Anyone else experiencing their text threads being out of order? For instance, i can send a text that shows that it was sent at the right time, however if someone texts me, the time is a couple of minutes off. Thus, throwing the chronological order off.
If im reading and thinking of ur problem rite it may be the same as mine was. When i first send text sometimes it would fail and wouldnt resend till i reopen text. So it would have wrong time at least i thought it did.

No, my texts don't fail. When I send them, they show the same time as my clock. However, if someone sends me a text, it shows they sent it about a minute or two ahead of my actual time.
I'll try to give an example: 6:45PM- actual times that these text are sent.
Me (6:45PM)- aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Me (6:45PM)- ccccccccccccccccccc
Someone Else (6:46PM)- bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb
See, how it places the incoming texts at 6:46, even though it is really 6:45 still, throws the order off on my reply. It makes it seems like both of my texts were sent before I even received a response.
Very frustrating......
Are you having this problem in the stock messaging app? I noticed it every once in a while, but haven't had the problem yet with Handcent.
If you're using the stock app, try downloading Handcent or ChompSMS or something, and see if it goes away
i have this same issue, its made me switch to handcent because the problem hasnt occured using that. Plus it lets me have vibrate functionality ONLY in the vibrate setting and retain only audio notification in a sound profile

Yeah, I'm using the stock messaging app. I'll try Handcent, apparently a lot of people like it. I'll update ASAP
i'm still using my fuze and i have the same problem. i wonder if it has something to do with the time on att , the other persons phone and/or other carriers servers
Handcent all the way! It corrects the out-of-order issue and is way more customizable, including assigning ringtones for each contact. Just remember to turn off the notifications on the stock messaging app, otherwise you'll receive double notifications on each message received.
Im having the same problem on my Captivate...But my N1 gets it right. Im getting replys before I even send a text...according to the time stamps.
Sorry to report that, although ive only experienced it once, i have seen the same problem with Handcent SMS
All these little issues on this thing are starting to pile up :/

But this is true, at least for me, for every device.

No cuz my iPhone worked just fine...
This problem happens to me if I reply back really quickly... It'll put my text above the one I replied to.

Beauty is there's ways around it (other apps) and we don't have to rely on anyone to fix it.
My wife and I both have Captivates. Her phone has the text messages out of order, while mine does not. Something we noticed is that when we do an auto sync of the date/time, her phone is consistently 4 minutes behind mine. For example, my time will be 6:06, and her phone says 6:02. I believe this is what is causing the text app to "re-arrange" the messages. The text app just looks at the time stamp of the message, and not the actual order of the send/receive process.
I am not sure how to correct this other than manually setting her phone forward by 4 minutes.

This is exactly the problem.
If I get a text at 9:01... And I reply at 9:01... It puts mine as having been sent before the one I received.
just use handcent people.
Yeah, but like I said, Ive reproduced the problem once, even with Handcent. On a side note, does anyone know how or where to get more skins for Handcent?

That does not solve the root problem... Some phones are getting the wrong time from the network when set to auto-config.

tikicult, somone else reported that their phone was off by 4 minutes. Solved it by getting a new SIM Card.
Guess I'm a new user so I can't post a link to the forum thread, but here is the url:

I've been having this problem as well.
I went to the AT&T store today to try and get a new SIM, as per one of the suggestions in this thread. Problem still occurred. Tried it on a fresh straight out of the box Captivate. Problem still occurred. Sales guy threw his SIM from his iPhone in a demo Captivate. Problem still occurred on both Captivates.
Later I tried adjusting the time manually up by a minute or 2. Problem still occurred after a text with a response approx. 20-30 seconds later. Still showed the text coming in at 1:23, and my response which was 30 seconds later as being sent at 1:22.
Seems like a Samsung software issue.
I was wondering if anyone has this happening to them.
For the past 2 months I have been receiving unusual text messages whenever I go into my contact list. They come in pairs. First one says it's from 900-080-001087 second one is from 900-080-001089. Both messages contain the following text:
"//MIM:android:25110SY 52 Please Log in again."
The only difference is the "25110SY 52" portion (the "25" and "52" portions are different between the threads). And if you look at each of the messages' threads, the "25" portion increases sequentially with each message.
I went to the "accounts" section in the phone's settings but everything shows that I am still logged in with no problems or errors.
Could this have anything to do with Google's new 2-step increased security measures? I have been using them since they first came out. If so, how can I stop this from happening?

oh yeah... I forgot... I have also been receiving blank text messages from "Unknown" user for the same amount of time as the other weird messages. . Could this be related to those others? And yes... I did not install any new apps before this started happening. So I am at a loss as to finding a solution to this very annoying problem. Any ideas?

Its Morpheus. The Matrix has you. You have until the 25th to find your way into the heart of 52nd Street. There you will follow the white rabbit....
It's the FBI. Unfortunately, #****FBIFriday was yesterday, so you'll have to wait another week.

Never experienced this, but I was receiving messages from "Oz mail" whatever that is. They were really long, and they wanted me to reply to them. But by replying it would charge you for an international text.
It sounds like the messages i got when my backup assistant wasn't setup right.
You might want to check out those settings.
I have a glitch in my SMS inbox.
Example. Person A sends message to Person B, C, and me.
When I click on the notification for Person A's new message, it opens the message window of all past messages between ONLY Person A and myself. In order to open the message, I have to scroll through my inbox, to find the proper thread that has Person A, Person B, Person C, and myself.
This is a HUGe PITA, and I have to remember to ALWAYS check if i'm responding to a new message or an old one (easy to respond directly from the already opened OLD message directly from Person A).
Can I fix this?
Short answer to your question is no. You can't fix it. At least, there's no fix available right now that I know of. That's the way it works. Mine does the same and, apparently, it does the same for others too. There's several threads about it already. Haven't seen a way to change it.

Mine is working the same.
That's how the stock messaging app is for everyone
Hi, i have found a file called smartcall on my phone. When you click on it it goes to my Microsoft word documents. I've noticed over the last three or four weeks I've had notifications by e-mail that someone has tryed to get into my Microsoft account. I have no idea how it got on my phone or what its for?? A really strange thing happened to me on the 12th.Jan. Two friends of mine plus my dad were sent text messages of some photos of me that were taken from my CM security which takes snapshots of people trying to get into your phone/tablet etc. Well sometimes I put the code in wrong more than three times and takes a pic of me. Someone has managed to get hold of those pictures and sent them via text. Also there were a couple of map references showing where i live saying I need help!! Can anyone please tell me what's going on here. I have explained to my phone providers that it wasn't me who sent the texts. Even though it showed my mb number it wasn't me as my phone was completely broken. It's all very bizarre and scary.
First off, I'd like to thank whoever takes the time to read and put any thought into this. Next, the reason I absolutely do not want to do anything that is going to erase/lose my SMS history; I'm an auto mechanic, and there is far too much various information on customers' vehicles, repair history and such...losing it all would be a huge setback. If I have to do something like a factory reset, I'm going to have to spend too many hours to even think about, manually going through 4 years of text messages to record everything. I tried a couple of options to backup said history, and nothing came up with even 100 messages to backup.
On to the problem... When SMS is received from person A, it shows up in a random, different person's(person B) thread. I then need to check the contact info to the left of the message to see who person A is, then back out, go to to person A's thread and respond there. If I respond in the thread that it's delivered to, person B gets the response. Any messages in the thread prior to this starting shows the proper contact, person B. Looking at message details, it shows the correct # in the 'From' section, but for 'To', it shows my number and the number for person B as if it was sent as a group text. This however is not the case...the message only comes to me.
I have tried deleting and reentering contacts, doing the same while the involved threads are archived, visaversa...and I haven't found any solutions. I'm very hesitant to even do a simple restart, as a couple of instances like mine that I've read, all SMS history vanished after rebooting. Any thoughts, ideas, or help of any kind would be amazing...and once again, thanks for taking the time.
Edit:The phone in question is a Moto G7 Optimo Maxx(XT1955DL) running stock Android 9, in case this info helps/makes a difference.
