I have been searching for an answer to this question and have not found one. I suppose I may be wording it incorrectly.
When I open the gmail app the first screen that comes up is the screen to choose my gmail account. I only have one gmail account so I do not want to have to pick it every time. Unless I am crazy, this just started a few days ago. Before this I was taken straight to my inbox.
I have looked through all of the settings and can't seem to find an option to skip this. Thanks in advance.

Hi all. I just migrated from my "old" HTC fuze and got on board the Android train with a Samsung Vibrant. It's fantasic out of the box, but I'm sure after a few more minutes on the forum I'll find something that needs fixing.
One thing that does need fixing is that when it syncs the contacts, it adds anybody I've emailed or responded to, outside of my contact list.
GMail doesn't add these people as contacts, but the droid does. Any fix for this short of going through my contacts every couple days and purging???
I hope this works for you, this is with my Droid Contacts.
Open Contacts -> Settings/More/Options button -> Display Options
There should be a "Choose contacts to display". Select your GMAIL account. Mine is currently set to "My Contacts" and everything else is unchecked. Also check the others listed. Gmail will store random outgoing/incoming emails, as All Contacts, where your contacts are "My Contacts"
Thanks for the tips. Unfortunately, all my contacts are google contacts, and nothing on the phone.
Is there any way to get gmail to not store all the various random emails and people I have contact with? I've dug through the settings and even tried to find something in the labs tab that might stop storage of ALL contacts, but couldn't find anything.

Click to collapse
Double check my attacked image, else only other thing i can think of is to remove and readd your google account to your phone.
Ahhh, there's the problem. When I chose Contacts > Display Options, I get a checkbox for my google accounts - there is no drill down for which accounts I can select. I'm on the Samsung Galaxy.
BTW, what screen cap app are you using?
Ok if you can't stop the phone from, getting them then you need to delete them in gmail.
Cause gmail does save everyone you have every replied, or sent email to. It's under other contacts.
just go in there and delete all the ones you don't wont
Hi, All
My XOOM is MZ601 with Andriod 3.1. I have used it for several days and everything looks well but email issue.
I have a gmail account and have almost 5000 email during 3 years. I setup my gmail account with XOOM gmail app and setup the duration as 999 days, sync all in lab. But I only can get 5 or 6 weeks email, and when new email comes, the oldest will be missed. When I scroll down to load more conversation, but nothing happened. I don't know how to setup the account and let me get all the email in my gmail account.
BTW, I found a strange thing, I can use search to find old email.
I do believe it's the limiation of the app due to the fact that you have way too much email subjects loaded into memory. That's why you have the search function and setting up labels and what not. It does the same thing with my Thuderbolt so yeah.
Thanks.
It's no good for the user. I can use iphone to see all the email, I can use palmpre to see all the mail but I can't use XOOM do the same thing. The Xoom is more better for biz.
Anybody know how to break the limited for the mail? Thanks.
Is this where I ask why my Google calendar won't sync to my 700t? I can't find a setting on the tablet marked for sync.
Under Settings>> Accounts & Sync, tap on your Google email address on the right. Then it will pop up all Google Services. Check whatever services you want to sync. It is a bit hidden.
Do I Have to do Image Verification?
All I want to do is reply to my own thread. Do I have to do image verification every time I want to post anything??

I think it's because you're new and don't have many posts. You won't have to do that later. Did my suggestion work?
Yes indeedy, your suggestion did work. How dumb of me to have overlooked the Accounts tab, especially since it's on my SG
2 phone. It does, however, keep slipping back off from the on position. Have to investigate that.
Sure hope you're right about that "being new" part: man, that stuff is hard to decipher!
I've found a workaround, on another forum, for adding a second Gmail account on the Note 10.1.
Originally, I could find no way to add a second account - something that's easy on my Galaxy S3. On the Note, there's no 'add account' button. The answer is to load YouTube, sign out if necessary, then sign in with the second account details. Full sync is set up, as with the mail app. Returning to Gmail, you'll see the second account listed in the top left corner.
It takes a while to get fully synced, but it does get there.
Apologies if everyone knows this, but I thought I'd share.

Strange, my company uses google enterprise for mail and my tablet fetches from it and my personal google account. I don't recall having to jump through any hoops to get it working. I don't have my tablet in front of me at the moment though.
----------------------UPDATE---------------------
I checked it out and the 'add account' button is immediately below the list of accounts.
Sent from my Vivid 4G using xda app-developers app

My 8013 has a add account button in settings!!
Hey everyone, I need some help. Since the Gmail app updated to the "Material Design" look, I've had an annoyance when trying to switch between my email accounts. In order to quickly switch, you can tap on the icon for the email address you wish to switch to. The problem is, two of my accounts are using the default Gmail silhouette, so I can't tell which one is which from the menu:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwgHw8RSjQikR0pfYWUyWXhxeFE/view
For all three of my accounts, I have uploaded a profile picture via the general tab in Gmail settings in the browser. My personal Gmail shows my picture, no problem, but for some reason the other two don't come through. I'm not sure if it matters, but both are Google Apps for Work accounts . Anyone know how I can fix this?
Thanks,
shingy
Bump. 73 views and no one has any ideas how I might be able to fix this? Anything thoughts would be much appreciated.
