SD card partition? - Samsung Infuse 4G

Flashed cm7 and now trying to flash different modem through CWM. In root explorer I can see the modem.zip but I can't see any of the other rom.zips I keep on the root of my sdcard. Can't find them anywhere within root explorer in fact. So when I go to CWM to flash the modem.zip, I get the opposite...all other rom.zips and kernels are there but the new modem.zip is not?

Where are you copying the modem? Internal or external SD? External SD isn't visible in CWM (atleast on my phone).

If using clockwork mod as the above poster stated you have to copy the zips to the internal SD.

So does this mean that CM7 still cant 'see' extenal sd?
on IRC I was told to check /emmc but I did not find this with ES file explorer.
Am I missing something?

I literally JUST figured this out. For some reason, in root explorer, I have to put my downloaded zips (modems, kernels, roms, etc) in a folder on the root of my phone in a folder called emmc. This is new after flashing cm7 and somehow I guess I missed this helpful tip somewhere. Anyways. That is the folder in which I need to put items I want to flash through cwm. So sorted...
What's IRC? I apologize if this is obvious and missed that too lol!

[Q] Restoring back to Stock ROM? Problem?

Okay, so im returning back to Stock ROM for G2X because CyanogenMods version is horrible at the moment (too many glitches and freezes!)
I put the Stock ROM (titled LG-P999-V10.rar) back into the recovery folder of ClockworkMod folder.
It DOES appear on my SDCard that i have it but when i go into recovery, it does not show.
Why is this?
Move it to the backup folder and see if that works...

Hey thanks for snapping at the one person who was trying to help you. I understand you are frustrated, but come on... the OP says you put in the recovery folder. I was clarifying that it should be in the "backup" folder.
Also, didn't you do a nandroid backup before cm7 like everyone suggests?

Taking a wild stab here, but did you un-rar LG-P999-V10.rar and place the contents within your cwm backup directory on your sdcard?
Sounds like you just dropped the .rar file onto your sdcard -- it doesn't work that way.

It should be in the external sd card , it should be un rared and unzipped into /clockworkmod/backup folder .

Did not snap at him, I said I tried that and failed. Yes I did do a backup but when I recover it, it fails to boot into the actual ROM
You guys, i faced 2 problems and i dont know why

1. As far as I know, recovery only recognizes .zip files NOT .rar
2. Not familiar with CM7 so I suggest after converting to zip file, try putting the zip file in BOTH (SD Card & Internal Memory)
Hope this helps.

I had to unzip if and place the folder in the restore folder under cwr. To restore use the restore option under recovery, not the install from zip

So none of your back ups are recognized? Sounds like something went wonky in your recovery. Here is what I would try, but I am not an expert. Redownload the stock rom(probally from TGA's post) to your computer, unrar it to a folder named whatever, p999-stock, mount your phone or pull the SD card and use a card reader and place that folder in the "backup" folder of clockwork mod. Reboot into recovery and see if that works.
Failing that, reinstall cwr...
If no go... do a clean reinstall of cm7... wipe everything, install, I wipe cache again because I am ocd, fix permissions. Reboot, set up, load apps and fix permissions one last time...

[Q] trying to install rom

Hello, I'm having a bit of trouble putting a custom rom on my Samsung Infuse 4G. I followed the insructions in gtg465x's latest rom post, but it doesn't work for me. I'm rooted and installed the 3e recovery that says it bypasses the signature verification mumbo, but upon reboot it says "E: failed to verify whole- file signature"
"E: signature verification failed". Should I set it back to factory specs and start over? Yes I'm a noob at this.
I don't think the proper recovery is installed. Maybe it didn't replace the original one like it was supposed to or something.
I would try reinstalling the proper recovery again and then installing CWM.
wrong folder maybe
ok, thanks, I may have put it the wrong folder. I unzipped in on my computer, then dragged the file to the "downloads" folder on the internal sd card. l' ll keep reading maybe ill figure it out.

Yes use Root Explorer and replace the stock recovery in system/bin folder.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App
It has to be placed in /system/bin with proper permissions (I forget what perms at the moment).
I believe at this point the easiest way to install Modded 3e Recovery and CWM is to flash the Community Voodoo kernel using Odin (Samsung's update/flash utility)
Unfortunately I can't help you with that, I did it the hard way (replace recovery with modded 3e using the shell and not Root Explorer, since I'm a Linux guy and very familiar with Linux/Unix shells.)

Can't see .zip in CWM recovery

I looked for an answer before posting but couldn't find it and hoping someone can help out. I rooted my rogers skyrocket and installed ClockworkMod Recovery. I am trying to install a new ROM but when I boot in recovery I cannot see the .zip file on the SD Card but I can see it in file manager. Any ideas or solutions?
Is the zip on the external or internal SD?

Its on the external card.
Is it on the root of external sdcard? Excuse me for asking the obvious question but a lot of times its something silly that's been overlooked.

Yes, its on the root of the external SD card but I can only see the folders and no other files.
Look at the file format. Make sure its .zip and not .zip.zip. sometimes copying files from your computer to your phone will do this.

Its .zip and not .zip.zip but I am only seeing it in the file manager or on the computer when the phone is connected but in CWM all I see is the folders of the SD card and no other file.
This is really starting to piss me off, I downloaded about 5 different roms and none of them is showing on the SD card in CWM recovery in order to install. Is there any other way to install the ROM or anything I could do to see the files in CWM? I am sure the .zip file is on the SD card and I can see it when i file manager but once I go into CWM to install I cant see it. If anyone had this problem and has a way to fix it please let me know. Thank you.
I think I found a way to do it and its through Rom manager, there is an option to install ROM from SD card I clicked it and now i think its installing. Hope it works. I'll post my results in case someone has the same problem.
Solved the problem. I can only flash new ROM from ROM manager.
Try flashing cwm again or flash touch cwm.

Phone/SD Card Read Issue.

So I had a G2x before. It stopped working on me randomly. I ended up borrowing another G2x from a friend.
It's running 2.3.4.....I went to flash CWM with NV-Flash and it worked fine it seemed. But now the phone won't fully recognize the SD card.
I thought I remembered running into this problem the last time but cannot find anything on it.
The card works. I can put files on it and delete them by plugging the card straight into the computer. But when i plug the SD card into the phone it recognizes all of the folders but none of the files in those folders.
Ideas???
when I'm on stock 2.3.4 my phone actually makes my sd card directory /mnt/sdcard/_ExternalSD
So see if you have that directory...that should be your actual sd card
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
Alright that was the issue and _ExternalSD is a folder and has the files in it but CWM doesn't seem to let me into that folder either. :/
Well I guess I should have checked this last night and I don't know why I didn't. Flash CWM with NVFlash but the phone still doesn't have root access. Any ideas on that?

Flashing clockwork doesn't give you root... it only flashes clockwork. To get root flash any ROM.
I go into the external SD folder and go to the download folder there where the zips are located and they do not appear. They are there tho I verified that with astro and rom manager can see them but cannot flash the roms through it.

TWRP 2.3.3 issue

So for some reason 2.3.3 isn't showing the correct files when trying to flash, most folders are empty and everything was unorganized, went to CWM and everything worked fine.
Every time I try to flash 2.3.1 again it won't let me. Is there any other app like goo manager to flash twrp or a way to fix 2.3.3?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
What do you mean most folders are empty/unorganized? Which rom are you on and do you have a /sdcard/0 directory? When you say CWM worked fine, in what way did it work fine?
Beans build 9, it's not 4.2 but I do have 0 folders from previous 4.2 flashes. In a root folder I have all my files there and everything is there, in cwm everything is the same. In TWRP some folders are missing, the download folder for example is empty, and they arentbin the order they're supposed to be.

So your filesystem looks like this /sdcard/0/? If so, just move all the folders from /sdcard/0 to the /sdcard path. Basically, if you have this /0 directory with all your data saved to it, this causes havoc when you switch roms or want to restore backups.
I'm not understanding your flashing issue with TWRP. Did you place a rom on /sdcard, boot right into TWRP 2.3.3, and it just wouldn't see that rom zip or is it something else? Or did you put the rom zip on /sdcard/0?
It's actually the opposite, the /0 is showing and not the root of the SD card.

Could you screenshot what you're seeing? If you see /0, you can just go up one level and be on /sdcard.
I actually got it fixed but thanks for trying to help, the problem was that it was only showing the /0 folder and not the actual root so the root finally showed after flashing a 4.2.
The first thing on SD card was that 0 folder, weird problem.
