Hi,
I had a Trascend 16Gb card working ok for a year. Then got some random photos taken being corrupted/not shown and Titanium backup unable to backup
I checked card and it seemed faulty on PC. After reformat, same issues when inserted back in phone
I bought a new Sandisk Mobile Ultra microSDHC 16Gb card. And I still get same issues. Photos taken are corrupted. I suspect the phone reader corrupting my photos. Any help please...
Same problem here!

Do you think it is hardware/firmware issue?
All was fine untill I updated to JVH 2.3.3
Nothing solved under JVR 2.3.4
Always using CFroot kernels for root, no other custom roms
Same problem here with Sandisc card. I changed card now for Transcendt and it is fine for 3 days. Will see further on. Sandisc was 8GB class 6, current one is 8GB class 4. I am on 2.3.5 JVT, semaphore 1.8.0. Sandisc worked for me cca. 7 months until problem occurred. Maybe it is connected with firmware, I don't know.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
Maybe not firmware issue, as I got the issue under 2.3.3, 2.3.4 and you got it on 2.3.5
I will try again a full reformat on PC, but could be hardware issue on the sammy declining overtime
Many such issues are reported on google, but no definite answer
It passed the RMA date by just 4 days :-(
I had this issue also under 2.3.3. and 2.3.4. together with 2.3.5. Under 2.2.1. this issue was not present. Maybe to revert again to 2.2.1. just for test?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
Well,
Tried a full flash + hard reset on JVH 2.3.3 + full reformat of external SD through PC
After root with CF-root, I flashed back original kernel to rule out CF-root kernel issues
Still, photos taken with camera and random SD card files get corrupted
Now, reverted back to 2.2.1 JSD which never caused issues. I will see what it gives and feed back
Thanks for update. I am eager to see results after you install 2.2.1. Please, also check which class is your memory card. Maybe speed also matters since I experienced same problem with class 6 and now with class 4 everything is fine (so far).
Thanks.
Thanks for the advice, I will check it
Indeed, I just saw the Sandisk micro SDHC cards were moved from class 6 to class 4 (maybe because of issues?)
I have to check on my phone when back to home
JSD 2.2.1 is running since yesterday, no issues at all, but have to test it for a longer period
The issue in my case is evident with taken photos: they get corrupted and from time to time, even old photos get corrupted (suggesting a data loss on card). Sometimes, a picture gets combined into another ending with a photo having 2 halfs of 2 other photos!!!

Exact the same issue that I had with class 6 card. Please, try to test it longer with 2.2.1. and after that, if you experience same issue with 2.2.1, try with class 4.
Bad news
My card is a Sandisk Ultra Mobile class 4
And now, JSD v2.2.1 is also corrupting taken photos. I ran it for a long time before without issues, till I updated to 2.3.3. So, it doesn't seem to be software issue
By the way, I tested under JSD fresh, no applications installed at all expect rooting via SuperOneClick to avoid custom kernel
Preparing the unit for an RMA :-(
My first with samsung
Oh, I am sorry for such bad news. Good luck with RMA and keep us posted.
Thanks for the feedback also
Will keep you updated
Just giving it till tomorrow: fresh reinstall through last 2.3.3 in Kies this time, no root, nothing installed (for the RMA). But I doubt it will solve anything...
Hope they don't send the unit back unchanged. RMA services often s*ck
Corrupt SD card
Have the same problem...
Same with me. It has been happening since 2.2.1 and 2 different cards. Sometimes it corrupted instantly and sometimes it just won't pull up later.

Many such reports on google/search, no definite answer, but looks like hardware issue on USB internal card port, definitely not software/firmware issue after my tests above
Feedback: Internal SD won't corrupt photos / data
Ok, time for RMA now and will let you know :-(

I've also had this issue with my Sandisk External SD card experiencing corrupted file issues, including camera images. My Win7 PC was also telling me that that card was corruped and needed repair. It did read and write to it however.
I reformatted the external SD with Win7 and files seem to be stable following this. I haven't trusted the extSD enough to start storing my camera images on it again so can't provide feedback on that.
Camera images stored on the built-in internal SD are OK.
Thanks for the follow-up
Well, got my phone back from RMA. Guess what, they just made a hard reset
I inserted my card in the shop, took a corrupted photo and gave it back so they RMA it a 2nd time
Anyway, I was sure they will behave that way, that's why took everything with me and tested before leaving the shop. RMA services s*ck, same with Nokia, Sony-Ericson... I expierienced same situations with them. Nokia I had to send 4 times my N73 before they finally replaced the defective lcd
This time I wrote my self the issue on the coupon and included the external sd with corrupted photos.
I bet you they tell me this time my SD card is defective. However, when I will go to the shop, I will take another external SD with me. If they really say that, I will test the new SD to show the shop they s*ck and will ask for a refund or a new phone from them and let the shop deal with the RMA.
Damn it, I'll be without a phone for another 2-3 ping-pong game with RMA service

I would never have sent my phone to RMA if I didn't already format the card 10 times, test it 10 times and try another SD card...
same here i used data recovery to take my photos back... 16 GB no brand ebay sd

Why people just don't read this thread before jumping to post
It just doesn't have anything to do with the SD, it's the phone that s*cks
The photos are not recoverable, they're broken and file is full with some binary garbage

I just curious if a 64G Micro card would be supported... SOrry if this has been discussed!

It'll support up to 128 GB from what I know. It may not show the extra space but even the SGS2 would work with it.
Yes. I had issues with mines though when it was formatted as exFAT ... seems to work better now after formatting it to FAT32
It will take a 64 GB, but yes it has to be formatted as FAT32. The easiest thing to do is put it new in the phone and format it there under System/ Storage/ Format. You can still read and write to it on a PC (I don't have a Mac so I can't speak for that), but when you have it formatted by the phone itself you know it will work with it.
I believe apple is able to write to fat32.
I am on phone so expect errors

I've got a 64gb card formatted with the original exFat format it came with and it works fine in my SGS3. The only issue is that CWM doesn't see it but I have read the the current version of CWM doesn't see the extSD card no matter how it's formatted.
Cool thanks i think i will pick on of those up then.. thx for all the posts..
S3 reception is great, better than the Razr... I was skeptical but glad it has better radio in it...

The latest versions of CWM and CWM Touch customized for the SGS 3 will see the ex-SD card no matter what the size, as long as it's formatted in FAT32. That's where I keep my nandroids and I can load .zip files from it. CWM doesn't work with exFAT for some reason that someone smarter than I has to explain. (Sorry I can't cite the reference, but I believe it is in one of the rooting forums here)
I think the phone formats the cards in exfat from what I have read.

The problem is exFAT is a proprietary format owned by Microsoft and you need to pay licensing fees to use it.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
The user does not pay to use exFAT, that is paid by the manufacturer of the card. exFAT allows use of greater than 4Gb file sizes. The main disadvantage is that exFAT support must be present in the device trying to access the card. Windows 7, Vista SP1, and XP with SP2 or 3 with update KB955704 support exFAT. See Wikipedia for more detail. Apple OS's also have support for ExFAT.
ExFAT cards can be formatted to FAT32 for better compatibility with many consumer devices such as cameras, etc. If the device's manual shows support for SD cards up to 32 Gb, then assume exFAT won't work. It is also better use a dedicated Flash card formatter, rather than using your operating system's built in format capability. You don't need exFAT support to format a card back to FAT32. You will lose the ability to have 4Gb+ files (HD video?) after formatting.
Some exFAT card have very high read/write speeds above Class 10 using a new standard called "UHS Speed Class". Since this requires new hardware support (faster clock, etc.), few if any devices support it. The Galaxy S3 does not have support for UHS and will not be any faster running these cards. But a card reader with hardware support for UHS would make working with larger cards a pleasure. Transferring 15 Gb of data between two class 10 cards took me 40 minutes. Writing to a UHS card can bring this down to 15 minutes or less.

You must have had a defective RAZR, I have both phones sitting right here and the RAZR gets a 4g connection in numerous places the S3 definitely will not.
We have a corporate account with both RAZR's and S3's on it. I wish I could say the S3 was better in that regard (as that's what I'm using) but it is most definitely not true.
For me the RAZR is better with 3g and the GS3 is better with 4g.
Since mainly 3g still where I live, I wish it were opposite.
I just got my SanDisk 64GB SDXC Class 10 card. I inserted into my phone and it wouldn't mount for some reason. I couldn't even format the card in my phone because it wasn't recognized. The card was formatted in the exFAT file system and I had to format it to FAT32 for the phone to see it. I hear other people just pop in their 64GB cards without a problem. I wonder what their current setup is. I'm running on Synergy 1.2 w/Imoseyon's lean kernel.
Ok so I have a samsung class 10 16Gb micro SD card in my sensation 4g, and as of the last 2 weeks I thought my phone was breaking and needed a new one because the old one kept restarting while trying to use navigation, pictures weren't loading in the gallery, and certain apps would just randomly force quit.
After 2 weeks of dealing with the crap and trying to fix it myself, went and got T-mobile to send me a warranty replacement, and In order to prep for my new device I decided to wipe my card and keep only pictures and music, because it was about 1.52 Gb from being full and I didn't know why the SD Maid app wasn't cleaning out the junk data from previous apps.
In the end with the newly formated memory card my phone works like new, so the warranty replacement is just going to help, because this one had a small screen scratch. Anyone noticing the similar symptoms to the stuff in bold should try to format their memory card, and do a factory reset, it might help
Thanks for the information! This is good to know. I also discovered something with the sd card, I also noticed similar symptoms on a cheap sd card I had got.then I had recently purchased a new one and it was a trusted brand and when I put it I'm my device the symptoms were gone! There is definitely something to this! Bottom line is best to buy a good trusted brand of sd card and not the bargain brand or it could cause trouble!

Thank you SO much, Guy. I've been having those exact same issues to a T. I was getting frustrated with having to find pictures via Astro, not gallery, and last night I got lost because Google Nav kept rebooting my phone. I was ready to huck it out the window. I will try this, and hope it helps!
Hello everyone. I have been having issue after issue with this 64GB MicroSD I got recently. I bought it at a local Best Buy the other day (there was a sale going on; $49). It is a SanDisk 64GB Class 10 MicroSD. I got home and formatted the card. I formatted it in FAT32 with the HP USB Format Tool that I always use for SD cards. Well, the moment I put it in, it said that it was damaged (occasionally said that it was blank). I tried removing it and reinserting it, and the same thing. I have tried putting it in a different GSIII as well as a Droid Razr, and same. I tried reformatting with the same tool, but this time doing a long format. Same problem. I also tried EaseUS Partition Master. Same problem. I have also tried using a live build of Parted-Magic. Same problem.
I am starting to think that the card is a dud, except for two things:
1: It works fine in my PC. It reads the exact amount free, it shows all of my files, and it let's me play them with no issue.
2: It shows up in Clockworkmod just fine. I can back up to it and flash from it with no problem.
I am really just left here scratching my head as to what the problem could be. I made sure that all of the settings are correct each time I formatted it. I have tried switching ROMs and still get the same problem. I have tried just about everything that I can possibly think of to get this card working. I am hoping that someone can help me with my problem.
You can call them and they will send you a new one, I did it about a month ago.
I was having similar problems.

Do you think it is a problem with the card? If so, I am still within my return limit at Best Buy. I can just take it there instead of waiting on a replacement. Just wasn't sure if it was the card or something I was doing.
It's a problem with the card. I had the same problem with a 32Gb card from Sandisk. Files could be seen for a day and then disappear! I could tell the camera app to save to the card and that would also work for a while only. Fo/ders create on the card via the computer would do the same. In one situation I created a folder on the PC, copied a film to it, viewed the film in my phone add took some still from the film. The next day the film and folder was gone put the still -stored on the internal memery- were still there.
Contact sandisk. They must be aware of the issue.

OK. I went to Best Buy and exchanged it the other day (lucky I bought it when I did; they marked it up to $99!). I am still having the same problem. I am not sure what I am doing right. I have been formatting and copying the files while it isn't in my phone. I am using my card reader in my desktop. Could this be the problem? Am I able to format it while it is in the phone without using the phone's format tool?
First you use the tool to format the card to fat32. Once you do that you are to install it to your phone then use the phone to reformat the card again so the phone can use it. Card will have issues with phones when you format it with the tool. Your suppose to format it with the phone as well after for it to properly work. Good luck

Just thought I should post on here and let you all know what my problem was. I got it all sorted out and Play Music is showing all of my music. My problem was that EaseUS defaulted the partition as a "logical" partition. This was leaving about 75MB unformatted, and Android didn't know how to handle that empty space. After changing that to a "primary" partition, I have not had any problems. Serious derp on my part. Lol

Hey guys, would appreciate if someone could give me some help on an issue I'm having with a 32 gig SD card (SanDisk Class 10 bought at Best Buy so it's definitely legit). Anyway it worked great for a long time, however, recently I tried to use the Gremlin Remover on my phone, it crashed and burned in the middle of the process as I've heard can often happen with Gremlin Remover. I did a restart, and after that problems began to appear with my SD card. Almost all the data on it disappeared and it started to constantly mount and dismount from the phone. I thought it might have just been the failed Gremlin Remover run, so I reformatted it in Windows, put Gremlin Remover, black hole system wipe, and my ROM back on and did a complete wipe and restore of the phone, card seemed to be working okay, but then the next day it started dismounting and saying it had been unexpectedly disconnected again. Now I can't get the phone to recognize it at all so I can't connect it to Windows to get it formatted. The strange thing is that my tablet (Asus Transformer TF300) can mount the card and read the data on it. However I can't reformat from the Asus since it won't mount as USB storage in Windows. Is it probable that the card is completely fried? Or does it maybe just need a good reformat? If a reformat would fix it, how would I go about doing it? Is it possible to reformat through terminal commands? Or some other way? Anyway thanks in advance for any help.
I too have a Sandisk class 10 uSD card that just recently failed on me. It started losing files one night, then it stopped mounting. Now it just shows up as a 30-something MB drive that I can't format. I have tried many methods of restoring it to no avail.
Maybe try to format it using external sd card reader? microsd to sd?
I think there's a known issue with these cards. I bought one of these a couple wks ago from a deal posted on slickdeals.
I haven't had any problems with mine but after the purchase I started reading comments in the thread about how these cards are known for mount/dismount trouble and high failure rates. I believe in still under my return period with Amazon so I've been debating exchanging it for a different brand like Samsung. Sorry, I'm at work posting on my phone so I can't post a link.

This has already been tried, without any luck. I tried to format via Disk Utility on Mac OS, numerous drives tools under Windows, and gdisk under Ubuntu, and nothing will revive it. Zed's dead.

I too saw a number of reviews that noted the same type of failure, so I may end up giving another brand (like Samsung, as you suggested) my business. Sandisk does not seem to want to take any responsibility for my uSD card failing after only 8 months of normal use.

Hi, everyone. I got my P30 Lite (MAR-LX1M) 5 days ago, and I'm really loving the device! I do, however, have a bit of a concern that my 64GB SanDisk SD card will be damaged by the device.
Two days ago, I got a SystemUI notification saying "SanDisk memory card unexpectedly removed". I checked my storage, and the SD card was still mounted, so I removed the notification. Today, I got another of those notifications. My SD card worked perfectly in my P10 Lite, and it's just a little over 6 months old.
I'm aware that there were issues with the Mate 20 Lite having SD corruption problems, so I'm really hoping the same isn't happening with my device.
Is this happening to any other P30 Lite users? My software version is 9.0.1.122 (C316E5R1P5).

Thanks, I will definitely give it a shot. Mind telling me which SD card you're using?
I also just got another error, that said my SD card is not compatible, so I needed to format it in the device, even though it was formatted in the device before! It's really the oddest thing!

Alright, so I just wanted to update the thread, since my issue seems to be resolved.
I did a "chkdsk" in Windows, and then formatted the SD card in my device, and it's been 8 days since I've had any errors! Before, I used to get the error after less than a day, so I'm very optimistic
Sent from my MAR-LX1M using Tapatalk
Final update: my optimism was short-lived, unfortunately. The same error happened, and my memory card was permanently corrupted. I also tried a 32GB SanDisk memory card, that worked fine, and I got the "unexpectedly ejected" error again. This is definitely an issue with the phone, and now I'm just not using an SD card in my device, because I honestly can't afford to replace my SD cards like this.
I know that Huawei doesn't seem to know why these issues are occurring, and I will not be taking my device to a service centre, until I know for sure that a definite fix has been found.

I no longer have the device, but just in case someone else has the same issue, which Huawei apps need to be removed?
I had the issue since I started using the device, which was in 2019, so I doubt my issue was related to new Huawei apps.
