you guys to respond.
I hope that gives you a little view into why I can't always gauge how a rom is going to act and why it is so important that I get feedback.
Thanks guys bug I'm running the latest Team Acid CM9 with Hefe's kernel and battery life is just terrible, my battery lasts about 4 hrs at 96%. Not sure if its my battery that needs replacing but anyone have suggestions on improving battery life?

I got "better battery stats" from the market.
The developer has a thread somewhere here on xda.
It is a great tool for figuring out what is running so often that is eating your battery.
With that, I've found that doing a factory reset, wiping everything (including my sdcard, after backing it up... of course), makes sure nothing residual is around to make applications go wacky. I don't use TB or any other tools to restore backed up apps. I either do it manually with adb or just reinstall stuff from the market. I never restore data.
Where can I find your new rom when its ready

Battery life means nothing without listing display time. My SGS4G is currently at 5 days. However when I actually used it as my daily phone I would get about 4 hours display over the course of a normal day. 3½ display time if I used it for much gaming or YouTube streaming.

4 hours
It all depends. Playing HD youtube over 4G with brightness turned up full and checking email every 2 mins, etc is going to kill it a lot faster than data/wifi turned off, screen at the lowest brightness and sitting in your pocket without the screen on. There is no test benchmark to test ROM's for this, because even things like how far you are away from the router, if you're connected B/G/N could all effect the battery life, so it's hard to get a standard test. Here is an average day for me though.
This is Remics, no real tweaks, smartass2 governor running. Few hours of music, pedometer tracking in the background to track walking for an hour or so, bit of surfing, instagram pic taking and uploading, editing for an 30 mins oror so, installed 3 other camera last night and rebooting and playing around, lots of suduko, hour or so of youtube, lots of txting, ummm, tested a wifi calling apps that worked good for about 30mins, I can't remember what else over the past 26hours and still 26% left.

I'm lucky to get 6 hours.

[Q] Might be getting a N5! But the battery...

How is the battery life? From what I have seen its mixed some people are getting good and others are getting terrible. I normally use the screen in total maybe 3-4 hours a day and playing music from google play about an hour total so could I make it through a charge on that?
it will depend on the quality of your phone/data connection mostly, and how you set up your phone. i use purely lte, as i have a great lte connection, and see a minimum of 5-5.5 hours screen on time.

That's sweet dude. I'm getting 3-4 hours screen time. But my idle is pretty good. Getting around a 30% drain every 8hrs with one of the hours screen on and another for phone calls. Then some various data usage. How do you get such good screen time? Mind if I ask you your load out?
I'm using mahdi +Franco 32. Greenified. Tweaked dalvik and bionic libraries

Battery life for me has been nothing short of stellar. 5 hrs screen time, can go 2 full days on a charge if need be. With all the moaning about the battery size I expected horrible battery life. That's definitely not the case.

Reviewers say its bad battery life, because stock kernel uses so much unecessary power. Flash a custom kernel and I reached 2.5 days with light - medium use (4 hrs sot).

I've had a handful of Android devices and this is the best battery life I have ever experienced.
I've gotten over 5 hours SOT in one day of heavy use.
Over the last weekend, I went 2 days off the charger with 2.5 hours of SOT on LTE only and still had 35% battery remaining when I plugged in for a charge.
I'm running completely stock and rooted.

i get 5 hours of screen on time on my nexus 5(not rooted.) but the thing is,there is 3g or 4g here in my country(goddammit).so 2g drains very little battery. My brightness is is somewhere between 30-100% and wifi is usually on.all time.i use tasker to cut the brightness to zero when the sceen is off.
Yesterday I got 13 and a half hours out of 50% of my battery before I set it on the wireless charger.

I get 5+ hours SOT and 2+ days use with stock kernel just fine...
I've seen in other threads that people have proved that the battery can last longer than the s4.
I'm just about at 9 hours. Just casual browsing xda forums and 5-10 mins at a time.
1.5hrs screen time and only just dropped to 86% while writing this.

I get around 2-3 hours of screen time. If you don't mess with your phone and install custom kernels and undervolt and all that, I guess that's that you get. I would say battery is comparable to the iPhone 5s.
This is with sync off and location off btw.
I'm getting excellent battery life as well. On days of light usage I don't even need to plug it in when I go to bed, I just top it up while I get ready for work in the morning. On days when I use it heavily, I still have 30% or more left before putting it down for the night. Screen time varies from 2-5 hours, depending on what exactly I've been doing and how good my signal is. I have no issues at all with the battery performance, it's awesome.
Any bets on when dicecuber will appear in this thread to tell us how absolutely terrible the battery is?
Using Franco kernel, 4.5hrs SOT is a walk in the park. It's better than my SGS4 I came from.

Battery life is not a worry I get better time on this then any of my previous phones and have no worry's of it lasting through the day. Although I am a little jealous of my wife's insane battery life on her xperia z1.
