[Q] Super Wipe - HTC Sensation

I want install another ROM like HyperSensation-CM7.1-v0.6 , am i need a superwipe before installing it?
I'm just confused because i always wipe it manually with cwm, what's the different? somebody said using superwipe can make phone bricked
and can you tell me from who the best superwipe script i can get ?

Useing super wipe will knot Bricke your phone however you should backup your ROM before you do a wipe after backing up your ROM do a wipe useing clockwork mod and wipe you're delvek and wipe battery stats and then super wipe when super wipe is finished go to the down load folder in clockwork mod that is and install the ROM you have down loaded and your set

Superwipe is only necessary when flashing roms with different builds. Buy not necessary if flashing an upgrade over an existing ROM. I.e. (1.1-1.2) or what have you
You can grab a great superwipe from the revolution link in my signature. But as always suggested... nand back up before flashing ANYTHING.
Good luck boss

what makes superwipe necessary when flashing between different builds?

thanks for the answer
i will try with superwipe from ARHD lol

I've tested several different roms and used superwipe between them. Never had a problem

Basically the build is the base of the ROM. When you flash an update the base is the same so removing it to add the same one back isn't necessary.
However
flashing a ROM with a different build is using a different base to build the structure. Which requires a superwipe to get rid of the residual bits and pieces of the old ROM.
Think of it as you using a one glass to drink milk, chocolate milk and orange.juice out of...
You would start with milk, drink it. Would you then pour orange juice without rinsing your cup out? No but you would pour chocolate milk without rinsing first.
Then you would rinse and pour orange juice.
Same concept.
Rinse=superwipe

Sounds like snake oil to me. I've never done a superwipe and never needed to. If I'm switching ROMs or flashing an update that requires a full wipe I do the normal set of wipes in recovery plus I format the system partition. Always worked fine for me.

And that's all you every need to do. Superwipe is just a one click solution. If you format system (not factory reset) you just did the same thing more or less. Some scripts mess with other partitions but that, under most circumstances, is totally unnecessary.

Also, its been my observation that the flash scripts of the good roms will format the system if the release was not intended as an incremental update.

So: SuperWipe is a one click solution for Wiping
So in other words if you do a manual wipe, like the old style wiping, its the same thing, just a little more techy.
Great! *stick to old style*

S-off install custom rom

Hi I am about to s-off my sensation and just read a but about installing a custom rom and it says you won't lose data or apps. I just wondered how come that I won't lose apps and data because with my desire when I flash any new rom I do lose data and apps so how us this different for the sensation?
Thanks

Whoever said that you will not lose data does not know what they are talking about. When you flash a new ROM, you will have to re-install everything.
I just installed Insert Coin ROM and all my data and apps is still here.
I did not have to reset or reinstall anything.

Isn't the Insert Coin ROM just kernel. That will explain why you don't loose app/data
I flashed LeeDroid and did not lose any apps. Most devs tell you to format it on your own to avoid problems and others implement a script to do it for you, which may have been the case in other roms. Haven't experienced any problems at all here.
so if i flash a custom rom leedroid..... and dont do a wipe data and things in clockwork then i will have all my apps and texts and things all still there when i have the new rom installed?
will this cause problems am i better off wiping data and things?
having S- off problems
has anyone had problems getting the right beta code

I would wipe when flashing new ROMs.
Before wiping though, you can backup your app data using Titanium Backup:
1) Open Titanium Backup
2) Hit the Menu Button -> Batch
3) Run "Backup all user apps" -- this backs up your apps and data to SD card
Once you wipe and then flash your new ROM, you can then get Titanium Backup from the Market. Once again, do steps 1 to 2 above, then run one of the restore options
before i flash if i do a full backup in recovery will this keep my original rom incase i wat to revert bk to stock again ?

Yeah do that too in case you don't like the new ROM.

ice super light dark side super wipe??

to use super wipe you install it like a rom right? then with out leaving clock work follow rest steps? correct?
with new ice 5.0 rom do you need to super wipe? dark side?
should you?
also if I do super wipe do I still wipe cache davilk and format storage
I'm far from expert but the last two rims I flashed I only used superwipe and it went fine. You mileage may vary. The best thing to do is follow the devs instructions step by step. These guys know what they're doing.

A full flash is when you flash a whole new ROM into your phone. A full wipe completely removes a ROM on your phone and makes it completely empty. Thuse a full wipe is only advised when you plan on flashing a new ROM and after you have backed up your previous ROM.
Also, if you'll use the full wipe from Mike1986, ARHD, be careful, coz that not only deletes your ROM, but also some files on the SD card, like games data in Android folder, mainly everything in that folder...
If you mean full wipe, that is when you install a new rom, in order for it to install properly you have to delete - wipe all the
Data on the phone, but if you are just upgrading a rom you already have installed, then sometimes you have to wipe all the data.

Yep, it's always advised. If you're using 4ext recovery, you can format each partition alone, but not the SD card! Only data, system, cache, everything, but not SD card. Better than the full wipe zip in my opinion.
If you're going to update a current ROM, read the OP to know whether a full wipe is needed or not. If not, just flash over your existing ROM.

No boot... Phone crash..

Okay, my HTC Sensation does not boot at all. Even when i run the stock Firmware... It has S-OFF Revolutionary... The only ROM that works is the ViperS and that also comes along with the issue that says com.android.phone has stopped working, along with that the wifi does not work... I've tried EVERYTHING! Can anyone help me please?!
Make sure you have the correct firmware 3.32 or 3.33. Also download 4ext recovery. It's a great recovery and really easy to use.you're soff so you should after doing those things be able to place Rom at root of sd card, do wipe data factory reset, wipe cash, wipe dalvik then install from sd card and reboot. Make sure to have your nandroid backup to be safe. You shouldn't have a issue after doing these things.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium
I've flashed both 3.23 and 3.33 and still no progress and also i already have that recovery..... And i never did a nandroid backup so i'm stuck!
OK try to wipe everything aside from your sdcard from recovery. Then Install the rom twice, then reboot. Also have you used the superwipe script? Some roms, mostly aosp/aokp roms are not compatible with it. Let us know

did you do a clean install? it also happened to me when i was using my old micro sd. try changing microsd and use authentic one's. there are people who say's they install it on a branded micro sd but failed to boot. maybe they are using fake sd card. no offense meant, but try to buy sd card on authorized dealers.
Assuming you performed a clean flash including system and cache wipe, correct? I've had super stable roms (specifically mmuzzy) flash wrong for me. I've just had to go back, wipe everything again, and reflash. Can't explain why it happens but sometimes it does. Knowing that you probably haven't set a ton of stuff up yet I'd just re-wipe and re-flash.
Hope that helps.

super wipe script or manual super wipe. For me that super wipe script doesn't seem to work. I just do it manually. cache, dalvic, and factory reset.
I should also state my phone is a galaxy nexus, so it might be different for you. Best of luck.
