[Q] clockwork? - Samsung Infuse 4G

I have looked all over the internet for a solution to this and couldnt find an answer so hopefully some one can help. I tried to flash clockwork recovery through Rom manager and it says it was successful but every time I reboot, it just goes into 3e. Thank you to anyone who can help

Sellect "Reinstall packages" option twice, that will get you to green CWM
Sent from my B.A. Infuse 4G

all I get is E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
installation aborted.

This worked for me
This happened to me when I was trying to copy the modified "recovery" file into my "/system/bin" directory. It looked like I r/w access tothe directory when I actually didn't....I used "System Manager" instead of "Root Explorer"...Copied the modified "recover" file to the "/system/bin directory.....then started the boot sequence over again.

You can use h8rift's with modded 3e Odin back to stock or flash community kernel.

I had the same problem. This worked for me too. Also you can factory restore. Wipe everything. Run Odin. Reroot. I usually just copy the modded 3e using root explorer cause ROM manager gave me issues.

HELP, unrooted my cap, with cognition rom flashed!

I unrooted my phone click "unroot" using original OCLF thinking i didn't need this app anymore being i rooted the phone using usb and one click root when i flashed the cognition rom. Now i actually unrooted the phone and i uninstalled the original oclf and the new version does not let you root. How do i reroot my device? When i follow steps to reroot it has a red screen when im in reboot menu, i believe it is voodoo lag fix gives me many option but i use the power button to select reboot phone since i do not know what to do. Please help thanks!!
hmmm. You can search for root options on 2.2. You xan asks back everything up and reflash the rom.

how do i reflash if i cant even root my phone tho? when i try to use one click root, the phone goes into boot menu but all letters are red, and talks about voodoo lag fix, i will try again and post all the options that the phone gives
Disable lagfix, select install zip from sd in recovery. You do not need root to flash a rom as long as you have clockwork recovery. The red recovery will work

Mounting to your pc had nothing to do with root

ok obviously i'm still kinda new to this, i somewhat understand what you mean, is there anyway you can give me better directions in steps? I know you are using your phone, thanks for the quick responses. how do you disable lag fix, and the rest of the steps?
Disable lagfix
Boot phone to on
Go to my files app
Look for voodoo folder
Inside voodoo folder create a new folder named disable-lagfix
Reboot, you will hear the voices.
flash rom
Make sure rom is on your sd
Long press power button
Select recovery
Once in recovery select install zip from sd
Then select choose zip or something like that
Find the cognition rom
Select
Select again
It is likely when the rom boots voodoo will still be disabled
To re enable go back to voodoo folder on sd, open, delete disable-lagfix folder, reboot. You will hear the voices

ok i used one click root to force root file that i renamed, it then rebooted phone to a red menu, "clockworkmod recovery v2.5.1.3 - voodoo lagfix" options are:
reboot system now
apply sdcard:update.zip
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
install zip from sd card
backup and restore
advanced
voodoo lagfix
go back...
Can i select install zip from sdcard from here, is that what you were meaning?
Also on a different note, i have the xda app how do you get notifications from my post?
The rom works fine, so do i need to flash it again, or is this the method i will need to flash all over again to be able to root?

Ok please make sure the program you used is for 2.2. If so click apply sd card update zip.
I do not receive notifications, when I am bored and watching tv I am pretty much always playing around. If I am helping someone I am mindful to keep an eye out.
Edit. I love swype but sometimes the words it puts in there are crazy

As long as the root method you used is for 2.2 you should not have to reflash

phone works fine and rom is working, I just want the phone to be rooted, how can i do that, maybe i got off subject or didn't mention that the rom works fine just won't let me root the phone.
Your said you did the One click root. Did the program specify for 2.2
Sent from my SGH-I897 using XDA App
the root method i download was from a thread with video and instructions on how to flash a rom from 2.1 to a custom froyo rom. so if i get this right, your saying i need a file that roots a 2.2 phone? so i need to find in xda one click root for 2.2 right?
Well thanks for being bored and being helpful.
yes swype does put in the weirdest words sometimes
any idea on a 2.2 rooting file? or search?
my biggest bugs with swype are with the words "want" always come up with wasnt. and a few others but "want" bugs me the most
http://www.multiupload.com/02RXSWORVC
Try this. I found it in a search. It should be a download of an update zip to root froyo.save to sd, select apply update.zip in recovery. Make sure file is named update.zip
Sent from my SGH-I897 using XDA App
ok, just want to get this right, copy file to internal sd, rename "update.zip" then reboot phone to menu right? holding volume buttons and power right? then select reinstall packages? or will it prompt me to select update.zip from sd card
ok , to your last post, how to get into recovery to select update.zip?

If you have clockworkmod, long press to bring up recovery reboot, select backup and restore, backup. Or dl rom manager premium and backup from there. Hope this helps!

No this don't help rather.
I have tried everything.
And I have also Titanium Backup, but ClockworkMod does a complete backup of a system so if you are a developer and backup everything when something goes wrong you have a backup

[Q] Still can't flash

O.k. so I've rooted , then downloaded the 3e recovery that bypasses the signature thingy (the one linked from gtg's post), opened it, put it in the system/bin, replacing the old one, made sure the files set to r/w, downloaded the latest rom from gtg, used clock work to reboot. It reboots, comes up to the new menu, and fails at the "install from package..."for "failed to verify whole-file signature. then under that it says "signature verification failed" tried the "reinstall packages" from the menu and get the same thing. anyone have any ideas?

Just curious if you ever tried doing this from the new clockwork menu you say you have.. Before you try to update package, or install zipfile delete/format the "Cache", Dalvik Cache and the "Data" from the Advanced menu then restart the phone into recovery mode and then try to install the new rom zipfile and so on.
Perhaps you are one of the unlucky ones who downloaded a damaged rom zipfile, you could re-download and try that too..
Stranger things then this happened to me many times.......
ok thanks for the advice, Ill try that

Make sure if u can download on wifi network any hiccups in dl can corrupt, if we don't get you going tonight I'll help u after work tmrw
ok, so I re-downloaded the clockwork, re dl the captivate is9000, re dl'ed the whole rom file, re dl'ed the 3e recovery. still the same result. when I open rom manager and select reboot in recovery, It reboots, and as the menu is coming up it fails without me pressing anything. So at the top, it has the blue letters that say "reboot" install package" and such, and below that in yellow letters it says" looking for package...found package....installing package...then failed in red letters with the signature verification failure notice. I made sure the recovery was in the system/bin and has permissions and is in r/w mode. also the rom is in internal sd not external. I give up! , the stock rom isnt that bad. thanks for the help though, if you think of any other ideas, lemme know. Jim

[Q] Couple of questions concerning CWM and Backups

So I've read on different ways to boot into CWM then flash to the Krylon fix, but the way I (have) to do it is completely different; First, hit ROM manager then boot into recovery. From there, I cannot click the update from zip option - I get an error and it fails - instead, I go to mounts and storage. Instead of the regular options, my only option is Mount USB Storage. I click that and after some script that I never read, my phone freezes. After the holding the power button to restart, it boots me into the CWM fix that I need to be in in order to flash my ROMs. - Why does it do this?
Also, every time I flash a different ROM, I use a nandroid backup. Recently I almost restored data on an old backup I had from a month ago. How do I delete the old backups that I don't need?

to delete old backup you need to do it manually from the computer when your phone is mounted its in the folder clockworkmod/backups. or delete it from a file manager while on your phone. and what krylon fix are you trying to flash ? are you on stock ?
its the CWM3XX.zip file that I need to get to before flashing ROMs. I can get to it fine, its just that I use a different method of getting there than instructed in the dev threads. I'm running your gingerclone rom. and thanks for the backup advice.

what is the Method your using ?
said method above - flash to cwm, go to mounts ->mount USB (this is my only option) -> frozen screen -> restart ->and when i restart it boots to the krylon fix
That CWMxxx.zip should be update.zip, just checking to make sure you did that. try my updater script, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15831175&postcount=124
it will add the modded recovery binary and push krylon's good update.zip, and reboot you into recovery.

[Q] Recovery Reboot problems

Hi, All,
Sorry if this has been answered before, I could not find it through search.
Whenever I reboot my Droid 2 Global, it goes straight into recovery (ClockWorkMod). I press the camera button and it reboots into the OS just fine. I tried uninstalling Clockwork, reinstalling ClockWork but that does not help.
Tried flashing but the regular firmware that I found did not work for my D2G phone.
Anyone has any clue on how to fix this?
Thanks,
shadov
Try actually removing CWM hijack files, and then reinstalling it.
Go to /system/bin, find logwrapper.bin; if it's there, delete logwrapper and rename logwrapper.bin to logwrapper. Check if the problem persists (I highly doubt it), then try reinstalling CWM.
Worked
That worked, thanks, man!
Are there any resources that explain how ClockworkMod (or any recovery hijacking) works? Wanted to understand better what actually happens on the system level.
Thanks
The false logwrapper CWM installs starts the CWM binary when there's a certain file present in a certain directory. If there's no such file, it just starts logwrapper.bin and startup continues as usual. That's about it.
I tried installing ginerbread update abd it fails. That's why I am trying to solve this problem in the first place.
When I tried installing the update today, it downloaded the update, rebooted and went into recovery partition and started extracting it (progress bar was moving for about 5 seconds), then I saw droid with exclamation point, phone rebooted again and said "Update failed"
Any tips?
Sent from my DROID2 GLOBAL using XDA App
I'm a bit tired of explaining this all over again.
Download the standalone update file from somewhere, or fetch it from your phone's /cache directory with Root Explorer once the download completes (do not confirm installation, just fetch the zip file). Place it into the root directory (/) of your SD card. Rename it to update.zip. Reboot into stock recovery. Choose install sdcard:update.zip. Check the error messages it displays.
For 99% of the cases the problem is CWM's logwrapper.
