[Q] Lockscreen Lag/Unresponsive - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
Got my Nexus S about a week ago and love it. I'm running Brainmaster's MIUI with Franco's Kernel.
The issue I'm having and have had since I was on stock kernel as well is that when I press the power button to go to the lockscreen if the phone was in standby sometimes the lockscreen responds straight away, sometimes it is unresponsive for a second and sometimes for several seconds. I've also had an issue once where a call came in and I couldn't answer, I had to turn the screen on and then off before I could answer the call. Btw I'm also running with min set to 400mhz.
Has anyone else had this issue or does anyone know if it is a known MIUI issue or if there's something I can do to make it work like normal?
Thanks.

[Q] Nexus S screen turns off during/after a call

Is there anyone else having the same issue as I have? My Nexus S screen would turn off during/after a call, sometimes it would turn on when i press the power button and sometimes it would not. I am on stock Android 2.3.4 baseband I9020AUCKD1 Kerne version 2.6.36.7-ge382d80 android-build2apa28 #1 Build number GRJ22. I just got the OTA update the other day. Is this some kind of bug that comes with the update? I hope someone could shed a light on this matter. BTW I am on At&t if that helps. Thanks in advance!
Have den same problem in my phone to
Android 2.3.4
i9023
The screen turn's off when i answer a phone call.
I think it turns off when your in a call so that you don't touch the screen, it can detect you proximity , try on the middle of a call take the phone from your ear the screen should turn on.

I have the same problem... sometimes the display stays black after the call is finished. Then I have to press the power-button.
Rom: MIUI-1.8.19
Kernel: Netachy-1.3.7
I don't have a solution for this problem, but it certainly annoys me too.
It seems that the screen lock timer is still running while the call is in progress. You can verify this by trying to hit the home screen in the middle of the call and seeing the lock screen come up.
I also have this problem and can be very annoying.
This also happens sometimes when I am watching flash video content. As soon as the video finishes the display turns off. The person who said something about the idle timer continuing to count idle time sounds plausible. As soon as the app that was preventing the sleep/lock ends it sleeps immediately.

I think its the in pocket detection... does anyone how to update my kernel from 2.6.35.7 to 2.6.36.7?im not sure how to do?
I think you should just wait, as its going to be March real soon and we should start to see updates for the Nexus S and 4g coming up. If you really can't wait, go ahead .

Are you rooted? Are you on a customer ROM?
If I'm not wrong, you can only update your unrooted stock ROM when you get an official update. (Somebody more experienced please confirm this)
However, once rooted and with a custom ICS ROM there is a whole list of Kernels that can be flashed and each one has the instructions on their respective pages.

you are correct
is that possible:
1. proximity sensor during the call in order to avoid your face accidentally touched the screen
2. over time to lockscreen , like 1 minute , but you spoke 2 minutes ... and then phone automatically screen off ?
I exprienced that sometime in stock GB ROM and custom GB ROM. I have yet to experience it in ICS so far. It could be that when you try to wake the screen up, the phone may actually try to wake up but at that time your phone call may take higher priority -- cpu wise, so it is busy processing your phone call instead. I'm thinking Windows processing priority and I'm a noob.. Or the proximity sensor processing got stuck.
This does actually happen sometimes on my 2.3.6 stock ROM (i9023). Never had problems with turning the screen back on afterwards, though.

Green Screen/Artifacts - Hardware or Software problem?

Hello everyone,
I've been having quite an interesting issue on my NS4G. I'm currently running the latest available CM7 nightlies/gapps, as well with Pete Alfonso's kernel. The underlying system in the phone (radio/etc) is all running the current latest available from Sprint as well.
Now the issue in question, I've been having an issue that seems to be occurring more and more frequently on my phone. Now because I am already running a custom ROM and not just stock, this makes me unsure if the issue is coming from the software, or if there is an actual hardware issue with my phone.
Occasionally (I would say as infrequently as once every 2 days or so) when I unlock my phone with the power button, for a split second after the CRT animation I see my phones screen as all green (with a hint of purple), almost the color you associate artifacting with. Now I am not overclocked, but I am running this custom kernel. But the thing is, I'm not 100% on this, but If I remember correctly I do remember seeing this issue on other kernels as well before (I've been running Pete's for some time now).
I also occasionally experience issues with lets say finishing up a phone call, and my phone may lock up with that green screen w/ purple, and then CM7 will automatically reboot the phone for me. I've also experienced my phone rebooting into "Safe Mode".
Essentially what I am wondering is if anyone can shed some light, are these just software bugs that I am running into that other users are experiencing as well, or is this an issue with my phone?
Thanks everyone!

go to the main settings, cyanogenmod settings, display.. turn on the screen off animation. then go back to cyanogenmod settings, lockscreen, delay and timeout, turn both screen timeout delay and screen turned off delay to immediately. that should fix the green screen.

Music Stutter

Hi,
First of all I just want to say thank you to all the good people at xda. I am very new to Android and I have found much more useful things on here than anywhere else.
I recently got a Milestone XT720. It was running on Dexters Froyo. It had a whole bunch of issues but most were fixed when I finally decided to try to flash a newer ROM (First time) and went with the CyanogenMod 6.3 RC3 thanks to a Tutorial from this forum.
The only issue that remains now is that whenever you press the power button to return from sleep to just check the time or notifications the music stutters for just a millisecond. And then does the same when going back to sleep again.
I have found that turning off the auto rotate screen option will stop the stutter but that's not really a solution as much as a bad compromise.
Does anyone else have the same issue? Could trying a different rom make a difference? I am really starting to warm up to the XT720 and would really appreciate if someone could help out with this!
Oh and possibly worth the mention is that I flashed the cyanogenmod over Dexters and did not go back to stock in between. I have also tried the supercharger script on aggressive without any luck.
Thanks all!

Music pause is common problem on our devices. AFAIK turning off the auto-rotation sensor is the only solution. I have tried several ROMS but it happens with all of them.

Phone performs fine... why is there bugs/lags?

Hey...
I had kinda issue with the OPO.
When someone calls me.. the screen is blank and it take a few secs to wake up.
Or when i'm activating Google Now by pressing the Home button it lags kinda and then
works fine.
Sometimes my phone does "Quick Restart". it reboots by it self..
I don't know why but i think i have some battery drain too, I'm getting only something like 3-4 hours of OST.
Can someone help me with that?
Because basically the phone works all good. Playing GTA SA and other games perform fine.
Using : CM 12.1 latest nightly and AK Kernel 303.
Maybe a clean flash would help ?

Screen backlight stays on!

Hello!
My oneplus one is having this issue for a while now, When I plug it in and lock the device, there is a 60~70% chance that the display stays on but its just blank, I have to unlock it and lock it again to fix it.
Recently this also started happening when it was not charging and the screen would often stay on causing massive battery drain :/
This happens on every single rom all the way from CM11S up to CM13 and also oxygen os,...
Does anyone know what the problem is?
Thanks,
Noahvt
I have the same problem since I can remember, also looking for an answer.
I have a similar issue. Sometimes the screen stays on, but is dimmed. A simple double press of the power button resolves it (turn on full, turn off screen) but its mildly irritating. I have only noticed it since being on sultanxdas cm12 ROM. I had an issue with a notification LED app not working since a recent ROM update so uninstalled it. Maybe the issue was related to that app as I cant remember the issue occurring since I uninstalled it a few days ago.
