for the font
go to the market and install font installer it has the roboto font included
for the lock screen
install magiclocker from the market then download the theme here...
http://www.landofdroid.com/2011/wan...h-style-lock-screen-magiclocker-apk-now-here/
easy!
Actually, the theme is also on the market. I just downloaded magiclocker and the Android 4 theme (there's a free and paid version) and installed them both. Working great so far.
EDIT:
just a heads up. If you get the paid version, you can't add shortcuts. You can only change the current three that are already there (camera, phone, and sms). Think I might just switch back to widget locker, lol
the font looks really clean

Oh nice find! The roboto font is really sex and that app is pretty cool, too! Thanks!
Thanks man.
That application, magic locker, is extremely unreliable for me. About one out of three times I'll
push the power button and the screen just won't turn on.

Thank you, that cool
I was liking the roboto font - then wanted to revert back to stock. Used the same app and searched for 'stock' - and mostly everything was back to normal.
However, some apps (i.e. gmail) are not back to stock. It is having issues with the bold stock font.
I emailed the developer of the font app - and he said that when you apply Roboto, it over-rides all system fonts...but when you apply 'Stock', it only reverts back some of the fonts. His suggestion was to find a flashable .zip that would revert your ROM back to stock fonts.
Anyone else have this issue?
Anyone have a flashable .zip that would revert back to full stock fonts?

I've done my research can't find the answer. I like how you can use custom icons with launcher pro. I like the text look for icons. I dont like the launcher pro setup. I like how the original 7 screens are set up with 2.2 ota. Using launcher pro you can't get the widgets like on the original screens. I have each page set up the way i like and have found no way to do it using lp.
I would like to know if there is a way to replace the icons with the text in the original 2.2 ota. Is there an icon changer program that allows this?
How do you make custom icons?
All help appreciated. Thanks, Eric
I've used ADW and launcher pro both and they both have a custom shortcut option. I used it to change my messaging icon recently.

The best quick and easy way is adw, better home, LP etc. other than that. Pull every apk from your phone and edit its icon and push back.

I use the custom short cut option works great for my needs.
Its much easier to use something like LauncherPro. Its a great app and is completely customizable.
If you go with the LauncherPro method... check out the customizations and icons and what not here
I am running gummy 2.0. I am not sure if that is important info or not but I want my phone to have this theme https://market.android.com/details?id=com.upwardspiral.Basic_Orange
If i could get that exact theme somehow that would be awesome. but if I cant I would like something like this which I think is more in the possible range.http://launcherpro-themes.deviantart.com/gallery/?set=27893132&offset=24#/d3i8v4p
I like the simple clean look of just he words. Any help is much appreciated.
Also the only theme programs I know of so far are launcher pro and adw. Are there any other ones worth looking at?
Thanks a ton!
You could also try GO Launcher EX.

The basic orange theme is a cm7 theme. At this time the droid charge doesn't have cm7 running but I am sure the theme can be ported or someone can make an orange theme from one of their current themes. I would put a request thread asking for someone to create an orange theme or see what they can come up with.

I think the only way to do that would be to use the TSM parts option in Gummy 2.0, and as for widget locker do you have the app? there should be theme settings somewhere in options
I installed the GO Launcher EX that came with the Google Apps RAR in the developer forum and noticed that I am unable to set my own custom wallpaper. I am only able to set a Live wallpaper or the default one that comes with GO Launcher EX. Anyone else have this problem?
When I attempt to do so, I go to the gallery, select my picture, crop and size it, then try to set it. It does the whole "Saving" thing but when returning back to the launcher, nothing has changed.
I've tried both from the Wallpaper option on "Menu" as well as under Theme Settings in GO Launcher EX.
Also, anyone know of a way to change the Amazon lock screen? The Amazon lock screen is still present after installing GO Launcher EX and will change the wallpaper to one of the random lock screen ones after turning off the screen and locking the device anyway...
Thanks in advance!!
EDIT: I should also note that I am rooted.
I have the same problem but am not rooted. I would love to disable Amazon's rotating wallpaper in favor of one of Go Laucher's.
I was planning on going into the system files and locate the folder its pulling the wallpapers from. Hopefully all we have to do is replace them with the wallpapers we like. Go launcher wallpaper doesn't shift left and right for me either when screen moving.

the problem seems to lie in the Fire's own stock lock screen. given the fact that it is rooted, see if you can disable the stock lock screen (using No Lock from the android market) and replacing it with something like Go Locker or WidgetLocker (though some say WidgetLocker doesn't work well)

The wallpaper for the launcher is located in the launchers apk. The wallpapers for the lockscreen are in framework-res.apk the standard place for an aftermarket launcher to pull wallpapers from is framework-res.apk (correct me if I'm wrong. The rom would pretty much have to be custom to fix this. Therefore it would be best for us to get a working recovery(twrp or clockwork using short presses to move through menus and long presses to select) then focus on ICS or HC(probably better off ICS) so we have a soft home, menu, back button.
Then changing wallpapers would be a breeze.

I got no lock to work. Same solution used to get Android Market to work. Get Titanium Backup installed (need the paid version) and you can use it to change the installed No Lock app to a system app. Reboot and it works fine. Will need to have your Kindle Fire Rooted.
Ok, Now I have No Log working, but how do I replace the Lock Screen?
GO Launcher EX wallpaper, make it stick
It's not a question of disabling the locker; regardless of whether the phone locks or not, the default Kindle slider screen appears on wake-up, and after sliding, the default Kindle wallpaper is there instead of GO Launcher's wallpaper.
I, too, am greatly annoyed by this.
If pyrostic is right, then regrettably there's no simple way to fix this. Which would suck. (Many of us are not developers.)
Widget locker works well for changing the lockscreen wallpaper at least..

It won't stay after you restart.
Benjyp's procedure worked for me. I posted more specifics about what you can do about them.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1355267
OK. I've got the wallpapers to not change back to the Amazon ones by changing permissions on the /data/data/com.android.settings/files/wallpaper file, but I can't get scrollable wallpapers to work. I'm using the long rainbow one that came with Go Launcher but it's fixed and won't scroll. I've tried changing the settings in Go Launcher to the Default setting (to allow scrolling wallpapers) but that didn't help.
Anyone else having this problem?
Would you mind sharing how you changed permissions? I.e. what app used and changed from/to what?
My mom downloaded a live wallpaper and like the others, it keeps getting changed back.
so to stop it from changing wallpapers you have to root it?
yea gotta root to stop it from changing wallpapers. I feel like a solution will come out that doesnt require root...hopefully

Hi everyone,
I'm new to xda although have been reading along for quite some time but finally have a question that is bugging me enough that I want to ask.
I had been using the Cobalt CM9/AOKP Theme by dustinb on the Play Store for awhile and liked the tweaked icons it used for many common applications. Now, after starting to use the Nova launcher, I noticed that the theme still works for most of my phone but it does not change the icons anymore.
I saw that the Nova launcher actually has a setting that allows the icon set to be changed but nothing shows up for Cobalt there. Does anyone know if there is a way to force Nova to use the Cobalt icons or if there is a way to separate out the Cobalt icon set from the Cobalt theme and format it so that it can be selected in the Nova icon set setting dialog.
From everything I have read, there doesn't seem to be a way to easily change an individual application's icon like the .desktop file used in Linux.
I just found that the icons do change after reboot. Sorry for posting a question before trying everything. I didn't even think of rebooting since the rest of the theme worked right away and the icons used to change without reboot on CM9 and the standard Trebuchet launcher.
Thanks,
Boz

Hello all,
New Galaxy S2 user here. Coming from a line of exclusively HTC Sense phones and ROMs.
I'm wondering if it's possible (and easy) to change the icons for default apps in CM9 or TW based ROMs? Specifically the "Messaging" icon - I hate the "smiley" face. Makes me feel 12 years old again.
I've done a few searches, but I'm not looking to replace the entire icon set or the ROM or theme... just one icon.

The hard way is to download the apk, open it up, replace the images with the ones you want, repackage it, and reinstall it. The easy way is to use a launcher that allows you to change the icon. I know Apex and Nova do, not sure about any others.

Also check out "Desktop Visualizer" in the market .
But as already mentioned ....the different launchers are the best & easiest way.
Holo launcher is another one.
Good Luck.

Go Launcher as well. Go, Nova, and Apex have the ability to use icon sets made for each other.
Hmmm... going to an entirely different launcher seems like overkill, but I guess if it works...
There used to be apps on the Market that would allow you to create shortcuts with different icons (BetterCut comes to mind, but the dev pulled it from the Market entirely).
If you don't want a new launcher, try Desktop Visualizer (though I have yet to figure out how to get it to use an existing icon pack). There are a lot of options in it and it's a great program.
