Hi, I'm trying to replace the Voice Search of my HTC Sensation with the Mytouch 4g Genius Button app because of the fact it open apps and it has hands free mode, I extracted the apk's and lib files from my wife MyTouch and after moving the lib files to the lib folder and installing the apk's I could manage to get the call, send, handsfree, show me and check messages to work but the search, find and get directions option are not working everytime I try using them it gives me the "Sorry Connection Lost message" Please try again when you have service. Can someone please help me sort this out because it's driving me crazy I want to set this in my lock screen. Im going to post the files I extractedin the post below. any help would be greatly appreciated. Ican be contacted thru here or tweet me @eL_inc
Download link:

The files will be up soon, first I need to have at least eight post to be able to post external links. PM me if you need the files in the meanwhile. thnx in advance
Just zip them up and attach them here
Btw there are two apks. You got them both right? And two libs.
I cant because they exceed the size limit... The only way is dropbox so i'll have to wait until i get to eight posts.
Yep... Two Apk's vmode.apk and vsuite.apk and the lib's are libvsuite.so and libvsuite_sharedlib.so

This from the 4g or 4g slide?
Stock TMOUS 4g... Let me know if you need any file man & Thanks
Try flashing the Genius App that's posted in my sig. But, I think that app requires the actual phone to be a "Glacier"(board reference), and I'm certain the Sensation's board isn't glacier.
Just flashed your file, unlike any other file I tried this one flashed successfully but still the same problem, what else can it be, because everything else works except the ones that require internet/gps. I already have the file in the lock screen and is awesome just unlocking and say show me twitter and ta-dan!
Did you guys try " Launchkey" application? It gives you option of changing your Search key to any application or shortcut you want and works with long press.. Short press still opens search functions
Btw.. I have set it to Lock screen after installing " lock screen" application..(not widget)
Is there any way I could get my hands on the Genius button software for the myTouch 4g Slide, do you think it will mean any difference?? also, I was working rescaling the app and while I was working the XML's I tought to myself that it could be something with the permitions... If someone can tell me if there is any difference between the one from the 4g and the 4g Slide it would be greatly appreciated
It would be better to get the newest version from the mytouch by lg or the mytouch q by lg.

I don't know the exact differences...But, the one in my sig is from the MT4G's 2.3.5 update...And I think the MT4GS is also on same firmware...However it has sense 3.0 w/ mySense. I doubt they have major differences, but they're probably coded for specific phones. And when you should use button shortcut app, which is included in the .zip you guys dl'ed.

It sounds like you think you need the hardware buttons to use the genius button apk the fact is you don't! There is no need for the button at all. It is merely a shortcut, so that's not an issue. The mytouch by lg (not the mytouch q) doesn't even have the hardware button (the q does). Also I never downloaded the attachment in your sig. I pulled my own files from a system dump. I DID use the libs and apks from the slide, same issue.

I know you don't need the Genius button, on AOSP Roms, that button is just search, and Genius still works. That's why I think the app checks the phone being used, just like apps on the market; someone may need to decompile the app or w.e.

I'm still trying to figure this one out until the I will have to used the non-internet based functions, like call, send txt, show me app, and hand free. BTW Yesterday I used apktool to decompile it to check the xml's and the smali files but I ended up with a massive headeache... psst

I'm not 100% sure this is it since I don't have my Nexus One yet so I need someone willing to test.
I found it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0dFh9RKsN6w&feature=player_embedded
This is the same one that's pixelated on the Nexus One. Also, doesn't stretch the full screen in landscape mode.
It is still the pixelated version. That wouldn't even bother me that much if the correction bar on the top fit on the screen and wasn't horribly warped.
Damn sorry then. The one in the video looks good though.
do you need to be rooted for this? Because I tried it using an appinstaller. It shows up in the clicker, but when I create new messages, it reverts back to the stock google keyboard.
You have to go into the settings and enable it, then when you're in a message box click the box and hold, then select "input method". You can alternate between the 2.
haha ya i forgot to do the "hold" part in the message box. thanks!
pixelated...but at least i don't have to switch back n forth for numbers and punctuations. can't wait for the non-pixelated version w/ microphone key =)

We'll need a high-res 2.1 SenseUI device to come out - probably need to wait for a Bravo leak.
Yep, works fine on N1 running MCR1.1 but pixelated. Will have to live with that for a while as it still beats the hell out of the standard Android keyboard...
Is the file linked from youtube the same as this file?

So I emailed HTC to find out if they will update the htc_ime.apk so that it will work on the nexus or look properly I should say. I am currently waiting for a response... let you guys know when I get a reply. I will post it.

Ha good luck with that. They won't update it until they release a phone with the Hi-Res Sense UI.
Most likely we'll have to wait until a bravo dump is leaked or another sense UI device w/ a hi res screen's dump is leaked.
I'm running HTC_IME on the N1.... its great to have it back, only complaint is the lack of the dedicated 'microphone' key thats in the default keyboard... so AFAIK once you install HTC_IME you can NOT dictate text messages and the like
Does anyone know how to edit the dictionary for htc ime?
I don't know about editing words but you can erase it by going into your settings > applications > keyboard > clear data.
I installed this and it works great but my only issue-request would be to add more languages. The option is there, when you go to settings from inside the keyboard, but unfortunately, only english is available.
In the past, people have made language packs...could someone do on for this? pleeeeeeeease?
Thanks,
Lou
I used to change com.htc.android.htcime_preferences.xml file to enable dual language on my htc ime. I was wondering if this can be changed in the apk before installing. I dont want to root my nexus.
Thanks

ah ha... all along I was looking for "task killer" thanks!
I've been searching all day, and I can't get a working copy of the Froyo HTC_IME APK.
Does anyone have it, or have the ability to rip it? I really wish I didn't have to request it here but I've exhausted all my attempts here to find it.
Help would be really appreciated. I'm currently running Damage Control 3.5 which didn't get official Froyo Sense keyboard. The mod does not have arrows, which is necessary for EVO users.
-EDIT: If anyone knows how to rip it from a ROM, that information can help as well, as long as it's not too difficult. I can have a friend attempt to do that.
Here you go.
Y'all check this out!

I dunno how many of you use HTC_IME_hiRes version but this is a pretty sweet kitchen that themes it up in almost any way you want!
Awesome! Thanks major to the creator, gIMpSTa. And thanks to jonasl for the mod.
Yea the kitchen is convenient. Only thing is the XDA HTC_IME mod doesn't have multitouch or arrows like the official HTC one which is what he wants.

Thanks. For some reason, however, it says "Application Not Installed". Any reasons as to why this is happening?
Again, I'm running DamageControl 3.5.
I did, while waiting for a reply, find a backup made by Titanium that includes the keyboard as system data. I could not run a restore for it though. It feels like I just will never get that keyboard back unless I flash a new ROM.
So, out of the options below, what's my best move?
1. Troubleshoot the installation error.
2. Troubleshoot Titanium
3. Flash a different ROM
This might seem like too much for a single keyboard, but you don't know how much I miss those arrows...

I wish I had my comp, and I'd just post the apk.
Anyways dude, the froyo keyboard is nice, so I could see why you want it. I've tried swype, and just plain deleted that gimpsta crap after like an hour (its nice for people who can't theme, but just ugly compared to a themes froyo).
To rip the apk, just download a stock Rom, open the zip, and it should be in system/app/. From there, u have to adb push it to the system/app/ folder of your own.phone.
Another alternative would be downloading a stock Rom n deleting literally everything in the zip minus the HTC_IME and flashing it.

Lol, look at my keyboard on my theme. You can mod the jell outta the stock, it just takes effort, looks sexy and you still have the features that the generic Gimp keyboard is missing.

Hey! I'm not really sure whats up with that. I am downloading DC right now to see whats inside. I made a new flashable. Maybe it will work. Before you flash it i would remove any extra keyboards you may have installed. Then also look in your /system/app/ folder and see if there are multiple copies of htc_ime.apk. there really should be only one. lastly, i would go to >settings>applications>manage>all>TouchInput>Clear defaults(dunno if you can do this) but maybe clear data. Then reboot recovery and flash this file. Maybe it wasnt working because it needed the clicker.apk as well.
Hope something works for ya. These files are from fresh so maybe that is why they don't work. ???
Has anyone figured out how to get this keyboard to work on cyanogen?
What exactly is the clicker?
I just ripped the APK from my Stock Froyo install for HTC_IME.apk, which should be the right keyboard. I have the clicker installed from that other HTC_IME Mod apk that's been around for a while, but that's not the multitouch version and doesn't have the arrow keys.
I'm going to see if the same hacks the guy who hacked the first one will work on this new APK. But I can't play around with it yet.
Check out APKtool to decompile the APK and look at the source for the other HTC_IME mod to kind of see what he did.
I too would like to use it in my CM install.
the clicker is what allows you to calibrate/recalibrate the touch input
Did anyone get the 2.2 keyboard running in AOSP roms yet?

OMFG ARE YOU KIDDING ME! Months... months i tell you i have been using android. hero then evo. And i just now realize you can use the volume keys as arrows thanks to you. I have learned how to theme, i have learned how to customize stock ota's into custom rom's for myself, i have learned how to compile kernels from source by dual booting into my linux build. I have learned so many things... and yet, just figured this out.... sometimes i wonder about myself and my sanity,.
on topic now, i think the touch input keyboard requires more than one apk to be installed, or an apk and a library.
Okay, I am not 100% sure about the title, but anyways this is a thread for developing the power menu mod from snq- per this thread HERE. On the second post is the patch used to edit android.policy.jar. Since the position of the lines to be changed are different on the Hero, I loaded up everything in Notepad++ and edited what needed to go where. I know this exists already in the 2.2 Roms, but would like to see it on a 2.1 Rom as well for those of us who still want to use a sprint rom.
The issue is that once edited, it adds the power menu under the power off button and is called "Cut all" (Should be noted that if you click Power off, the same menu comes up). When you click this, you get the 3 options for power (normal, recovery, bootloader) as well as 2 buttons - "Broadcast all Key [event?]" and "Cancel." The first button is supposed to say "OK" but does not. If you select an option and click the first button, it just reboots to the boot animation no matter what option you select.
I do not know what the regulations are for posting someone else's work in a post, so the patch can be found in the thread above on the second post. I will attach the files I changed as soon as I re-edit them. I ran baksmali, edited the files, and then because I wanted to see whether it worked or not, I ran smali when done editing. Can't run baksmali again without an odex file, so I have to redo the whole thing. If it wasnt going to create the menu, I was going to give up and go on about my business...the other option was that it would display the menu and everything would work. I did not include for the third option of displaying the menu, but it being incorrect, so I did not backup my work. I have an original android.policy.jar, and the edited one. Please give me time to redo the edits and I will post a zip of the 2 new files, as well as the 3 edited files.
Another option is if anyone has actually accomplished this on a 2.1 Hero CDMA Rom and can point me in the right direction. In the post above people say it works on the hero, but I never could get it to work, so went to editing the files manually. I think they were using the GSM Hero. Anyways, looking for some help on getting this Mod working
Since there is never going to be any posts in my threads offering help, I may as well delete my user account and go back to a guest user. Also, this is obviously dead with no support from anyone. Thanks all.

Wow... all the devs are working on porting gingerbread and you're mad cuz they can't get to your question about an aging build?? If you want to stay on a sprint rom, do it. But don't complain when others move on...

Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
It sounds like just using the quickboot app would do what you want.
Finally got this to work on Sprint 2.31.651.7. Took forever, but it finally works on a 2.1 CDMA Rom. There may be other 2.1 roms with this functionality, but I havent seen it.
is it completely finished and working?
if so do i have your permission to use in my rom?
I am going to test it out in my rom and make sure it works (Ive only applied as update.zip). Once I do that, I will post the android.policy.jar - the problem is that I have also removed the menu unlock, and it is using a different build. If you give me some time (end of weekend) I could probably pull out what I did and you could decompile your jar file and edit the files. I only worry about the build mismatch. But it is not my work, it is snq- I just figured out how to do it for our specific phone and for 2.1. It has taken about 5 months for me to figure this out, so I am PSYCHED!!! Let me know what you need to include in your rom (I can give the file, I can tell you what I changed and how to actually get it to work, I can give you the smali files, just let me know)...also, make sure to credit snq- from the link I provided.

Once you download it you'll need to put in on your memory card. After that you'll need a file manager (install ES file explorer or Astro file manager from the market). Than use the file manager to navigate to the apk on the memory card and start it
But you won't like the widget... The buttons are messed up.
Better get something different from the market

Sorry for bumping an old thread, but want to throw out an offer here rather than starting a new thread. I'd be willing to pay someone if they could get the task widget fixed to run on the Sensation. As stated in the thread, it works but its buggy. If interested, shoot me a PM.
Oh man, thats one of my favorite widgets from HTC. Hopes someone can modify it...
mine too! now i'm cnm 7.1.0.1 and the only thing that i realy miss is the htc note widget. how can i get it back?
Back to Sense ROM it's the only way to have sense widgets working.
I love that little apk too but sadly not able to use it on my sensation.
However, you can try TO DO LIST WIDGET (by Chrisbailey).
I use to replace Work 2.0. You need to change the default setting a little to make it look like Work. (The settings is very visualized and easy to setup.)
Although its not 100% the same (looks and functions similar enough though).
this is the one function I really miss with LPY. In fact its such a big deal for me I'm not switching to ICS just so I can have the double-tap-home-button functionality!
Is there a corresponding mod or app I can use for this, in the LPY roms?
There's Advanced Home Button that I used to use on my SGS1

what do you mean double tap home? Im on LPY ics and when I double tap my home button the Voice talk starts up. I swear when I was GB it did the same thing with the Tap & Speak or say "Hi Galaxy".
yeah actually thats what I was wondering exactly. with double-tap home button I tried Criskelo's ICS and nothing happens. COuld you try that homemyhome app I posted above and see if it is able to replace the Vilingo/Voice Talk app, to start up a different app?
ps. please do necessary backups first

I would love to help with that but unfortunately I did not go with the rooted method for LPY, at the time it seemed a little too risky. I did try to install anyway but of course without success as it shows there is an apk with the same signature
think you've to uninstall the Vilingo/Voice Talk app for that to work. thanks for trying anyway.
