Hey Guys
For a little while now I have been having issues getting MP3s to be detected. It worked with the cyanogen mod rom but other roms (currently ThaiZO3D) only show MP3s on the internal SD. I can play them manually with a file manager and have tried a new sd card
any suggestions?
OK I fixed it:
Here is what I did.
1-Unmount the SD card
2-Clear the media storage data and music player data
3-remount sd card
VoilĂ all the music is found

Ok....regardless of how i get music onto my external sd something is removing it.
Any feedback would help.
Here are methods i have used:
1. transferred files via windows explorer from pc to external SD
2. imported files from pc to external SD via isyncr wifi
3. transferred files directly to ext sd via doubletwist
4. transferred files to internal SD via double-twist then moved them to external sd.
They are on the external sd after these processes but it seems like possibly something happening with the media scanner that is removing them because after plugging phone in via usb they will be gone?
Ok I've been having these problems transferring mp3's and mp4's to my external SD card but couldn't get any of them to play at all .. but if I transfer them to my phone SD card they will play with no problem. The videos would freeze and not play and the mp3 would say format not supported from the external SD card .. for some reason when I transfer the files from the computer directly to external SD card the are pasted in a different format
.. soo I just tranfered all files to SD on phone then copied files to external SD card using a file manager like astro and they worked and erased files from phone to save more space .. now I have all media on my 16 gig external SD card class 2 and everything works fine ... just wanted to share my experience maybe others were having the same problem ... .. and if anyone knows why they are copied to external SD in a different format????

Hey guys,I am running cmod12 on my Galaxy note n7000, but it stopped recognising my SD card for some reason. When I open apps that are linked to my SD card storage it says "please insert the SD card", I have about 40 songs on my SD card, but whether I open the app called music it doesn't show any of the songs, but their strangest thing is that when I open file manager it shows all the files on my SD card, any help?
I have a generic TV streaming box with Android 4.4.2. There is a SD card in the card slot. When I downloaded the songs and photos it goes to the internal memory so it filled up fast. How can I download the songs to the SD card and free up the space in the internal memory.
Any help will be appreciated
Thanks
It all depends on the app you are using to download the songs. Normally if you have a large SD card and crap for internal, you can format the SD card as Internal memory. You only do this after you reset your system otherwise you risk a crash and loss of apps (and much confusion). The other option, if you have a rooted device, is to symbolically link the Downloads (or whatever your media directory is) to a directory on the SD card. You will have to have BusyBox loaded and have a hard link from the music directory to the SD/MusicDirectory on your SD (rename it to whatever you want).
Use the "ln" command with the Linux shell. If that does not work then you should see about finding the right app to download your music. If you are using Chrome or Firefox (or some other browser) then you can have it ask you each time where you want the file to download into.
Otherwise, without more information on your drive sizes and the app(s) you are using I don't see how to help...
Thanks Skeltonh for your help.
You know the cellphone hand set is more controllable. Mine is the streaming TV box. It is much less control. Also the OS is Android 4.4.2 and it is not rooted. You can not move any App to the SD card and set it up as the internal memory. I think at lease Android 6 can do it. In this box - Setting - Storage - I only can see there is a SD card with 4 GB. I even can not see what files in this SD card. It seems that there is no way to read and write into this SD card.....
