[Q] Charger High Pitch Sound - HTC Sensation

Hi. I just bought my Sensation from Amazon UK and I plugged it in to charge with the stock charger.
After a while a high pitch sound was coming from the charger. Is a very annoying sound. I thought there is a problem with the charger and I tried to charge my Xperia X10 with that charger but with Xperia X10 I do not hear the sound.
Then I charged Sensation with Xperia X10 stock charger and I hear again that sound but much less than the HTC stock charger (I have to put my ear near the Xperia charger to hear it).
With the HTC Stock charger the noise stops when I switch on the screen. When the screen switches off again that noise begins.
Anyone knows why? Is this normal with new smartphones? Maybe they charge faster and they require more current?

Hmmm...
I get that with my 3rd party iPod charger too... not too sure of the reason...

[Q] High pitch noise with desktop dock.

Hi everyone.
I have had the original HTC Desktop dock for over two months now. Though i have noticed it makes a high pitch noise when i take the phone out of the dock. Has anyone else noticed this. I may have to get a replacement.
Oh, you may need to be under 25 to hear it becuse it is a very high pitch noise.
Thanks
I've got that from my wall charger. I can hear it at 32 years of age, and I can't hear those stupid ringtones, so it's not too high pitched.
i get that sound from the nexus wall charger, not from the dock....very irritating since it's right next to my ear when sleeping...
but i think it's normal, many other devices make that sound, like my previous nokia wall charger, the other nexus wall charger, and the previous motorola milestone wall charger did
yeah, I get the squeal from the wall charger if it's not connected to the phone. once you plug the phone in, the sound goes away. seems like a cheapo transformer.
its made by every transformer in this universe, nothing like cheapo or expensive there. Some are universal laws
I can confirm its the charger. Though only one of my nexus one chagers does thisthis

[Q] 3rd party charger - wierdness

I bought one of these because of the convenience of the 2 usb charging ports
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Masterplug-SRGDU42PW-Charging-Protected-Extension/dp/B007TQNUH8
As soon as I plugged it into my Sensation the touch screen became unresponsive often registering touches from menus no where near my fingers.
Once I had swapped between the HTC charger and this it was clearly a problem on the 3rd party product (which I believed to be a good quality one).
Before I bought this I made sure of the 5v - 1A rating which is what the HTC adapter provides so I'm really puzzled why I don't get this problem when plugged into a pc, a cheap car charger (1A) or my HTC supplied adaptor (1A) and an Anker charger with usb port (600ma), yet this supposed USB port is sending my HTC touch screen haywire.
Can anyone shed any light on this? Needless to say I won't dare use this for the HTC and I'm loath to plug my other intended device (an Asus tablet) into it. I'm a little worried about damaging it but if it's a USB port it should be a simple standard ... shouldn't it?
Same... I have 3rd party charger too for my old Mobile..
Output of that China charger is written same as on HTC charger
When I try to charge my sensation with this charger , entire screen gets unresponsive
My old chaina mobile charge fine with that charger

That's interesting, thanks for the input. I wonder if this is something to do with over-voltage or poor regulation in general. The Masterplug is supposed to be a good make which is why I opted for this rather than the ebay offerings from China.
I have some weird experience before too with 3rd party charger, my xe auto redial the last contact i called out, it call and hangup by itself continuously until i remove the charger, i put back the charger and it did the same again... then charger in bin
Sounds like a grounding issue or voltage regulation perhaps.
It's not worth getting a cheapo charger.
I got an original HTC one with cable for £8.

Understood, however, the product isn't what I'd call a cheapo like the chinese ebay offerings. Masterplug I believe do a range of high quality surge protectors and sockets for all applications so I thought it would be a reasonably safe bet. I already have the HTC charger but this was a convenient way to do away with all that bulk and have a couple of convenient charging sockets.
I'd love to know though what is actually causing this kind of reaction on the phone .. curiosity now more than anything.

[Q] Using 1A High Current Charger for Xperia Ray/X8/Mini

Helloy everyone, I know that this question is very familiar. However the problem is, I'm using the 3 old devices from 2011, which are Xperia Ray, Mini Pro and W8
As I've read, people only said that new devices that use 1A output charger can be charged with 2A one, as the charger can automatically adjusts the adequate output regarding the phone's. But how about my old devices, do they have this automatic adjustment function?. I'm currently using a 1A output HTC Sensation 4G (pyramid) charger and it still charge the phone as usual, but tend to be very hot in return (way hotter than charging my HTC Sensation 4G, but it still haven't explode!!!). (and just in case, the Xperia Ray/X8/Mini Pro all are charged with the EP800 850mA output)
So just to make sure, somebody please clarify this problem for me. And in long term, should this charging method harm my battery or not?.
*My living place is a little bit inconvenient to buy a proper charger, but if there could be any danger to my phone, I will immediately buy a new EP800.
Please help me, thank you.
If I understand correctly, you will warm up because you're using a high amperage, it is normal. The charger should be calibrated for the type of battery that mounts the phone, use other could damage the battery.
I am using my Lenovo K920's 2A charger together with its cable to charge all my devicess - Xperia X8, HTC Legend, W.4G S860t, Jabra Talk.
A860t is relatively new and has no issues.
X8 is fine, no overheating, fully charging (the battery is still "like new" despite the >5 years intensive use. NOTE: I have been having a lot of problems for the 1st year with the original SE charger and cable, not being able to charge the phone; also it didn't want to charge at all with a 1A charger and any cable).
Legend has an issue having much longer charging, but it is likely to be the battery dying (>5 years of intensive use).
Jabra Talk has no issues.

[Q] New Nexus 5 making buzzing sound whilst charging?

Hey there,
I've owned three nexus 5's and I just bought a 4th and I notice that the back makes a slight buzzing sound when charging. I know the LG wall chargers make a sound but this is coming from the device itself. Only happens when charging and the phone keeps a good charge so I don't thinks it's a faulty battery.
Sounds like it's coming from the middle to top part of the rear, where the battery connects to the logic board. Could it be a faulty battery, just a transformer or something more serious?
Also I left it charging for 7 hours overnight, no issues.
Thanks in advance
Anyone?
For me it has no noise while charging, but the charger gets very very hot. Pay attention to your device while charging, check if the device or the charger temperature is higher than it was supposed to. For me the charger might get to 70ºC, it almost burns my hand sometimes mainly if charging 2 devices at once.
Have you tried plugging in a headphone to it and see if the noise goes with the audio?

The charger is fine and the buzzing/humming sound isn't coming out of the speaker, it's coming from the rear of the phone itself. Temperatures for phone and charger are normal.

Do you hear noise from the Huawei Mate 9 charger when it is NOT charging?

I got the phone for awhile,
the phone itself is running very well.
but i have another concern,
i start to hear the super charger when it is idle (not charging but plugged into the wall)
when it is charging, it is completely silence.
Do you also hear the noise from the charger too?
Can't say I have noticed that. But I always turn chargers off when not in use. It's safer.
I sit close to one at night, in total silence, and I can't say I've ever heard any noise coming from it.

Yeah, I heard it too. I have two chargers and both do the noise.
What kind of a noise? Like a humming sound? Electrical buzzing?

Better call them Ghost Buster folks.
On a more serious note, never experienced anything like it. Turn off your charger when you're not using. Better charger life longevity.
This has been a thing with LG chargers for years. For some reason they just hum or buzz.
I wouldn't worry about longevity tbh. Any good quality charger will largely outlast the device it hooks to. Heck my 1995 Motorola Flare charger still works.
If the buzzing gets on your nerves you can always get one of those cheap socket adapters with an on/off switch (see attached).

I used to get that on my old Samsung chargers. Never heard anything with my mate 9 charger tho. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you.
Thank you for the input for using a switch to turn it off when not using...
but the most important point is, i have a friend who also own a Mate 9, his charger is dead silence when charging or idle.
The sound is more or less like buzz (but very little sound)

I can confirm your charger noises. Wired thing. Better unplug the charger, because noise means it is burning up energy!
Not to be dumb but is it your outlet? Have you tried a different one? Mine is completely silent

Notice this as well one night while reading on the phone in bed. Mine does it with or without charging. I've also experienced this with a Sony adapter, and Samsung. I have a few devices plugged into a 8 prong switched grounded outlet... I just flip the switch off in the morning and this this actually lasts until bedtime??

Phone chargers are step-down switching power supplies.
They are called switching power supplies, because electrical current flowing into coils or capacitors is always switched on and off to get a desired amount of electrical energy saved inside this energy storages to get lower voltage than the power line. They are verry efficient and much smaller than conventional ones.
Because of the current switching the plates of the capacitor or the windings of the coil can vibrate and cause this sounds.
It depends on the components if there is a sound or not and can vary from batch to batch.
So no worry if the supply creates silent noise, its working fully, only different components are used! (as long as it is no super cheap china power supply, they could be very dangerous)
And i think the power supply lives as long as the phone. Computer or TV power supplys are always plugged in too and they have the same technology.
But i always unplug the power supply to save enegy
