When I try to change or add a contact it comes up with 'error, unable to save contact changes'. Everytime, even with a different contacts app.
I'm running the UCKJ4 leaked rom. Any suggestions please!

How do you guys backup your device before flashing a new ROM? With so many leaks and mods, one might be tempted to update as much as twice a week. I love flashing roms, it's really fun when everything works or when you think your phone is bricked but you can get to Download Mode so it's alright.. I think it's the adrenaline of having a $500 paperweight haha.
Anyway, the point is, restoring backups for me is a pain. Not so much for apps, because I use TB for that. But the contacts... oh boy.
I use gmail to manage my contacts, so I'll never lose a phone number. But I like syncing my contacts with Facebook and twitter. Then I have to spend like 3 hours or so merging contacts. And froyo was kinda good at merging contacts, like, recognizing Facebook and twitter contacts already on your phone, but GB is not. So I have to literally join over 300 contacts with their Facebook and/or twitter accounts.. and mostly because I like my contacts with pictures. And other apps take advantage of this (like whatsapp).
Right now I use stock KG6 w/ drhonk kg4 kernel and kh2 modem. I'm tempted to upgrade to kh2 but.. I don't want to merge my contacts again.. arrggg.. and in a few days a new leak or, worse, official GB is released haha, then it's restore time all over again.
So, my question is.. how do you guys manage contacts restore? I mean, merging contacts with their Facebook/twitter accounts? I bet I'm not the only one who thinks twice before flashing a new ROM because of this!
I believe advance restoring data will also restore your contacts with pictures and everything. I've done that plenty of times on Froyo without a problem.
Of course, with GB, you must do an advanced data restore by using a GB backup.
I must admit though, it's very annoying to re-sync contacts again. It sucks more that some of my friends have different names on facebook! >:O

Hey, I'm new to this flashing custom ROMs to my Droid Charge, don't know much but i did successfully install gingerbread 2.3.4 EP1W on my device and then installed the "gummycharged 2.0 initial" so snappy and i love it but i can't figure out how to sync my Facebook friends to my contacts. When i press get friends and press add i get the android.process.acore force close message and it only syncs 2 or 3 contacts. How can i fix this did i do something wrong in the installation of the gummycharged rom? Also are their any better ROMs anyone would recommend, sorry i feel stupid but I'm really new to this, i mean i tried for hours to try and get backup assistant back on my phone with gummycharged and couldnt figure it out. But my main concern is the "Get Friends" crash. Please, help would be appreciated.

could be a problem with the app, are you using the actual FB app? I know some settings stuff like that force closes on Gummy, if you could logcat it and post someone could figure out which... as for the contacts its best if you sync them with your google account or export a contacts list to your sd card from the option in the phonebook, both will save numbers, emails, contact pics etc
and I personally prefer Friendcaster for FB, much better than the problem-ridden official app

This 'android.process.acore' error is killing me. It is not allowing me to create a new contact. Can I completely wipe JUST the contacts app without resetting the entire phone? I have searched all over internet to find a way to send my SIM/SD Card contacts to gmail but nothing worked for me. Can anyone tell me?
I can send all SIM contacts to SD card but not from SIM/SD card to gmail even if the sync is ON. I would appreciate if someone could post a solution for this error...

Remove google+
Install Go Contacts, and export all your contacts so they are safe before trying anything that could potentially wipe off your contacts.

Still not fixed
I imported the vcard file from SD card to gmail. So, from now on, the contacts in gmail will be the same as on my Infuse which is good...But this 'android.process.acore' is still irritating me. It doesnt allow me to access few setting in contacts app. It doesnt allow me to add new contacts.
Note: I DO NOT have facebook sync. I DO NOT have MIUI. All Contacts have name fields filled. So, erratic contacts. I checked if something is wrong by connecting USB to pc but everything seems fine...
Please tell me if there is a fix to this error !!

Have you tried this.....
Go into contacts, menu, more, settings, top where it says save contacts to, open it and select phone and see if that works

Unfortunately it is not completely fixed... I still get the error when I try to add a new contact... I cannot also access contact settings .... Syncing is working fine with gmail contacts..

I didnt even think about this until after I flashed it but now I am trying to save some time getting my contacts back.
I typically use the att contact address book to sync my contacts, well this rom is a rogers based rom and doesnt have this option.
Do you guys know if there is any alternate methods to pull those att contacts and load them onto this rom?
Without flashing back to an att rom, then backing them up, and then reflashing infused?

go to att.com/addressbook (i think....it might be .net) from there you can dl your list as a csv spreadsheer. Then either import that list into google or outlook and sync that account for contacts.
Do you know where i would navigate to to be able to download the list? I couldnt find it.

whenever I go to messaging and start a new message, I start to type in a name , but for some reason, even though I have said contact in my contacts as a Google Contact, it won't show up.
I have to goto contacts, click on said person's name and then click message. Kind of annoying... How do I fix this. I am using the newest GInfuse ROM.
Have you tried other ROMS? never had that problem :S probably could fix trying a new modded rom, go check out dev section theres a rom galore atm lol you can find like 20 new rom/ports.
I recommend you MaxQ rom or GingerReal but every rom there its NICEEE you can try any you like
