Without noobs, it would be a much cleaner forum without spam in the wrong sections.
He wasn't the one who set the rules, so it's not a high horse. The rules are there for a reason. Being a noob doesn't give you an excuse to break the rules and attack a dev.

I haven't seen this here. I'm wondering if anyone here knows about it. Either way, I hope it useful to someone. I have been using it for about a week. Its pretty stable. Go on over to http://rootzwiki.com/topic/18090-cyanogenmod9-for-o2x-and-g2x-selfkang3/ and check it out.

We all know about it. There are already 3 threads or something in General. There are also modded versions already in the dev section.

Um, Kind of why I never write things here. People are dicks on this board. Um, I was just trying to be helpful. But um, thanks for the unnecessary comment. Um, I'm sure there is a mod around who's job it is to decide if a post should be deleted or not. Um, I am also sure they are very capable of doing said job as well. So Um, your suggestion to delete this thread, needs to be, um, deleted. Also, Um, thanks for pointing out that there is a reason why its not posted here and for using your super douchebag abilities to point out that there is a reason, but not actually informing me of the, um, reason. Development section is for active developers of a ROM. Since we don't have RC participating here (he's on RootWiki) it doesn't belong on developer section.
The two developers that DO participate on XDA and have developed ICS based ROMs (HellFire and EagleBlood) have their own threads.

Can you help me understand why general, and not here?

Don't get discouraged bro. It's a reason why you can't post it here. 1. In dev section you change log, screen shot, disclaimers and on top of that you must be dev or have the dev permission. (to open a thread). In the general section is where you should have made this thread and it would be called a information thread. And it's 1 or 2 already made for arcee ics.

Also, the fact that you can't tell how much of a douche you are really concerns me. Yes, its people like you that ruin the experience of others. See info[]box1 @ 10:17. What could we expect...

If LG were to release ICS on the G2X? I see devs making great ROMs for it yet are hindered by a lack of drivers, which I assume would be part of an official ICS update. Any devs care to comment?

Not really. Pricks like him are abundant on forums, even the respected forums here on XDA. Still, just saying "what isn't working now will work" is not enough. With those broken features working, could devs be motivated to step up custom scripts and mods that go beyond even what's available now?

Respected forums? Xda? Maybe like before Android, not anymore now.
A lot of people are just disappointed with the same questions being asked like 5 times when you could just click a page or 2 back and see the same topic already discussed.
We just need an active moderator for these forums to merge the redundant topics together.

I don't know, I got my ass warmed for spamming, but then they hired me to spam professionally. I'm not trying to start anything, mt3g we've been down that road, accomplished nothing. Anyhow, my question is, and I understand basically, but why do you guys worry so much about people starting new threads? Its not using any storage space that would affect any of us. When a new thread is started, no matter if there's a thousand just like it, it promotes social gathering and in most cases, usefull information. But(never start a sentence with this), when you guys run your cruisers down here and go Gestapo on the op's, that's even more useless than the duplicate thread. Now, instead of a duplicate thread with new and useful information, its a duplicate thread with new and useful information that's been cluttered by flamers and rent-a-thread cops. Does it make sense? I'm coming to the G2x from a few other Android phones (LG Optimus V & Motorola Triumph) and it was hard to find the relevant and important info here even though I've written guides & developed for other Android phones before.
There's no need to depend on moderators, just a default thread to point everyone to with a FAQ section (maybe eventually sticky it or put it on the top of the stickied thread). Then it should be updated regularly by a person with good writing skills. or even a wikipage on github that a select few can update so the burden isn't on one person. Anyway I know it's towards the end of the G2x's lifecycle (until official ICS maybe), so none of this may matter, but just suggesting for future reference. Good, clean, & simple documentation prevents a lot of repeated questions.

Skyrocket Section Etiquette

ok so this is to help keep the peace i am posting this on top of the forum rules they may overlap or intersect. My goal here is to help keep down on the issues of repeat threads, wrong sections, trolling, and any other hijinx that comes here.
1. SEARCH
yes sometimes its hard especially on your phone with taptalk because we all know how that works. Solution: Try using google search using keywords such as xda, skyrocket, and whatever your issues is this always works for me.
If your on a computer use xda's built in search tool or google as i stated above.
I personally promise 90% of all issues can be found on the web with answers if you just take a few minutes to search
2. IF ITS A QUESTION IT BELONGS IN Q&A
It does not matter what the question pertains to it is a question and belongs in Q&A i have reported tons of these here recently having them moved. i know you think that its a general question but no it belongs in Q&A ok.
3. READ
This one is kinda broad for a reason here we go
If you ask a question within a thread at least have the decency to read the last few pages to see if anything comes up that may answer your question im not talking the whole thread but maybe 3 or so pages. The reason for this is that i have seen alot of threads where people have a question answered then not 2 or 3 posts later the same question comes up. This leads to cluttering of the thread making it much harder for others to find information.
This also goes along with wanting to make a thread look at like 3 pages of threads to make sure you dont have a reapeat post this thing happens alot again it comes from lack of attention.
4. TROLLING/FLAMING
This ones a big one and im a massive perp for this and will be the first to admit it.
We need to stop the trolling its just getting worse and not fixing anything yes its hard to ignore especially for us old timers but we need to set the standard now this forum is too big for us to be going on like we have been.
Solution: squash the issues by reporting if you wanna report multiple times fine get your buddies to report fine but lets stop the hate i personally am working on this as well.
i know you guys are gonna ignore this and whatever but my hope is the message gets across to you guys and makes this section a more peaceful place for all

You might mention in the OP that the best way to Google search the forums in to prefix the search with:
site:forum.xda-developers.com
So to search for 'skyrocket ics update' within the xda forums only would be:
site:forum.xda-developers.com skyrocket ics update

Also you could add links to the existing threads stickied in Dev. We all know their stickied for a reason, but many people overlook them and head straight for the new thread button

If you are going to help somebody, have the courtesy to check back on the thread so you know they are in the right direction.

I want my wifi calling, and when I tried to install google wallet, it told me it wasn't compatible, so I forced it in the rom, and now it says that nfc no worky.

I hope that more users will notice how we act here from other device subforums.
It drives me crazy when I try to read through the dev forum for sgh-i717 or most other devices, and it's almost impossible to figure out what the developers are doing, what issues are current, who is doing what... I mean if the idea is to be a development community and you can't track the development or have the ability to contribute because you know what is going on... So many users asking questions about the rom or kernel when there is a Q&A thread for that specific purpose. It really works against the community, and you see the high output developers leave because no one contributes to their projects and their threads are thrashed. It's stressful to be the only dev on a project, I have some experience there.
Thank goodness for contributors and other devs for jumping in on some of the projects I started or we started together or the projects we have now wouldn't exist. Not to mention the other devs that kanged that work to make something even better. I don't look down on that, because it keeps the flashaholics happy, and we all get to learn about their skill sets.
I think our community gets that. And the trolls just sorta get squeezed out by reporting their posts and keeping threads on topic.

I agree with you its frustrating to have ten million questions that have been answered or are self explanatory.
However if you goto the device the op is talking about they have multiple versions of the same phone all lumped into a category. Each one had a development section but there is only ONE q&a section. And with the amount of development on that device the q&a section moves extremely fast. That doesnt mean its ok to post questions in the dev thread AT ALL! It does mean the devs should be linking q&a threads in the first post so people arent hunting through 20 pages of current thread just to find it.

This is a under used suggestion. Even if in the wrong place answer the question move on. Report posts of people telling people to use search and not actually helping keep the thread clean. Think about it. How many times have you seen somebody post hey man use search and then multiple other people will do the same thing? I think I have been guilty but I try to avoid doing that anymore. If I cant offer a answer I dont post. It keeps the noise down and people from misunderstanding me.
