Tweaks by romanbb partially working
for InsertCoin3.3.x
Currently running on the latest InsertCoin 3.3.x series
..and probably all IC-Sense3.5-based builds
(Also reported as working on ARHD 4.1.4)
Disclaimer
This is not a port or a mod even, its just something from one ROM that partially works on InsertCoin rom. Use at your own risk. The most important thing you can do is to backup your stuff to avoid anything happening that you cannot fix, etc, just sharing something useful
Description
This mod was discovered by ronaldramsayii who provided me with the two files (Settings.apk & Tweaks.apk) that made this possible. This is a partially working version of the RCMix Tweaks app the gives InsertCoin3.3.x users the ability to use some of these functions without error.
How to install
*You will need Root Explorer or ADB
1. Download this zip file (mirror atached) and extract files to SD card.
---The zip contains the needed Settings.apk & Tweaks.apk files and is NOT CWM flash able.
2. Place both these apk files in /system/app (using Root Explorer or ADB)
---I advise backing up/renaming your original Settings.apk just in case.
3. Set the Permissions on these to rw-r--r-- (or for ADB chmod 644)
---If you do not set permissions correctly, you will boot loop
---Screenshot of correct permissions via post #14
4. Reboot.
After Install
**After applying the Tweaks that you need, you can replace the Settings.apk with the original (and reboot!). This will remove the Tweaks from your settings menu, however, it will keep the mods you've already made. The Tweaks.apk must be removed though root explorer or ADB, otherwise, it will remain installed, you will have no "GUI" to access its options.
***When you have rebooted, you wil notice that in your setting menu, there is now an Tweaks option (screenshot attached). ronaldramsayii reported in his original post that some options did render force closing. What I have got to work is as follows:
What Works?
(confirmed working, but did not test beyond these)
Clock Options:
Clock Style
AM PM Style
Choose Clock Color
Battery Options
Show battery icon
Battery text style
Choose battery color
Signal Options
Signal text style
Swap 2G Icon
Swap 4G Icon
Quick Settings
Select Settings to hide
Lockscreen Settings
Volume keys wake phone *does work, but by default is checked and will not let you toggle off*
Sense Options
Quick-quick settings
Kill Rosie!

Thanks to romanbb for creating the Tweaks app for the Bliss ROMs, to ronaldramsayii for his help with discovering this and providing the files that made this possible, to Behold_this for discovering Quick Settings also works.
EDIT: See post #3 for mirror link/attachment for Tweak files.
They wont work, it needs to be ported and the build ur using modified. Stick with the build u want, tweaks isnt easy to port and cant just be dropped into /system. Every app that tweaks has options for is modified.

That's exactly why I wanted to get this working was for the clock mod. It works great, i posted a couple screenshots in post 3 that should show what i did. But you can change the color as well, I left it white for now, but i also centered it and the AM/PM options all work too. No force closes, even when using Root Explorer to copy/paste the Settings.apk over to the system folder. All it needs is a normal reboot and it's good to go!
Enjoy
Add.quick settings you the working list.
don't be surprised when strange things start to happen.
as @zimphishmonger correctly points out there is reliance on various bits and pieces in files within the roms. when you change one thing it may have a flow on effect to something else (ever flashed a new battery icon and lost crt animation?)

Just to be clear to anyone reading the above, this is a thank you for testing NOT fixing or building the mod. Credit goes to romanbb this is his tweaks app! From bulletproof not from rcmix.

I dunno... maybe ask @gripstone who has a bootloop
Playing is fun but folks just need to understand that they could end up messed up that's all.
You know, everyone just needs to take some ownership and responsibility for their own stuff. if he's bootlooping then perhaps the install or download are bad. Either way if someone does anything like this and doesn't first make a back up, they frankly deserve what they get. Not my problem some people get themselves in over their heads!
Since I forgot to originally include the step to set permissions for the system files, he probably never set the permissions, which will cause the loop because the settings isn't readable to the system. My girls Sensation did that and a simple ADB chmod 644 fixed the issue.
I also advise using root explorer to not only set the correct permissions, but also:
Long-press the Settings and Tweaks APK and choose "Change ownership" and set value to "0.- root" which will reasign these files as root files (which they should be)
it works fine on Android Revolution HD 4.1.4!

Hrmm everything but the D2 Lock screen worked for me.
yes sorry!! will update first post! you will need to remove the HtcLockScreen.apk file from the /system/app folder for d2 lock to work!

as long as u have S-OFF absolutely
Instead of the first step 8 (lol) I recommend
/system/bin/mv HtcLockScreen.apk HtcLockScreen.apk.bak
Then if you want it back you can do it in reverse. Also make sure to get a different alarm clock if you use the stock one otherwise you can't shut it off without restarting the phone.

has anyone figured out how to keep the alarm working without having to dl another one?
i know this isnt really the right place, but is there a way i can get just the transparent notifications bar in a flashable .zip? i already got smooth sense, classic circle battery mod w/ percentages, and gps icon gone. i just wanna get the transparent part, but dont wanna have to apply a whole theme for it. im on the desensitized (so still sorta sense) aiccucs v4.2 rom

Dont think that its possible... the current clock on device was designed by HTC to go over the HTC lock screen. you will need the deskclock for the vanilla lock screen

you will need to do 2 things to your framework, first change the images for the background of the notification bar as well as update the jar file.
see this topic HERE
update 2: now has vibrate image on slider
I'm still not too clear... I already have Sense and custom icons, I'd like to replace the Lock-n-Clock, but I don't want the notification bar or smooth icons.
Can someone shed some light on if this is possible and which steps it takes WITH sense?
TIA!

nice work! thanks for contributing!
This worked great for me. Thanks for all the work. BTW, I'm s-off using the deodexed 8/26/10 leak with bloatware removed. Also, I've tested the clock and it works fine for me. I use the stock app and don't back out to the lock-screen(just use the dimmed app setting). Works great so far.
Update: Desk clock didn't last through the night so I guess I was wrong, wrong, wrong. Oh well, everything else is awesome.
This is the first ROM I want to share. It is based on the online kitchen from MoDaCo. I used the latest version, r8. It includes 'Link2SD' by bakpinar.
I removed most of the wallpapers, and some of the applications. The most important changes:
Gallery replaced with the 32bit Gallery3D Mod - thanks to SilentMobius
Notion Ink keyboard - thanks to gojimi at XDA developers with my own graphic mod
ZEAM launcher as default - thanks to cloakt at XDA developers.
iWnnIME - Japanese keyboard (stripped from a Softbank Japan HTC Desire by myself)
Titanium Backup - thanks to Joël Bourquard - Market link.
No ads host file - thanks to dnlgee
DOS like bootanimation - thanks to original_ganjaman from XDA developers
I know the ZEAM launcher is no longer under development. But for me it runs smooth and fast. I run it on my tablet with 8 columns and 7 rows on 5 screens and still the scrolling is very fast and nearly without any lag. If you don't like it, you can of course replace it with any other launcher of your choice.
For the installation you have 3 options:
For all options first download the ZIP file from here, extract it to a directory on your PC/MAC/Linux machine.
Option 1 is for flashing the file with an USB cable:
Ensure you have USB debugging enabled on your device (enabled in Settings->Applications->Development)
If you are using Windows, your USB 'Android Developer Bridge' driver MUST be the one included in this download (use 'Have Disk' functionality in device manager to change if required)
Connect your device to your PC
At a command prompt / terminal, ensure you are in the directory you extracted the files, and run 'install-windows.bat', './install-linux.sh' or './install-mac.sh' as appropriate
Wait for your device to reboot!
Option 2 is for flashing through wireless ADB (only Windows):
Setup your WiFi ADB that it works through port 5555. Start your WiFi ADB app on your tablet. I prefer ADB over WIFI Widget, but there are other apps available.
Write down the IP address the WiFi ADB gives you.
Edit "install-windows-wifi.bat" (in the directory you extracted the files) and change line 13 => adb-windows.exe connect 192.168.1.15. Put the IP address of your tablet (from the WiFi ADB) instead of "192.168.1.15"
Ensure you have USB debugging enabled on your device (enabled in Settings->Applications->Development)
If you are using Windows, your USB 'Android Developer Bridge' driver MUST be the one included in this download (use 'Have Disk' functionality in device manager to change if required)
At a command prompt / terminal, ensure you are in the directory you extracted the files, and run 'install-windows-wifi.bat'
Wait for your device to reboot!
Option 3 is for flashing through ClockWorkRecovery.
Rename the downloaded file to "update.zip" and copy it to the root of your SD card
Restart your device in recovery mode
PERFORM A NANDROID BACKUP FROM THE MENU
Select the option to apply an update zip, and select the zip file you copied to your memory card
After successful flashing reboot your device
If you get problems with the USB drivers or have other difficulties, check "Advent Vega - ROMs / Software Updates / Guides / How Tos, Links to ROMs, Flash Updates, Guides, Misc apk's" on MoDaCo. There you find help for nearly every possible problem.
And as usual, I take no responsibility if you brick your device, delete all important data on your SD-card or get divorced because you spent more time with your Android tablet than with your wife. You do all this on your own risk!
And here are some screenshots:
The wallpaper you see here is the default wallpaper. I deleted all other wallpapers and there are no live wallpapers in the ROM anymore.

Oh, I forgot another small graphic change:
I changed the icons for home, menu and back in the notification bar a little bit. I didnt like the red color in the icons and changed it to green.
Portrait view:
The wallpaper is perfect dimensioned to match landscape and portrait modes. Thanks a lot to thedicemaster on MoDaCo for the tips how to achieve it.
And of course after you install the ROM, all pages are as empty as this one. The widgets you see on the other screenshots are all installed from the market.
And for the people who went thru the whole post, but didn't see the download link.

Hi there.
Which rom have you flashed this too. As far as i am aware it changes the framework back to the one in v1.08. So if flashed to v1.09 you may gain the small taskbar but as far as i am aware you will lose the full screen notifications. So you end up with a bit of a mutant rom, parts from v1.08 and v1.09.
Good to see my bootscreen is being enjoyed

As Paul's kitchen is based on 1.08 (the kitchen had its last update before the release of 1.09) my ROM is on the 1.08 framework. And it doesn't have the full screen notifications, you are right with this.
Your bootanimation is really nice, I just changed the ROM version on the first 30 pictures And in my personal ROM I show instead of the ROM version the owner info, just in case I loose my tablet somewhere
OK. I did make it very clear i did not want my work edited and posted in a thread other than the one i posted it in. I ask nothing for my work apart from this rule.
As long as you have left the "BOOT by original_ganjaman" i am happy. If not then please remove it.
Might be worth putting a warning to people about it being based on v1.08.
Good to see more people developing are vegas, keep up the good work

I changed the bootanimation.
I do not think that there is a problem with v1.08 as I my download is not an add-on, but a full ROM. You flash it and v1.08 is gone. There will be no mix between mine (MoDaCo's actually) and v1.08
Thats fine mate. I did not know pauls new release was a full rom. i thought it just effectively adb pushed the files over, leaving some previous rom files behind. Might still be nice to warn people it is v1.08 based.
Keep up the good work

Guys! Vote for cm9 support! http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/55977-samsung-galaxy-ace-2-cm9-poll/
since I don't have knowledge in modifying kernels, can anyone add more frequencies to stock kernel and oc frequencies as well?
There are some OC kernels in thread about Ace 2 rooting. I think page 4 or 5. But there are also some doubts about real effects of OC.
anyone knows how to change bootanimation on this phone?
I bought a usb jig and it works... When you plug it in, the phone enters download mode.
What do you mean by works? Does it reset a counter of custom kernel/ rom? Is this a way to have valid warranty?

The jig was originally meant for forcing the phone into download mode. In SGSII, the counter did reset too. Only in SGSII...

Please remove the brackets. This is the stock rom, I already re-flashed my fon w/ this, because I deleted too many things ^^.
Now I have to wait 5 minutes to save the edit of my post. This is somewhat stupid, isn't it?

can you please get me system folder of your rom
here are steps how to
1. download any terminal emulator from market.
2. open emulator and type the command with proper spacing as given below
tar -c system/* >> sdcard/system.tar
This will copy all your /system folder to your SDcard with name System.tar

Hi Kyrillos,
I've installed your files . Now I have the following problem:
" the process com.android.systemui has been stopped, please try again "
but no chance to start it again. So, I don't have the status bar.
Any ideas ?
Best regards

What Is It?
Aroma App Package Creator is an application for those who flash new rom's often and want an easy way to create a flashable zip to reinstall apps. This utilizes Aroma Installer for more customization, allowing you to choose which apps to be installed instead of installing all of them. I made this tool for myself after seeing strawmetal's Flashaholic Essential Packs and wanted a way to produce the same results without editing multiple config files for each "pack" I make. I hope everyone else will find it useful as well
How To Use: Click Steps For Screenshot
1) Download the aroma-app-package-creator.jnlp file and run by double clicking it
You must have Java 6 or higher for the application
You will have to accept a security warning. This is normal for all applications using Java Web Start
2) Click the + button under the Group Names list to create a new group
3) Add an app to a group by selecting the desired group, then click the + under the Apps list
5) Flash your zip like any other in recovery

Q&A
Q: How will updates be distributed?
A: Every time you run Aroma App Package Creator it checks the server for an update. If there is a new version it will be downloaded automatically.
Q: Everything seems to work, but when I reboot none of the apps have been installed. What's going on?
A: Try downloading a zip that utilizes Aroma Installer for your device (such as a rom or theme) and pull the update-binary-installer from it and put it into the zip created with the Aroma App Package Creator.
Q: The above didn't work...Now What?
A: Sign the zip and try again. You can find information on how to do so on google, or use this application: http://www.xda-developers.com/android/tool-to-auto-sign-multiple-apks-and-zips/
Please post any bugs/errors so they can be fixed
I will test, today.
RB v2.3 selfmodded - 100% Supercharged!
testing tomorrow!thanks!
looks good ..i will test it now
This is sick. I love it, works great on gs3.
After selecting the apps .the apps dont install
simply it says installing Apps but none of the apps get installed.
Help me out
Nice tool... :good:
Some feature suggestion:
Select Theme
Checkbox to delete dalvic + cache (not all app require this)
Okay, so this is giving me a flashable zip that installs apps at /data/app. What about /system?
And files other than apk files will be awesome.
Thanks for your good work.
This looks very cool
Will it work on a rooted phone with stock recovery (In my case SGS2) or just CWM?

Crappy resolution, but here's how it works on an S3
For the S3 you need to use the "Yes/alternate" method for the touch calibration... also the colors are totally off but it's still readable and usable. Just has a blue tint to it lol.
Or just use my values:
Code:
119490.00, 2030.00, -619140.00, -840.00, 116060.00, 228210.00, 117939.75, 20
This is on the Rogers I747M S3. (Should be the same for AT&T).
Just wondering... The calibration makes the zip flashable only for the model being calibrated, right?

That's right. It's so the touch screen coordinates line up etc.
I kinda wish there was an option for text based only where it would just install all the APKs that you put in the zip. I don't need the fancy UI, I just want to flash the zip, have them installed and done.

Thanks Man ,I Used Strawmetal's Flashaholic Essential Packs and It Took a lot of Time (about 100 apps) so this will save time as hell
Much Respect
PS : for guys having trouble with Calibration ,you can use Volume up\down and Select in CWR and Aroma instead of touch ,Works for me ,Xperia Mini Pro SK17i
