I dont know why I am not allowed to post on Developer form..
any ways My Question
I rooted my Galaxy S2 with the Kernel for KF7 kernel number provided on XDA developers
After that i got Root Access
I installed CWM and was able to run it properly, then i downloaded Cyanogen MOD 7.1 and in CWM i ran the command Install Rom from SD car and selected the Cyanogen*.zip file
After that my Device started in CW Recovery 4.0.1.5 but was not able to install Cyanogen due to some signature issues, i searched and then finally i read somewhere that i need to flash Kernel with Clockword Mod Recovery 5.0.2.3 TAR file thru odin. and I did it
So i was able to install Cyanogen Mod thru Recovery 5.0.2.3 without any problem
But now whenever i Go to Download mode from Power off i.e Vol Up + Home + Power i land into CWM Recovery 5.0.2.3 (Blue color)
and when i choose reebot into recovery from Clockwork MOd i land into CWM 4.0.1.5 (Orange Color)
Is It normal?? or is there any problem?
?? anyone there
Looks like i have t post in developer thread
but fore that i need 10 Posts

Hi everyone, im not sure if this is the right place to post this but here goes,
I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 (GT-i9100) (UK) rooted and i have been trying to install Cognition v1.07
I have downloaded the .zip and placed it in the root of my SD, i have also done clockworkmod recovery via rom manager but when i try and boot into clockwork recovery it wont do it, all i get is the android system recovery (blue writing) which gives me options to reboot system now, apply update from sdcard, wipe data/factory reset & wipe cache partition.
I get to that if i boot with Volume Up + Home + Power, if i do Volume Down + Home + Power it brings me to Downloading mode.
I have also tryed booting recovery via rom manager and it brings me to the same android system recovery.
Can anyone help me sort this problem out as i have been at this for 3 days now and i just cant seem to get my head around it lol...
Thanks.
no one on this forum has a clue about my problem?
plenty of views and a full page of questions asked since i posted this and they all got replies, am i doing something wrong on this forum, are there super special rules i should be following??
It been a long time, but if somehow you're still stuck with the same problem, this helped me on my S2
Initially I flashed cwm recovery using odin, then rooted using superOneClick. But opening recovery (volUp + home + power) kept sending me to Android System Recovery <3e>. So i flashed cwm recovery again using odin, and this time it worked. I guess you need to be rooted before trying to flash cwm.. or maybe its just some coincidence :/
Hope this can help someone
I have a commtiva z71 variant- Videocon V7500 Evolve.
When I boot it in recovery it's stuck at the boot screen.
It's booting properly and is rooted to cm 7.1 (2.3.7).
I flashed cwm lot of times but no luck.:crying:
I am a new to android.
Please help!!!
So you can boot your phone normally, but you can't boot on recovery...hm and you said that you "flashed" CWM many times? Well then I'm going to give you an alternative way to install CWM recovery. So
1. Go in bootloop. Well I guess you know how but I will describe the way just in case. Bootloop is when the phone is on the loading screen with the hourglass. And to enter in bootloop usually (On my phone atleast) I have to hold down the "volume down" and the "End call button" Red one, and press the power up.
2. Connect your phone with your pc via usb.
3. Download the attached file below.
4. Extract the file you downloaded and navigate from pc in the "fastboot" folder. Double click the "install-recovery-windows.bat" file.
After doing these steps you should have CWM 5.0.2.7 ready to boot.

It's probably a bad flash, he needs to wipe/factory reset and then flash a rom again.

Earlier it was working properly but suddenly it stopped.
Sorry for late reply
I have another question that the link that you gave me is of cwm 5.0.2.7 but my phone supports cwm 2.5.1.3.
Hope to look for a positive reply.
Thanks again

What do you mean by "supports" ?
Which version of recovery you should install on your phone just has to do with what Rom you want to install, or to be more accurate which version of android your ROM has.
So you should install your recovery mode depending on what you want.
1. AmonRA Recovery 1.6.2 - Link (for android 2.1)
2. V1.8.1.4 recovery - Link (For Android 2.2)
4. Recovery CMW Ascend - Link (For android 2.3+ )
5. Recovery 4.0.1.5 - Link (2.2-2.3+)
6. Recovery 5.0.2.3 - Link And instalation Link (for android 2.3+)
7. Recovery 5.0.2.6 - Link (For android 2.3+)
8. Recovery 5.0.2.7 - Link (For android 2.3+)
The example above is taken from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1608000 In the second post.
So to be quick, there is no restriction on your recovery you can use whichever you need to.

Hi,
I am trying to flash my LG P500 to Cyanogen Mod 9 and the manual I found stated, that I should partition my SD card using Clockwork mod.
So I found ROM Recovery app in Google Play and installed it. Afterwords I downloaded Clockwork Flash using ROM Mangager app and everything seems OK.
But when I try to boot to clockwork mod, my phone is always being flashed into factory default.
I power off the phone, press vol down, home and power on buttons - the phone starts up, an animation of white box and android logo beside shows (with a progressbar at the bottom) - I think this is because of installed clockwork - then I release those 3 buttons I was holding, but the phone simply resets itself into factory default.
I also tried to hold those buttons all the way, until some "DOS-like" screen shows up, but the phone keeps rebooting itself.
The next thing I tried was to boot into recovery using ROM manager app, but it also did not work - I don't know, if it should boot into recovery by itself or I should press those 3buttons (vol down, home, power on/off)
Could you help me, what am I doing wrong?
thanks
It sounds like your phone is not rooted. Follow the sticky topics in this section for how to root your phone. Start with this one:

Once you have root, install clockworkmod again. Then, you'll have success.

no, my phone is already rooted
That's the stock recovery, that means ClockworkMod Recovery did not flash properly. See if you granted SuperUser rights to ROM manager, and check the SuperUser app if you had mistakenly checked 'Remember Choice'.

Dont use Rom Manager.
You dont have recovery installed.
Find some other way to flash recovery.. there are many in this forum.
I suggest you use Rom Manager to download CWM and then boot into cwm .
I suggest http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1827723
This is safe for installing custom recovery.
Thanks to Shinobisoft.
Use AmonRA recovery. Works flawlessly for all roms in this forum.

Hello XDA !!
I have a question. here is the story.
I am using C1605 with ICS stock ROM 4.0.4 (11.1.A.0.68)
I am looking CWM for that ROM. But only found the CWM for stock ROM 4.1.1 JB (version nanhu_ds), not for ICS.
1st Test (FAILED):
I tried to install CWM for stock JB using fastboot mode, successfully installed, and bootloop :silly:
2nd Test (FAILED):
I tried to install CWM using RecoverX, failed at the install process
3th Test (FAILED):
i tried to flash CWM using Rom Toolbox, the same failure
4th Test (FINAL):
i tried to install CWM using SE Tweek Xtreme, and it worked
Once installed, i tried to booting into CWM (Power and then the volume down), but couldn't get into the CWM menu.
BUT:
I try to reboot into CWM via "reboot options" in my handheld, and successfully go to the CWM. and see that !! "CWM-based Recovery v6.0.2.8 (nanhu_ds)". --> CWM for JB .
QUESTIONS :
1. Why CWM for JB, can I install on ICS??
2. Why can only enter via "Reboot Option"? Why can't enter with manual booting (Power and volume down) ?
I want to know, and keep learning
Hi,
I'm trying to root and install CWM recovery on samsung i8558 Galaxy Win (China Mobile version).
I have at hand a set of stock firmware, a pre-rooted boot.img, and a cwm recovery image (6.0.3.7) built from cyanogenmod source only with recovery.fstab replaced with the one extracted from stock recovery.
Also I've tried ROM Manager, but it won't boot into recovery after claiming to have installed CWM.
I have successfully rooted the device using the prerooted boot.img.
The problem is that when I flash my custom cwm recovery onto the phone, it won't boot into recovery by normal means (holding home, vol+, power). I can only enter recovery via 'adb reboot recovery'. Unfortunately it leaves me stuck in recovery mode, 'reboot system now' fails, 'adb reboot' fails, the only way out I've found is flashing stock recovery.
I guess my cwm image is not properly configured to suit my device. I have tried the Recovery Builder at builder.clockworkmod.com, but its output is totally out of function - black screen without anything.
Any clues?
Which CWM did you use?
I'm using i8552 with many custom Rom and finally a swipe cwm. Which cwm did you use to flash?
Also if you are on JB 4.2.2 will you send me a snap shot of your settings page, notification bar and About page?
Let's help each other here...
