When I click on the Need For Speed Shift .apk file to install it I get an error: There is a problem parsing the package. It will not install. I'm not sure what I may be doing wrong.
Eddie

I was wondering if anyone else was having issues flashing krylon's deodexed version of SW.
- I checked and have root and when I run CWM it says v3.0.2.8.
- It says Installation aborted.
I did chang out my FOTA files to free up space.
I'm having the same issue, I've installed everything correctly: beta 3, copied over recovery. Get into cwm fine with no issues. But everytime I flash this rom it says installation aborted.

Pixelbrain provided the answer in the development forums:
You have to unzip the file, open the folder, select all files, and zip everything in that folder.
The problem is that everything is inside that folder, which is then zipped.
The files need to be zipped directly, not inside a folder.
Thanks man times like these are when I wish my windows machine still works. Not trying to be a noob or anything. How can you zip a file on osx, unrarx doesn't provide that ability. At least not that I know of.

Are you doing this on Froyo or GB? This only works on Froyo. Maybe try re-downloading the recovery & zip file to insure you didn't get bad downloads.
I'm on froyo and I downloaded from my phones browser if that makes a difference, and thanks for the help boss

It shouldn't make a difference how you downloaded the zip as long as you followed the instructions on the thread. Make sure you don't try to extract the zip file. try re-downloading them & try again.
are you changing the permissions of the directory from read only (R/O) to read/write (R/W) in root explorer before you try pasting the files?
Yup I used root explorer to push the files and it prompted me to switch to r/w when I tried to push the recovery. I'll try the process from the beginning and report back

Try redownloading it. The file may have corrupted as it was downloaded.

This maybe is because the file that you wanna download in your mobile cant recognized. Ej: a zip if you dont have a programm to extract or open cause invalid file.

Using both latest TWRP and CWM flash failed trying to install ParanoidAndroid 3.57. status 7. Anybody else have this problem on Rogers Skyrocket i727r?
Do you know what status 7 means?

I think it is an error message for some kind of file error. very nonspecific. I downloaded the zip file twice, once through internet explorer and once through firefox in case ie was the problem. Also when TWRP wouldn't work I tried CWM. Same error.

Make sure the file you're downloading is meant for the SkyRocket. Status 7 usually means that you're trying to flash a ROM from another phone.
Brought to you by time and relative dimensions in space.

The zip file I downloaded was found in this forum under 4.2.x Paranoid Android by Toyes. The file is: pa_skyrocket-3.57-10JUN2013-131650.zip
So I don't think it is the wrong file.

I haven't looked at the assert lines in the rom, but it's possible since you have the "r" version the rom isn't letting you flash it. If you're sure the rom is for your device you could delete the assert lines in the updater-script.

I'm not sure exactly why you are having this problem. I have the I727R as well and have no issues. The updater script does have assert lines for I727 and skyrocket. So if you are sure you have a skyrocket then you can just remove those lines and then it will flash.

I tried removing the assert line by deleting it in notepad after extracting the zip file. I then rezipped and put the zip file on my sd card. The installation aborted again. I tried the same thing with JellyBeer and it also aborted. (It also has assert line). Any suggestions?

You're doing it wrong. You can't use regular notepad and don't unzip it.

Thanks for the advice. I extracted the updater-script file to desktop, opened it in notepad++, removed the assert line, saved it back to desktop and added it back to zip file. Still doesn't work. Any suggestions?
btw, I tried editing it directly from zip file by drag and drop to notepad++ first, and that didn't work either. The error message in TWRP was:FAILED, can't open zip file.
