[Q] I Want to Record in 720p - T-Mobile LG G2x

I have been using the LGCamera with Weapon 3.0 but the front facing camera is not good. I want both cameras to work well So I flashed the stock gingerbread, and all works well except that the video options, well, there are none.
I would like to be able to choose 480p, 720p and 1080p, the CM7 camera from 7.101 has more options but I didn't get to test/check the output resolutions.
Is there a good app for this, I am I stuck jumping from LGCamera 3.0 to Stock, is there a CM7 Camera flashable zip for stock root gingerbread roms?
I think the IPhone 4S can only record in 1080p too. Lol, Android is about options!

720 p recording on HTC HD2

Can we record videos in 720P if we load android onto HTC HD 2 ?
To be polite NO
No because an android port is not possible yet, ( although it is linux with a pretty UI ), and our hardware cannnot do 720p unfortunately.
okay, but with the hd2's config, shouldnt it be able to do 720p video recording in its current setup itself? at 5 megapixels, the camera is decently equipped to handle 720p hd video, and of course i am guessing, but with a 1 ghz cpu, hd video should be possible?
Yes and no, its in the realm of the possible but currently not much is known about the camera, there have been tweaks in the past (like 7mp panorama shot) that turned out to not really work.
I would like to see it as much as you though, heres to hoping some of the devs want it too
all of us hd2 users have been cheated. HTC now released the same model albeit with 8mp camera, android and 720p video recording in the us. How crappy is that? and its unlikely that htc will be releasing updates for hd2. This sucks, we bought the flagship product of the company, and they dont even have the decency to release tweaks which should have been there in the first place. products that are 30% cheaper and with not even half the config can pull 720p video recording .

This one has no UMTS abilities ;-)
i don't understand why HD2 can't recording in 720p, he has the hardware capacity
Windows Mobile...
It's not a hardware limitation, the Snapdragon chip is more than capable of encoding and decoding 720p video. However, Windows Mobile does not support this in any shape or form. So as long as we're running Windows Mobile, no 720p for us, unless it's somehow hacked in...
we have 640i,
dont know about 720p. But i am pretty sure with the right camera drivers and htc hacks atleast 720i should be possible. But i guess no good the sensor of our hd2 is and if it can take so much pixels at that desired framerate
i loaded my htc hd2 with android froyo 2.2
turned on 720p recording, camera crashed
turned on any other recording format, it worked... so im guessing even if the Operating system allowed it, our hardware didnt...
on Windows Mobile, hell thats a no go for now

I think you are wrong. You forget that you are running a port of and OS. This Android port will never function as native Android phones. Compare the hardware of the HD2 with any of the 720p recording Android phones and you will see that there are no major differences, at least none that can affect recording. But remember that the bitrate of a video shot in 720p resolution is lower than the video of a hand held camera. All we have in the Android port is the work of people working with drivers and tweaking it. As buggy as it was in the beginning, the Android port got a lot better that it can be compared to native Android phones. Patience is a virtue
guys the new htc hd7 with win mobile 7 have the same camera 5 mp and she record on 720p

my theory: technically it's a slr xD
I've been fooling around a bit with the camera and turned up with over 4000 pics taken in the last 3 months. i figured a few things out and will attach a few shots just to proof my theory 'bout the slr^^
edit: [i also realized a clicking noise while taking the shots, similiar to the noise a big slr makes]
and doesn't the dpi (96/128) take effect on HD recording/displaying?
just an idea^^

Yes, I have a Toshiba TG01 WinMO 6.5. Itcomes with the same 1GHz Snapdragon 8520 chipset. We also can't use HD 720p recording The HD7 has the SAME chipset as the HD2 and TG01, so it's definitely not a hardware limitation. I hope with the arrival of WP7 on HD2 will 'unlock' this feature. WE have good news on our TG01 forum. We are going to be expecting the first WP7Beta within the next few days
You can on the HD7.
i though this was an app >.> omg
hey guys!!!!
i just figured out that wp7 on the hd7 runs with more than 600 dpi, winmo 6.5.~ runs with 128 dpi. THAT is why we can't record in 720p!
i hope your not so disappointed afterall, since the hd2 is the first device known to run Mameo, Android, Ubuntu, WinMo an WinPhone. So just wait a few weeks 'til wp7 is ported!
hi quys i have android 2.2 froyo and it is possible qwga resolution, but on 720p it crashes, while recording it is all good, but on playback video is all pink,green...
question> Is continious focus in video mode possible and ported on HD2
Just flashed windows phone 7 on the HD2, I can confirm that 720p recording is real. No issues with recording or playing. It records in .mp4 with 1280x720 resolution. Try it

720p for MIUI 1.11.4 - 2.3.7?

is there anything i can do for this to be functioning in my moto defy, or are they just rumours?
Rumors? Who said that MIUI supports 720p recording?
It doesn`t!....at least for now
miui does support 720p playback, but not recording. I think its due to the fact that they still use the froyo kernel and 720p rec has only been enabled in the gb kernel
So you can record in 720p with the Defy+, isn't it ?
Think it has a GB kernel, no ?
im using the las kernel for defy+ on my defy, miui doesent enable the 720p record decouse an incompatibility lib thing, it just anoying!

choppy 1080p flash video playback on ARHD ICS

Hi guys,
I am currently using Android Revolution HD 6.5.1 XE on my Sensation and I have several major problems:
1. I realize that 1080p mkv videos that my phone can play smoothly on Gingerbread (including Youtube HD 1080p) now become laggy. Even with SD videos (fully HW accelerated), sometimes the playback is choppy as well (I use MX player and Dice player). Can anyone help me confirm whether you have the same problems? I believe ARHD ICS does not have GPU overclocked as on Gingerbread, hence the choppy video playback.
2. On random occasions, I cannot get any sound on any applications, but notification sounds and stock music player are working normally. I can still listen to music through the stock player but cannot get any sound for videos. Everything will return to normal when I restart the phone.
3. Wifi randomly turns on by itself. The last time I check, this problem seems to be unsolved, but I may be wrong.
Any kind souls willing to give me some directions to solve the above problems? ARHD Gingerbread ROM does not have any of the problems above, but I don't want to go back to Gingerbread.
Bump, still waiting...
Imo bad flash, I never had those problems. Video playback even on flash has been buttery-smooth.

And yes talking 1080p video.

Yes, ARHD ICS does not have GPU overclocked. But that shouldn't be the reason for your video playback problem. Because of your other problems I also believe in a bad flash...Try a reinstall.
Bad Flash or using a wrong kernel.
I have tried flashing the ROM 3 times (also redownload the ROM, check md5), with both stock kernel and Sebastian's kernel (at 1.2, 1.5, 1.7 Ghz) and the video playback is still quite bad. I just flash the latest 6.5.2 on my Sensation and it is still the same problem with video playback. Just to confirm, can you guys watch 1080p youtube hd video without any problems?
The playback problem disappear straight away when I go back to GB.
Like I said, yes, I can. In both the app and on Browser with flash player.

Video Choppy
Hey man, in MX player, are you hardware accelerating or software accelerating?
I noticed that HW accl is laggy, buy software accl is smooth

Yes, I am sure that I play my videos with hardware acceleration, and about your observation, I beg to differ. The way I understand it is like this: with hardware acceleration, the task of video playback is offloaded to the GPU, hence better rendering, frame rate and better battery performance. If you use software rendering, the whole task is given to the CPU, which will need to run at full speed to decode, and there is no guarantee that it plays smoothly. For instance, on my Sensation, without hardware acceleration, 1080p videos are impossible to play.
I am still trying every possible solution to my video playback problem. Yesterday I also tried Sebastian's latest kernel, with GPU overclocked, the frame rate is getting better, but it is still not on par with Gingerbread's performance.
Any other suggestions?
I think my description was not clear enough. The correct word for my situation is actually micro-stuttering, it is similar to situations when you are playing computer games with either nVidia SLI or ATI Crossfire.
I officially give up, don't really know how to solve the problem now.
why dont you try flashing another rom?
you keep saying its ARHD fault so flash something else and see?
Even i am facing this problem on my XE. mkv high bit rate videos ( more than 10mbps) are having micro stuttering. Hell even 720p hight bitrate videos. I am coming from galaxy S2 and these high bitrate videos used to play buttery smooth. Cant adreno 220 handle 720p videos? this is shame. i can say 1080p mp4 videos are playing fine though.

I will try other ROMs when I have enough free time, but someone told me that it is the same problem for all ICS ROM on the Sensation.

I just want to clarify with you: there is no problem with video playback on Gingerbread, only on ICS that the problem occurs, so it really ROM-dependent, you may want to give ARHD 4.1.13 a try instead of those latest ICS ROMs. Having said that, it is a known fact that Mali-400 MP has much higher performance than Adreno 220, even in terms of graphics and video playback. I think h.264 high profile videos with higher than 10mbps is too much the Sensation, it is a hardware limitation after all. If you want to watch any videos without problem, the ASUS Transformer Prime is the only choice.
Just for curiosity - why bother playing a 1080p file on a device with a (much) lower native res?

There are two important reasons:
1. There is no need for conversion. I can use the same files for my laptop and my phone.
2. Quality: It is all about the video quality, you just have to see it to believe, it is just like day and night. You can put 2 youtube videos with SD quality (say 480p) and full HD quality (1080p) on your phones (in this case, the Sensation) and compare them side-by-side. Image quality, colors, details are much better on full HD and the differences are obvious, regardless of your phone's native resolution. In a sense, it can be comparable to your laptop situation: should I buy a Blu-ray movie to watch on my 720p screen laptop? If you have watched Blu-ray movies before, you definitely will know the answer.

Understandable, even though cheap storage and batched rips minimalize the effort.

Yeah, because you compare apples and oranges.
Obviously a downscaled 1080p looks better than an upscaled 480p.
Also, the used color space is not bound to the resolution.
And yes, a BR will look better on your 720p screen. Obviously. DVDs are 576 mpeg-2 encoded ^^

I have, and i agree. But one should think trough why, and when it makes sense.
No offense, one should do whatever he wants to do.
I (but that may be me) would rather have a 540 movie with high bitrate than a 1080p with a lousy one, just to say "hey, it's HD"

Did u try stock ICS ROM?

Can the Skyrocket record 60fps video?

Can the Skyrocket record 60fps video? I swear I saw the option before on stock 2.3.5 or 2.3.6. I'm currently running a custom rom (SKY ICS) and cannot find the option. Or maybe I'm thinking of my previous phone.
It should according to specs.
I cant seem to find any phones that record 720p 60fps. The vivid does it but doesn't record audio.

How to: Enable Widescreen photos with Camera???

I absolutely hate 4:3 photos/video. In the camera settings native max resolution is 3264x2448 (tunnel vision). With my S4 I was getting 4128x2322 (widescreen).
How do you enable widescreen photos with the Nexus 5 !?!!?

i'm going to bump this because I have the same question & didn't want to start a new thread. Yes there is a 2MP 16:9 option, but let's be real, that's pointless
I know that in CM roms (and possible other custom roms) have this, but is there a way, via modification of camera apk or other similar method of allowing more widescreen resolutions??
