Hey there. I'm trying to root my Lg Shine Plus (no, it's not an LG Ally. That's a different phone. Yes, I know they look the same. No, they're not the same phone.)
I've got the Android 2.3.3 update, and that worked (after a few speed bumps). Now I'm trying to root it, but no luck so far. I've tried Universal Androot, Super OneClick, and z4root. None of those worked. You guys know of anything that can root the LG Shine Plus after the 2.3.3 update?

I have not seen any recent posts about this. Is it possible to root 2.2.2, and if so can someone please give me a link to download the correct application to do so. Thank you.
I heard you had to downgrade to 2.2 to root lg optimuses so I would assume for the vortex too. I have a lg optimus t, but it's the same family so Im guessing Z4Root works so use that.
GingerBreak 1.20 works like a charm on the LG Vortex running the latest 2.2.2 update.
You can get it here...

lg vortex 2.2.2
Hello everyone i was wondering if before i try this root does anyone know if it currently still works for the Lg vortex 2.2.2 version? it is my first time trying to do so and do not want to mess it up. if it doesn't does anyone know anywhere else i can look? thanks!
I have tried to use gingerbreak a few times tonight on my wifes vortex but its not working.
rooting Vortex 2.2.2
I've used SuperOneClick to root my Vortex. Make sure to use version 2.3.3.0, the prior version wouldn't root (though the previous one did).
If there's a problem connecting to the phone; try turning the USB Debugging off and then back on. It works for me.

i don't think so ask the developer
Hi, my LG-C555 is unlocked & rooted and currently runs Android 2.2. I wanted/needed to change the internal firmware so I tried Gingerbreak (1.0, 1.1 and 1.2) but none of them seems to work.
I was able of pushing gingerbreak.apk (version 0, 1 and 2) to the /data/app folder with the USB debugging mode ON and I also have inserted a formated/mounted SD card in the phone.
Then I installed it normally, the installation started but never ended, it stayed in an infinite loop (more than 1 hour)... I had to reboot.
How did you manage to install it properly on yours?
Thank you for your time,
highmighty
Hi all,
The Gingerbreak installation starts on my rooted-network-unlocked LG-C550 but it never ends, it stays in an infinite loop (more than 1 hour)... it finally needed a reboot and unfortunately nothing has changed with the firmware version, it's still Android version 2.2, what could be the problem?
Also, could someone tell me how can I force a flash of the same default "firmware" into it?
I suspect a problem with the installed firmware so that's why I wanted to try Gingerbreak to see if my problem would go away...
Your help is much appreciated!
Regards,
highmighty

It looks like the exploit, which Gingerbreak uses is fixed, you can try to use the Stock-ROM of your phone. There are many other ways out there to root phones. I got my Huawei Boulder rooted with superoneclick, maybe that will do it for you too. If you find a solution please post it here for others.
Best regards

SuperOneClick worked great. Thanks for the advice. I sucessfully rooted an LG C555 from Koodo.
Hi, just a question here. My sister gave me a C550 or C555.
Does the root unlock simlock at the same time, like others devices, or not?
I purchased this phone yesterday as a replacement for my motorola milestone (the very first droid) that has been giving me headaches recently. In general, Viewpad 4 is a pretty nice phone; the hardware spec is good and the price is relatively low.
However, I'm trying to root this darn phone but none of methods I tried work. The phone is running Android 2.2.2 (yea.. not 2.3/2.4) and after reading some posts on the forum, that google patched up some loop hole after version 2.2.1?
I've tried SuperOneClick, Z4 Root, and Universal Androot 1.6.2-beta 5, but so far none of them works. Is there any other possible way that I can root this phone? thanks in advance!
i have used z4root in a 2.2.2 version and it worked.
did the permanent root, after a few secs, the device restarted and it was rooted.
it's a nice phone. very fast and nice touch screen.
thanks for the reply nexosilva. i've also tried z4root but not getting any luck. the app FC after i click the root button, frustrating. =\
z4root? which version?can i know it?
I also trying to root Viewpad 4, but it was not completely root? so help me please.
Thank you.

While I patiently await CM7 for the Triumph, can anyone tell me how to get this thing rooted? I've owned a G1, Eris, and Optimus V. Each one had a different process. How can I do it on this one?

There is an app you install called GingerBreak. It is found in the same forum you posted this question in, just look for it, I believe it is right under this thread, actually. It is a simple 1-Click root method.
Hope I helped. If I did, could you help a brother out by clicking the thanks button? It's all I got
Here is a link to the aforementioned GingerBreak: http://www.4shared.com/file/kJ-skGa5/Gingerbread_15.html
After rooting, go to the market and install superuser.
Damn, I thought that was for a custom ROM. Thank you! I'll give proper thanks when I get to my Chromebook.
Well, that was quick. All rooted now. However, you linked something that only put on wallpapers. I had to go find 1.2 of GingerBreak.
Hello, i've tried Gingerbreak, Z4, Universal Androot and SuperOneClick Server is down.
Does anyone know of any other methods to root an android??
-edit-

Besides Gingerbreak 1.2 specifically? Which is right here...

There's an "easy root method" that involves renaming the sudo binary in your phone to su... If you do this, it's strongly recommended you install Superuser when you're done.

My ROM (hurrhurr) comes with root already available.

I've been trying for a week to root my LG viper and nothing has worked. I originally used the Bin4ry method to root ICS but the other day Sprint rolled out an OTA and it un-rooted my phone. I've literally tried every method I can find and nothing works. Every time I get the same message like in the picture in the attachment. Can someone help me? I've tried superoneclick, one click root, the bin4ry method, I've also tried installing a custom recovery through ROM manager and several other ways and I get the same result? This is driving me crazy because almost half of my apps require root access and now they are useless!
