Hi
I would like to know if anyone has succesfully ported the sense 3.5 locations app to a sense 3.0 rom, since i think it is way better.
I have tried myself to copy htclaputa.apk, htclaputainstaller.apk, htclocationpicker.apk and htclocationservice.apk and setting permissions, but with no luck.

HTC gave me free unlimitted navigation in all of scandinavia, so i thought i might aswell use it. The one for sense 3.0 suck though, so i would like to have the leaked 3.5 version.
Sense 4 ROMs are pretty nifty, but I'm wondering how I can make it so that, when I swipe the lock screen, the home screen doesn't come spinning at me.
I'd prefer it just to appear without spinning. I turned off animations, but that didn't help with this.
Actually, I think stock Sense 3.x might do this, too. I can't remember.

every sense rom does that from 3.0 to 4.0 all sense based phones do that its a built in animation , it cant b removed
try turnin off animations mayb tht wll work , but i m prety sure that it cant b removed

Leedroid Tweaks Doesnt Work ON SENSE 4 , They are For Sense 3.6

You'd have to head on over to the EVO 3D forums and find out; the mod was made on an EVO 3D.
For info, Leedroid will be on Sense 4. But only for the One X, as J4n87 said he wont port Leedroid tweaks to sense 4 on any other devices.

Have any tweaks appeared that will permit me to disable the lockscreen carousel effect on Sense 4?
I really like the various Sense 4 ROMs that are available, but I really *don't* like the spinning carousel when I unlock the screen.
I know that there's a LeeDroid tweak that does this for Sense 3.x. I'm asking about Sense 4.

Thanks for the reply, but the animation option doesn't affect the lockscreen carousel. In fact, animation is the first thing I always turn off, since I prefer a really snappy response to a lot of wiggly effects.

If you are on ordroid I know you can go into the included tweaks app and disable unlock animation under the sense ui tab of the app

im new to the mt4g slide, but i used to own a regular mt4g and there were plenty of fully functional/stable, fast sense 3.5 roms available for it. is there any for the mt4gs? ive looked thru the dev section and found a couple blind ports but not much feedback on them. sense 3.5 is waaaaaay faster/smoother than 3.0, and if i imagine it would be butter smooth on a device like ours with its hardware specs.

As far as the difference for me, Sense 3.5 I feel the biggest difference is Bliss launcher. It just looks a lot cleaner in my opinion.

from what ive read it was made to run on single core phones, therefore running it on dual core makes it that much faster. also the UI is a bit more polished, has a few more widgets, and has the fancy rotation animations. from my experience with the MT4g it was far smoother than 3.0 roms i had tried. so i guess the definition would be its an upgrade from 3.0

i never really dug the bliss launcher. most 3.5 roms have tweaks built in where you can chose between the bliss an stock rosie
This thread is in Development because I mean to share a development idea that I had with the devs here. I don't have the knowledge or skill to work this out myself, so I'm hoping to start a discussion among devs who can do something with it.
Right. At the moment, Sense 2.1/3.0 hybrid ROMs are all using the Sense 3.0 lockscreen - but it's still an old version of that lockscreen, ported in the early days of the HTC Sensation (by seo if I'm correct). Resizing for the lower resolution on the Desire was necessary, and you can see that clearly on the lockscreen - icons and text appear slightly "squashed", and performance is slightly choppy as well.
However, on full Sense 3.5 ROMs ported from the HTC Runnymede, the lockscreen is graphically flawless, and it's lagfree as well, probably largely due to the fact that no resizing is involved. It's just a much better lockscreen than the Sense 3.0 one found in Sense 2.1/3.0 hybrids.
My question/idea is: could this properly sized Sense 3.5 lockscreen be ported from Bliss or Runnymede ROMs to work in Sense 2.1 ROMs?
I'm hoping for this to be a place for devs to discuss and hopefully work out this idea. Mods, if you still think this is in the wrong place, feel free to move.

I suggest Rsk or Seb's ROM

Both of which are based on Runnymede RUUs. Keep in mind that the question is to port the lockscreen from Sense 3.5, not from a single specific Sense 3.5 ROM - so the base will come from HTC, not from any custom ROM developer here.
In other words, this question is pretty much irrelevant.
Bump. I'm hoping at least one of the few developers still left here could look into this.

Ok no probs. I have enough pms for porting and mods, a thread would be a good change
No promises, but ill do my best to have it done this weekend. It's not that I'm anti-sense, but I've always been on my miui builds (for at least 8 of the 11 months I've owned an android phone). Fingers crossed .
Which 2.1+3.0 Rom do you use at the moment? I already have a few 3.5 zips so can get the lockscreen easy enough, just need to know which Rom to use when doing the porting /testing? (and so I can see what you mean about the visual problems.)
Still won't know how big a task it is until I look tomorrow.
His signature says he is using the Alex-V's ROM.
I haven't tried Alex-V 1.8 ROM yet, but i use InsertCoin for years now. I'd love to see it in InsertCoin 1.1.4 as well. I'll stay tuned.

I'm on Alex-V 1.8 for cm7r2 now, the link is in my sig. I don't think there's much of a difference with other 2.1/3.0 ROMs (like InsertCoin), if any difference at all - as far as the lockscreen goes, that is. They all use different implementations of a2sd (standard, data++, ad2sdx, even int2sd), which probably needs looking into.
And take your time. It's already immensely appreciated that you're willing to look into it in the first place.
This looks like a very interesting project. To be honest though, I don't think a hacked up version of the ring lockscreen will go any faster on sense 2.1 roms.
If you check out any pure Sense 3 port you will see that the lockscreen is way smoother than any 2.1/3.0 hybrid or even a 3.5 rom, even with all the resizing.
In my opinion it all comes down to framework changes between sense versions.
But anyway, I guess a good starting point would be a smali by smali compare between an original sense3 htclockscreen.apk and one from the hybrid roms to roughly see what needs changing. Then you could try to apply the same modifications in the 3.5 lockscreen apk.

Possibly, but in any case we'd still lose the graphical imperfections of the old, resized Sense 3.0 lockscreen. In Sense 3.5, the ring is a lot bigger too - it sticks out further from the bottom, making it easier to grab and unlock. Even just graphically, it's better than the current lockscreen.
Also, nobody's ever tried this, so we'd never know if it'll be faster.

Trust me, I know what needs doing
How hard it is to do is the question, porting apks between frameworks is fairly simple unless they are massively different and the apk is hugely dependent on it.
I had miui v4 themes working on evervolv by hand porting the code, and ported apks between frameworks before so have a fair idea what needs doing .

Been trying to get Alex-Vs rom since yesterday, and download is stuck at 98% and has been disconnecting constantly. PITA and I'm tired so hopefully it'll finish tomorrow and I can have a look.

It depends on what you want, really. Sense 5 is a lot faster, but not everything is working. Sense 4+, on the other hand is more stable, and, in my opinion feels more like "Sense". You have themes, fast burst, etc. Also, I preffer the way Sense 4+ works, its much more what I liked about HTC in the first place.
Thats just how I see it, not everybody has to agree with me .

I think almost the same but for me sense 5 its very very very slower man... not ready to update...
but my preference is sense 3.6 its the most stable android for me... but if i need choose ill choose sense 4+
as man up says feels more like sense

I agree with you on Sense 3.6 being the preffered one. I just feel like Sense went away from the original idea too much with 4.x and 5.x.

Completely agree with you. When I first considered buying an HTC, it was because of sense. And the ones I like most would probably be sense 2.x and sense 3.0. That was the ui that really made me buy sensation instead of something else. I was a bit dissapointed with sense 3.6, but it was still pretty much what I wanted sense to be. Sense 4 and 5 just don't "feel HTC" to me. But I would always choose sense 4 rather than 5, I'm just too lazy to revert back to it .
Now just a tiny bit off topic, does anyone know where to find the most recent sense 3.0 RUU? So not 3.6, but 3.0.

I'm using sense 4+ because its more stable than sense 5 but sense 5 is faster, smoother and when everything works perfectly ill flash it again.
