[APP] Google Mail 2.3.2

Hi,
attached is the new version of gmail.
with friendly greet
starbase64
i have rooted Desire with AuraxTsense rom ... g mail is "locked" to the rom so i can't uninstall it or update...
is possible to have a renamed .apk (just like for googl maps "brut modded") so i can install both and then use the updated one? or where i can found it? tnx
I have this on my Vibrant but it still doesn't have the priority inbox feature.
I managed to find the apk on one of the Samsung forums shortly after its announcement - using a MIUI build on my HD2, and it didn't like pasting the new Gmail over the old one in /system/app/, nor removing the old one and pasting the new one - it was still showing the previous version without the priority inbox and so forth. To fix this, I had to restore the original Gmail apk that I'd backed up, then clear data from the settings/applications menu, then paste the new apk, then install over it from the market.
Native Android users will need to be rooted to do this, if it wasn't obvious.

You should be able to remove the original with Titanium Backup, then you should be good to go.
You people do know that this is available from the Market, and will update the version in your phone's /system folder just fine.
Right?

Apparently they don't... I updated it yesterday here from the market, although I don't use the GMail app at all...
The update is not yet available to everyone. TBH I cannot see most of the Google apps in the market myself.
This is just an opportunity for those less fortunate to mess around with it.

This won't work on 2.1 right?

[Q] Clean ROM 2.6 SE HTC Stocks App

I love this ROM. I wanted to get back the HTC Stocks app on this ROM. Does anyone have the apk? If i just install the apk will it work?
Thanks.
Pratik
I have been able to find these three files from Scotts 1.85 Stock ROM. These apks failed to install. Should I just place them in the /Systems/App folder to install?
EDIT: Looks like that worked. The app didnt show up in the app drawer, but I was able to add a shortcut using ES Explorer's App Manager.

Calander app

I messed with my calendar app perhaps, using root uninstaller. Any way, it won't open; saying stopping unexpectedly.
1. any help?
thanks.
Hi
You have 3 options
-restore from a backup that you have
-extrat the apk and odex file from a rom and move them to the /system/app
-use another calendar app, like business calendar

1. Hi, can you point to a downlad site for these?
2. a simple calendar that synchs with google.
If you want the stock calendar app use this link that i have extracted from my rom
http://db.tt/b3MbJFx2
Extract the files and move them to system/app and reboot your phone, the app should work, if doesnt work go to play store and search to business calendar, its simples and you can acess the google calendar and facebook events
I think this would help

Is there a way to install a system app like messaging or contacts app from stock htc explorer rom to cyanamod 7 or 9????I love the stock messaging app while cyanamod messaging app sucks.one thing more when I copy a system app from stock rom using root explorer to sd-card and then try to install it on cyanamod 7 or 9 the app doesn't install and at the end it says 'application not installed' which other user apps do install....

It might not be possible. HTC apps require HTC framework. Its only present in HTC roms, so i dont think u can have it in CM.

Well,
are you sure about this? It would be quite a dissapointment for me
Stock ROM for Explorer is Gingerbread. CM9 is Ice Cream Sandwich.
It won't work with CM7 anyway, it needs com.htc.resources to work.
If you hate the Messaging app that much, try picking up an alternate messaging app from Play.
Well its not just the messaging app but many others as well.seems like I have to stick to the stock rom

Tell me which apps you don't like and your CM version. I'll find some alternative apps for you.

Messaging: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jb.gosms or if it's incompatible https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.handcent.nextsms

A dialer+contacts replacement: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.modoohut.dialer with ICS theme https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.modoohut.dialer.theme.ics.black
If those don't satisfy you try Evervolv AOSP ICS ROM or wait for Sense 4.0a coming for CyanogenMod 9.

I have used both messaging apps and both are really buggy.when I send nearly 60-70 messaging in a time interval of 5 minutes the app says 'a lot of messages are sent so do you want to send messages' (a message like this) and I have to press ok for each message being sent and if you don"t message won't be sent.this is a bud .moreover while message is being sent and if you go through your conversation then at the instant at which message is sent the conversation drops to last message and you have to scroll back. These are serious bugs for me and I have used these apps .with stock app no such bug ,I have observed this million times

Thanks man! I was searching for a good messaging app. :good:
Apps from GB may / may not work with ICS.
The apps that you extract from system are not installable ones.
If you want to try xyz.apk, copy and make a backup of one you are going to replace. Remove current xyz.apk from /system/app and replace it with the one you have taken from stock or any rom.
Remember to set the permission as "
x x
x
x "
Restart your phone.. if it has to work it will appear in your app drawer.
Use root explorer.. mount R/W to copy and paste. Many apps require lib files too.. so you need to know which app requires which library file. If you replace an apk.. you will have to replace related lib files too!!

Gallery App freeze

I'm currently experiencing my default gallery app freezing my entire phone after I open it. I'm not sure whats wrong but thiso nly occurs after I debloat my S2 Plus with titanium backup after root. I'm using the latest Stock Samsung ROM firmware: I9105PXXUBNG1, released on the 1st of July. (Android 4.2.2).
Does anyone know any of the stock apps that are needed for gallery to work peroperly?
Any help appreciated!
i don't know if "Gallery" depends on other apps or not... i think it doesn't!
so i suggest using another gallery app, the original gallery is soooo slow and now you have a chance to try another one!
or you can try replacing gallery.apk in /system/app/ with an original gallery.apk
