Barcode scanning (trying) - Samsung Infuse 4G

Frustrating that my Infuse has such difficulty scanning those barcodes you find in magazines...occasionally it works but most often it just continually tries to focus.
oh well...tried cleaning the lens but suppose not much else to do?
I suppose this is a case of some infuse's work fine, others don't.

If you hold it too close to the QR code it might not work.

Which app are you using?

@OP: Its not just on sites online, I even use the bar code scanner when in stores too, directly on the item in shelf, on clothes, and lots more. And each time it works perfectly.

QR Droid and mobiletag.
The times it does work is in stores. Maybe it's the magazine?

Make sure you have good lighting and are not to close to the code itself. I've never had a problem except when it's been too dark. And like an earlier poster, I use it quite frequently.
Try Barcode Scanner v3.53 out of the market and Google Goggles

There's no need to get the phone right up against the magazine. QR Droid is the best scanning app I've used and it's worked flawlessly for me even at off-angles and in crap lighting. Can't say enough good things about QR Droid.

QR Droid is a quality app. Very powerful with a lot of options.
I find myself using Barcode Scanner more often only because its ready to scan immediately and most of what I scan is real world through the camera.

I use barcode scanner as well and never have any issues at all. Always scans barcodes and qr codes within a couple of seconds max.

I set my default actions in QR Droid accordingly and then create a shortcut on the home screen to the "Scan barcode with Camera" activity in QR, so I have instant scan-and-go.

Try ShopSavvy. Been using this for a few months now with no issues. Gives good price comparisions too when checking out stuff in stores.

I use qr pal and it works for most except when the codes are tiny it does have problems. Lol I do want to add that I stopped because I never scanned anything useful

I'll have to check Shopsavvy out.

[Q] How to disable automatic login to Market

On my Android phone there is no prompt for password before buying a paid app. I would like to be prompted for password before buying paid apps from Market.
This feature is present with iPhones.
I tried google and and forums - could not find a solution.
My friend's 4 year old bought 2 apps when he was given the phone to play for sometime and I noticed after 30 mins only (15 minutes is the cancellation time frame).
I am on Froyo & have an HTC Desire
Try app lock by creative core on the market. Then he could put a password on the market and any other app he doesn't want the kid getting into. Its free and ad supported but u can get a key to remove ads in market.

[Q] What is the best "find my phone" app?

I did a search in the "infuse" forum and couldn't find a thread.
What is the best app out there to lock, clean and/or find your phone? The best one on the market looks to be "Lookout Mobile Security". Any ideas?
Lookout is what I run, its pretty nice and it works. I have the free version but there is a paid one, I believe it has one or 2 more feature. The free one with give you app scanning, lost or stolen phone location (tested and works) and a quite nice feature of sending a siren noice to your phone if you happen to misplace your phone while on vibrate.

I've got SeekDroid on my phone.
Phonelocator pro. Everything it's done by text command, nothing running in the background. Battery life has no affect unlike others. Also if your rooted copy the apk to your system and u could auto enable GPS.

i love lookout mobile security. you can track your phone on their website. and you can make it "scream" if you cant find it, even if its on silent. it also has an "antivirus" which im not sold on (its linux, its not a window "virus"). it has more advanced features too if you pay for them.
I'm using SeekDroid. I was using Lookout before but felt like it was using up my battery life.

Actually its not really antivirus, just similar to anti-malware, like rouge apps
Phone locator pro is the best out there. It even turns gps on if you have it off

well it's a three way tie between Lookout, Seekdroid and Phone Locator.
I run Lookout as it does a pretty good job of anti-malware, keeps a running backup online so you can restore from a specified date, live tracks your device, "screams" the device to help you find it, and gives you the ability to remotely wipe it from their site.

Seekdroid. Already used it to find my phone twice. Works flawlessly and very accurate.
Seekdroid
Seekdroid has worked for me before
Don't just look in your device threads for what would be a universal android app. You will have better results and more options. I can't give thoughts on any of them though as I don't use them, never lost a $600 dollar anything.

I don't know what's better the name or the app itself. That is a great idea from Lookout.
We do not which one is better for android has huge various devices.
And no app can cover all of them.
We have try this app with Galaxy S3/S4/Nexus 5, maybe you can download and have a try...

Disabling Market Recommendations

Hello all,
I keep getting a notification from the market about a recommended app called POPS.
I don't want it and can't for the life of me figure out how to disable market recommendations.
Any help?

Bump.
Anybody???

Market doesn't recommend apps on your notification shade? Possible virus or dodgy app
Sent from my HTC Desire S using xda premium
You're getting adverts in your notification bar? Sounds like you have Airpush on your phone. It gives devs the ability to send adverts and recommendations to your phone. Use this app to scan for Airpush and remove it...

Thanks for the reply...
It is in the notification area but I don't want it at all since I can't even get rid of the notification without tapping it and following it to the market...
(Edit: This was for dan-fish)

wnp_79,
Thanks for the reply, but I installed and ran what you suggested and it wasn't that. It didn't find anything...
Ok try this one...

Remember to rate affected apps with a single star and mark it as defective / malware to make sure the devs understand your opinion on that kind of ads...

I tried it and it did find one App that was using the push ads (Kona's Crate), so I removed it. But the recommendation is back now, so I guess it wasn't that.
Any other suggestions?
Next step would be to install Lookout Mobile Security. I use it, and the free version can scan your phone for all dodgy apps, malware, spyware etc. and will scan new downloads to stop it happening again. It also has tracking and wiping features should you loose your phone. Unlike certain antivirus apps though, it does not hog resources too much or drain your battery.
I have gone for the premium version, which adds real-time virus protection when using the stock web browser. The free version should serve your needs for now though. Put it on and run a scan. See what turns up.
The only downside to this app (and it's only a small niggle) is that after a new download from the market, the phone may lag a bit for a few seconds whilst Lookout scans it. That's it.

Which barcode/QR scanner app for GT-P3110 without autofocus camera?

Hello
What barcode / QR scanner app (without pic2shop Barcode & QR Scanner) will run on Samsung GT-P3110/4.1.1 tablet without autofocus camera?
I tried the 20 programs from Google Play. None scans. Is there any that work properly on this tablet?
Regards
That is hardware problem, forget abot it.

Try google glass

But e.g. pic2shop (Vision Smarts) works. It reads a little longer code but the product in the shop application or google is correct.

I heard of one person who bought a small plastic magnifying lens and placed it over the camera lens. By slowly moving the tab back and forth, it would focus enough to scan.
Clumsy, but apparently worked.

Security App

On my Jailbroken iPhone I was able to download an app that took a picture with the front camera and sent it to the email of my choice every time the wrong password was entered to unlock the phone, the photo came along with the GPS location of the phone and time.
Is there anything like this available for us

Cerberus is the most popular anti-theft app for android. It should have the feature you mentioned.
