I have a Rooted G'zone Commando. Apparently I can't get Android 2.3 because when I rooted my phone I uninstalled a bunch of crapware and that appears to be the cause of errors (I have narrowed down anything else) Is there anyway that I can force the 2.3 update by somehow downloading it and flashing it the same way users of other phones flash custom roms to their phones?

I have a rooted and unlocked g1 and pac-man does not show up for me on android market but I did find the apk on the net. However when I actually start a game the screen is constantly flashing, just wondering if this is because I have a rooted/unlocked g1 or if anyone else has experienced similar issues? Cheers
I get the flashing in the game, but it shows up in the market were iI downloaded it. I think it's because it's still only 1.1 sdk, once they update it to 1.5 it should be OK!

that's all you .. i would question the apk you are using .. if it's not on the market then don't use it .. i've had no problems with pac-man since fw1.0 and have upgraded to fw1.1 and still no problems .. so going to fw1.5 should have no affect .. root access does not hinder apps unless you are using ADP version which has some missing components from RC33
It's becuase pacman isn't fully compatible with the 1.5 builds yet. It flickers and the colors are off a bit. And by the way, pacman isn't downloadable in the u.s. on rooted phones right now even though it's free. We have to use an .apk.
Im running haykuro 1.5 Hr3 and see pac man in the market. If i remember reading correctly the market doesnt block apps on previous firmware versions, it does however hide apps built on a higher version. So a app build on 1.1 firmware is visible to phones running 1.5 firmware. But apps built on the 1.5 firmware is hidden on phones running 1.1
I don't think it shows up for me as my G1 is unlocked.
If you are using ADP without market fix you will not see pac-man in market.
yeh i experience the same problem on my rooted haykuro hr3 ADP rom, it only flashes in game play and it is very slow.
roote us phones
Not so fast guys I have a rooted phone and am in the us and have been able to download pacman through all ports. That seems to be a problem with your market app. I'm running jf 1.5 and it showed up fine.
Hi, noob here
I initially unlocked and rooted my nexus one because i liked sense ui. Now that i hear android os 3 will have an OS that competes with iOS, i want to go back to a regular froyo os and wait.
I never did end up installing Sense UI for froyo 2.2 because i got lazy, but now I am stuck on froyo FRF50.
I've been trying to install the FRF91 update but it fails (verification failed). The process i am doing is going to Recovery, Wipe everything, Flash with update.zip FRF91. It fails.
What do I have to do to get this phone back to stock original, preferably stock frf91. Also I was getting OTA request to update but it would fail the same way, i donno i guess thats normal for a rooted phone?
help
So the purpose of this thread is to somehow update my 2.2.19 Droid 2 to 2.2.20.
The problem is as follows:
I rooted my phone and removed a lot of the crapware. But for a couple different reasons I want the 2.2.20 upgrade, though the phone works pretty well as is.
The OTA doesn't want to work. I've un-rooted and tried the OTA, fail. I went to my Titanium and tried to reinstall the deleted crapware and it only got through 4 of them. The other 10 won't reinstall, presumably the ones I need in order for the OTA to succeed.
I tried RSD Lite and it claimed "success" though I saw no real change after the reboot.
I don't know what to do at this point. If there's a way to even re-flash to a 100% stock version of Droid 2.2 with all the original programs and lose all my crap, I'll do it. I just don't know where to go and what to do.
I'm gonna pull my hair out!
i,
I'm new here, I hope I'm posting this in the right forum. My apologies if not.
I have a rooted Verizon Droid 4 running Gingerbread. I had busybox installed to root it, and I configured it using the Droid utility on OS X some months ago. I used Titanium Backup (with root) to freeze the bloatware.
Fast forward to a couple days ago, when Verizon pushed the ICS update to it's phones. I downloaded it and ran it, and it reported "update failed", then I smacked myself in the head and remembered that I didn't un-root the phone.
So I disabled root via busybox, and then retried the update. It downloaded and ran, and now it gets stuck at the Droid animation screen (the one after the "M" "Dual Core" screen).
I'm thinking it's because I did not unfreeze those apps through Titanium?
In any case, I've tried restoring it to Gingerbread (219) (VRZ_XT894_6.5.1-167_DR4-1_M1-219_1FF_01.xml), and it fails on step 6/18 (cdt.bin).
I understand that you can't flash back to Gingerbread from Ice Cream Sandwich, but I'm not sure if ICS ever went all the way through.
Right now I'm downloading the ICS fastboot files (I've been attempting all these restorations via RSD Lite on a mac pro with bootcamp, and a factory cable that I made from the instructions on here (what a pain in the ass that soldering was)).
Does anyone have any advice on what to do to return my phone to stock? I can't get it to do anything.
Many, many thanks in advance to anyone who might be able to help. I've been tearing my hair out over this for the last 3 days.
lol man thank god us Samsung people have Odin...
Is there a stock ICS image out yet?
Can you get into recovery or just bootloader?
I don't think this would have been hard to find if you had looked, but here's where you should be asking your questions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1503
Actually, you'll likely be able to find a thread detailing how to return to stock anyway. The problem is that, as you guessed, you didn't unfreeze those stock apps and processes before taking the update.
I hope you're able to restore to GB as ICS isn't perfect yet because of VZ's tweaking and I don't think it's worthwhile unless you're going to a custom Rom. At least now you know how to handle things in the future, though I wouldn't recommend taking updates until they've been out for a bit and problems have been dealt with.
So, I happen to have a bunch of old Huawei phones (Mercury and Ascend) and I want to use them for cameras for a security system. They are running Android 2.3.6, which we all know Google won't support and therefore it has become a major frustration to try and get any apps loaded on them. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to update them with a custom ROM that is Android 4.1 or newer where they can have the apps loaded? Or, if there is a way to get the apps loaded without an update to 4.1 or newer, I'm open to trying that as an option. It seems most of the custom ROM links don't work or were blocked by the a$$ 0's that want us all to pay for stuff that we already own.
