[Q] SE X10 MINI cant install some apps? - General Questions and Answers

I am trying to install the "LG TV REMOTE" app to my SE X10 Mini but I cannot see the app in the market on the handset and on the android market website I see the message "This app is incompatible with your phone."
I have had this issue with a few other apps but cant find out why this is so? Is it due to the small screen size or the version of android? The app should run on 2.1 which I have so i guess its the screen size. Does anybody have any workarounds?
I am thinking of upgrading shortly to the Xperia Mini which has a slightly bigger screen size of 3". Does anybody know if the app will work on that handset?
Thanks

Are you sure the app can run on your SE?
Just remember: it's LG's, there must be something special in hardwares of the LG phone to support the app.

Maybe it is needed IR Port ,Is there a your phone

[Q] Does anyone else not use "The Cloud"?

This is related to any phone or really any device, but does anyone else not really use cloud services? To me, it seems like a waste of time and money to stream gigs of music that I could just store on a microSD card, and if it can't fit on that microSD, then I don't need it - simple as that.

I apologize for that, didn't even think about that.
I tried google music, but you are right.
I didn't see any point in uploading all my music when i could just have put it on a sdcard.
There are usefull scenarios though:
- Giving multiple devices access to your music
- Managing it from a single site
Then again, do i wan't to trust a 3rd party with my music collection?
Bandwidth is a problem too for most users.
I do use dropbox though, regularly and extensively for files lecture files etc, but not for any music.

Android known issues and bugs

Id like to start a thread where we would post bugs and issuses that are present with all android devices, regardless of the manufacturer.
Purpose: it would be a hell easier for devs to find them that way and fix them, after all, it is in our interest to have andoid as close to perfect
(Only for STOCK roms and google applications)

Just in case you didn't know, once you've installed Eclipse (Java IDE), the Android SDK and Android Development Tools you can develop on Windows or Linux by using the packaged emulator. It's a bit slower than an actual handset (depending on your PC, of course), but it does mean you don't even need a device. You can set the emulator to run as many different configurations as you can think of as well, so you can develop for specific devices or factors etc.. I'd really recommend just getting going with that before you start looking to wreck your current phone Maybe a cheap low-end device might be a better idea in the long run, but the emulator should suffice for now.

[Q] App for android devices inquiry

I am a helpdesk analyst for a company that assigns android phones and devices. We need to update the database of all users who have a device assigned to them. We need to capture all the serial numbers from the devices. Is there an app for this? Or is there someone who can get me started in creating one.
Preferrably, we would like the app to have a user account that we would require all of our users to download and instal off the network. Ideally we could expand off this concept and actually deploy company updates and apps.
Any ideas?

Assuming you already have the device data? Couldn't you send out a push notification requesting current users to register their device on the network, and have all new devices registered before they're issued?
This way you could send out push notifications of when new updates are available.

Any Jukebox apps for android?

Hello everyone. I want to make a jukebox for my house. What I planned on doing that would make it much easier then building a pc with touchscreen is to build a type of cabinet with an opening on the top so when we want to use it I could slide in my tablet with the screen now appearing in an opening in the front so we can then use it as a jukebox. The problem is, I cant find any type of Jukebox app. Maybe I just am not looking right or maybe they just dont exist. Im looking for something that will have a jukebox type interface with album art, track lists, and the ability to queue songs.
Does anyone know of an app like this? I really appreciate any help.
Have you tried TouchTunes?
It looks like that app is more for controlling an actual jukebox. Thanks for the suggestion though.
