looking for stock ec05 - Epic 4G Android Development

im looking for a stock ec05 kernel. because i have to bring it down to the sprint store for some work on it.

Do the ReRFS rom and then flash it's optional stock recovery. Truly the easiest way back to stock. Very hard to detect that you were ever rooted. I used it once when my phone was being serviced and was never asked about it.

Just next time ask in Q&A. This is development.

http://k0nane.info/rom/SPH-D700-EC05-8gb-REL.tar
That's about as stock as you can get. I'm pretty sure if you Odin that tar you could get OTA updates (yeah, like that's going to happen...).

ota on root

My thunderbolt is rooted. I am not running an special roms. I quess you could said I run a stock root. My thunderbolt just told me there is a update available. If I take it will I loose root access. It is the update for the constant rebooting.
The update for rooted phones is out. I believe it is on XDA.
If you have rooted and titanium backup you can freeze the update 2.300.... progaram and your phone won't check for updates anymore and you can save a bit of memory and maybe even some battery life in the process. If your like me you check the forums for updates on a regular basis, or better yet your rooted with a custom Rom and don't worry about Verizon updates.

That will give you basically a stock ROM without the bloat crap.
Thank you
I really do appreciate your help. One last question. Is that rom the closest I can get to stock? Also I am sorry for asking questions in the wrong place. I should have ask this in the Q&A section. It wont happen again.

Android 2.3 Now Available :)

Android 2.3 Software Number EH17 From USCC... Its posted on their site
uscellular.com/androidupgrades
Not working for some reason.....
I have tried to update...but Kies mini is telling me I have the latest version lol
You can take it to a store tech center and have them reflash your phone with it if mini kies isn't working.
Mini kies has been a flaming hot mess more often than not with these updates, so a full reflash at the store is probably not a bad idea anyway.
Strange....Its been taken down!
The update for Samsung MESMERIZE Android 2.3 Software Number EH17 From USCC HAS BEEN REMOVED!
What happened....? lol

i am not sure whats going on guys but the Mez is dead on XDA,
all support, modding, and firmwares, both the new EH09 and old stuff is over at rootzwiki.
i dont like it, i much prefer XDA but there was already this morning a rooted stock EH09 plus the full stock EH09
both for odin.
already flashed the stock unrooted and and booting into the stock rooted now.
sorry guys but rootzwiki has got a huge jump on this.
not even our own dev section here has anything new about EH09, and hasnt had any firmware/rom updates in weeks...

Bottom line: Our developers and users have moved to Rootzwiki. Its still the same users and developers that were once here; same usernames and everything. Everyone's there. Just a new location (and new management).
Whats done is done; the mass exodus has occurred and it can't be changed. So lets quit talking about it. Get on the Rootzwiki boat or stay in ghost town. Your choice.

Just upgraded without kies.
No kies on my Samsung N150 Plus netbook, just installed USCC_I500_EH09_SimpleDL from the US Cellular android upgrade section. Followed instructions (except for battery life, performed this with 81%) phone rebooted, all apps intact including acircuitboard live wallpaper, root apps, contacts, calender, etc...., EXCEPT ROOT ACCESS! Super User gone baby, verified with root check app. guess I'll give GingerBreak a try this weekend, heck I may even try SuperOneClick again to see what happens. Here's a trick for you warranty voider freaker outers, if you brick it, just tell your provider you lost the phone and pay the $50 or whatever dollar insurance claim and get a new GXS.
Obviously no root access, it's a stock official rom.

[Q] Help with Gingerbread installation...

Okay I literally just got this phone yesterday and I see all this talk about Gingerbread and how great it is so I decided I want to try it. I know next to nothing about all the technicalities about this phone so I youtube'd how to do it and found this video that I plan to use to help me in the process. - watch?v=YuURgkUYn1A
So if I follow that process and use the files he uses, I should have Gingerbread and still have my connection to AT&T, GPS, and WiFi? Also, when AT&T finally does release it officially, will I be able to just go to Software Update on the menu and get the official AT&T Firmware and not have to worry about all this technical stuff again?

Try THIS link out, its got pretty much everything you want to know to get started(including vids). The only things that don't work on GB currently HDMI and on some of the roms, bluetooth. If you want to get the official OTA when it drops you will have to go back to stock, easiest way is to use THIS method. Also when GB does drop, Devs most likely will make their own roms based on the official GB.
Once your rooted and have recovery installed use THIS thread to find the ROM you want...
This is just a rough overview, so make sure you READ carefully and take your time, any question you have is usually answered in the appropriate thread.
Here is a link to the latest AT&T Gingerbread leak. Use Odin to flash it, and if you stick with the included stock kernel, everything works as it should. It looks very close to being ready for release. If you want it rooted, flash Entropy's kernel and then use CWM recovery and the Superuser zip you can find on here to install su. Then, flash the stock kernel again to keep everything working (video, bluetooth, etc.).:

That's legit Dman, it seems you learn a new trick on a daily basis; ports, roms and now kernels. I'm loving how the infuse development is still kickin!
So back on topic lol. Xia, Dman's CatyRom is one of the most recent GB roms (and plenty more), it's based off of the leaks from At&t. Once your ready, look into that!
Edit: Nevermind my question, dman, thanks anyway for what you're doing.
To the OP, a good AOSP Gingerbread rom that I keep coming back to is Serendipity VII. I hope that MikeyMike will still come back to update that one when we get the official AT&T Gingerbread.

[Q] How to put latest version of android on SGS4G

Sorry about the numerous posts, I have now successfully rooted my phone (I know its not impressive...). Now I have a few questions:
1. How do I put the latest stock android on my SGS4G? Or the latest "good" version of android on my SGS4G?
2. Since the phone is default on tmobile, I was wondering, will I still be able to do wifi calls? What I mean by that is, when I got the phone, it had a wifi calling app that turned off cell phone connections whenever I had wifi.
3. Will I be able to tether without tmobile charging me for tethering? I do have a data plan.
4. I know rooting is basically like gaining administrator access, but what are the biggest advantages of rooting? Just a personal question to you guys.
5. Last, will I be able to restore my phone as if I had just bought it from tmobile, if I install the latest, or best android version onto it?
THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP GUYS. It really helps.
If you are on gingerbread 2.3.6 you have the latest stock rom.

Stock 2.3.6? You can either upgrade via Samsung's official Kies Mini software or you can grab RaverX3X's ROM-ODIN-2.3.6-Gingerbread Offical. It's based on the Kies files downloaded from Samsung just repackaged for ODIN for people having issues using Kies.
Reread above.
Edit: Stephen beat me to it. I put a CWM flashable stock link above. He posted the odin version. If you become familiar with flashing in CWM you can flash any rom... at least that has been my experience so far.

Basically this is what happened:
1. I succesfully rooted my phone using superoneclick
2. I was going through the tutorial found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16600185
But then Stephen mentioned that I could just using kies through samsung.
3. I tried Kies, but it didn't work
4. I talked to samsung representatives for like an hour with no success
5. I tried to put stock gingerbread from RaverX3X.
6. I almost bricked my phone since it just nonstopped restarted while displaying a bunch of dots on the screen
7. I restored my phone to factory settings
Right now it says I have 2.3.4 (Gingerbread I believe), but I have no idea how... So what I'm looking to do is to put RaverX3X's official gingerbread on my phone. My phone is not rooted, and doesn't have anything on it I believe. No USB drivers either. Where should I start?
And again thank you guys for sticking with me and helping me, I am so confused so if you can just either give me step-by-step instructions, or link me to a topic that has them. THANK YOU

[Q] Unroot, Carrier patches, etc

I couldn't find anything based on an Unroot thread, as well as some generalized questions.
SOMETIMES, phone devs, and the carriers, put out patches that actually correct some ugly known issues. Correct me if i'm wrong, but if i root, i'm led to believe i can not download carrier patches and updates.
My concern is If I root and there's by chance some JESUS patch that is issued that corrects reception issues, power cycle, etc. Is there a way to unroot the device.
First post by the way, go easy.
Edit: OH also, I forgot to mention, from what im reading around 2.3.6 seems to be the current version out for at&t however i'm only on 2.3.5 i've tried pushing the update by checking through settings>updates. It's telling me however that there aren't any available? Or did they pull the update for some reason?
