Getting another SGS4G for free for my second line, and what I was wondering is just where to start. I had mine since launch basically, back when all you could do is root, and there were no ROMs at the time.
So, do I have to use superoneclick or just ODIN the proper GB rom and dr. honk's kernel to get root?
No need for SuperOneClick:

Just ODIN a GB ROM that has bootloaders (look in the Bible for KG4). Then I would upgrade to a newer GB ROM (I'm on KJ6) then throw drhonk's kernel on it (I'm using his KJ1).

I think the KG4 leak is the one that has the gb bootloaders... BUT! to be save, look for the GB Starter Pack thread made by FBis251 (or something very close) that has worked for me to upgrade from froyo to gb and many others. Hope I helped!

All of the leaks have GB bootloaders.
If you're just planning to have a 100% stock odexed ROM, then you should go for the newest KJ1 ROM.
If you're just asking this to see which GB ROM is the best, you should shoot yourself in the foot, cause you could probably find at least 3 recent threads on that topic.
I'm looking around in the forums and you're spending very little time in searching and trying to understand.
What is the most stabled gb odin I can flash and whats the most stabled froyo I can flashhh...

There simply IS no best.
But personally I flashed KG4
Then flashed the newest version of Valhalla, and I've found it SUPER SEXY and FAST 0.0
And yes, Stable. I havent had any FCs or Crashes at all yet...

I followed the process to ODIN KG4
then used recovery mode to flash Valhalla (Via Zip) from SD card
You have to read the GB Starter Pack and begin there in order to get the proper bootloaders for GB. Then you can simply flash Valhalla.

Is there any other ways to root my phone besides the "One-Click-Root" I think it takes to long and I want to root my phone fast. Does z4root still work on.this phone or will it just brick my phone?
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
I think z4 works on froyo.....not gb. Just Odin flash one of honks kernels for root and cwm...see dev section.

Read relative links on the Bible link at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1117554 , especially those relating to using Odin to flash for the first time.
Odin is at http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=557757&d=1301649433
GB rooted kernels are at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1194032, but you need to flash GB bootloaders through Chadsters KG4 at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1183413 prior to flashing a GB kernel if you are still on Froyo.
You can also just follow FBis251's guide for getting on GB at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1223765
Froyo kernal ( Bali3.3UV ) is at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1080871
Download and open Odin, pull battery from sgs4g, connect USB, hold both up/down vol buttons while reinserting battery....phone should be in download mode and show up in ODIN. Follow OP instructions for whatever Rom / Kernel you are flashing for which files to place where....don't change any options in Odin...just put the files in correct location and hit start. If you are on Froyo, then maybe start with Bali3.3 to get acquainted with Odin and the SGS4G
If you are not 100% on the process after reading the guides then I would advise to hold off and post your remaining questions on this thread to get the answers you need to be 100%. The whole process is very straight forward once you have done it a few times, but doing it incorrectly can cause problems.
Oh, and never, ever, ever use Rom Manager.

Odin flash a kernel. flashing a modem doesn't gain root. I'm sure that's what you meant though

Hello, yesterday I did http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1358498 and got success result. I have one more question about that..
after this my phone changed gb kj6 and I want to flash rom so I think need to odin. my question is...which tar file should I use for odin..?
I'm not sure what you're asking. Bhundven's one-clicks updated your phone to the KJ6 ROM. What else are you wanting to accomplish?

Also I wonder which one click you flashed? Stock, kj1 kernel, or beta 2d kernel?
If you figured out heimdall stay away from Odin. These two programs do essentially the same thing with different drivers that disagree with each other. In my opinion heimdall it's the better choice.

I would upgrade via kies to gb, then use the heimdall one click for antonx's kernel.
Im not sure if the sgs kernel flasher will work with froyo but if it does you need to make sure you are using a froyo kernel and not a gingerbread.

You can't use kies to upgrade to GB on rooted Froyo. Use the guide in the second link of my signature to upgrade to GB. Then look at the guide in the first link of my signature to root and use SGS Kernel Flasher.
