ShadowGun + Xbox Controller - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone else has tried the new ShadowGun game with XBox controller? I just tried, and it works flawlessly. You can re-mapped the button from the GamePad settings in the game to configure your own buttons preferences. The game is fun, smooth graphics, with the xbox controller it feels like having a portable console. Keep more games like this coming!
Share with you guys my short video:

Ok, now that's really awesome. Just installed it and now I've got to get the controller.

My charactor keeps pulling to the left when i connect my xbox controller, o ky way to play is on the tab itself' strange

Yep yep. First thing I did, didn't even try to play using the touch screen lol.

you are using a wired controller is it also working with wireless xbox controller for pc?

More controller supported games
Hi, if you are looking for more games to play with your gamepad, try these:
1) Cordy
2) Reckless getaway
3) Reckless racing
All of the games above doesn't allow button re-mapping, but they are still playable. Enjoy!

Anyone tried with the wireless xbox controller?

I cant even get the whole game to work properly. There is no gun on my character, all shells that fly out from that invisible gun are purple boxes and all enemies are invisible. I thought this would be wider problem with tegra2 devices but clearly it is working for some.
I have send email about this to the developer. Hopefully I get a solution to this at some point.

apparently there was an update release on the market for the game stating that the character with no gun bug has been fixed. I haven't experienced that problem myself and havent updated. Hope this helps.

I had the same problem. After uninstalling then re-installing the game, it was fixed.

I have it and have played the first 3 levels using a PlayStation3 SixAxis controller plugged in via USB, its working perfectly, its awesome.

Indeed working great:

Why wired?
The PS3 SixAxis controller will work wirelessly. I bought a white one specifically to use with my Transformer for games.

It doesn't work perfectly though via bluetooth (I've used it both ways, infinitely better wired).

Yeah, with the sixaxis app the analog joysticks pull too much after you stop moving them.
On the other hand, USB works flawlessly.

The Xbox 360 controllers are not Bluetooth like the PS3 controllers, so they will not work wirelessly. There is a thread about getting the PS3 controller to work via bluetooth

You can use a wireless controller, but you need the Wireless Gaming Receiver in order to do it. The WGR is for hooking up a wireless xbox controller to a PC, but it works on the Transformer as well.

The thing about that is its a bug in the 1.02 shadowgun update. On 1.0 sixaxis worked flawlessly, but when i beat the game i wanted to play individual levels so i had to backup data, update(uninstall/reinstall) and restore data. On 1.02 i noticed the joysticks pulling. Hopefully they fix it in an update.

Gaming

So yesterday I downloaded Nesoid and a handful of ROMs for my Captivate. I had some fun playing them, but using the on screen virtual keyboard was really hard and it covered most of the gaming action. So I see that the new psx4droid supports wiimote. So I emailed the developer of Nesoid and suggested that he add that capability to his too and that other than that its a great emulator. He emailed back and this is his response
You can use other apps on the Market. But please enable input method in Nesoid settings.

What does this actually mean? Is there another app that I have to download and install first to get the wiimote to connect to my phone via bluetooth?
I dont have a wiimote yet, and before I go buy one, I'd like to know exactly how it works, if it will.
Search for "Wiimote controller" on the market, should work.
You can use a few bluetooth gamepads with android. One being
MSI Bluetooth Gamepad (BGP-100) which is a weird kinda swivel thing. I am going to gut a SNES controller and put the BGP-100 into it. It has been done before and everything seems to fit fine.
There is also another bluetooth controller made for blackberry's that works with android. It is vertical gamepad with a trigger control. Seems pretty nice.
I think you have to buy a market app to get the drivers to make the above 2 gamepads work.
Also as mentioned you can use a wiiremote as a gamepad for android. I have been looking for a wii classic controller + wii combo, so it does not have to be tethered to a normal wii controller to work. I want small and portable bluetooth with a dfecent amount of buttons that is why I am going with the SNES form factor.
http://www.appbrain.com/app/com.ccpcreations.android.WiiUseAndroid
Free, although it does say there isn't galaxy s support....so it might not work.
wiimotes currently do not work on the SGS phones because of the bt3.0. not sure on the other BT controllers
Are there any controllers that can be plugged in? Just wondering for flights...
Well I emailed the developer of Wiimote Controller and asked if they could update to support Galaxy S phones. This is there response:
Hello,
thank you for your feedback.
I don't think this will be possible with the current way Samsung's software is handling bluetooth.
Best regards,
Piki

Doesnt sound good for us getting to use a wiimote as a gamepad
Trying to play Nesoid with onscreen vitrual controller sucks, its too hard and I'm afraid of breaking my phone. Every time I get into the game and start tapping A or B rapidly I can feel it flex and creak in my hands.
Just wondering in anybody has made progress on getting a bluetooth controller for the captivate/galaxy s?
Ive been looking into it...and came to a bunch of dead ends aswell :sigh:
Sent from my Vibrant using XDA Ap
Please let me know if anyone finds a controller that works.
Thank you,

Speaking of games...
I wasn't able to find any in the market but I'm rooted so I know I can find games from other sources.
Are there any games like Alone in the Dark (horror genre) or fantasy role playing that would have the same type of graphics you'd see in WoW that I can put on my Captivate?

3.1 update + FPSE + PS3 remote = HAPPINESS

Updated last night. Finally got to play around with it this morning. Plugged PS3 remote into USB port on the dock and fired up FPSE. Mapped all of the hardware keys from the controller in settings and now I am playing all of the PS1 goodness I can handle. Excellent!
what game u r currently playing ? and what version of fpse?
is there a chance to use a bluetooth controller aswell? or other solutions without a dock?
I haven't tried to use Motion in Joy to manully input the bluetooth mac address of my transformer yet as I am at work and motion in joy is installed on my computer at home. I am going to try that tonight and see if maybe they will pair now. I am playing Gran Turismo 2, Bloody Roar 2, Ultimate Doom, Rival Schools with no issues so far. FPSE version 0.10.31
The ps3 remote also works great with most of the other emulators.
So far, i've tested it on my transformer with:
Gensoid
Gearoid
SNesoid
Nesoid
Gameboid
GBCoid
N64oid <- for some reason i couldn't get the c-buttons to map to the right analogue stick properly, may look into this later...

so u are using older version than mine,0.10.48. I alredy tried 2 games : spyro 3 and Valkyrie profile, both have sound problem . I hope someone could test em too. the graphic quality is bad if compared to N64oid emulator, the 3d texture is pixelated, the resolution is also very low, so we can see the jaggy. my question is did I make wrong configuration?
about the game rom file, is it correct they come in several files like .ccd, .img, and .sub when we extract from zip file?
thanks in advance

I've got a master emulator game and controller compatibility thread that's growing. I'll update your findings but please stop there to post any games you have luck with.
When you say PS3 remote do you mean controller? It's wired right?
any chance we can get a step by step how you setup the ps3 controller to fpse...

Sure. Plug the PS3 controller in with USB to the dock (obviously). Fire up FPSE and choose your game. Go into the options/settings (for FPSE) and select input. Change Bluetooth pad port 1 to BGP100. Then on touchscreen I turn off the skins for the onscreen controls. This is optional but why have them on screen when you are playing with a controller. Then hit the hardware keys option. Tap the screen for each key then touch the corresponding key on the controller to assign them. Once all buttons are assigned you're done. You have to do it for every game the first time you play it then it will remember your settings for that particular game.
Also I don't run the game in full screen (someone was talking about the graphics) I run it in 4:3 centered. It looks better that way.
edit: Also didn't get a chance to use motion in joy to manually enter my transformer's BT MAC address into a ps3 controller last night to see if wireless might be an option now.
k thanks, i'll give it a shot
when i get to the part where it says press a key, nothing happens.....any idea what would cause that.
tried a different controller and it worked...weird...both work fine on the ps3.
thanks
oh and do i save within game or do i have to go to the fpse menu to save...keeps asking me to load bios, or do you have to do that each time you setup a new game?

On the system menu after you select a BIOS go down to the bottom and save as default config. You might have to push the home button on the PS3 controller to get it to assign the keys. It wasn't registering my keypresses on the assignment menu so I hit the home key like two times (it ended up registering the first button as home and I had to change it).

Have you tried Final Fantasy 7?
I never beat that game....
How would one go about trying to pair the PS3 controller to the Transformer via Bluetooth? Isn't motion in joy for a PC/Windows?
Thanks
So far I get nothing but FC's and problems with FPSE. Which version are you using and what games seem to work? I have a lot of old PS1 discs but none of the images I've made will load without a FC.
I've been trying to run off the micro sd. Is that a problem?

How to map xbox 360 controller/gamepad/wiimote?

Hey guys, looks like after the update the 360 controller works now
Great news but what to do with it?
I mean, its great for mapping the controls to emulators but I Want to map it for android games! Like asphalt 6 and NOVA and others!
This would also help us to map wiimotes and other gamepads to other applications and games.
Anyone know how?
anyone? please?

no way to map wiimotes and gamepads to other games other than emulators?
On a side note. I used my standard USB gamepad and it works great. I don't think you need a 360 or PS3 pad specifically.
Just any old USB gamepad. Mine is a Saitek or something. It looks and feels like a PS3. Its too quality of PC gamepads.
I also have a wireless Wii gamepad that works well.
I tested this last night and the controls just work. You can't change the mappings but the buttons function. So Nova and others will work. You also have touch screen for those games if something came up which required touch input.
For emulators with key mapping... you just map ad normal.
For standard android games... they just work.

[Q] Sixaxis Controller app on the Triumph

Just wondering if any has tried to par up a PS3 controller to the Triumph using the Sixaxis Controller app on the Market? Since the Triumph has a HDMI out the combo would be great for games on the TV.
I dunno man, I have no gaming system. But there is a fully-functional accelerometer in the Triumph and a decent compass too (does that even help?) so it should be a possibility.
Yes they work.
I have played a gripton of emu games on my triumph. I play ocarina of time using the wii+nunchuck and I also use my dualshock from time to time. Make sure if you are on stock to get the umph kernel to overclock your phone(don't overclock it too much, I usually go for 1.3-1.5) when you are using n64oid. If you're on CM7 grab isaac's kernel... I have yet to try the psx emulator... I'm going to download some psx games tommorrow and try some ps1 classics and see how that works out. Starfox however was streaming not bad actually, almost no lag, but sometimes an ocasional hiccup comes up, just pause and resume, if the screen freezes. Damn I digressed! YES PS3 CONTROLLERS (using the sixaxis app) AND THE WIIMOTE (using the wiimote controller app) ARE WORKING ON TRIUMPH!
However a while back I wanted to pair up 2 dualshocks on the n64oid but I could only pair one. Maybe by now this feature has been implented? I'm going to check this out tommorrow too.
Glad to know ill be able to use the sixaxis app with games.

Yes, I have also successfully paired and played a Nintendo 64, Super Nintendo, Nintendo, and PS1 games with my PS3 controller. It takes a lil while to first setup the bluetooth pairing and then mapping the controller to the specific buttons (which you may have to change for certain games to play right) but it is quite fun!
I did have trouble pairing two controllers as well. I'm curious to see if that is even possible!

Use Controller with Android Games?

Is it possible to either an Xbox360 or PS3 controller with Android Games such as Sprinkle, Angry Birds, Dungeon Defenders, T-Racer, etc...?
I'm also getting mixed info on whether or not its possible to use PS3 and Xbox360 controllers Wirelessly?
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using xda premium
not sure about those games but i use a wii remote for all my emulator games.
The game/application must explicitly support it. The only ones I know of that do right now are the emulators, Riptide, and the new Shadowgun(awesome btw).
I think you can use the XBOX 360 controller wirelessly with the USB dongle, which kinda defeats the purpose. No clue about PS3
Thanks, that's what I figured.
You can use the ps³ controller wirelessly with an app called sixaxis. Works amazing on shadowgun and emulators. Im sure itd also work with riptide but i dont have that game.
Thanks! I'll try it out.

The PS3 SixAxis app does the same thing as the WiiMote app. It binds the buttons to letters... which can be MAPPED in Emulators and games that support button bindings.
So Wireless gameplay on native android apps is probably a no go (except ShadowRun since it supports button bindings).
WIRED gameplay is totally different. Android supports WIRED controllers out of the box since 3.1 or 3.2... This should work... to some extent. Your using a controller for a game which requires touch input... may not work well. YMMV!

which driver do you use? I used RWiimote back in the day with my G2 without issue, but it immediately force closes on the transformer.
I got sixaxis working great last night, but it slugs the game down pretty bad. But at the time I was just rooted with bone stock otherwise, I'm in the process of flashing a custom rom, hopefully runs better with CPU tweaks. The only issue I was having with emulators was that I had to specifically select "Use Input Method" in SNES Emu, and I think N64 the option is called Use IME.
