Hey guys I have a rogers captivate and have had nothing but problems the last couple of days, mostly cuz im inexperienced with rooting.
Anyways, Im trying to root with this method
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=827544
but at step #10 when I close the terminal emulator it crashes (force closes) then doesnt let me open it again. After rebooting my phone I tried steps 8-10 again and the same thing keeps happening!
Anyone have any ideas why?
Try a different terminal emulator from the market. Some of them are better than others.
still doesnt work.. I tried better terminal emulator pro and terminal emulator.

I had the SDK installed and everything was peachy but then I did a clean install of my OS.
I have reinstalled the SDK, downloaded the java ADT program, installed it, updated it, pointed it to my SDK folder, etc...
I need to use adb through the emulator as I am locked out of my handset and trying to use it to uninstall an app. (Lock 2.0 was updated, starts by itself and just gets stuck in a random cycle that will never allow you to get to the home screen... as a matter of fact home doesn't even load.)
Back OT... when I click the emulator or adb I just get the black box that flashes a bunch of command line real quick. Nothing will actually launch or open.
If you guys have any step by steps, know what I am doing wrong, or know how to get this POS uninstalled from my phone another way, I would REALLY appreciate some help. Thanks.

I use terminal emulator also, it gets the job done.
Connectbot is the best terminal by a long shot.

Ok, i looked at the other threads on here and couldn't find any helpful info. i've looked at other forums on the web and couldn't find help there either.
so I've rooted my Huawei S7, installed Titanium Backup which installed Busybox. It looks like i was able to back up everything on the tablet with titanium. I then installed Android Terminal Emulator 1.0.4, developed by Jack Palevich. But when i launch the terminal emulator, I can not run any command. Every command that i enter gets a 'permission denied' response. i have no idea why this is. Anyone have any ideas?
EDIT: After some thought, when i am entering the commands, the keyboard is trying to autocomplete the commands and capitalizes the first letter of the command, so su is being entered as Su and ls is Ls. This seems like it could be the problem, perhaps? I tried turning off all the settings with the keyboard but the commands are stilling being autocompleted and autocapitalized. Any thoughts?
So, i was fooling around my tablet, then i thought : why not run a cmd on this thing and try to root..
Well, that sounds kinda stupid but i was wondering if it is possible to do that without a computer connection...
If there is some way to that or if it is impossible pase let me know.... :good:
Progress?
So, here i was playing with the terminal emulator then i tried to rub wireless adb from my rooted phone using ROM Toolbox here are my acomplishments..
So please some one help me and tel me something. –. –
All this was done from my non-rooted tablet.
most of the exploits (psneuter and zergrush) all involve jacking around with adbd and an on device terminal emulator wouldnt help cuz it doesnt utilize adbd.
Now what you can do is give off wireless adb (if supported on a stock rom which i doubt it) and use this client https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jaja.remoteadb
to connect to your device with another device then shoot over psneuter and give it a whirl but like i said , wireless adb being supported by the rom is so unlikely and even if it was supported on stock it would at least be on jelly bean which i dont think is vulnerable to either exploit.
Have fun though
Hi guys, for some strange reason whenever I hit the enter button to go to the next line on terminal emulator nothing happens! I am using it on Android 7.1.2, before downloading on google play there was a message that said "this app might not be optimized for your device", could this be why its not working? is there another app similar to terminal emulator that works just as well as terminal emulator?
