[Q] Best way to root Liquid Mini - General Questions and Answers

Hi. I'm new in hacking devices. My phone is an Acer Liquid Mini with Android 2.2 Froyo and I have some questions:
1. What is the best way to root my device?
2. What is the best ROM that I can find? I want one that can ugrade the OS to 2.3. There is an official update, already?
If it is possible, provide me links with the best tutorials to do that.
3. If something goes wrong, it is reversible?
Thanks for all the answers and sorry about my english.

Got all your answers!

Hey,
1. The best way would be to use "Super One Click". If you want to know the version I used 1.7 for my liquid mini.
2. Yes there was an official upgrade in October I think. I just got it updated an hour ago and I am on top of the world feels like the first time I got this phone, it looks totally new and no acer UI (thank god) but the new UI in place of the old one looks really awesome. Worth the upgrade. Just go to System>Update phone; and make sure you have atleast 410mb free on your SD.It gets upgraded to 2.3.5.
3. While rooting it won't screw up, it never does. (very rarely unless you act smart and remove your battery during the process) Its very safe nowadays to root.
Hope that helped.

Phone Specifications:

Hey huwaw69,
I think there is no way around rooting and flashing another ROM.
Please follow these Instructions:
Rooting:

Here you can find a list of ROMs:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=950324

What do you mean by: I think there is no way around rooting and flashing another ROM.
I Used z4root to Root the phone but the option i choosed was the temporary.
Now what? what is gonna happen? how am i gonna acecss something?
Hey huwaw69,
now you can install ROM Manager and ClockworkMod to flash a new ROM
good luck,
greetings,
KanocX
Hey huwaw69
I didn't have that problem, but it looks like you have the same model of phone that I have. I bought my phone second hand, and it had a few troubles with it's configuration which I manages to sort our by doing a factory reset and sifting through all the settings for both my phone and for my network.
However, the best thing I've done so far for my phone (and my sanity) was to install a custom rom on my phone (just like KanocX suggested). Before you do anything though, BACK UP YOUR SYSTEM... i.e.all your contacts and messages and such (which you can do with a free app like Titanium Backup... but if you can't access Android Market, I'm not sure how you can get it).
Just so you know, I'm no expert with the current generation of phones, but after some careful reading on this forum in the x10 Mini Pro Q & A section, all in all after a coupla hours my phone was better than ever, and bug/crash/freeze free.
Again, I'm no expert, but installing a custom rom I'd say is the way to go

[Q] New Android Noob

Hey guys,
I just purchased a used Asus Transformer off of Ebay and it has arrived yesterday. I'm pretty much an Android noob but to my understanding the Asus has already been Rooted. From the description given on Ebay the device seems to have a Rom called Android Revolution HD (or something) What I want to know is how can I tell if my device has this Rom installed since it looks exactly like the Asus stock firmware? (Just in case this version is outdated or I want to change to a new Rom) I also see that this device also has a custom kernel ([email protected]) My question is, is it possible to return to the stock kernel of Honeycomb? Or is there any recommended kernels out there? Is it possible to flash a new kernel without affecting the Rom or Root? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for helping a noob out!
Did you buy it from someone else?
Wolfbreaks ROM with DoomLord Kernel = Awesome =)
Yeah I purchased off of someone else on Ebay. I did ask him to unroot and restore to factory settings which i thought he did since I'm not too familiar with Android. However after some reading last night I found out that the device was still rooted since it had the app Superuser. That's why i want to know how can i tell if the device is still running the Android Revolution HD Rom or not. Since I don't know if he removed it or not.
You can identify it at about phone or phones detail.. Theres a build number that state your rom
Wolfbreaks ROM with DoomLord Kernel = Awesome =)
Oh so the build number will indicate if it's a custom Rom or not?
Depends.. Usually itstated what rom you use..

Hello everyone, I'm not sure about which section to post this but, I have read the threads about rooting and going down the ''proper channel'' to root, SE says, if my Bootloader unlock allowed says 'NO', rooting can't be done. I just bought an Xperia Play800i and it says NO.
Is there any way to root it? Also, what is recommended first in your opinion > 1.(Unlock,Root,Flash) or 2.(Unlock,Flash,Root) or 3.(Root,Unlock,Flash).
Many thanks in advance.

sorry but in Samsung galaxy plus (i9001) where i can look to see that effectively is my custom rom installed?
Try going into settings and looking at device info. It may have what rom it is running in there. If not, I am not sure where else you could find that out.

[Q] "rooting" depends on what?

Hello all,
I have an Defy Mini XT321 and this is pissin me off..
Many useless(for me) native apps installed, no way to uninstall, no way to move to SD.... with a 300mb rom memory... so sad
OKay then... All i know it cant be "rooted" yet...
But... What exactly we(Defy mini users) are waiting?
1- Motorola releases some code so it can be rooted, 2- or some bad ass programmer discover how to root it?
Cuz in case 1, i can start to became worried, in case Motorola never releases this "code"...
Thank you!

Not sure if there is a root method yet, but I think this post might help you with your memory woes
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31657836&postcount=221
Also, I think you might have better luck finding answers to your questions here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=852
That's the specific forum for the Motorola Defy (there doesn't seem to be one for the Defy Mini)
If there is a root method, you'll probably find it in the Motorola Defy: Android Development subforum (take the second link I posted, then click Android Development)
And root methods can come about from either one of the things you mentioned. It's just whatever comes first. And bear in mind that Motorola is owned by Google now, and so that might change their openness to letting users gain root. (though carriers will probably still be against it)
Good luck!

Can I upgrade Alcatel Hero 2 to Lollipop?

I'm a complete newbie in the Android world (iPhone user), so I'm so sorry in advance if I'm asking a stupid question. So today I bought an Alcatel Hero 2 from Amazon. The device hasn't arrived yet. The device has Android Kitkat on it and from some youtube review videos I knew that the customized Android version installed on the device is chubby so I thought if I can upgrade to vanilla Lollipop then the performance will improve.
There is very little information on the web about the Hero 2. I only found a webpage (can't post a link here because I'm new but google for "upgrade alcatel hero 2 lollipop" and you'll find it) that says one can upgrade to Lollipop, but it seems to be SCAM. Thus I thought it's better to ask here to get trusted answers since I don't want to get into security problems.
I know what ROMs are and have a little background but I don't know where to get trusted ROMs or if it's possible at all to upgrade my phone. I appreciate any answers.
Many thanks in advance!
Probably not, unless Alcatel comes out with its own Lollipop update or more threads appear here for Hero 2 ROMs.
The Hero 2 isn't very popular, or at least well-known, in the US. I'm surprised you even found it for purchase. Was it on the US Amazon site or a foreign version? Got a link? I was interested in a Hero 2, too, but I could never find it, and now it's getting a little long in the tooth.
Sorry this isn't the answer you wanted. Is it an all right phone overall, though? Reviews were generally favorable.
I don't think there is Lollipop rom for your device.
Hi guys,
any news about lollipop update? Im choosing between Hero 2 and LG G3, but Hero 2 is cheaper for me and it has little bit bigger screen. Any advices please?

7.1.2
Hi there, I managed to port a RR rom (7.1.2) for this device. If you still want to try it out let me know, I would make a thread but sadly I can't
Please, if it is not too much trouble, you can update the link

This is weird, I looked all over and cannot find any links for original flashing files, not even 4PDA.
But, the rom I ported has no sound (unless you wear headphones), and camera is not working. This was basically just an experiment on trying to port it for first time, but sadly I do not have the device anymore so I won't be able to help much. If you still want to try it, here's the link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/general/rooting-roms/resurrection-remix-5-8-5-alcatel-t3913051
Meanwhile I'll try to keep looking for the original stock ROM for your device, there has to be something.
I'll let you know if I find anything.

Android Update for Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 - Suggestions and How-to

Hello everyone,
I'm new to this platform and to be honest a bit overwhelmed. Apologize if this thread is in the wrong section.
I should also mention that I'm not too familiar with technical points.
I own an old Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 (P5110) which claims its Android version 4.2.2 is still the most recent one for this device.
So I'm looking for a way to update to a newer versuon, at least Android 6.
My first question is which Android version you suggest?
Second one, how exactly do I do this (is there a step by step tutorial)?
Third one what are the risks? I read something about data loss and completely broken devices?
Thank you in advance.

Mate, I'm on the same boat. Same tablet, also overwhelmed The only response to your post points to some custom ROM page but the instructions are not detailed. I thought I had to throw my tablet but it seems like it still has some life to breath if I can get it a newer ROM (many apps are not supported anymore with Android 4.2).
I think the first thing to do is root the device but where to start? I'd prefer using linux with adb, etc.
There is a lot of stuff here. Is there anyone that has taken the time to write a detailed step by step guide somewhere?
BTW, my intention is not only to revive the device but to ditch all Google crap apps. In an ideal world, I would have installed a ROM from /e/ Foundation, but they do not support the device so I guess my next best bet is some custom ROM that uses LineageOS?
Hi,
First you need to root your device and install TWRP recovery:
More info here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...final-root-single-step-twrp-recovery-t3404779
It's an old thread but you'll get the idea.
See this one as well:
https://www.getdroidtips.com/twrp-recovery-samsung-galaxy-tab-2/
You'll need to find the correct version for your model otherwise you'll and up with a nice paperweight.
After this, you'll be able to back up your current ROM and install new ones. Unfortunately, I have a different model of Tab 2 that has no available custom ROM's so I can't say which ROM is better than other. I would read more in the link provided for slim roms.
To get rid of the installed bloatware and even Google apps I used SD Maid. See my thread below with what's left on my tablet (Disclaimer: it's a barebone setup and not all things work so I don't advise going that deep unless you're willing to take the risk of having a bricked tablet. You were warned!):
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...recting-samsung-tab-2-10-1-att-i497-t4079993/.
Cheers!
