Hello guys.
Just wanting to know if it is possible to change the default partition sizes on the sensation?
I did this on my Desire.
I noticed that there is currently a lot of un-used space on the system and cache partition and it would be great to re-allocate this to the data partition to give more space.
Can this be done somehow?

The only reason there are that many custom partitions for Desire is that it is lacking app space.
With Sensation, you have no such problem, so it's kinda pointless repartitioning it.
Maybe in 2011, it is pointless.
Now in 2015 it is a must.
I give my old htc sensation to my father. In original 4.0.4 or 4.1.2 and in year 2011 1gb data is enough but in year 2015 apk files are so big now.
I install andoid 4.4.4 aosp so my system is 600mb free in 1gb now. without any program installed data is 1gb free in 1.1gb.
I repart mtk based phones as
before:
1gb system
1gb data
1.5gb storage
after
0.8gb system
2,6gb data
no storage as all storage is micro sd card installed.
1gb data is only for 20 apps installed and 1 week internet surf.
2.6gb data is for 80apk and 1 month of internet surf.
htc sensation has abour 3.2gb real nand
0.78gb system
1.1gb data
1.1gb, boot, recovery, kernel, lib, dev, cache, mnt, vendor drivers etc.
there must be a way to do it like:
0.5gb system
2gb data
0.6gb others.

There's one particular problem with that.
I was thinking the exact same thing as the O/P.
Reduce the cache partition and expand the O/S partition.

Hi,
I have a problem with data space.
Therefore I removed those aplications from system folder :
Swype.apk (11 MB) - for czech and many other user useless because of absence their language support
Layar.apk (5MB) ? - useless too - I do not wanna anyone know where I am located
Samsung Apps.apk (5 MB ?) - useless because Samsung GAY policy
Thinkdroid.apk ( 5 MB) ? - I never used , but I wanna install it on sdcard - weird after remove from system, it was not possible to install it - phone rebooted
Ive expected I will have more free space for aplications, but I have not
So I have now :
System : 182.99 MB used, 27.64 MB free
Data : 188.86 MB used , 5.29 MB free
Cache : 792 KB used 32.03 MB free
My goal is ofcourse to have as much as MB free at DATA folder / partition
Is there any EASY way how to make it happen without data loss and most important - without PHONE BRICK ?
so some partition manager ?
I tried already some trick to have 2 partitions on SD and ofcourse, it does not work - it take only 1 or more hours to get 30+ GBs of music, maps etc back to SD
I am not sure if this works for example at Kyrillos 7.0 , but if I have to download something over DATA connection and cant use wi-fi , then this solution is unacceptable
Of course my goal is to have unchanged aplications and their data + I5800XXJPS
My dream is Android 2.3.4 , but I will wait till FM RADIO and other non working stuff will be solved
I found this http://android.modaco.com/topic/331205-guide-how-to-get-more-free-space-for-your-apps/
but it looks too hard and I need more like 128/136 MB for system partition
I am using APP 2 SD Pro and Move2SD Enabler set to EXTERNAL
for example install ANGRY BIRDS is impossible even I have 200 MB free at my 32 GB SDCARD
thanks for your help
Bro, wrong section.
And you have a 32 GB SD card. Then make a 1 GB ext4 partition. Rest 31 GBs you use for songs and all. Kyrillos has apps2sd v2 enabled. Only /data/data/ remains in internal memory. If you don t want that to also, then you can use app2sd v3. It works. All apps that you install will goto ext4 partition of SD.
It may be possible but there is an easier way. If you are low on space for apps, that means that data partition is full, you on the other hand, you deleted apps from system partition so you have more space there. So... go to data/app and move some of your instaled apps from there to system/app. Be sure to leave some free space on system partition, especially if you are going to change themes, then leave 10mb free.
thanks

Thanks all to respon, specially You,
I alraedy did exactly You suggest and it helps
I do not wanna go ext partitions, I alraedy deleted some most biggest size files from Dalvik-cache too
if there are a some steps how make works APP2SD ver 3 without partitioning SD, then please write how
now I am trying Regina Launcher first time, initializing takes so loooong
Best Regards

I was looking on the storage tab and I saw 4gb space taken by .. something.. I am curios , what could take so much space ? I have a database server running centos that takes less. Anyway , I havent rooted my phone yet and I am curious . Anyone could tell me what is there eating so much space ? Also with custom rom can you free more space from that ? I come from Desire S, there the stock 4.0.4 rom was using 5-600mb .
That "Other" is probably a load of cache and data that has built up over time and that you've never bothered to delete. At least 1GB of that will be Facebook if you are a heavy user.

The phone is 5 days old. And no I don't use facebook , those 4gb in other remain there even after factory reset. That is why I am asking.

You can try clicking the make more space button and clearing some apps' cache.

4.50 / 6.07 is just not true. You do not have 6G of app storage. You have about 2.50G.
So it's possible that you have about 1G used, and therefor about 1.50G free. (If they calculate used space from free space plus an assumption of total space..)
The layout is:
10G - sdcard
2.5G - data
1.7G - system
0.25G - cache
rest - sbl, hboot, boot, recovery, radio, wifi, modem, splash, ...
Touch of jobo what you say makes sense , but I just dont understand what can be in /data to eat 2.5gb or in system to eat 1.7gb

Those 2.5GB and 1.7GB for data and system respectively are the partition sizes. It doesn't necessarily mean they are full. (In fact, they are not.) It means we could technically flash ROMs that have up to 1.7G of /system. (Currently, ROMs take only up to about 700M tho.)
I believe that you have about 1GB of apps and app data on your /data partition, so about 1.5GB of /data free.

You should download a file manager and have it inspect your SD card to see what's on it and in your internal memory(Not sure if Stock Sense had something like this) I used ES File Manager and it gives you a pretty layout showing what's using what
Thanks IntelligentAj very good ideea . Look at the 2 screenshots taken with sdmaid . The partitions look different and some space is not there
later edit.
Actualy I took it to calculator .It adds up to 5273 mb , is close enough I guess. Should help if anyone else has questions on stock JB partitions .

I would strongly recommend rooting your phone though and installing a custom ROM. Stock Sense is exponentially slower than pretty much all custom ROM's
I will root it no doubt about it . I have a desire s and lenovo tablet all rooted . But with this one is more complicated .. I have to keep it untouched for some time. And I was curious about the space .
Oh I was worried when I first rooted my phone but they have all in one tools or you can do the actual adb stuff, which isn't hard at all as long as you follow directions

Good companions I have a question and I expose the case. I have an S2, recently gave me the famous message "internal memory full", the easiest solution and suggested in all forums is, "install App2SD and move applications to the external SD". Matter solved. But I have to be in that game forever.
Investigating I saw that the partition for apps is aproximately 2GB and is in / data. Now this issue happens on versions of Android Gingerbread 2 * and down. And ICS version 4.* and on, the phone works with a single partition, where for example if my memory is 16GB, I have aproximately 12GB for personal data and apps and apps data. Then if I want I can install 12GB of applications.
Now, as the S2 came from the factory with Gingerbread (like me) if I upgrade to ICS or JB, the update changes the internal SD partitions to a single partition or maintains the original partitions? (/ boot. / recovery. / system. / cache. / misc. / data.)
All this with OEM Stock ROM. Now if you keep the original partitions then, if I install the ROM via ODIN, I can change the partition scheme to a single partition (as ICS or JB) to avoid the problem of "internal memory free space"?
Greetings and thanks. :good:
Is it possible to resize active partitions/
I am running Stock JB on sytem1 and ParanoidAndroid 4.3 on ssytem 2 (this is my primary system). Prior to ROM flashing I created (3) 1GB partitions for each system. Now my Data partition for system 2 is at 100MB even after I moved every app I could to the SD card. Every thread I looked at said 1GB was more than enough for a data partition so I cannot understand how I've run out of space. Perhaps I am not using the partition structures correctly. Anyway, I was hoping to resize an active partition the same way I have with Partition Magic when resizing a Windows drive partition. Thanks for any replies.
Ok, I have two Devices a t959 and a t959v. I have brought them both up to android 4.x.x with the appropriate files for the device. Somehow the T959 repartitioned the amount of system RAM from 500Mb to 1.5Gb while the t959v is still at 500mb. On the t959 I flashed to stock, using the Samsung Vibrant Root tools. (T959UVJFD)
then the update.zip recovery from 03.11.2102. then to cm-7.2.0-vibrantmtd and then to Xperia Vibrantmtd 4.2.2. I didn't notice the repartition until I ran out of space installing the same apps that were on the t959 and then compared the two phones under settings/apps. the t959v says 410Mb used and 117Mb free. the t959 says 373mb used and a whopping 1.1Gb free.
I looked at the log for the Xperia update and came across this: "Creating file system with parameters: Size: 1589624832 This would indicate that the partitioning happened during that update.
My upgrade path on the t959v was Oneclick Stock restore, then bhundven-blastoff-v2.5. then CM 11-20140908-UNOFFICIAL-galaxys4gmtd.
I didn't see anything similar during the update in the t959v.
So my dumb question is: Is there a way to have a similar memory partition on the t959v?
It seems to be that having the larger system partition goes a long way to making the phone really useable since after about 9 apps the normal system partition fills up. Is there a downside to having the larger system partition?

First off, welcome to the forums!
By "system RAM", I'm assuming that you mean data storage for apps. There are typically three main partition to worry about: the system partition which contains all the preinstalled apps and the OS (Android), the data partition which stores all user installed apps and data, and the sdcard partition (optional) which stores music, videos, pictures etc. The RAM is used by the phone as a place to hold the data that is currently being used.
The TL,DR version is this: The T959 has 16gb of storage, the T959V has only 1GB. Read on for more info...
One of the key differences (to the end user) of the T959 and the T959V is that the T959 has an internal SD card while the T959V does not. So for the T959, there is 16GB of space, some of which is used for the data, some for the system, and the rest for the sdcard partition. On the other hand, the T959V just has a larger oneNand partition than the T959. On the T959, it stores the recovery, boot, and efs partitions (which are not really important for the end user, just that they work ) So on the T959V, it has a larger one (about 1GB) that stores the data and system partition in addition to the recovery, boot, etc partitions. The sdcard partition is used when you insert a microSD card into the phone. On the T959, when you insert an microSD card it is used as yet another partition that the T959V doesn't have.
Note that this is a bit of a simplification.
It is possible to have more space on the data partition to install apps, but then you have to move the data partition to the microSD card. This is slower but definitely possible.
Hope this helps.
